I didn't include Soderblom because he played over 10 NHL games (he played 21 so very close) and the reason is I tried to list players who player under 10 games (similar to Entry Level Contract rule). Otherwise Soderblom definitely would have been on the list. He has some slick hands for a big forward! Thanks!
LGRW! Thanks for the video! Sucks the Wings never got to draft in the top 3 during a 10 year rebuild. Very happy with their prospect pool and how they drafted.
Thanks and I can't wait to see my Wings playing this year ? Is it playoff time again ? Remains to be seen but looking good. I love Danielson and think he's going to be a real steal.
Great video, very interesting takes on the top 10. I think i would add Amadeus Lombardi in at 9, bumping out Buium. The Wings are stacked on defense, in about 4 years this will be a scary group.
Nice list, thanks for the video. However I’d definitely have Soderblom in the top 10 instead of Buium. (Honestly, Hanas and Lombardi are ahead of Buium too.) Overall though, pretty solid ranking. 👍
Yeah Soderblom definitely would have made the list but I only included players who played under 10 NHL games (similar to Entry Level Contract rule) and Soderblom played 21...close. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@nhldraftpros Redwings pipeline is DEEP asf. We got robbed in the 2020 draft, but we drafted very well that year, our 2021 class is historically good. Cossa Mazur Edvinsson. These past 2 years we have just been sitting in the lower part of the middle of the pack but I think we still will miss the playoffs this year one last time but finish upper middle of the pack. But dude in a couple years along with the early part of the Yzerplan of Seider Raymond Fabbri and Rass....we will have our young studs of: Carter Mazur, William Wallinder, Albert Johansen, Ryan Lombardi, Axel Pelikka, Elmer Soderblom, Marco Casper, Simon Edvinsson, Dmitri Buchelnikov, and Sebastian Cossa. Like Yzerman has built a team out of hidden gems and starting in 2-3 years I predict we will be going on a 10 year playoff streak with atleast 1 cup title sometime around 2028 or 2029
Really well done video! That being said, I think you missed out on Lombardi. He might not pan out at the NHL level, but as of right now his development is showing top 6 if not superstar potential. He might end up being the answer at center with Larkin.
Thanks! They have some nice pieces...could have added a couple more to the list like Lombardi and Hanas...I didn't include players who played more than 10 NHL games, so Soderblom was close (played 21 games I think). Wings looking good for the future!
Pellikka might only be 5'11" but Vlad Konstantinov was only 5'11" too. Konstantinov could hit like a truck. With his skating ability Pellikka is going to be a rockstar. I saw an interview with Yzerman at the end of day 1 of the draft. He killed it and he knows it. Danielson and Pellikka are both thoroughbreds.
finally that video I Was looking for.. 😊 honestly pretty solid rankings surely even more so considering you're not a Red Wings fan I could see why you put Cossa ahead of Mazur because of the upside Cossa has .. Hanas had an exciting begining in GR Before the injury end his season that was pretty frustrating though.. that kid has nasty hands and improved impressively his shot just like Berggren did .. Lombardi is definitly a dark horse he could ending to become a Braden Point 2.0.. we have to remember who drafted Point guess who ? Stevie Y.. 😉😉
Yes! Hanas and Lombardi were on the bubble, but just went with personal preference and who I thought would translate better at the next level. But definitely a nice group to have in the ranks!
Yes indeed! Just took a break to enjoy some summer, but now I'm back to dropping videos. Columbus coming out tomorrow....then Anaheim next week. Thanks!
Detroit's top 25 prospects pool: 1. Simon Edvidsson 2. Nate Danielson 3. Marco Kasper 4. Axel Sandin Pellikka 5. Carter Mazur 6. Sebastian Cossa 7. Amadeus Lombardi 8. William Wallinder 9. Cross Hanas 10. Dmitri Buchelnikov 11. Elmer Soderblom 12. Trey Augustine 13. Albert Johansson 14. Shia Buium 15. Noah Dower Nilsson 16. Red Savage 17. Dylan James 18. Andrew Gibson 19. Alexandre Doucet 20. Carter Gylander 21. Antti Tuomisto 22. Brennan Ali 23. Liam Dower Nilsson 24. Brady Cleveland 25. Jared Mcissac Etc......
If i remember correctly Detroit has a handful of picks in the first rounds next season, considering they seem almost as stacked in very interesting D guys as Montreal (and maybe Colombus), would you see them go full force for forwards and even try to trade up for one of the top prospects (if not Celebrini directly) ? Or do you feel they still have room for some other Defensive guys of a certain specific profile ?
The 2024 NHL Draft is stacked with D so it will be interesting to see what transpires come draft day and where the Wings will land also. But it seems that Yzerman typically goes with best available (or who him and staff think that is) when it comes to prior drafts. Building something nice in Hockeytown!
Im a Leksands IF fan so i watch every game of them, and Detroits pick Anton johansson is playing there, he reminds me of Seider, could be a good player in the future, should be able to play in AHL next season
As a Red Wing fan I see them about ranked 5th ~ 7th in NHL farm prospects. This being as they have NO top level NHL elite scorer in this group. Steady hockey IQ types, puck possession LHC and RHC. and special teams prowess. They had a chance to add 3 scoring forwards in the 2023 second round and went for 2 stay at home dmen and a goalie. I am okay with the goalie. Yet it was just unimaginable why SY went 2 D prospects that need a lot of work in this skill sets for consideration in the second round. They both probably would have been there in the 3rd round.
Yeah I would have thought more offensive minded forwards too...considering they have a boat load of D in the pipeline. But Im sure they have a plan and we will just have to wait and see how it transpires!
Man, Detroit has some big D's in their prospect pool. Looks like the Canadiens and Wings have the same mentality. Defense wins championships.. BTW, I preferred Sandin Pellikka to Reinbacher last draft. Sandin Pellikka looked more dynamic to me. I look forward to see who becomes more valuable to their team. I hope it's Reinbacher.. ;-)
I only included players who played under 10 NHL games (so Soderblom is out) and Lombardi and Hanas were in the 8-12 vicinity, just a personal preference on my end. Thanks!

Terrible prospect pool, terrible drafting strategy and terrible management. All these top 10 picks year after year and not a single elite looking goal scorer. Won’t be long before the second rebuild begins in 3 years. The first team in history to have an entire roster and prospect pool of mid 3rd liners. Congrats yzerman
Lombardi. He’s so cerebral. He is the kind of player who will make everyone he plays with seem that much better. He needs to be on this list.
The only 2 players that would be considered ahead of Buchelnikov and Buium for this list would be Elmer Soderbloom and Amadeus Lombardi.

Cross Hanas? @@nhldraftpros
I think Lombardi has a higher floor and Buchelnikov has a higher ceiling so it just depends on your preference.
I’d put Trey Augustine way up there too. I think he’s going to end up turning out better than Cossa honestly
LGRW! Thanks for the video!

I feel like most lists don't include him because they don't consider him a prospect anymore, but he still technically is

Yeah I was on the fence about Lombardi...definitely could make the list, but just a personal preference I guess. The last few picks are up in the air!
Danielson has a great shot, he has some nice hands too. People assumed since he got labeled a "2 way guy" that means he has limited offensive upside.
That and because he DOES have limited offensive upside
