- THATS RIGHT, we used a sharpie to deface and customize over 250 cards to create our own custom game of commander. This trend has been extremely fun and we figured, why not play an entire commander game (or two or three???) with these redacted cards. If you enjoy this please let us know, it was a blast to make and play!

There was no colon, so it wasn't an activated ability. I understood it to be an ETB effect

When Charlie gave away Spell Weird to Drew, the turn before his Azorious Arrester had re-entered the battlefield from dieing in combat. He should have lost from talking
Had the thought halfway through the video, Any could've created a copy of any sac outlet with Ooooooo out on the battlefield to instantly assemble Exodia. I'm dead from laughing too hard at this episode. Absolutely loved it.
The funniest thing about the Exodia play is that it wouldn't have won from having all the pieces, he'd need to attack with it. Exodia is only an isnta-win if all five pieces are in the hand, not on the field lmao
My thought was create 5 “tap: untap target creature” cards on the first turn or technically just 4 because after the 4th untap u could create a piece of exodia and next turn create the other 4 pieces
Even if exodia pieces were in his hand it wouldn't do anything, exodia's effect says you win the duel and a game of magic isn't a duel, you may however challenge someone to a duel and win it instantly

He could have started with Pemmin’s Aura, used a blue to untap any, then cast Black Lotus repeatedly, making infinite mana, at which point he can untap infinitely, at which point you can win any number of ways, the first I think of is Lab Man and repeated Wheels of Fortune to deck everyone out and win
Charlie should've sent out Shaharzad every time he cast his commander and kept making new games

TL;DR: The "Land" cards Drew plays can't tap for mana.
Basic land types are what give lands the intrinsic abilities to tap for the corresponding colors. Plains for white, island for blue, swamp for black, forest for green, and mountain for red. The land subtype doesn't provide any such abilities. It's not a Wastes card because Wastes actually have Oracle text saying "[Tap]: Add (C)" in order for them to function as intended and fit the feel of a basic land by not having any text on the card despite having no basic land type. Those "Land" cards, for all intents and purposes, are basic lands with no abilities and therefore cannot tap for mana. It's certainly still a land and can be affected by things that can affect or refer to lands. You can Stone Rain it or even sacrifice it to a Sylvan Safekeeper, but you cannot tap it for mana unless you give it a basic land subtype.
Given this is a joke format, really just do whatever. I am of the mind in casual formats that if something is funny, it supersedes actual rules. I mean, they say they're a land right in the name! That IS a LAND. ISLAND. Lands tap for mana. That's how it works. Get fucked, WotC.

Charlie and all the other guys are fun to watch together playing on any platform. The editing style of this content to keep it easy to digest for a wider audience is great. It doesn’t matter what you guys game on, I’m sure it will be entertaining.
Spell Weird feels truly in the spirit of Sharpie Magic, it seems like a real idea for an Un-Set card.

This is a funny comment and they very well might’ve actually written on the cards which is crazy. You can accomplish the same thing with double sleeving and a sharpie and not mess up your cards. Hope you don’t have to sell your body any more lmao

@LowPho I tend to proxy decks I'm play testing and any cards that are Essentials or just too expensive. Like the high tier mana rocks, duel lands, dockside, and stuff like that. Please don't proxy an entire deck.
Also don't proxy in the sharpie format either. The point of this format is to take janky bulk cards and make them super strong, not to take staples and make them even more ridiculous.

39:12 For those that are curious, mtg does actually have a rule about sorceries entering the battlefield!
"307.4. Sorceries can’t enter the battlefield. If a sorcery would enter the battlefield, it remains in its previous zone instead."
I have no idea why this was needed in the rules, but it's there lol
Flickering a manifested sorcery would make it enter the battlefield but because it can't enter it remains exiled.

Charlie's commander is omega broken lmao. He could have just instantly won by drawing his whole deck with the azorius signet and getting thassa's oracle with his commander.
Wouldn't this technically be on the main phase ability. Kind of like a static ability as opposed to a triggered one?
There was some spicy synergy between "any" and "ooOo" while they were both on the battlefield that Charlie could have used to specifically win with Exodia:
1. Tap any to make a token copy of any
2. Sacrifice the original any to the legend rule when the token copy enters, at which point ooOo triggers to return the original any to the battlefield
3. While the ooOo trigger is on the stack, tap the token copy of any to make a piece of Exodia
4. The non-token any re-enters the battlefield untapped and with haste because of ooOo - sacrifice the tapped token copy to the legend rule
5. Repeat from step 1 but create a different piece of Exodia this time
This depends on how you interpret "Choose a card name that hasn't been chosen" since you have to choose "any" multiple times, but by my understanding of how cards like Gandalf the Grey work, the choices should be per instance of that card and get reset when it leaves and re-enters the battlefield. This might be the greatest infinite combo ever since you get infinite copies of any card from any card game.
Except exodus wins by being in your hands and tokens aren’t physical cards you can hold

With ooOo on the battlefield you can choose to create any card that has a sacrifice ability like Viscera Seer and you're good to go.
-Tap it, create a card
-Sacrifice Any
-Repeat

This was the funniest gameplay video I have seen in a very long time across many other context creators, I hope I will see many more 😂
Idea: Each player makes a certain number of sharpie cards, and tries to make them a little more fair and coherent (but still a bit chaotic and funny, obviously, because that's the point of the format) and then you do an actual cube draft with them, so players can find combos and synergies, and to discourage people from putting "win the game" cards in (because someone else might end up with the card instead). Players could even set up certain nonsense archetypes for them to draft, but at the risk of someone else ending up with the commander they were going to use.
Im a big land/misprint/oddity collector I would love one of those basic lands

42:55 Actually, specifically because of the legendary rule, this is an instant Exodia. Tap any, make a copy of any, send the original to the graveyard. With the Oooo trigger on the stack, tap the new any, make one piece of Exodia. Oooo trigger resolves, original any comes back, repeat loop.
