I have the M5s and Mono 2, very happy with them considering I upgraded from the older Mono. The Saturn 3 Ultra and Mars 4 probably would have been the better combo for only slightly more money, but at this point all printers are so much better than what they were 5 years ago that you really can't go wrong regardless of what brand you pick. Even the cheap Mono 2 produces beautiful prints. While the M5s technically produces the worst quality prints in this head to head, the print quality is still really good. Without magnification the prints on all these printers are very similar to the naked eye, especially after you paint them.
I’ve got the m5s for 400 with 1kg of fast resin and 2 air pure filters and was planing to return it. But I gave it a chance and after some calibration tests I’ve got incredible results. Even with the ugly acf semi transparent film. No idea why. But good surprise.
out of curiosity, what settings did you go with? i picked up the M5s as well with the fast resin, and also grabbed an extra vat with nfep incase i want better quality.
Picked up an S3Ultra and its amazing thus far! Sharpness is awesome, regardless of ACF, barely can find layer lines anywhere! Thanks for your fantastic info and hard work!
I stuck with the M5S, and with ACF didn't had failures of sticking to it or not sticking to the plate, with the settings they offer on the AC website. I did get fast and succesful prints at 30um an 50um with AC ABS-Like, i had it set to 2.6s exposure, an 360mm/min lift speed, so most likely it was maxed out at whatever the motor speed was and printed fine. But as said here and every review the ACF leaves a small texture all over the print, it is barely visible imo, but it does affect some small details that might affect some minis. for bigger prints, and especially mechanical/engineering stuff, i dont really see it as a big negative Once I switched to nFEP i had to drop the lift speed to around 60-100mm/min, same exposure times, but more failures because the nFEP at this area size is way stickier than ACF. I did preorder it so i got it for 420$, hence way i stuck with it, Saturn 5(ultra) had more expensive pre-orders
I have the Saturn 3 ultra and i like it, Wifi was a big selling point for me as i hate those little usb drives that fail anyways. I did have a fep failure and I am about to try the fep from the saturn 3 myself to see if i can see the difference (I prefer quality over speed anyways). Thanks for the comparison video!
Finally, the comparisons we've been hungering for! Thanks for the video. I'm kind of glad I don't live in the UK and am thus immune to the desire to try Wargamer resin. Can't be envious if it's impossible to have it.
Very good comparison video, it sure does look like the Ultra has the upper hand here. I have the M5s on a deal and seems to be nice for my larger prints. I have had no issues with Wifi, worked right away out the box in my garage, picked up wifi in the house fine too.
@@MsDokaman I think it goes without saying much other than the Saturn 3. The extensive tests show that the M5s is not all that sharp in details however either will be good as I have done some very detailed prints. The speed thing is not worth it as without the expensive resin for it, its hit n miss pushing the speeds up.
Thanks for the video. I'm getting into the market for a resin printer and am now debating one of these vs Uniformation GK2. How would you rate the Uniformation against these 4?
Let me get this right.... the M5s features of auto-level and print failure detection get over shadowed by the rubber feet on the Saturn?? The print quality is compared between machines using different resins completely even though you state that even the speed of the printer is determined by the resin and NOT the machine. Wouldn't the same be true about the printed item as well??
Well I was gonna reply and say no the features aren’t outweighs by little rubber feet but actually, in reflection, yeah they kinda are. What those feet show is that Elegoo have chosen the right components to build their machine this time round, where Elegoo have cheapened out. As for the resin, yes. The resin is more responsible for speed and quality than the printer. But…! The resin used in the M5 printers is some of the sharpest resin out there. Those test rrsults should have been sharper by that difference alone. But they aren’t. They are softer than all the 8k printers I’ve tested which did use the same resin. Equally, the typically slightly softer resin I used in the Saturn tests turned out sharper than the tests from 8k printers, likely due to the fresnel lense and such. The be all and end all is, the Saturns are clearly much sharper printers than the M5s. It’s clear to me
I’ve had any Anycubic for years. Could never get the prints to be super nice quality with finer details and sharper edges. No matter how much fine tuning I did. I was thinking of going to a different brand and this convinced me to do so lol
Owned a mono m5s for about a year. It printed well when it did. Ran it mostly non stop and once dialed in only had the occasional failure. After that year mark both the curing station failed and the printer. Customer support asked me to take apart the curing station, put a voltmeter to it, then said they dont have replacement parts and can do nothing about it. Its own power supply fried itself. And they did nothing to replace it. The printer had a massive FEP failure to where the fep leaked, the resin ate into the cheap screen coverings and worked it's way inside the screen. Attempted to take off and replace the screen but 4 screws sheared off from hand loosening them. Making screen replacement impossible and rendering the entire printer unusable. It was a decent printer when it printed but its made with the cheapest parts and replacement and customer support is impossible. It WILL fail at some point. I wont buy from anycubic again.
Have 2 mono x 6k. They both had multiple breaks in the first year. Dealing with their support was a pain. Won’t be purchasing anything from them again.
This video made me cancel my M5s Pro for the Saturn 3 ultra. I would've love the auto bed leveler and the cleaning system that the m5s provides, but I look forward to the higher quality prints
I sell printers for a living and one reason I sell a lot more Anycubic than Elegoo is that you can often get Anycubic well below the recommended or official prices. Also, something you will never get from reviews is that I get more customer returns on Elegoo printers. If the Saturn 2 has the Fresnel lens, then I will be taking another look at those.
@@magomedsamadov4109, I chuckled at your comment at first. Then I re-read what the original comment said and I disagree with your assessment. I believe they sell both Anycubic and Elegoo and simply conveying their experience at this specific location.
hello looking for a resin printer to help me produce High quality and detailed wargaming minis for a game I am creating I am looking for quality and not how fast I can pump them out at first.. and the corresponding software as well so i can take drawn images and turn them into minis. any info would be appreated
Thanks. Now I don't know what printer to buy. :D But maybe is should get the Saturn 3 Ultra. But I can't use you ref links since shareasale links get filtered by almost all privacy filters for a reason...
I was going to choose elegoo since i knew nothing about resin printers and i get my filament cheap from elegoo so i thoutht i want a elegoo but i saw anycube also has automatic feed pump
between all my purchases I've always been burnt one way or another with Anycubic printers. My M5s will be the last Anycubic printer I buy. Autoleveling sounds amazing until it isn't. While I'm not a big fan of Elegoo's ball joint, you can actually mount it at a 90 degree angle to let resin drop off the build plate. I miss that simple design decision.
I've got a small print farm going and it was getting a bit much for my 2 mono 2's fomoed on a sat3u that came up on eBay and the wireless/speed/build plate increase has been a saviour. The mono 2 is a a+ starter and produces amazing quality to price but the sat3u is a beast.
I have been in LOVE with this series of reviews! I feel like you give very detailed reviews without nitpicking, and the way you edit the videos is the visual equivalent of cutting butter (smooth). I'm already a big elegoo fan, but this just solidified it, I'm totally saving up to get the 3 ultra!
Just became a member, thanks for the video! Planning on getting the Saturn 3 Ultra for printing and painting miniatures. How does the Saturn 3 hold up against the Mars 4 Ultra or any another $400-$600 Resin printer. This will be my first 3D printer, looking for something somewhat on the easier side of use for beginners. Also Faux where do you like to get your models from?
Welcome!!! Great pick, yeah I’d say the Saturn 3 ultra is the best in that price range easily. Though based on some reports, you may need to replace the ACF film with NFEP film for the best detail. It worked for me and I’ve seen pics from people which echo that statement but others who get lines on their prints… I get most of my models direct from the creators, but MyMiniFactory is one of the best places online
I really wanted to order the mars 4 ultra because of the Pixel size. Also I don't need big print area since I always just print small figures. Buying a bigger printer like saturn 3 ultra means more costs in every aspect. The printer itself but also new films or a new display if something breaks. BUT I do want to best possible quality...so as I understood I should buy the saturn 3 or saturn 3 ultra with extra Film.
Thanks for the comparisons you've been making. I'd initially ordered an M5s, but after seeing these vídeos I ordered two Saturn 2 ultras and am probably going to be sending the M5s back when it arrives. Or I might keep it to run a few comparison tests myself, then either sell it cheap to a friend or give into my daughter's to play with so they don't touch my Saturns. I wonder why your vídeos and Vogmans vídeos are almost polar opposites when it comes to the comparison of the M5s and the 3 Ultra. He seems to favor the M5s, and you, the Ultra.
If you do run some comparisons I’d love to heard your experience with whatever resin you use. I stand by my words as I basically just say what I see. But I’m quite isolated when making a summary judgement
Very good video it really helped me to make a decision to purchase the Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra because it has the largest build plate out of all the printers on the market without having to comprimise the price. Elegoo is selling it to me off of Amazon for $629.00 plus 2 - 1kg of $30.00 resin for free.
Hi, can i ask you for help @FauxHammer ? Now i´m choosing my first resin printer. I´m making models in 1/160, mostly for trains (i have production of photoetched models). What yould be good for me, Mars 5 Ultra, Photon M5s or anything else? Probably i don´t want to print much bigger things, train car have about 15cm dimensions, so Mars will fit acuratly. I want something that is not hard to do with. I don´t have so much time to spend trying to make everything work. Thank you a lot 🙂
The WIFI connection on the M5s is difficult, but becomes less so after the initial setup. You can save your STLs to your phone, do your final slicing, and send the results directly to the printer. I have had 10-12 consecutive good prints so far using the fast resin. However, the prints are quite brittle, and when I tried to fit pieces together in one of my models, I broke part of the model. I reprinted and it happened again. I am more interested in using apps like Scaniverse to make 3-D models from the phone camera, so I am looking for speed and size. And the M5s seems fine so far; though, I could use more z-height. I have not tried using a third party slicer yet; from the way the monitor app works, I have a notion that if I go through it, I may have to pass everything through its slicer. Could this be? Probably not.... Anyway, the problem with the M5s is the WIFI setup. As for the monitor app, I have heard several people say on RUclips that there are two apps, one of which works. I don't know which I have, actually. I think I may have the one that is not supposed to work. I will have to look into that.
Just as an FYI, the Anycubic Photon M3 Premium has LRL. I know it's not compared here and I also know they are seemingly dropping support for the m3 premium (Can't find them anywhere) and both my original and replacement screens went out within 6 months of owning the thing.
@@FauxHammer I would agree, though I had 2 screens go bad on me in 6 months. Support said I'm SOL so now I'm weighing whether I buy a new screen or a new brand of printer!
I have a monox and a mono x 6k and just got my first elegoo. The ultra and honestly it's better. I love the mono x so dependable, (6k has inconsistencies print to print) But the ultra is great and has so many quality of life features. Granted I have only a half dozen trays off of it.
My Neptune 4 plus has been a nightmare. Stock files print great. Anything else is pretty well junk. Ive been waiting for over a week to get a response from customer service. Money wasted.
Really like your videos, but what is the obsession with the screen size vs pixel size. Every single video is the same constant explanation. We really get it. Let's move on...please
I know, you’re right. I was watching these back the other day and had the same realisation. It’s because I have a few shorts and every day, literally every day I see 2 or more comments across them telling me 8k is 8k no matter your printer. I’m gonna make a separate video to explain this and in future, refer people to that. Expect this to keep happening til that comes, but as soon as it does. Yep, trust me, I’m more done with saying it than you’re done with listening to it.
Voxeldance Tango slicer does support network sending - but you might need to update to the latest version, rather than the one available from Elegoo and I use the vat (and sheet) from the Saturn 2 on my Saturn 3 Ultra - so I get the best of both worlds - I have a vat with ACF, and one with PFA - depending on if I want speed or sharpness.
I came to the comments as soon as I heard him say that and was shocked how long it took me to find a comment like this one. Could be that there isn't a huge overlap between the two audiences even though 3D printing while watching satirical movie reviews is tight!
I think for me adhesion with the etched surface was never the issue, I just far prefer flex plate to help ensure I don't accidentally launch a print when scrapping it off the plate. There are sometimes those certain prints that just stick so much harder to the plate, and when they finally release I'd hate to launch a print I just made for someone across the room
Great last and definitive review!! it help me a lot to get my decision, sadly the saturn 3 ultra doesn't arrive in my country, but still will get the saturn 3. Thanks!
I was disappointed to learn about the Mars Mate Air purifier. Besides a proper review you have in store for that, can you also tell us if Elegoo offers replacement filters? I was looking for an eternity everywhere online and couldn't find anything. I wasn't going to buy it it until I knew that tidbit. If this one isn't good, I would very much appreciate recommendations.
I bought a Mars2 when they first came out. Was my first resin printer. I'm not buying another until they add screen protection as standard. There is zero reason to have the screen touching the FEP other than being designed to fail. Like most other people, I stuck a second FEP sheet over the screen to protect it... after I realised it was being damaged. Zero loss in quality or extra print failures.
If the Saturn 3 ultra had the normal fresnel technology with the clear plate, I would pay the extra for it. I do not really care about speed, but things like the internet, etc, sound very nice. However, I do not want to play the lottery and maybe not get lucky and get a worse quality than with the saturn 3, while paying more for it.
@@FauxHammer Thank you for the answer. This would be my first 3d printer, so I have never hold any of the elements in my hand. I wasn't aware that the vat and the sheet are separated.
i love my ultra! only the acf died during the 2nd validation matrix bc there was a little fail from the first print left. gotta say i have the nfep vat bought and could just swap out the vat and oh boy the ultra with nfep is just insane (printing wicked3d witcher diorama rn) and elegoo service is amazing too
Are any of Anycubic's offerings worthwhile? Elegoo and Phrozen do not ship to NZ and I'm not enthusiastic about about paying a reseller a significant markup
ill never use a printer with a ball joint for leveling the build plate like the saturn 3. It is a terrible design, it consistently gets knocked and needs re-leveling. 4 screws please. Just level it ONCE and it never has to be leveled again, ever. I can't believe a build plate with a ball joint still exists, it's just terrible.
Lol LrL tech. Finally some Darpa trickle down! Great review but I'm still on the fence about rectangular pixels, like even Mario was made of squares. Maybe I'm just a conservative.. .
Look at all that scraping and mess your making without a flex plate, not to mention the posibility of accidently flicking a fragile model on to the table, let alone across the room (7:55 > 7:58, you literally fling a piece out of shot at a speed that my eye can barely follow???). I can pull my flex plate off the print surface while its attatched to the printer, keeping all left over resin on top of the build plate in the printer. Then I can just flex all the pieces straight into my wash and cure machine, I also sell miniatures and other things as a small business and I can tell ya it saves a heap of time, on top of the other bonuses. "Waste of money" for an objectively useful part is a bit funny considering we are speaking about hobbys, as well as printers that cost up to $800 AUD, sparing not even $20 AUD in some cases for a flex plate that improves the experience so much is a bit of a nonconformist mind set for the sake of it in my conformist sheep brain opinion. Trust me, I know im coming across butt burt at a throw away comment, but it has genuinely made my experience with resin printers so much better, increasing speed at which I can switch prints, clean prints and makes it easier for me to keep those smaller pieces in tact through out the support removal process.
I got in early on the M5s at $399 so that's great value for me. Added the M5 vat for when I need detail. I'm not locked in on printing miniatures so the detail in my eyes is amazing
I ordered an M5S a few days ago and it is on its way...now I am having second thoughts and I am considering returning it for a refund and going for the Saturn 3/Ultra....I don't want to end up with buyers remorse months after the fact....
My m5s auto levelling is malfunctioning and the center neck peice in the build plate is 2mm to short so nothing sticks to the build plate only the vat! The fans are so loud you cant here your tv or have it running throughout the night itll drive you bonkers! I have had the anycubic technicians emailing and getting video's back from whats happening they are trying to find a fix but they have sent out the new re designed build plate for it that can be set level to the screen when home the plate! There is a quick fix just now on printables some nice person has re designed the original build plate and the 3 separate parts it bolts up in! This has solved my issue's with the auto levelling and the build plate adhesion! It confirms the central neck peice thats bolted to the plate itself is 2mm short and lifts 2mm at the rear out the box and nearly went through the screen! Honestly save your soul.and pennies get.the saturn 3 ultra! Check the m5s anycubic reddit we are all on just now with exactly the same issues! We are beta testers for anycubic just now and they have re designed a version 2 build plate they are sending out to customers!
As I watched this video through. I am in the market for a resin printer a little backstory I am coming from fdm sovol sv06 Plus I was going to purchase a bamboo Labs p1s or X1. However I would really like to make statues that I paint like those of Epic statues what are the trade-offs of getting the larger resin printers? I would like to be able to print a six to eight inch tall statue and I am willing to pay up to 1k for a quality printer that can do that, any recommendations?
Hi I am still researching what to buy as I am an N gauge railway modeller, and my son is a v keen Warhammer player/builder, so is also interested. He reccomeded your chjannel and it has been v helpful in educating me as to what I should buy. Please keep up the great content.
I love my anycubic photon 3 premium what I don’t love is them not have replacement screens available, unfortunately it was my first and will most likely be my last anycubic printers. I’ve had zero issues with it and it’s actually my first printer. Thanks to you and a few other in the community I was able to get my poop in a pile and print some good quality minis. Thanks for your content it is appreciated 👍🏻👌🏻🍻 keep it up !
In the market to replace my photon D2, is there any reason to try and stick with a dlp printer again?? Bigger build area is enticing, and that Saturn ultra looks pretty decent
Well you have answered my question, do I upgrade my Saturn 2 to an Ultra … no, I will be upgrading my Mars 2 to a 4, but changing the FEP. These fast printers are fine if you run a print business and are happy to produce average detailed prints, but the saving of an hour or so just isn’t worth the loss of detail for me. I buy designs like Brutefun miniatures for the detail they put in and I want those crisp lines. Thank you, though I’m not sure it will win you any favours with the manufacturers 😂
Hey FauxHammer. Let's just say a printer for minis between 28-75mm and all I care about is quality and detail. Speed doesn't matter to me. Elagoo, Phrozen or (another brand I might not know) for what I want? I like the comparisons but I would like to know about specifically detail and who right now is the best choice under around $1000
Very good comparison and I especially like that you point out that this 8K, 12K, 14K marketing blaablaa is ridiculous as the real pixel size counts for details. And it is always good to mention that the resin does have a great impact on your print quality just like the filament quality for FDM printer. Thanks for the video.
I ended up with a free mars 4 max because it was damaged. it printed great for a couple weeks now im pretty sure the damage has caught up to it and i cant get a successful print at all. so here we are back to the drawing board. this is a really tough choice...or is it? are they both amazing and im lucky to be starting this hobby now instead of 5 years ago? idk what to do :(
I just got the Mars 4 and did the test print… The printer displayed that it “finished” but the print was only about 90% done when I pulled it off the plate… Does the printer automatically set the height parameters for a print from the file or could I possibly have a unintentional height limit set on the machine?? Sorry if my question doesn’t make sense, I have only been doing this for 1 day 😅
looking forward to this...... since saturn 3 (non ultra) comes with the nfep, it proberly have the best quality print...... that would be where my money is.... the acf film thingy seems to be a bit of gamble... some get a good acf film... others... oh dear
Uniformation GKtwo. I can’t live with out the quality of life features on it. If they can do it, these companies can too. I’ll be using the GKtwo for forever. Orrrr until one of these brands figures out how to put everything on the front and incorporate a heater as well. For me, this makes all of the difference and is worth the expense.
Beige sunlu abs like works great for the high speed its like water this is what I'm using just now its alot thinner than the grey and now i have had to 3D print a replacement part for the m5s build plate to get the correct home hight for auto levelling till the version 2 build plate arrives i atleast have it working just now! M5s build plate and spacers on printables if need a fix till anycubic sends your new build plate out!
i have watched so many of your videos and I don't even have a printer... I might not even buy one for a year or more, because I am moving 6,000 miles away from where I currently live in the next year, but I figured, "here is my comment". Keep making videos, i will eventually get into the hobby... to support my other hobby.
buckled after watching these videos for 2 months. Saturn 3 via affliate link. Thank you so much for all your time doing these videos. P.S. We need that Wargamer Resin in the states.
Bought a Sarurn 3 ultra. Using castable purple resin from 2 manufacturers. DOESN'T HARDEN ANY RESIN AT ALL.! Seem with these printers there is no customer service. You're basically on your own. Take 2 weeks to get any response to email only. I feel like I bought a 600 dollar paper weight. I could go through to weeks of setting and print trails. But it literally will not harden resin at all. I'm at a loss! Wish there was a 800 number for help!
Castable resins typically have much higher curing times than other resins, I've seen upwards of 7s for 7 micron layers. have you done exposure tests? also there are a few resins on the markert, a small few that work at a different wavelength to these printers...
@@FauxHammer yes.. several times ran exposure up to 15 seconds with syertech purple. Won't even harden in vat on cleaning mode or at all. Light seems to be working in all respects(watched without vat or palate on)
It must surely be the wavelength of your resin. Are you sure it’s printer resin. Sorry I’m not trying to be condescending. I’ve seen a lot here, but never a printer that can’t harden resin.
@FauxHammer I can't thank you enough for your time on this. But at this point after talking to resin manufacturers with serial numbers of resin. It's either the light source doesn't work with that resin from 2 manufacturers even though they advertise it does, and they have specific specs for that printer to do so. o Or it's a bad printer in general. The one I have anyway. I'm going to get a new printer and different resin again. See where that goes. It's a shame but seems like the only path forward at this point. I would think with this newer emerging technology they would have at least a 800 number or some type of support. Js
I for one, absolutely thank you for your raw honesty in reviewing the printers, and telling me what they can do, what they do really well, and areas they are lacking. This helps me TREMENDOUSLY to choose 'which resin is right for my desires?" - and spot on, I have a hard time finding others that will be this critical and do this level of testing. So thank you. When I do buy my printer, whatever it may be, I will find a way to get some money to you, be it an affiliate link, or a donation or whatever. I am still a ways off picking which one, but you 100% are helping me. -- side note I get terrible buyers remorse on things like this, so I tend to take a long time to pick one, and by the time I got around to resins, 3 more generation of resin printers came out that were ALL better than my previous selections, so it is a slow process. Few questions Remain though: Can you use the Deeper Vat from the Anycubic- on the Saturn 3 Ultra? The geometry of the elegoo's seem identicle, are their red and black hoods exchangable? (I'd personally want a red hood, but this is such a minor thing) Other than that, for these particular printers... I am leaning on the Ultra. Now I just have to compare that with some others that have like, heated chambers for vat warming... and if that is something I will need, and the like.
i feel like the mars air thing would be good if it was water proof and can be ran out a window or onto a balcony or something like that so it can pump air out side
I ordered my saturn 3 ultra before this video came out ( it hasn't arrived yet ) and was a bit worried when I first clicked on the video if I had made the wrong choice but it seems I have made the perfect choice.
So have you tested whether the acf films on the ultra are the key? Can I buy the elegoo brand acf and get better detail on an m5s? I havent really had trouble on my m5s in terms of detail or sticking to the plate. After some calibration it prints a 50 50 mix of siraya fast navy grey and 3dmaterials superfast black really well. But i turned the speeds down until i can buy the proprietary ultra fast resin made for acf film Also has anyone figured out how to NOT use photon workshop and still get a file that the anycubic cloud app will recognize? I use ctbpro with the anycubic plugin but i have to use usb because the cloud app doesnt recognize the filetype it spits out. Even though it works on the printer just fine.

Buy WARGAMER - The best Resin for Miniatures yesthats3dprinted.com/pages/wargamer?ref=FauxHammer
Please tell me what resin you used? Name brand and exact name of resin model. thanks
Thanks for the comment here as I am new to resin and I'm about to do my first print with the M5s and I don't want to return it.
Lol....sounds right though. I would probably be fine with last year's models. Still printing FDM and still printing on an original Ender 3.
Great to hear!
But as said here and every review the ACF leaves a small texture all over the print, it is barely visible imo, but it does affect some small details that might affect some minis. for bigger prints, and especially mechanical/engineering stuff, i dont really see it as a big negative
Once I switched to nFEP i had to drop the lift speed to around 60-100mm/min, same exposure times, but more failures because the nFEP at this area size is way stickier than ACF.
I did preorder it so i got it for 420$, hence way i stuck with it, Saturn 5(ultra) had more expensive pre-orders
I didnt think it was posible to get such speeds from ABS like, can you share the resin profile for photon workshop please?
I have the Saturn 3 ultra and i like it, Wifi was a big selling point for me as i hate those little usb drives that fail anyways. I did have a fep failure and I am about to try the fep from the saturn 3 myself to see if i can see the difference (I prefer quality over speed anyways). Thanks for the comparison video!
I hope to confirm that choosing the Saturn 3 Ultra is a good choice for high-precision printing.
Finally, the comparisons we've been hungering for! Thanks for the video. I'm kind of glad I don't live in the UK and am thus immune to the desire to try Wargamer resin. Can't be envious if it's impossible to have it.
We’ll get it to EU & US ASAP
Very good comparison video, it sure does look like the Ultra has the upper hand here. I have the M5s on a deal and seems to be nice for my larger prints. I have had no issues with Wifi, worked right away out the box in my garage, picked up wifi in the house fine too.
Same. I don't think he's doing the WiFi correctly. Also the detail is stunning even on tiny tiny prints.
Please tell me which one is better for jewelry and small details?
@@MsDokaman I think it goes without saying much other than the Saturn 3. The extensive tests show that the M5s is not all that sharp in details however either will be good as I have done some very detailed prints. The speed thing is not worth it as without the expensive resin for it, its hit n miss pushing the speeds up.
New challenger approaches, can't wait for Elegoo Saturn 4/ultra reviews in a couple of months
Any chance of reviewing the Creality?
Thanks for the video. I'm getting into the market for a resin printer and am now debating one of these vs Uniformation GK2. How would you rate the Uniformation against these 4?
@FauxHammer and community
How would the Anycubic Photon Mono M5s Pro stack up to these elegoo's??
Great review. I appreciate the breakdown across 4 printers.
Thanks I love doing stuff like this
Fantastic review and comparison!! Thank you for taking the time to put this comparison together.
Did you really sneak in a Pitch Meeting reference at 8:01.....................?
OH, REALLY?!
When is the Wargamer Resin coming to the US?!
I hope you will manage to start selling your resin in EU ;)
It looks interesting to test!
I hope so too! Working on it
@@FauxHammer please tell about that in videos, when you managed to do that :) really want to try ;)
@@virrcraft oh I will
This video made me cancel my M5s Pro for the Saturn 3 ultra. I would've love the auto bed leveler and the cleaning system that the m5s provides, but I look forward to the higher quality prints
4:28 The belly of wisdom😆
I sell printers for a living and one reason I sell a lot more Anycubic than Elegoo is that you can often get Anycubic well below the recommended or official prices. Also, something you will never get from reviews is that I get more customer returns on Elegoo printers. If the Saturn 2 has the Fresnel lens, then I will be taking another look at those.
Do you know what vat tanks are compatible with Saturn 3 ultra? Is Saturn 2 vat compatible to 3 ultra? Thank you!
Раз Ввы зарабатываете продажами Anykubik то в Ваших интересах говорить плохо про Elegoo
@@magomedsamadov4109, I chuckled at your comment at first. Then I re-read what the original comment said and I disagree with your assessment. I believe they sell both Anycubic and Elegoo and simply conveying their experience at this specific location.
that's really interesting
hello looking for a resin printer to help me produce High quality and detailed wargaming minis for a game I am creating I am looking for quality and not how fast I can pump them out at first.. and the corresponding software as well so i can take drawn images and turn them into minis. any info would be appreated
Sometimes you can. Depends on the plate mounting shape.
Any chance of a Saturn ultra vs mono M7 pro? looking to make a purchase and pricing very similar atm
Hiya, I hope this is in a decent order for you and helps with your question
www.fauxhammer.com/top-10/the-best-3d-printer-for-miniatures-models/
I have been in LOVE with this series of reviews! I feel like you give very detailed reviews without nitpicking, and the way you edit the videos is the visual equivalent of cutting butter (smooth). I'm already a big elegoo fan, but this just solidified it, I'm totally saving up to get the 3 ultra!
Thank you so much!
It worked for me and I’ve seen pics from people which echo that statement but others who get lines on their prints…
I get most of my models direct from the creators, but MyMiniFactory is one of the best places online
@@FauxHammer Thanks for the reply? Is there any resources you can point me to on how to replace ACF film with NFEP film?
But I’m quite isolated when making a summary judgement
the one who paid for a dinner later is the one who dancing a lady :)
Very good video it really helped me to make a decision to purchase the Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra because it has the largest build plate out of all the printers on the market without having to comprimise the price.
Elegoo is selling it to me off of Amazon for $629.00 plus 2 - 1kg of $30.00 resin for free.
gald it helped. but before you wade in, have you seen the Saturn 4?
Hi, can i ask you for help @FauxHammer ? Now i´m choosing my first resin printer. I´m making models in 1/160, mostly for trains (i have production of photoetched models). What yould be good for me, Mars 5 Ultra, Photon M5s or anything else? Probably i don´t want to print much bigger things, train car have about 15cm dimensions, so Mars will fit acuratly. I want something that is not hard to do with. I don´t have so much time to spend trying to make everything work. Thank you a lot 🙂
Heya, I'd say, Saturn 4 or 4 UIltra. Much sharper. at that scale it;s more detailed.
Does any of these Elegoo feature heaters?
Important for us living in colder parts of the world! :)
.
(also a cookie for Al Gore's Rythm)
Nope none of them do. But Elegoo’s upcoming heater is compatible with both
Still waiting for next year's round of printers.
Just as an FYI, the Anycubic Photon M3 Premium has LRL. I know it's not compared here and I also know they are seemingly dropping support for the m3 premium (Can't find them anywhere) and both my original and replacement screens went out within 6 months of owning the thing.
yeah the M3 Premium was an incredible printer, they canned it far too early
@@FauxHammer I would agree, though I had 2 screens go bad on me in 6 months. Support said I'm SOL so now I'm weighing whether I buy a new screen or a new brand of printer!
Any chance you are are going to review the Mighty 12k? I havent heard any complaints about them so far, other than the install is a problem.
Already done, just need to edit the video
I have a monox and a mono x 6k and just got my first elegoo. The ultra and honestly it's better. I love the mono x so dependable, (6k has inconsistencies print to print) But the ultra is great and has so many quality of life features. Granted I have only a half dozen trays off of it.
My Neptune 4 plus has been a nightmare. Stock files print great. Anything else is pretty well junk. Ive been waiting for over a week to get a response from customer service. Money wasted.
Sorry to hear that
Really like your videos, but what is the obsession with the screen size vs pixel size.
As soon as I get the money I go for the saturn 3 ultra :)
Smootg brain here. Comoaring 4 printers at once with slightly different names is really confusing.😅
Yeah I’ve messed up loads since referring to the wrong one
Voxeldance Tango slicer does support network sending - but you might need to update to the latest version, rather than the one available from Elegoo
and I use the vat (and sheet) from the Saturn 2 on my Saturn 3 Ultra - so I get the best of both worlds - I have a vat with ACF, and one with PFA - depending on if I want speed or sharpness.
Ah, as I said, I’m not a fan of that software so haven’t even bothered looking that hard
Which one is best for accuracy and maintaining????
Elegooo Saturn or Anycubic?????
Saturn
Well great video but i still cant decide between saturn ultra a m5s. Ideal will be saturn ultra with autoleveling function😂
Saturn ultra, easily
Gotta throw your props for the Pitch Meeting reference. Its super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I agree with you: I don’t care what ppl say, but I love my flex plate!
I'm with you. I have a flex plate on my Mono 6k and I would hate to lose it. It will be the first thing I buy on a new printer.
Great last and definitive review!! it help me a lot to get my decision, sadly the saturn 3 ultra doesn't arrive in my country, but still will get the saturn 3. Thanks!
Glad I could help! Thank you for your kind words
Not so far nope, and that’s another point covered in my review
Wonderful review! Definitely going for Elegoo Ultra!
@FauxHammer Could you please share the settings for Saturn 3 chitubox?
I just bought mine, and i use siraya fast tech 4k resin
The Ultra has a sharper display, and you will need to replace your release film at some point anyway.
@@FauxHammer Thank you for the answer. This would be my first 3d printer, so I have never hold any of the elements in my hand. I wasn't aware that the vat and the sheet are separated.
@@JackDespero no worries, we don't know what we don't know untilo we know it.
Thanks for the info,
i love my ultra! only the acf died during the 2nd validation matrix bc there was a little fail from the first print left. gotta say i have the nfep vat bought and could just swap out the vat and oh boy the ultra with nfep is just insane (printing wicked3d witcher diorama rn)
and elegoo service is amazing too
Just out of curiosity, is the Saturn 3 tank the same as the Ultra tank?
@@scottybruce4302 and the same as the saturn 2
Right on. And yeah that is a steal of a price to be honest, Iike I said in the intro, None of them are "bad" printers.
@@FauxHammer I'm just waiting for AC to announce a retrofit fresnel lense and then we'll be sorted

My m5s auto levelling is malfunctioning and the center neck peice in the build plate is 2mm to short so nothing sticks to the build plate only the vat! The fans are so loud you cant here your tv or have it running throughout the night itll drive you bonkers! This has solved my issue's with the auto levelling and the build plate adhesion!

I love my anycubic photon 3 premium what I don’t love is them not have replacement screens available, unfortunately it was my first and will most likely be my last anycubic printers. I’ve had zero issues with it and it’s actually my first printer. Thanks to you and a few other in the community I was able to get my poop in a pile and print some good quality minis. Thanks for your content it is appreciated 👍🏻👌🏻🍻 keep it up !
is the saturn 3 ultra able to print slow enough to use fep?
Yes
Sorry if my question doesn’t make sense, I have only been doing this for 1 day 😅
Just pull the anycubic out by the bag, that's what I do. Put it on floor and lift, slides out brilliant
Does anyone here know if the Linant 3D base pro compares to the quality of these printers? I’m looking to print figurines
looking forward to this...... since saturn 3 (non ultra) comes with the nfep, it proberly have the best quality print...... that would be where my money is.... the acf film thingy seems to be a bit of gamble... some get a good acf film... others... oh dear
Uniformation GKtwo. I can’t live with out the quality of life features on it. If they can do it, these companies can too. I’ll be using the GKtwo for forever. Orrrr until one of these brands figures out how to put everything on the front and incorporate a heater as well. For me, this makes all of the difference and is worth the expense.
one big mistake m5s, you can also change the exposure time and lifting speed, etc. Maybe I misunderstood you that only ultra has this option...
Unless the GK2 wants to hit that $500 price point for black Friday, the S3U it is! Thx!
Thanks for the review and avoid buying crappy addons !
I have invested in a good room ventilation.
i have watched so many of your videos and I don't even have a printer... I might not even buy one for a year or more, because I am moving 6,000 miles away from where I currently live in the next year, but I figured, "here is my comment". Keep making videos, i will eventually get into the hobby... to support my other hobby.
I understand and thanks so much for watching, even without a printer. Hope the move goes well
buckled after watching these videos for 2 months.
It's either the light source doesn't work with that resin from 2 manufacturers even though they advertise it does, and they have specific specs for that printer to do so. o
Or it's a bad printer in general.
Few questions Remain though:
Can you use the Deeper Vat from the Anycubic- on the Saturn 3 Ultra?
The geometry of the elegoo's seem identicle, are their red and black hoods exchangable? (I'd personally want a red hood, but this is such a minor thing)
Other than that, for these particular printers... I am leaning on the Ultra. Now I just have to compare that with some others that have like, heated chambers for vat warming... and if that is something I will need, and the like.
Yes, the carbon filters do remove VOC, I have tested it by measuring the VOC in the air before and after.
i feel like the mars air thing would be good if it was water proof and can be ran out a window or onto a balcony or something like that so it can pump air out side
I want to make heads for figures that have great detail. It can be slow and does not have to be big. Which one is best?
I ordered my saturn 3 ultra before this video came out ( it hasn't arrived yet ) and was a bit worried when I first clicked on the video if I had made the wrong choice but it seems I have made the perfect choice.
So have you tested whether the acf films on the ultra are the key? Can I buy the elegoo brand acf and get better detail on an m5s?
I havent really had trouble on my m5s in terms of detail or sticking to the plate. After some calibration it prints a 50 50 mix of siraya fast navy grey and 3dmaterials superfast black really well. But i turned the speeds down until i can buy the proprietary ultra fast resin made for acf film
Also has anyone figured out how to NOT use photon workshop and still get a file that the anycubic cloud app will recognize? I use ctbpro with the anycubic plugin but i have to use usb because the cloud app doesnt recognize the filetype it spits out. Even though it works on the printer just fine.
i bought saturn 3 ultra ,, im very satisfied , very fast print , stable linear no printlines and good UI screen .
