Anybody else would have given it up as a bad job, but not you. Looks great. Love the colour of the lamp shade. Also your stand looks great. Amazing job.

Thanks! That was the earth wire (green/yellow) connected to the metalwork. Live (brown) and neutral (blue) were wired to the bulb holder, which is insulated from the metal. 👍

Try pressing it into an old socket next time…. And Kroil is a much better penetrating oil. Soak all those fasteners several days before attempting to take them apart….give the oil time to work.
What difference would a socket make? Kroil isn't available here, I think that's just a US thing. I usually use 3 in 1 penetrating oil, I've found it to be pretty decent. I left everything soaking for a few days before I started work. Thanks for watching!
Do you mean the lamp? It's an engineer's/machinist work lamp, you usually see them bolted to industrial machines like lathes etc. I made a base for it because I wanted it free standing 🙂

It was tempting to just give up on it... but there was still enough there to be worth saving!
Very very nice job it looks and works great love the colour thanks for sharing your time and remember stay safe and make 🍺🍺👍👍
Thanks, and you're very welcome! 👍
That's a beauty! Nice color.

Great restoration!!! Be careful with your hands!! Greetings from Victoria (Australia)
Thank you! I do try to be! 🙂
Awesome work 👏
That thing had not one but both feet in the grave yet somehow you brought it back to life, you must be related to Dr. Frankenstein.
Haha, I suspect we share a lot in common at least 😆
Wow! I gave it up the minute I saw it, but you made it look, and work, perfect.
Thank you! It was just about good enough to save this one!
Nicely done. And only a little bit of blood spilled!
😆 I think a little bit of blood goes into every one of my projects...

Very good!
I'm from Americana SP - Brasil.
Thanks!
I still think about the previous desk lamps that I used to have.
Perfect, great video and lots of talent. The only thing I'd have changed is the lamp cord for a braided one.
Thank you!
Thinking about it, that would have been a nice upgrade. I just substituted what was there before.
Lovely colour. Good job. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘
Thank you! Fun fact: It's some paint I had left over from a car I used to own. Saab Eucalyptus green, if you're wondering 🙂

I was surprised that lubrications were not applied to all joints before bashing them apart...

The wiring seemed odd having the metal work all wired to neutral or was that earth with a blue wire? Looked dangerous? Great job though! 🧡
Thanks!

I think i know ehy no one has restored it before!
I very nearly passed it by myself!
A case in point: anything can be restored - but many things shouldn’t be.
Such as?
Just hope the putty holds the pieces together!
👎from me.

The 'putty' is actually filler. It's just filling in a few small pits for cosmetic purposes, it's not there to hold anything together.
It would be better to pass this lamp to someone who knew how to free it up without destroying it.
In what way did I destroy it?
