To be fair a lot of bus drivers who finish at night drive like this including me, people don't know just how well they handle, RWD and rear engined they stick to the road like glue I always bombed it back to the depot.
I used to work permanent nights and finished around 12.30 to 12.40. At terminating put out lights out of service . Had a cigarette and then foot to floor back to rainham from hainult or grange hill

Best handling buses are the Volvo single deckers because they still use a double decker chassis whilst carrying a single decker body. All buses are virtually impossible to tip over.
Ive driven double deckers and Hats off to him for being able to hold and turn like that at 50mph on narrow roads in places...The best & most entertaining bit of driving I've yet to see.

In the US, the city bus driver's could care less if they're late; they drive REALLY sluggish. The school bus driver's however are salary workers, and drive like bats outta hell!

Mate! I was on the last service, number 75 IIRC from Ecclesfield to Sheffield center driving A Double Decker @ around 11pm. I remember stopping at one stop early on to let a couple on the bus. After that, I was on a mission to get back as quick possible! I didn't see anyone waiting at any bus stops and I hammered it all the way through Burngreave and Pitsmoor into Sheffield center. The couple on my bus that were getting off thanked me for how fast they got into town, shaking my my hand! It's a memory that will always stick with me haha, driving that fast in a bus, wondering how it might of looked from a passersbys perspective or the couple on my bus? Either way, when you're done, you're done! Shift over!

They have pretty much no body roll because of the air suspension and relatively wide tires. They will understeer if pushed too far as most of the weight is at the back. The way this guy is driving is pretty much your standard late night dead run back to the depot.
Not going to lie I ragged one on a country backroad once and was taking bends at 62mph its really fun when you've got nobody onboard and are going back to the depot.

Nah a double decker bus has very low centre of gravity and insane levels of grip, bar a couple of moments in the video pretty much any Bus river will drive like this back to the yard.
Shouldn't admit this; but i too did a similar speed run when i was a driver circa 2001. They actually handle surprisingly well. I had an old coach vantool ex army troop carrier - that when goin down a long hill one time, i hit the limiter at 55mph and there it stayed like it usually does...but 10 seconds later another gear suddenly kicked in... looked down at the speedo that went to 75 and it was off the clock!! Had passengers too but because it was a coach thankfully it wasn't clattering around and nice and smooth so i don't think anyone noticed.

I was once coming home from a late night at the O2 Arena and coming home to Clapham Junction. Decided to take the bus home. Had a driver exactly like this. We were cheering the dude on from the second floor front seats the whole time and thanked him after we got home. From the huge smile on his face, it was clear he was absolutely loving it. Lol.
A bus is actually very well balanced its RWD with a rear engine and twin wheeled axle and it has a low centre of gravity, it sticks to the road like glue with no roll over risk, just be careful of understeer especially on single deckers with the smaller wheels.

That bus was given a good thrashing and personally I love it when buses are being floored on motorways and B-roads. However I do not approve of driving this fast in a built up area. Although he seemed to have had full control and was enjoying himself clearly. But all it takes is for another vehicle or a person to pull out and its game over. When I become a bus driver and when I preserve my own bus. I will always keep to the limits but if I want to trash my bus. I will head back to the depot via the motorway as that is a perfectly safe place to floor your bus. The scream from the gearbox was entertaining though from an enthusiasts point of view. Also a runway on an old disused airfield would be another safe place to thrash a bus :).

Until you drive a double decker bus you have no idea just how well they handle, RWD rear engined and low centre of gravity besides being massive they have all the makings of the perfect sports cars. You can really chuck them about its some of the most fun driving you will ever do. I have driven them out of service loads and it's honestly just brilliant.
Good news its virtually impossible for a bus to tip over due to its incredibly low centre of gravity and they are all tilt tested before release. Having also driven one round twisty country roads at 62mph without issue I can assure you they're not tipping over.

The old busses used to handle really well and the suspension springs was designed to stop the bus from falling on its side during a fast turn

Significant testing on busses to make them nearly impossible to tip, with the tread being really wide means they can grip surprisingly well

Until you drive a double decker bus you have no idea just how well they handle, RWD rear engined and low centre of gravity besides being massive they have all the makings of the perfect sports cars. You can really chuck them about its some of the most fun driving you will ever do. I have driven them out of service loads and it's honestly just brilliant.

Good news its virtually impossible for a bus to tip over due to its incredibly low centre of gravity and they are all tilt tested before release. Having also driven one round twisty country roads at 62mph without issue I can assure you they're not tipping over.
