    Technically, only C7 and C8 go through the bacterial membrane.... of course the PolyC9 does as well, but it is its own C9 complex in the "Big Mac Attack"

    Nice and well simplified. but I think there is a mistake somewhere, C2 is cleaved by C1 to give C2a and C2b. Which of the two(C2a and C2b) binds to C4b? in the cartoon demonstration, it shows C2a binding to C4b and in the description it's mentioned that ."...C2a diffuses in solution and C2a binds to C4b... " Is this correct?

      C2a used to be an exception, where the roles of a and b are switched. Some newer models remove this expectation, but the C2a in this case is what you would see as C2b in other cases.
