Hi everyone! This week I got to buy an old Dodge that's a bit out of the ordinary... I hope you guys like it! Also: A look at a rare Fiat Brava, an update on Tom's Impala, and work continues on the boogie van! Thanks also to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments! If you would like to help keep our channel going, you can get a sticker, hat or a coffee mug at: www.coldwarmotors.com Or, please feel free to check out our Patreon page at : www.Patreon.com/coldwarmotors where we have extra videos and pictures and a bunch of people hanging out and bs-ing about cars!
Now that's a real piece of Canadain History. .I hope that Scott actually gets it running or sells it to someone who will. Imagine riding in that limo! Certainly one of many reasons that I like this channel. Look forward to seeing the Dodge Limo actually drive with people in it..a trip out to the mountains would be perfect. Thank you Scott and crew for sharing this video.

So, I quickly showed my mom the limo. She's pretty sure she has some photos with the car and her family when they went through Banff and Jasper as a kid. That car is pretty hard to mistake as anything else. If she finds photos I'll post them up on the Patreon community site. You've been hitting out of the park lately with the coolest old iron and vehicles. Well, this was a good break. Time to get back to replacing old and rusty brake lines.
'tis a shame that more people in RUclips land can't recognize the genius that is CWM. I could go on and on why I think this channel should not be the best kept secret. My Saturday is not complete unless I've watched the show. Thanks Scott, Frankers, Tom and all the Agents! 👍👌
Totally Love the Fiat Brava! I had two in my life, and 1978 1/2 Super Brava and a 1980 FI Brava, both were factory mustard yellow in color and both were great cars. Your '81 model year was the last Brava imported to North America/Canada and very rare, especially a 2Dr. SWEET CAR!
Jim is rocking my everyday outfit from high school, circa 1983. I mean check it out, plaid shirt, trucker hat.......DOWN VEST!!! Get that man a Schlitz.
@@Rico_G The door skin was an unexpected gift I found after I subscribed because I was so impressed by Scott's ability to handcraft repair panels for his Fury. It quickly became one of my favorite videos of all time. I just love it when Scott is going crazy on the door and it cuts back to the other agents smoking and watching him. The fact the door came out amazing is the best part, and he legit put it on his daily driver.
Oh! I'm excited to see the Dodge Limo get some love. Pity about the cracked block, but maybe it was a great epoxy repair that only needs some tidying up a bit. I've been driving a '48 Willys pickup for 34 years with a small crack repair in the water jacket. Just the ticket for Coldwarmotors facility tours. Can't wait to see Dean in a Limo drivers uniform.
..Just drill some overlapping holes along the crack, tap them with threads, install some screws, and chisel the heads off like those guys in Pakistan did with those cracked cylinder heads on the dirt floor.. :)
Another awesome episode!! Project misleading at 2:50 is probably why it's so hard for some of us to find help now... Great one liners, automotive diversity, all good stuff! Scott, you shouldn't be amazed you have people interested in what your doing; cuz this is really all of us amazed someone goes thru some of the Same Old Shit as us, and willing to share it! Hats off to you n all the fellow agents!! Well done.
It's about the 50th or so video I've watched so far, and I must say I almost feel like living in your neck of the woods, drinking a beer, wandering around with adorable, truly interested, attentive and above all happy friends, looking in wonder at cars, giving Frankers all that well-deserved air-time, enjoying life to the full, and restoring old classics to near perfection (although you keep saying it's not nearly as perfect as it could or should be)! It just seems like a nice, quiet place to live, and your channel gives a lot of vicarious (car) pleasure. Greetings from Belgium!
I've owned a few of those 60's vintage Mercedes...They all shift really hard...Nature of the beast...Even my 1993 190e was a hard shifter....Been a Coldwar Motors watcher for years...
I had 7 of them in years past. The gearshift felt like a flimsy toy compared to American cars, and was vague and rubbery but easy to use. If I recall correctly every joint had a rubber grommet and brass sleeve in it. If the rubber rotted off the gearshift became useless.
That Dodge interior looked practically haunted and here's this agent quaffing a beer in the back... priceless...that Mercedes tho'...total class all the way. this channel is well worth my patreonage.
One year at Hershey I saw a '50 Dodge Driver's Education car with a full set of right hand controls, not just an extra brake pedal like modern drivers ed cars have. That was before I became a '50 Dodge owner myself.
Tom has gone up in my estimation, I wondered what happened to the black Heckflosse 😎😊. It's a bit tappety still though >When the tappets are set the car has to dead cold and you need to have to pull the feeler gauge firmly to get the correct setting .If you are able to get those carbs tuned you are doing well. I work on them for a living, specialising in pre 1980 Mercedes. So because i am a geek I had to search the Dodge, and here it is! They had a fleet of Six. The Dodge limo takes me back to the 60,s ...for sure. Back in Ontario, We had one of these as a band equipment hauler . We ended up going to a 65 van new , but these were great . The other band that utilized the old Dodge semi automatic was a Band called The Grass Company ... my cousin was the lead singer and with a guitar player by the name of Kim Mitchell ... looking forward to Scott taking me for a fun restoration ride . Cheers to you all , great fun here. Alberta Dave
Fun story.. I had to pull the drums on a 48 Plymouth because the brake pedal was simply a placebo, same setup with tapered axel and a key. I payed $80 US for a puller that looked identical to yours. It was the biggest piece of shit I've ever had my hands on. First drum, I stripped the threads out of it. 2 hours on a lathe later I got it funtional and then broke one of the legs. After roughly 8 hours working on the puller and 3 days of cussing I managed to pull both rear drums. I love working on old stuff....
That eazy-out you sacrificed was worth every penny! I can't believe it didn't snap off and make an even bigger problem. I think I would have smeared some grease on a drillbit and then run a tap through it.
Great find on the Dodge Limousine 👏👏👏,can't wait for the next episode to see if she'll run!! Enjoyed everything about the video, a good look at everyone's progress, thanks for sharing and as always you know "Howdy from Texas "!!
I had a 1977 131 Mirafiori for a while in the early 1980s here in Australia. It had a 1600 pushrod engine and it really needed that 2 litre twin cam. Nice gearbox. The only thing that didn’t go wrong with it was it didn’t rust, a miracle for that era. Had to get rid of it before it drove me insane and made my mechanic a millionaire. Good to see a nice one.
I've praised you for the variety you provide. It is so obvious rewatching older videos, there is always a part I had forgotten about, always a good way to kill an hour. Cheers!!
You did good with the spark plug, using the right Easy out. If you had heated it red with an acetylene torch it would have come right out. We used to have the same problem with Chevy V8s with the taper fit plugs, they were paper thin and would break off. That is how we got them out, but they were a lot harder to get at.
Good to see some Chevrolet fins on this channel. I had two '60 Impala coupes back in the '70s and '80s. One had the 348 V-8 and the infamous Turboglide transmission. Sure wish I had them today. Love your videos!
The limo will run again !! Bringing old iron back to life is a joyous addiction. Scott's the dealer !! I thought my tractor was enough, but noooo!!!! Now I found another old Mopar !! There's got to be a 12 step program !!
Never seen an old 51 Dodge like that, it was probably a rare car when it was made and it's probably the only one left, it's a limousine. It does have class.
The Dodge limo is quite a score. They made more than 20,000 of those bodies from 1949 to 1954 and used them on long wheelbase Dodge, DeSoto, Chrysler and Imperial chassis. In other words, you have the same body as an Imperial limousine, with a Dodge front end and motor. The bigger 265 Chrysler six will bolt in. You can even bore the Dodge block and use Chrysler pistons, rods and crankshaft. The rear axle is 6" wider than the stock sedan because the body is wider, and they had a heavy duty chassis and rear axle with 5" bolt pattern wheels same as Chrysler station wagon and Imperial. They made a DeSoto Skyview taxi with a sun roof but never saw the glass roof panels before. Must be unique to the sight seeing model. If you want to know what one is capable of, see this story on the big brother DeSoto 8 pass Suburban. My favorite quote "at 70 MPH at high altitudes it smooths out like a perfectly balanced turbine" this with a long stroke, 265 cu in flathead six and 4:11 gears. www.allpar.com/cars/desoto/suburban-1951.html If you have to move a car with the wheels frozen try this. Some planks or plywood covered with plastic, and slide the tires on shampoo. Don't use your wife's $45 stuff you will get in trouble. Get some from the dollar store for a $1 buck.
Solid. You guys manage to find some of the most interesting pieces of metal I've seen. My goodness you can see the beauty of that Dodge under the quantities of rust and decay.
I love it! This beast reminds me of my Grandpa's '49 Imperial 8 limousine- he was a farmer and father of 9 children. It was the only thing that would haul everyone to church in one go! :)
@@MattBracewell71 As a long time viewer of British TV series, I can clarify that Canadian "chips" are what are known in the UK as "crisps", whereas UK "chips" are called "french fries" in USA & Canada. However, the concept of "fish'n'chips" is generally understood as a popular British "pub-style" seafood main course.

Wow, there's a white limousine in lemony snicket that I've been wondering what car it was based on, I think you've answered my question. That's a cool find. This episode needed to be a special 2 hour feature length , I need more. Will it run? And boogie Van paint, omg the suspense is going to kill me.
Love that old dodge I am 73 years old ,I drove a 52 dodge as my first car ,we were 3 amish boys we bought the car for100 dollars we had a lot of fun with that car till my dad found the car those were the days!!! Thanks for memorys.
Like now, watch later, when I’m home from work and I’ve got a cold beer and a joint to smoke. Cheers 🍻 That Dodge Coronet limo is really cool. You could turn it into a CWM tour car. Give people a tour around your yard :) Jim’s old Benz is pretty sweet too. Don’t see many in these parts. Great video as always Scott
I'm in Detroit and in 1976 I bought a new Fiat 131,5 speed DOHC, when it wanted to run it was a blast to drive. The electrical system was the main problem area.
My Dad had a 1950 Plymouth Airport Car. Similar to your Dodge, but had one more set of doors in the back and luggage rack the length of the roof with a ladder up the trunk. Us kids loved running up and down the back.👍♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I had a 50 Coronet sedan with a 4 speed fluid drive and a 230 flatbread just like my 41 1/2 ton power wagon pick up had. Never got it running and eventually sold it in the 80s. It had all kinds of spare parts with it like bumpers and a dash. It was in better shape interior wise and would have been fun to drive. We used to see those around here back then and my buddies brothers had a bunch of them that still would run and drive. My pw had a 56 Plymouth 230 in it, the Coronet was the original engine and turned free. It probably would have ran with some gas and a battery but that was typical for the Mopar flatheads.
COOL LIMO!!!!! Ahhh Haaaa! That key for the rear axle, reminds me of my father's '59 Rambler American..Except, I think the rear hub was pressed on now that I think of it. Strange, how they installed the rear drive hubs back then...
Hi Scott. Old limo/ tourist sight seeing cart is unique for sure. Good job on broken spark plugs. It'll run! Fiat is cool too. I once worked on a 68 spider with a similar engine , but have never seen one like your friends. Tom's Chevy sounds like a collapsed lifter. The boogie vans going to take alot of paint. But is looking great. The limo needs a good level one tidy.
Another beautiful addition to the fleet. There are three planets in retrograde right now which made it hard for me to watch Ashe pulling plugs without supporting the wrench at the top of the pivot. Other than that, it was yet again a wonderful show! Thank you all...

If you have to move a car with the wheels frozen try this.
Your show is awesome.
Very unusual and cool old Dodge limo. Looking forward to the first start attempt and then a pressure wash clean up and clean out of the old girl!
If i ever get to see you guys going for chips in this then my life is complete 😂
Can somebody clarify whether Canadian chips are US or UK chips pls?
@@MattBracewell71 maybe the same as UK chips but with a different accent but i dunno because I'm a Kiwi 😂😂
@@MattBracewell71 US chips or potato chips. Going to the store for a bag of chips (to the shop for a packet of crisps) has become a catch phrase.
I've seen them go for chips in a couple of Dean Machines, for sure.
This weeks score: Tom Cotter 0 in England, CWM a rescued 51' only & last of it's kind Dodge Coronet from a drive down the street. Game Set Match: CMW.
Well put old boy!
There's a restored one, someone posted the link to this pic above:

Wow, there's a white limousine in lemony snicket that I've been wondering what car it was based on, I think you've answered my question. That's a cool find. This episode needed to be a special 2 hour feature length , I need more. Will it run? And boogie Van paint, omg the suspense is going to kill me.
Another great adventure but this one is Priceless!
When they got that last spark plug out I wanted to hit that like icon about a hundred times.
That limo is a hoot! I would love to see it on a chip run!!!
Can't wait to see van painted.👍👍. Dodge will run.
Love that old dodge I am 73 years old ,I drove a 52 dodge as my first car ,we were 3 amish boys we bought the car for100 dollars we had a lot of fun with that car till my dad found the car those were the days!!! Thanks for memorys.
Coronet limo... for the millionaire on the way to being a hundredaire
Cleaning and polishing job for "the Dean"!!
Those kind of pullers were invaluable in the day. Parts stores used to rent them by the hour.
Love the Dodge limo and the ‘60 Impala!!!
I can’t believe you can still get field finds like those! Amazing!!!
Like now, watch later, when I’m home from work and I’ve got a cold beer and a joint to smoke. Cheers 🍻
That Dodge Coronet limo is really cool. You could turn it into a CWM tour car. Give people a tour around your yard :) Jim’s old Benz is pretty sweet too. Don’t see many in these parts. Great video as always Scott
Rock on mate!!
Yes! CWM to the rescue, have a great day guys!
I'm sitting watching this in Cincinnati and am so proud to be Canadian.....lol
I'm in Detroit and in 1976 I bought a new Fiat 131,5 speed DOHC, when it wanted to run it was a blast to drive. The electrical system was the main problem area.
Can’t believe how straight and complete the Dodge is....gotta be a restoration.
I have gray hair and bifocals, and this car was parked when I was seven.
Yep, hope you aged better than the Dodge...lol. By the I was 27yo when it was parked ya youngster.
@@bbrut3332 I was 17
Me too, and I wasn’t born then.
Im excited to see how you'll tidy up that limo. I've never seen one like that one before.
That’s a Fiat 131 in the uk . My dad had a 1978 miafiori twin cam. Great car disappeared in a pile of rust 🤣
That would make a great Cruiser, I would love to have it.
The 131 Abarth cleaned up in European rally scene in the ‘70’s. Cool:)
