Hi. Thanks for all the views and wonderful comments. I wanted to address the UV Lamp and the fact that I wasn't wearing gloves while post curing. You can't see it in the shot, but I was wearing my UV Protective eyewear. The ones shown earlier in the video. You should not look at artificial 405nm UV Light without protective eyewear. It can damage your eyes. Sorry that I didn't mention this in the video. As far as UV Light and skin. I've had several comments that I shouldn't be exposing my skin to the UV light either. Including a comment from a close friend. As you can tell, I am very pale and am sensitive to sunlight. However the UV lamp in the video is similar to that used in a nail salon. It is narrow band 405nm. Research has shown that exposure to this type of artificial UV light does not increase the risk of skin cancer. See link below. It's safer than the same amount of exposure to direct sunlight. Therefore I haven't worried much about it. I could have just as easily taken the part outside and sun cured it for a few minutes. I prefer to post cure more slowly and instead use the UV lamp, which is less powerful than the sun. Still, better to be safe than sorry. Therefore I do recommend that you wear gloves and avoid prolonged skin exposure to the UV light. www.probeauty.org/docs/nmc/news-UV-Nail-Lamps-Little-Risk-Skin-Cancer_2012-12-09.pdf
Question...Have you tried reusing the printed leftover resin, i mean, melting it to make it liquid form again, to be reused, thus, cutting cost, have you tried it and has it worked ?
@@kingtigertank72 That is not how Resin works, you cannot remelt it like you can with FDM prints using thermoplastics (like PLA), because it not a melted polymer in the first place. Resin is made from Monomers and a UV-active component. When it gets in contact with UV-Light, a Polymerization reaction starts, creating long chains (polymers) out of a lot of the monomers. This process is no reversable by heat. But usually the amount of resin you "waste" (for support structures and maybe failed prints) is quite low, and all of the still liquid resin in the vat is perfectly usable. If you want more detailed information, check out the video "Ph.D. Chemist Explains 3D Printer Resin"
Someone else has probably pointed this out but you need a mask or a well ventilated area basically all the time when working with uncursed resin, prolonged exposure to resin fumes can lead to some nasty health complications down the line. Get a respirator rated for hazardous material and wear it religiously, your lungs will thank you later! Resin isnt incredibly dangerous, but the safety protocols involved are super important, just like they are with most tools of this nature.
@ZahirPerez-ww6tf usually in areas you won't be in 247 but if you are MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALOT OF AIR FILTERS like the original comment said AND USE MASK THAT HAS FILTERS preferably military approved gas mask and LONG gloves

This is the best video I've seen so far. I was skeptical about getting a resin printer because I was under the impression that if one drop of resin got on your skin, you would drop dead instantly! 👻 The stove reference, which I use several times a day, changed my mind.😁 I started thinking about other things I use that can be dangerous, like my table saw, my car, etc. I think I'll give resin printing a try after all.
Don't be fooled. Getting resin carelessly on you can cause you to have incredibly intense allergic reactions. Check reddit for those that have failed to follow proper safety precautions with pictures of visible skin damage. Over time, even a microscopic drop of resin can still cause those reactions. Resin is not to be messed with.
It's not too bad. Just don't let it on your skin if possible and ventilate well. *Test your skin for allergic reaction!* Always wash your skin well if you get some resin on it.

I have an Elegoo Saturn 2 sitting on my dining room table at this moment, still sealed in its original box. I have been using an Ender 3 FDM printer for years and love it but decided to take the leap to resin with the Saturn 2. As one might expect, I have been watching a number of 3d resin printer videos and have found this video to be the best by far. I really like your straightforward, honest and direct approach to explaining the finer details of resin printing and the fact that you do so without relying on that overly-hyped and forced "toxic positivity" that makes me cringe and immediately shut the videos off just makes for a perfect presentation. Thank you for not being a schlock jock and actually offering useful information. I do have a question that I had not previously considered. Beautiful video quality ! Though I do want to point out, I had a major spill/exposure of this stuff happen to me and weeks later got a temporary paralysis(for a few months) with muscle twitching and metallic taste in the mouth as the first symptomatic signs. It's more than just an irritant if you become exposed more (affects the central nervous system and immune system). It can become a class 3 and almost class 4 danger with more exposure. It should be rated a class 3 imo. I really recommend a lab coat for added safety with strong nitrile gloves and a mask in addition just like companies require to follow proper safety dressage of hazardous liquid materials. It's known to kill fish with just a few drops in a large aquarium so don't wash this in the drain much less the kitchen sink please. Aside from that it's really fun to print but it's good to follow up on safety for this.
Even though this video is 2 years old it holds up, I’m just thinking about filament vs resin and I think this had convinced me that resin isn’t as difficult as I thought and probably the way to go for me!

One minute and 46 seconds in this video and you already got me hooked! Your animations are awesome! I'm into 3d printing for 4 years now, and I never seen such a good explanation of how 3 3d printing works! You should start with "welcome to my ted talk" :D
Wow, that was the best getting started in resin printing video I have watched. You present the how to in a much easier way than most other videos, very easy to understand the process. Looking forward to getting a printer soon. Again, great video, thank you for sharing. A new subscriber.
If you were afraid something you said would make someone give up on resin 3D printing you did the exact opposite! I’m crazy about it because of your video! Thank you!!
I'm a very visual learner and these animations explained everything SO well. I love how you covered everything you need to know in a very concise but easy to understand way. Great work!
An additional useful item to use is puppy training pads (aka wee wee pads) they are an absorbant layer on top of a plastic backing. Its great for managing spills. Put them underneath where your working or printer. If there is any spill just pick up the whole thing and toss. So much easier than trying to wipe things up with paper towels.
Wow! This was a fantastic video. I've been looking to get into 3D printing, and have been waiting for the resin printers to come down in price, as I wasn't interested in getting into PLA printing. Very informative, and having an entire section on how to prepare your workspace, and what items you'll want to get....you realize how much trial and error you just saved me? Too good to me!
Thank you so much! My first printer is showing up tommorrow and this was the perfect last video to put all my research in order and clear everything up!
Your videos are hands down the easiest to understand, I hope you make a video explaining finding the right settings for both printing and the post wash and cure times.
@@Nerdtronic if you do, thank you in advance, advice can be confusing, all your videos I have found easy to follow, and I don't switch off during them (I have narcolepsy so concentration can be difficult) I am definitely struggling with my printer, trying to print keycaps without a brittle stem, and was testing them just after curing, only last night did I pick up one that was done last week, and the stem was much harder, I guess they take a bit of time to settle? I am using alcohol to wash, but then see others using Mr clean, I was under the impression it had to be alcohol. I feel like there are lots of little things no one talks about assuming it's common sense. You would be the perfect person to do a "Resin printing for dummies" series. People who have shown settings don't explain why things are set to certain speeds/times and what happens if too high/low, and only really focus on the exposure times.
Thanks for the very clear instructions. I myself am doing FDA 3D printing for a reasonable time already (started out wit a acrylic monster a few years ago, but using a Creality Ender 5 with improvements now). I was thinking into diving into resin printing for a while now. As I also do Holography I brew my developer and blech baths, and so I am no stranger to using chemicals. I think I can handle this resin stuff too. As I do not have a separate room or garage box, I was thinking about building a closet with ventilation that sucks air out and use a tube to blow it outside the window. That way I avoid having harmful fumes inside the house. Secondly - I think about using water washable resin (Elegoo, Wanahoo and other brands), and so I can avoid using a lot of (expensive and flammable) alcohol. Anyway - Thanks for this video. It makes trying out raising printing even more tempting.
I just purchased a Mono 2 today, I cannot wait. So I've been binge watching 3d videos. I really enjoyed this, informative and gave me somethings to think about. Thank you :)
Your videos are definitely helping me getting closer to taking the plunge, and demystifying a lot of things. Thank you very much! What do you think about the wash and cure stations that I've seen available?
Glad I watched this video first. With my current setup where I am living doing the cleaning and worring about light would be difficult for me. I will hold off for now.
I've always wondered my the mono panels are more expensive. In theory it should be less since it requires less manufacturing steps, I suppose it's due to the specific use, and not commonly used in anything but 3d printers. Also thanks for this video, very informative.
Nice video! What is the intensity and wavelength from the UV post curing light? I would definitely use gloves while post curing the parts in the future to prevent skin damage.
Great video! I'm going to be getting my first SLA printer very soon. You suggested a metal funnel for pouring resin back into the bottle, but is there any particular reason not to use a silicone one? I figure it might be easier to just cure the bits of resin left in the funnel under a UV lamp and just peel it off once cured, rather than having to clean a metal funnel with IPA. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something here. Thanks!
I really liked this video, and typically American it doesn't assume you know anything so I found it really good. I knew NOTHING about 3d printing, didn't even know what sla and fdm is so now I do. Thanks
Really wanna get a 3d printer but i never have the money. Would probably print smaller scale prints so resin would be good but this video kinda scares me about all the stuff you need for it. I'd never afford that😂
I am speechless with how well this video is planned and executed. I'm a maker and have been doing 3d printing for a while. Just about to pul the trigger on a couple of resin printers and this was definitely the best video I've seen on resin printing tips and overviews. Excellent work here.
Very informative video! I've been doing FDM printing for 4 years or so and while I still believe it's my current best choice for my own purposes, I will always adore the sheer amount of detail that's possible with SLA printing. Glad to see it's starting to enter an area where it's becoming affordable for most people who want to get into it
Hands down the best comprehensive detailed summary of SLA printer with so the info a person needs. Also a very well put together video production. I enjoyed watching and listening. I appreciate the time it takes to produce high quality videos and the time put in to make it so good. Thanks again, you gained a fan.
very informative, now my brain is not aching anymore on how SLA are working. those Nova3D are great for the price seems enough for my 1/150 diorama projects :). new sub as well :)
This is a very good, comprehensive talk about getting started in Resin Printing, all in 1 place. I have been piecing hints and techniques together from some of my other subscribed channels but; this video just seemed to pull it all together in a way that I got (sorry Joel and Tom!). I have been looking for a resin printer for DnD miniatures and looks like this Nova3D Elphin 2 just might be perfect for it and a great 1st resin printer! Thanks for an excellent video (and the links).
This is one of the best 3d printing videos I've watched, thank you for the awesome graphics explaining how things work. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
I gotta drop a thank you, this video as well as your vid on failures not only got me into 3D printing, I making some really cool stuff, and learning a few tricks too. This vid is great, the printer I ended up getting was the Anycubic Photon Mono 4K and it makes some real nice quality prints. Made a few minis, and 1/10 scale figures so far. Going to work on some bigger stuff soon! Thanks and keep the content coming!
Great video, only tweak I'd make if you ever do a revision, is to be careful about the scraper recommendation. The plastic one is just for the vat as it is gentle on the FEP, whereas you want to use a metal one on the build plate. So two scrapers with two purposes. It would be good to mention wash and cure stations too which help simplify the washing and post-cure. Great job on this!
Fantastic newbies guide! Basically completely sold me on getting a resin printer for all the little projects that I have in mind. If I lived in USA, I'd even use your affiliate links. Thanks!

Tons of great info in this video. Wish I had seen before buying my Phrozen Sonic Mighty, but still glad it exists now. Thanks for sharing!
0:26 Before i start... Excelent introduction to set the content baseline. Just the video I was looking for.
Thank you!!
Wow thanks!
I'm a very visual learner and these animations explained everything SO well. I love how you covered everything you need to know in a very concise but easy to understand way. Great work!
What a great video. Very well done. Very informative. One of the best RUclips how to video's I have seen.
An additional useful item to use is puppy training pads (aka wee wee pads) they are an absorbant layer on top of a plastic backing. Its great for managing spills. Put them underneath where your working or printer. If there is any spill just pick up the whole thing and toss. So much easier than trying to wipe things up with paper towels.
great tip, thanks
My first printer is showing up tommorrow and this was the perfect last video to put all my research in order and clear everything up!
hi Marsupials, our factory design, make and sell sla 3d printer, if u hv any problem on sla 3d printer, kindly pls let me know.thx. charlie
Your videos are hands down the easiest to understand, I hope you make a video explaining finding the right settings for both printing and the post wash and cure times.
Thanks. Will give it some thought.
I would love to see a review on a cheap set up like the Creality + curing station. Your channel is amazing, keep up the Amazing work!
Really informative, I appreciate your presentation method and style. Thank you, first time viewer and new subscriber!
Thanks!
I don’t then do subscribe lightly, but the quality and clarity of your videos really deserves my follow, thank you!
No Thank you! :)
This is so easy to understand .. thanks boss !
I've never used one. My next video which should be out any day is on cleaning parts. At least how I do it.
hi john, if u want to buy the sla 3d printer , kindly pls let me know. my factory design, make and sell sla 3d printers
Glad I watched this video first. With my current setup where I am living doing the cleaning and worring about light would be difficult for me. I will hold off for now.
Yeah sorry. Sunlight and photosensitive resin don't mix.
Pretty good and informative video. Thx for sharing and I’m a new subscriber
Really great explanations all around. As a total novice, this video makes getting into resin printing way less daunting
I've always wondered my the mono panels are more expensive. In theory it should be less since it requires less manufacturing steps, I suppose it's due to the specific use, and not commonly used in anything but 3d printers.
Also thanks for this video, very informative.
Another 10k subs in 4mo! Nice progress!!
Such a great explanation of 3d printing.
Nice video! What is the intensity and wavelength from the UV post curing light? I would definitely use gloves while post curing the parts in the future to prevent skin damage.
I love this guy he just seems so nice
Thanks!
Thanks!
hi Andrea , did u get your first SLA 3D printer or not ? our factory design, produce and sell SLA 3D printer
I really liked this video, and typically American it doesn't assume you know anything so I found it really good.
I knew NOTHING about 3d printing, didn't even know what sla and fdm is so now I do.
Thanks
"...consult your user manual or RUclips..." Ah, what a great time to be alive. 🤣
Ha I totally cheated there. No way I could explain every possible way that printers level the plate.
Thank you for making this video, very informative for a total beginner like me!
hi Holy Grass , any plan to buy a new resin printer ?
Really wanna get a 3d printer but i never have the money. Would probably print smaller scale prints so resin would be good but this video kinda scares me about all the stuff you need for it. I'd never afford that😂
I am speechless with how well this video is planned and executed. I'm a maker and have been doing 3d printing for a while. Just about to pul the trigger on a couple of resin printers and this was definitely the best video I've seen on resin printing tips and overviews. Excellent work here.
"You do not want to get this stuff in your eye." So that already covered splattering in your eye, right?
Excellent quality video. Concise and informative. Good clear graphics and many topics covered. Subscribed.
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
Wow! You rock! I wish you were in charge of every tutorial known to man!
Ha.. Glad you enjoed it. Thanks for watching!
Very informative video! I've been doing FDM printing for 4 years or so and while I still believe it's my current best choice for my own purposes, I will always adore the sheer amount of detail that's possible with SLA printing. Glad to see it's starting to enter an area where it's becoming affordable for most people who want to get into it
Great breakdown of the breakdown of 3D printing. This was needed.
Thanks!
This video is amazing and so informative. I'm coming from FDM printing and this video helped me understand so much about the differences. Well done!
Wow thanks! Glad it was helpful.
Great video, wish every video on youtube was this clear.
Wow thanks.
The quality of your videos is incredible. Keep it up!!!
Thanks a ton! Hope to.
Thanks for an excellent video (and the links).
hi Morrie, did u get a resin printer or not ?
This is one of the best 3d printing videos I've watched, thank you for the awesome graphics explaining how things work. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
I'm definitely subbing, I'm going to get a resin printer here soon and these are some great videos to help me get into it.
hi TheManOfman, did u get a resin printer already or not pls ?
I gotta drop a thank you, this video as well as your vid on failures not only got me into 3D printing, I making some really cool stuff, and learning a few tricks too. This vid is great, the printer I ended up getting was the Anycubic Photon Mono 4K and it makes some real nice quality prints. Made a few minis, and 1/10 scale figures so far. Going to work on some bigger stuff soon! Thanks and keep the content coming!
Wonderful production quality and amazing video!! This helped me with my new printer!
Thanks! Glad to help.
Perfectly explained so even ignorant noobs like me can follow. Complete with safety tips. Great job man!
Excellent video! I knew very little about resin printing prior watching but I guess you managed to cover most of the basics.
This video is great!! The best ones that I have watched in a long time. Thanks for the tutorial 😀
This is the best explanation of 3d printing on the internet. Thank you so much. Subscribed
Very informative without too much fluff, very too the point for everything with lots of good experienced suggestions. Loved it.
Fantastic newbies guide! Basically completely sold me on getting a resin printer for all the little projects that I have in mind. If I lived in USA, I'd even use your affiliate links. Thanks!
Man I'm so excited, this is exactly the type of video I was hoping to find!!! Thank you so much!!
Wow GREAT video. Thank you so much!! New sub
This is one of the most helpful videos I’ve ever watched! Thank you and keep up the great work!
Really high-quality video. I appreciate the graphics during descriptions. Totally not necessary, but really nice.
I rarely comment on videos. But I felt compelled on this one. Great job! Ultra informative.
You’re the dude.. thanks for the help. Blessings on you and yours.
Thanks, you too!
Great video. Thanks!
A huge huge thankyou for this video! So helpful and easy to understand for this noob 😉 . You have a new subscriber for sure!
