    Thanks for the overview. I would say however a resin printer is a different beast from a Filament one. Not directly comparable. Resin is for artistic things with a lot of details, filament is to produce working engineering prototypes for everyday life. I wouldn't print a functional plastic part for my car in resin and I wouldn't print a detailed statue in PLA, just different mediums for very different things. I myself have both and use them for very different projects.

      Resin is evolving very quickly. There is some resin out there that can have engineering purpose.
      Tough or ABS like resine already have very decent properties and some other stuff like ceramic resin is coming up (altough you need a oven and all for ceramic... quit different than standard stuff).
      I wouldn't be surprised to see resin completely catch-up with filament. Moreover you have different fabrication constraints, sometime to the benefice of resin.

      @Miam_miam_la_gauffr Resin is great, I still feel you need both for very specific applications.
      Resin is also toxic and frankly can be a pain to deal with.
      Cost is also much more expensive. If we are talking about specialty resin, it's currently very prohibitive compared to filament cost.

    DIY idea as requested: the spinal candles (we'll have to make do with candlesticks & tealights prob) from PoA!
    P.S. Or the bat skeleton mobile that's in Sirius' old room...

    How would you program it to make something that isn't real? For instance, if you wanted to print the goblet from the transfiguration class that Ron tried in the movie but it failed and had a tail.

      You'd have to make a 3D model of it using software like Blender 3D.

    Make the wizard chess set please! The one Harry, Ron, and Hermione must play against and the one Ron and Harry play.

    Wow such quality but u definitely need a garage or ventilated workshop… the swirls on that rook are so Hogwarts Legacy-esq… I can imagine that as part of a full set in say one of the founders throne rooms all painted in gold and that signature blue and would be good to include space to clip in a magnet so u could display the board on an angle and to give the pieces some weight for actual chess play. Awesome vid btw ❤

    Can I slice obj and stl on cura? Do any Stl work?

    • @MattS-eh6fw
      @MattS-eh6fw 5 месяцев назад +1

      Cura can be used to slice for resin printers (I believe, im not 100% sure, even after a quick google search) using obj or stl files, but youre better off using Lychee or Chitubox for resin.
      Cura was specially designed for FDM with resin added later, whereas chitubox and lychee were initially designed around resin printing with fdm added later. I personally use lychee, but i think chitubox is the most popular.
      Not that cura is bad, i use it for fdm printing all the time, but the other two are tried and tested for resin.
      Both can use obj and stl files and slice from there

    I planned to put it into my room on my dresser is this a bad idea (ps I have 2 cats that sleep with me I’m not sure if this’ll affect us or should I just leave a window open)

    • @wizardryworkshop
      @wizardryworkshop  4 месяца назад

      Yeah... not a good idea. You really need a good ventilation system or to do this outside or in a garage. You don't want yourself or cats breathing large amounts of the fumes. Always wear a mask and wear gloves.

    Had this printer for a year now, first prints were amazing, then out of nowhere I started getting random fails for no reason. 6 months after the fails started, 2 feps replaced, build plate sanded and re-levelled multiple times, settings changed to default, changing lift speeds and heights... Im done, 3D printing is not for me

      Please elaborate. What is your reasoning? Do you own one? I appreciate your opinion, but I disagree.
