      @@kamalzaveri4089 You asked for the best, which means the answer will be something like a Flashforge Waxjet that cost 70,000 dollars. That's for results that doesn't require any processing, otherwise just grab a Mars DLP printer for its sharpness and start there but you'll be dealing with scan lines that need post processing.

    It's a relief that Elegoo is so far out in front this generation. The one vitally important aspect of these printers that nobody takes into account until they've already made their purchase is customer service, and that's where elegoo takes the cake and runs off with it. I've had Elegoo replace parts that were out of warranty just because the failure was clearly not user error. I've also had them send me out multiple parts at once because they were unsure which part had broken, with no expectation of me sending the extra part back. I've heard horror stories about trying to resolve shipping issues with printers bought directly from Phrozen.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  8 месяцев назад +9

      Unfortunately it’s the one thing I can’t review. My contacts at Elegoo are not the customer services team

    • @AverageMrFox
      @AverageMrFox 8 месяцев назад +11

      This a thousand times. I'm in the UK and made the mistake of ordering a Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k from a retailer in Holland thinking I'd saved myself a hundred-odd quid due to currency conversions etc.; took almost 3 weeks for it to arrive despite estimated (and paid for) express 2 day shipping, and was dead on arrival. Figured I'd just reach out to Phrozen customer support as it was a brand new machine, and hopefully they could just send me out a new LED module and all would be well - went through almost a week of back & forth with the customer service rep due to timezones, which was fine, only for it to turn out that they couldn't help me and I'd have to reach out to the retailer to get the replacement part. Did that, only to have the replacement LED module die on me a week later once I'd installed it through no fault of my own... I highly rate the quality of the prints from the Sonic Mini 8k but that experience was enough to put me off Phrozen unless I can get it from a well known retailer in the UK who provides warranty & free shipping.
      Elegoo, however, was an entirely different experience. I ordered a Saturn 12k Ultra on pre-order back in June/July this year and not only was shipping free and there was no customs, but I've had absolutely zero issues with the machine from the day it arrived, and I'm continually impressed by their shipping speeds & communication when buying either other printers (Neptune 3 Pro) or resin/filament directly from them - there's been times where it's actually arrived faster than orders placed on Amazon.
      I imagine when you get a machine that actually works, they're all much of a muchness at that price point & resolution, but Elegoo absolutely smashes it out of the park with their customer support and to be honest I think that's probably enough to have secured me as a long term customer. I've used AnyCubic & Phrozen machines from just about every generation in the past as well and never had anything near the level of satisfaction I've had from the Saturn 12 Ultra

    • @BabyJesus66
      @BabyJesus66 8 месяцев назад +6

      100% confirm your experience... Elegoo is AWESOME when it comes to customer service. They responded to my emails quick and got me the parts I needed for very CHEAP on a few year old printers... got my printers working in no time. As long as they don't change, I'll be buying all my 3D printers from Elegoo. Awesome printers, awesome prices, great service... their stuff just works well and is priced extremely good for what you get.
      *edit - I should also add my Mars printers (very first Mars model) still work perfectly prob 4 years after buying them. I have zero complaints other than I want to upgrade but no real point when these damn things won't break lol. 😂
      Elegoo 👍

    I'm sticking with the D2 I got earlier this year. After pairing it with Craftsman Resin, upgrading the vat to a metal one lined with ACF film, and using a 25c heater; I've been getting decent prints with it that I'm pretty happy with.
    That said I'll keep an eye on GKTwo and Elegoo if they ever make vastly improved DLP printers. I've ruined a few printers due to user error (cracked screens from forgetting to remove hardened resin from a failed print, leaks damaging glass and boards...) and having a thick plate of glass instead of an LCD/Mono screen has given me lots of peace of mind.

    I really appreciate your content as it has really helped me these last few days.

    I have a photon mono right now as my "starter" that i bought before i'd really even done any homework on printing as a whole, but I'm definitely going for the GKTwo when i upgrade, specifically for the extra features like the heater. I've got my little photon dialed in and singing about as well as i can, but overnight temperature swings in the 50 or 60 degrees fahrenheit range are not uncommon in my area, and that's the culprit in an overwhelming majority of my failed prints

    Thank you for doing this video. I have been looking for my first 3D resin printer for awhile now to print miniatures. I tend to do a lot of research before buying things as a lot of things sound great on the outside, but after doing research on the item, they end up not being what they seemed. All that to say, I almost bought a Phrozen Sonic Mini 8ks, but now I think I am definitely going with the Uniformation GKTWO. Wish I had caught the $230 off sale for the Printer + Wash Station + Curing Box bundle. Ohwell. At least I know what printer I want now. Thanks again for the review and insight. I got a GKtwo as my first resin printer in large part because of your original review. I liked it a lot but had some growing pains with it coming from using a Bambu x1c for FDM printing, but I keep realizing how many things the GKtwo does right that I take for granted. It just has so many small (and large) things that make it so much more user friendly and while I could handle a different printer now, there is no way I would have had the focus or time to learn on most of the other printers out there without pulling my hair out. It was totally worth it.

Since you asked, personally I wanted the absolute maximum detail I could get, it may not matter but making whatever my heart desires out of a liquid turned hard plastic is the coolest thing ever imo. I now have everything I need for medium-high grade post processing and painting for what I consider to be only a small dent in my savings overall and I'm absolutely hooked, 3 weeks in, 15 bottles of 1000g in 12 varieties/colors, and a ton of noob mistakes later .-. this is my new favorite hobby even considering the safety steps for ventilation/contamination.

    Ive been using the gktwo since may when I found your video about the gktwo and its hands down the best price to headache of any printer in existence. out of the probably 100+ prints I've done I've only had one to 2 failures and it was due to user error. They have the best tech support (James is hands down the best tech support guy). Honestly yes your spending alot to get the printer but your not gonna waste your time trying to get it to work like other printers it will just function from the get go.

Had a cheaper resin printer before but sold it. Have my printers in a workshop outside my house, and it is too cold for resin printing during say okt-march. I sell Formlabs to pro customers, and I know firsthand how much those added features means in real day use. And a halloween $150 rebate for the kit made the decision easy. I’m saving for the Uniformation GKTwo… will prob purchase around Thanksgiving/Christmas looking for a good price, but I’ve made up my mind on the specific one. I would prefer easy entry and repairability and easy upgradability after battling with FDM printing for the past 5 years. I’ve tried everything that I can think of to print mini’s and I have a few positives but a LOT of negatives. I would like to print a lot of mini’s as I DM for two vastly different kinds of DND groups. I will still use and love my fdm printer, but I’m ready to love an easy to use out of the box resin printer too. Wishing you the best, how long do your links stay good? Ended up going with the Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra, have absolutely no regrets so far. Thought I wasn't going to need the additional build space, but didn't even make it a month before I was using the max Z height at 260mm. It's also insanely fast with the ACF film, I'm not printing miniatures so the ACF benefits are huge. It's often faster than my Bambu P1P depending on the print.
    Greatly appreciated the insightful reviews, likely wouldn't have gotten mine otherwise. I told Elegoo that but they said they wouldn't give you the credit since I forgot to go through the affiliate link 🤦‍♂. Thank you for the video breaking down all of these resin printers. I was stuck between the Mars 4 Ultra and the Saturn 2 8K, but after watching your review on both of them, I decided to go with the Saturn 2 8K as I felt that what you said about the Mars 4 Ultra's 18 micron resolution essentially becoming redundant due to the ACF film made a lot of sense. Also the larger build plate means I can print larger miniatures/statues in the future, and the fact that the cover comes with an exhaust hole that I can hook up to my ventilation setup is a huge bonus for me from a health and safety standpoint.

But the easiness of use with the features included was what sold me. My printers are in a spare room that also has a window open for ventilation so heating is an issue and the resin fumes have been quite and issue for me too. Im still waiting on deliver after ordering it a few weeks ago. The bigger size is also a plus as i was struggling for space on my mars 3.

Not that there aren't a bunch of great printers out there, but it seems there's still a lot more variables to account for, and failures are more common for the average person. I've had none of those headaches. Up and printing within an hour or 2, with only a handful of failures since that were completely my fault. I've run gallons of resin thru them at this point and couldn't be happier. Another thing that doesn't get mentioned as much is the customer service and GKtwo community. Both are exceptional. I'm one of those weirdos who would love to see a larger scale DLP, but I just don't think the cost would be something palatable.
    I do love that UniFormation has come to the market to push some very desirable features and I hope they continue to do so and cause the bigger name producers to step up and do some innovating beyond dishonest resolutions. We've reach the point where resolution is meaning less than quality of life features.

    Very interesting... It has narrowed the choices down to only two, but still... I'm still tempted by the mega 8ks, even though I could get the saturn 3 ultra three times for that price and basically print the same amount, just not as one object. THIS VIDEO HELPED ME SO MUCH!
    Your quick, easy breakdown of pro/cons per printer, and quick comparisons to the NEXT or LAST printer in the price points, was fantastic.
    This helps me get over the analysis paralysis, that I am sure we ALL experience when looking for the right first printer (Looking at you Anet A8, ugh)
    Also, I really appreciate the way you shoot your videos. From the colored light sources, and the light coming out of the box (I'm stealing that idea for my vids, thank you very much) to the blurring in and out of focus on model names, and even the 8k/12k plate replacement on that one printer. Simply fantastic, and I really enjoyed it sir!
    I am fairly certain I will be going with the Saturn 3 Ultra!!

    after watching this, I decided on the elegoo mars 4 max about 2 weeks ago. It has been an absolute workhorse and I'm already churning out prints I never would have been able to imagine before this purchase. I pierced my fep 4 days in through a series of extreme mistakes and idiocy, and I got a reply from elegoo within 12 hours of my email advising me on what I did wrong and new films sent to me for free. I had already ordered new films, but the customer service legitimately is top notch and I couldn't have chosen better.

    17:53 I just got the any cubic M5S. I really like it I do agree with the softness . My biggest problem is overheating the resin it seems that after you're 2 hours of Brittany I have a lot of failures and the resin that it's very warm. These are using the standard settings given by any cubic. I also ha elegoo Saturn the first version. A anycubic m3 max. I have some fdm 2.

    Great summary for the range of choices and all within 20 minutes...impressive.
    Can you give your impression of the Starfield 3D Laser resin KickStarter printer?
    Thanks in advance and I'll look forward to your reply while I continue researching resin 3DP with your review videos.

    Thank you for sharing this. Do you have any recommendations on the right Elegoo (or other brand for that matter) for someone who just wants to make resin forms for jewelry casting? Most everything I'd print would be under 5", normally a lot smaller... If I were to get a smaller printer for miniatures, would I go through less resin waste? Also, I'm a beginner with 3-D printing, recommending one that would have very good guides/customer service would be helpful too.

    I'm just about to get into the hobby and about to buy my very 1st printer. Leaning towards the Phrozen 8K Mini S. I think it's a good start, or at least I hope... 😅

    Interesting video and a great sales tool for Elegoo. I started with Elegoo but was turned off by their lack of support. I move to a Creality Halot-Mage which was $250.00 and wish I started with that one. The design of the Halot is so much better and the 8K gives me much better prints.

    • @FauxHammer

      Fair enough, I don’t tend to comment on customer service because people have different experiences.
      I never used the Halot Mage

    starting with a mars 3, I upgraded to a saturn 2 8K because, as you mentioned in the video, of the buildplate size. And yes, your video helped me make that decision

    I went with the Saturn 3 Ultra from your affiliated link. I went with it because for me it was the best price to quality ratio for large prints. I have a temperate workshop in the house which is vented outside so temperature was not a concern. So the price hike for the GKTWO did not seem worth it. Basically for that money I was able to buy 12kg of resin, the wash and cure kit spare sheets and all that. Made more sense to me.

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's totally fair, especially when you already have the facility available to handle temperature and extraction/

    Decided to start my journey with the phrozen mini 8ks following your advices (and links) a few months ago. I strongly hesitated with the gktwo but, not knowing if I would like the hobby I went for the cheap one. No regret at all, I love the results with the 8ks, but knowing all I know now then, I would have gone for the gktwo. I'll see what will be the best when mine dies

    I bit the bullet on the GKTwo - I've owned a Mono X for over a year now and have been really with, but the time has come to upgrade. Based in a large part upon your review I waited to see if the price would come down and happy to see that it has for this week - Also, your Fauxhammer code knocked even more off - so I feel like I got this for a steal (sub £650). No idea when it will arrive but can't wait to get started. Cheers Ross :-)

    Ooof, I would be picking the GK 2 if I were upgrade/using my 3d printer. The heater feels like a game changer. I've tried a few of the mods to make my own and they haven't worked out, (though wrapping a keg warmer around it seemed to do the best. I'll defnitely keep this feature in mind for the next time I purchase. Though, I should upgrade, because I have a very old printer that doesn't work very well.

    • @FauxHammer

      No rush to upgrade if your current one will make do, the longer you wait, the more likelihood if newer sexier models

    I was putting off the UniFormation purchase until I saw this generations feature sets, and I have to say that will probably be my next resin printer. I would like to know if UniFormation is going to be sending you their 12k screen and Wifi adapter to review. A review from you would seal the deal for me.

      They are sending it, but I am confident that like the Phrozen it will be a minor/pointless upgrade

    Mate, really appreciate the hard work, dedication, and clarity you put into EVERY SINGLE video you produce. I hope your audience understands what goes into making videos like this. Unquestionably, the amount of work is off the charts. The research alone is a full-time job.
    Well done and THANK YOU for helping me pick my next printer!
    I've been using the Creality 3 (a NIGHTMARE) and a Mars 2 (a joy!) for a few years now and love what I've created with them. Your research has improved my understanding and my enjoyment of the hobby significantly.

    This was a fantastically helpful video. It was clear and concise making it invaluable for 3D printer virgins such as myself. An interpretation of _3D Printing Land_ is a pandora's box buried in the bowels of a rabbits warren set within a labyrinth (seriously, it's freakin' nuts). Thankyou & cheers! 🤘(and I used the word _virgin_ simply because that's what new & unused plastic pellets are called)
