Very important note when installing the stock cpu fan: there is only one way to install it which is by applying pressure on the back plate of the mother board ( black metal plate found behind the motherboard) then start screwing and applying pressure starting from top right corner then bottom left and so on. Do not screw one screw at once try equally distribute it. thank me later 😉

The last time I built a PC it was with a third-generation Intel i5 CPU. Those stock coolers were absolutely garbage - crappy plastic pushpins that basically disintegrate themselves if you ever need to take the cooler off. These Ryzen coolers are a godsend compared to those, and I love that a backplate is standard hardware instead of something reserved for aftermarket coolers. Good stuff, and great guide.

Yesterday I spent like an hour trying to put the damn thing in. The backplate wasn't even behind the motherboard. It fell off onto the table. I had to lean the entire tower on the cpu box at the backplate to keep the backplate up. Laying it on the table wouldnt work. It's the 5600x. The temps literally idle at 95 degrees C. I went to bed, wake up, turn computer off of sleep mode, immediately go into cote temp checker and it's still 95. If I open a game it's still right about 95. The pc is slow so it might actually be thermal throttling? Or it could be a bad sensor. The air also doesn't feel hot from the cpu.

Hello I have a question. If the cooler comes with pre applied thermal paste (like the stock cooler) does that still mean we have to find thermal paste from a store and apply it?

    • @ScottsPC

No.... But it's always a good idea to have some spare thermal paste if you make a mistake... Good luck to you! ⚡️

Thanx for the tutorial! You have helped me a lot, but there is one thing I am still confused about: what motherboard to choose? On the market there are motherboards on which Wraith Stealth can not be installed without blocking the nearest memory slot. The best would be to go for a micro ATX motherboard with 2 mem slots. Should I choose an ATX one instead? Thanx!

    Helpful video!
I've done many CPU installs but I wasn't prepared for this one.
I had my board already in the case and when I noticed I had to remove those black clips I did.
Didn't realize I lost the back plate and was having an impossible time with the screws.
Had put the back plate back into place and use my wife to hold it.
Only question now is if the thermal paste application is still okay after all that mucking around.
    Might have to reapply it.
I'll test thermals tomorrow and stress test.
    Thanks for the video!

well im taking out the gpu and the cpu with the cooler(of a 5600g prebuilt for 600) into a new one just mainly for the better airflow and looks too but it makes is possible for a high end gpu in the future for me, didn't see much videos on this part for it. and my parts are coming in Thursday the main one i was worried about was the mobo and being compatible with my cpu, luckily i found one that did say 5000 series compatible and has bios flashback so really i hope i don't brick it but thank you for showing this step

What steps are taken after installing a cpu? Say upgrading a Ryzen 7 3700x to a Ryzen 9 5900x? Meaning anything on the pc software that needs done or changes to drivers?

    • @ScottsPC

I just upgraded from a 2700x to a 5900x a couple days ago. Used my existing x470 motherboard... I had to update the bios because of new generation cpu. I did a lot of research before updating the bios for this Asus motherboard... Didn't want to brick the motherboard... Didn't want to spend extra money on a b550 or x570... 5900x works like a charm... Just be careful if you're gonna use an older generation board like myself.
