I was actually born in 93 but I remember watching hocus-pocus on Disney Channel when I was little with my brother and I freaking love this movie this will always be one of my childhood favorites
I live in Salem and it’s truly a magical place. Everyone who lives here is committed to keeping the historical structures protected and don’t want any commercial development. We have nearly zero chain stores in Salem besides drug and grocery stores and we want to keep it that way. It has immeasurable charm and I’ve taken some pretty creepy pics of apparitions in several locations 👻
They also did filming in Whittier Ca for Hocus Pocus! I remember it from when I was younger my mom took me to see the sets in uptown Whittier. I even saw Shara Jessica Parker ! I will never forget it.
I LOVE this movie, watch it every year & cry my eyeballs out at the end,,,every damn year, didn't realize what a "cult classic" it was until last year though.
In a world full of constant change its wonderful to see that a lot hasn’t changed since the movie.. Makes me love small towns more. Comforting. Ask you are awesome. Thank you so much for this !
I was just in Salem this past week and had so much fun. Seeing the houses of Max and Allison was so surreal! Max’s house was farther away than I thought. We went on a ghost tour and the guide said the interior scene of Allison’s house was actually shot in the Rope’s mansion, but who knows. Thanks for the video!

They filmed the old guy dressed as “Satan” scenes & trick or treating scenes over here in Uptown Whittier, California. I was surprised when I heard they filmed a few scenes over here. For the longest time I thought they just filmed it in Massachusetts.

I went to Salem a few years ago over Halloween weekend. One of the best Halloween experiences I have ever had, and getting to see some of the movie's filming locations was a great bonus while there!

This was awesome, great job!!! I just did my own Hocus Pocus video as well and I could not find two spots...The street you see Max riding down with the bus stop sign and once he gets his shoes taken away and looks out into the city. I was so frustrated because I knew that scene wasn't filmed at the cemetery scene with Jay and Ice. Again, great job!
Well that’s freaking awesome! I even asked a stranger at the park, and he was like hmmm that looks like Marblehead but I didn’t have a car to be able to look around
Its good to see you are respectful during the filming. People in the background by Danny's house are so disrespectful. People live there. Please don't on their property if you're visiting Salem. FYI filming locations are easy to find by visiting Salem app or taking movie tour/hocus pocus tour. If you see cry innocent interactive play you can see inside of the town hall.
Yeah I hated the way some of the tourists were acting, very disrespectful.. I can see max and Dani’s house becoming like the breaking bad house very soon 🤣🤣

Nice!! Didn't know as much about the Salem sites as the ones located in Whittier, CA. Interiors of the school were shot at East Whittier Middle School and also some of the trick or treating scenes!
I’m sure you know by now that the old school is Propery of Salem housing Authority (I’m the inspector) and has been since 1992. I’m sitting right outside of it across the street in the Salem Commons. Great video bud. Well done. Love the movie.
This was so entertaining. I visited Salem on 1993, the year the film came out. Many of the streets look familiar to me but now I wish I had gone after I watched the movie. I did get to go to The House of Seven Gables but I didn’t know about that colony that Thackery’s House was in. I would have loved to have seen that! I want to go back now after seeing this. New England is such a beautiful place. We stayed in a B&B in each state in New England and it was so amazing. Thanks again for sharing this.
Oct 1st I start watching all my favorite Halloween movies this being one of them along with paranorman, monster house, sleepy hollow, Halloween, some of the RL Stein movies etc.... Fall/Halloween is my favorite time of year.

I can tell that a lot of work has gone into this video, and being here in England, U.K, I'm excited and so happy to see the places as they are now! Looks like Max's house still draws a bit of a crowd... Thanks so much for this video and your time and effort Ben! :)
I've been to Salem. What's funny is that there is so much of the town that you don't see which is congested traffic, lots of parking garages, restaurants, shops. The things and buildings that people go to see are remakes of the originals due to a fire years and years ago. The town in neat but you really have to walk around and find these locations as you can't see them from all the enormous buildings everywhere. The town isn't as picturesque as portrayed in the movie and this is what really disappointed me the most. I'm going to go back to try to see if the next experience will be a little better. A tragedy most of all I think, is that the location of Gallows Hill which is were the 19 people were tried and hanged, is now covered over by and commercialized by a Walgreens. It's still a neat place to visit but just keep the above in mind so that you have an idea of what you will really see.

Hocus Pocus is the first movie I ever saw at a drive in theatre. My mom and dad took me and my sister to see it. It’s one of my all time favorites.

This was so entertaining. I visited Salem on 1993, the year the film came out. Many of the streets look familiar to me but now I wish I had gone after I watched the movie. I did get to go to The House of Seven Gables but I didn’t know about that colony that Thackery’s House was in. I would have loved to have seen that! I want to go back now after seeing this. New England is such a beautiful place. We stayed in a B&B in each state in New England and it was so amazing. Thanks again for sharing this.

The fence?? Oh yeah there are people everywhere in Salem, it’s crazy! I do not recommend going near Halloween haha

Oct 1st I start watching all my favorite Halloween movies this being one of them along with paranorman, monster house, sleepy hollow, Halloween, some of the RL Stein movies etc.... Fall/Halloween is my favorite time of year.

I didn’t share the exact location out of fear that people would copy my video and use the exact same location.. this video was designed to be almost like a behind the scenes look at where the movie was filmed

I've been to Salem. What's funny is that there is so much of the town that you don't see which is congested traffic, lots of parking garages, restaurants, shops. The things and buildings that people go to see are remakes of the originals due to a fire years and years ago. The town in neat but you really have to walk around and find these locations as you can't see them from all the enormous buildings everywhere. The town isn't as picturesque as portrayed in the movie and this is what really disappointed me the most. I'm going to go back to try to see if the next experience will be a little better. A tragedy most of all I think, is that the location of Gallows Hill which is were the 19 people were tried and hanged, is now covered over by and commercialized by a Walgreens. It's still a neat place to visit but just keep the above in mind so that you have an idea of what you will really see.
I had to go there like 6 times to film this video and I hated it. Waaaay to congested for a small town and very frustrating to navigate
