- We invited @BrewersKitchen from @MTGGoldfish to play Commander but instead of their normal card draw, players may draw from "The Deck", which is composed of all the saltiest cards in the format. BUT if they do, they HAVE TO cast the card!

Its not a hard card to understand. If you would draw a card outside of first draw, rummage instead, if you cant, mill 1

How does it work with Sylvan Library?
@@clockblower6414It's just like banding, once you sit down and read it out it makes sense. It's not something that can really be explained to you.
@@Jedicake Like with any multi-draw, library let you draw 2 extra cards so we get the one we normally get for the turn then we rummage twice (each rummage happens separately, in order) then we may pay 4 life twice, for each time we don't pay we must put a card back on top of the library.
Note that you'd draw your normal card for the turn first so this should never be mill but always double rummage.
And because of how library is worded if you choose to draw twice (hence rummage twice) I believe you only need to pay 4 to leave the one card you still have in your hand in your hand (because it says for each of the chosen cards so that should only happen once when you only have one card)

Well, once you ended up with a dead board, what's the downside?
When Toralf got Gin Gitaxis, Phil HAD to go for the Deck of Doom, because he only had 2 mana to work with, and he needed an answer.
And since Phil got Emrakul followed by the Blightsteel Colussus, everyone else had to hope for a boardwipe from the Deck of Doom-
@couchpotatoe91 Call it a "wild magic deck' and say that once on your own turn as a sorcery you can free cast the top card for like, 2 mana
Still heavily incentives using it without completely turning off everyone's own deck or turning into a random mess after a wipe like what happened here

And I do like that it includes cards that can doom you as well as your opponents. That One With Nothingness was just fantastic.

Play of the Game.
Whenever you would draw a card other than their first draw in the draw step, instead discard a card. If you can't Discard a card mill a card.
If a player discarded a card this way, draw a card.
Which is fun, because then you gift them a Colfenor's Plans, or a Dragon Appeasement, to make sure they don't have a draw step, and can't draw any cards in the future. With for example the use of a Puca's Mischief.
Also Puca's Mischief in conjunction with Maralen the Mornsong, and giving your opponent a Colfenor's Plans, means they don't have any way of playing the game in the first place. And you could easily do that in a Dimir deck, All you need is Maralen, Colfenor's Plans and Puca's Mischief. Then you could easily combine that with Hivemind+One With Nothing. Just for the luls. Making sure your opponent doesn't have any fun at all. Also remember to keep a Bojuka Bog to get rid of their grave.
There's a lot of fun you can have by giving your opponent fun cards.

Very Apropos for the wall deck
Next time, do it more like Planeschase. During your main phase you can roll a d6, on a 6 you get to draw a card from "THE DECK". You can choose to roll again but it costs a cumulative 1 mana each time beyond your first roll on your turn.
This way, you always draw from your deck each turn and if you have extra mana, you can blow it on more chances to draw from the deck.
That's a banger idea. Definitely would spice things up but also let everyone still play their decks

I was so ready for someone to bring in the flowchart when that last card was flipped! Everyone loves simple mechanics, right?
If anyone ever draw cards outside of the one card in their draw step then for each card they'd draw rummage instead (discard then draw)
If they can't- mill 1 instead for each of those cards.
It's not hard it's just worded the worst possible way.
I know the reason of why Phil was so lucky, he had a blue Ultramarine with him and in the setting of 40k it’s a well known fact that Blue is the luckiest color and therefore the ultramarines are the luckiest.
i like that phil has become a regular guest, he really fits in for the more goofy group games

Jamin is just available less often since he manages social media. Thoralf, Fele & I (Carl) are directly involved with the video team and are simply at the office more often, so it simply lines up less that Jamin is around when we record. He's not going anywhere :)

I think it would have worked better if you used something like treasure cruise rules.
- Pay X+1 mana to play from the salt deck, where X is the number of times you've played from the salt deck.
- Roll a d6. 1-5 you play the card. 6 you scry 3 then play a card.
That way you still see the decks people showed up with, with sodium added.
Not that it matters, but in Phil last turn he should have put the 2 permanents his opponent sacrificed under his control. Just to add more salt to the wound, you know...

VIDEO IDEA: Momir in paper, just make make around 13 stacks of like 100+ cards for each mana value 0-12
you could do this in a commander format with 4 players, maybe even with a commander and all lands in ur deck :)
the cards you get to put in the stacks could be randomly selected and you can also do alot with this, like only common or only mythic. or maybe even "only cards
they already did this one in a 1v1, quite a fun watch

Love seeing new spins on an "effects deck"! Me and my MTG pals used to do a similar thing, but we simply flipped it at the end of everyone's turn, once per full round. So in a two player match it would be every other end step, in a 4 player it would be every 4th end step.
Surprised Fele didn't phyrexian altar the blight steel and emrakul after the combat step when he controlled Phil's turn
This was wild, I would definitely watch this "format" again or play it for myself some time

I think putting that many big eldrazis in „the deck“ is a mistake. The video could have been more fun and longer:)
Basically, when Thoralf destroyed Ashnod's Altar, he killed himself.
If that had been left on the board, Fele could have made Phil sacrifice both the Blightsteel Colossus and Emrakul.
This channel shows that so much fun can be had in Magic with just some imagination
I love the idea, but it seemed to get unhinged a bit too quickly, and the opportunity cost made it such that no one had any good reason to play their own deck, so it quickly devolved into the card game "war". I'd love to see something like this again, but with tweaked rules to change the incentives. Maybe [[Kiora Soverien of the Deep]], [[Momir Vig, Simic Visionary Avatar]] or [[Chaos Wand]] style rules?
The deck 100% felt an evil kinship with Phil. I really thought Thoralf had the best shot. His commander was definitely the most suited for the challenge. Too bad commanders weren’t even a factor 😂
How is Emrakul in there? It isn't even legal in EDH. Unless the list has the top 100 salt-inducing cards period.

This looks like an awesome edh variant!!! But I never understood why Fele attacked the others when he controlled Phil. He would need all their possible help to get rid of Emrakul and Blightsteel. Really not an optimal play there...
Day 4 of complimenting great plays instead of pointing out misplays. This one isn't so much of a great play, as a way to go Carl for being such a good sport this game. There were moments ( 22:19 for example) where you can tell he was a little tilted, he did absolutely NOTHING the entire game thanks to his top deck luck, but still was trying to have fun, and be a good host, and enjoy the game for everyone else's sake. Thumbs up

considering that Boromir, Warden of the Tower, Lavinia, Azorius Renegard and cards like this would be banned in this format obviously, i think the best deck might either be 99 lands or half land half exile creature and some destroy cards and then go for the middle from turn 1 only.
as commander best thing would be something that gives your creatures haste or that works with casting cards without mana costs :)

The absolutely brutal self-lock by Carl, into an Omniscience he couldn't use at all, is just about the funniest thing I could imagine happening with this deck
I would love to see a game where yall play the decks without the twist, they seem like fun commanders and I’ve never even see the boros one before
There is regular commander on 80% of the magic channels, we decided that, as Ling as we have the creativity to offer something that you can't see on most of magic youtube, we always will :) there is no point in offering you more of the same

Type 4 was the jam for kitchen table magic. One deck in the middle of the table with about 500 cards in, you have infinite mana but can only cast one spell per turn. Everyone draws from the big deck only.
So happy we’re getting more Fele :D

Well if Saltpile cards didn't count as a "draw" for card effects wouldn't carl still be able to get something from the salt pile each draw step instead as it was ruled as separate from drawing a card?
Would make the game a bit more interesting as now he's forced into an action that can impact the others rather than just sit and wait or be at mercy that someone else kills it.
As it was "instead of drawing from your normal pile you may draw from the saltpile (thus you can do either during your draw step)" it could be ruled two ways:
1: They have an action to take during the draw step that counts for drawing or saltpile, removing "draw from regular pile" takes that action point away and skip draw step -> saltpile not available.
2: they have an option to do besides drawing even without drawing allowed-> saltpile still a choice.
The second would be more fun as i see it and make saltpile more impactful.
