Down the line, I'm sure this will be one of the best days in Dulcé Sloan's career - the day she put her Momma on TV (and the internet) for everyone to see and say "awwww". Go Dulcé!
I got to meet Dr. Shirley Jackson at my undergrad graduation, she’s a delight and an amazing speaker and obviously so incredibly intelligent. All of these women deserve so much recognition. Thank you, Dulce, for talking about them and for being an amazing black woman as well!
I honestly had never heard about her before which is unfortunate, but this silly show is the reason I now do. And she seems amazing, so I am glad it happened!
You missed three of my favorite Black Women: Lorraine Hansberry- Playwright, "Raisin In The Sun" Barbara Jordan- U. S. Congresswoman from Texas Queen Latifah- Singer, songwriter, & actress EDIT: I had to come back to my post to add the names of two of the most beloved & cherished Black Women in my life. They do not possess worldwide acclaim, but they had a dramatic, positive effect on me. I'm talking about: Miss Thomas (P. S. 273), my 1st-grade homeroom & science teacher. Because of Miss Thomas, I decided I wanted to work in the field of medicine, & no one, & I mean no one, was going to stop this 6-year-old girl from doing so. & Mrs. Lee (Miramar H. S.), my American Literature teacher. She introduced me to the work of Lorraine Hansberry & taught me how to take & ace a 'critical thinking' test. When all of us balked about her test, she stood up & firmly stated, "All of you are going to college, & trust me, you will see this again." She was correct. My college English professor asked me how I scored the only A on her test (I scored 100%). Smiling, I simply responded, "Glorious Lee." Ladies, I never got the chance to say, "Thank you, I love you, & I will always hold you in the highest esteem."
Nichelle Nichols, the Queen of Sci-Fi and worked with NASA in the 70s to inspire people to join. Inspired Mae Jamison, Whoopi Goldberg and who knows how many other block women to go for their dream goals!
I will never understand how Family Matters disappeared a whole character like that. Study-abroad scholarship, summer camp, she's always hanging out with her friends and is rarely around. They could've even done a secretly adopted and now her real parents want her back soap opera story for an episode. Convoluted, but at least that'd be _something_ and it honestly wouldn't be so far left field in FM's universe.
I actually love Dulce! And I truly enjoyed the highlights of influential Black women in this segment. But Dulce seemed.... off somehow? Is that just me?
It wasn't just you. To me it felt like she was thrown by the lack of reaction to the first set of jokes, and then got too self conscious afterwards, so her timing and reactions were a bit off. Could be something else entirely, but she almost always feels really loose and comfortable with her sketches, and this one felt slightly off. After having watched the whole thing now, I wonder if she was nervous about talking about her mom, either because she was emotional, or because she didn't want to mess up an important tribute. I'm sure she'll be back to her great comedy stylings soon, and I loved this segment, especially seeing her and her mom 😊
Ketanji Brown Jackson should have been included in here. Arguably the greatest black woman of this decade so far, I really hope that a few decades from now she is seen the same as Thurgood Marshall is.
@@davisjeremiah18 I just meant hold off on honoring any other women until after the first week of March, which is Women's History Month. Seems like the perfect bridge between the two, and it's like an extra week of Black History Month.
Basically, one child actress, who played Judy, was dropped from the show. Her being sent upstairs was the last people saw of her. (well, technically, they did show her, in a shot, at the very end of that episode, but going upstairs was her last action) It's a bit of a Family Matters trivia, and maybe a deep cut today, but there it is. It is said that the directors were changing the direction of the show, and thus made the cast change yet never explained how that kid disappeared.
Biden would be wise to make it crystal clear that yes he is old and should anything happen to him, Vice President Harris can be ready in 5 minutes. Then brief her on everything needed. The real age question is one where people don't support Harris to step up. I do.
Love it! And the joke about why it's on leap day was sadly on point! 😅 but TDS writers - saying "first black woman" isn't the best way to speak about women's' accomplishments. I've written about women in STEM. we're taught to include their technical accomplishments FIRST not "first woman". Same here.
Madam C.J. Walker, black women's hair care maker in the 19th century Florence Griffith Joyner, Olympian sprinter Billie Holiday, singer and composer of the song "Strange Fruit" Phillis Wheatley, published poet in the 18th century These were the first who sprang to mind.
WHEN are we getting a week of Dulcé Sloan hosting?!!!!! She got robbed BOTH TIMES she was to be the host and only had one day. If she isn't going to get her chance to host the full Tuesday - Friday, then let us know now so we can bounce and unsubscribe.
Down the line, I'm sure this will be one of the best days in Dulcé Sloan's career - the day she put her Momma on TV (and the internet) for everyone to see and say "awwww".
Go Dulcé!
Catch an interview for her book Hello, Friends. She shows pics & talks about her mom often. 😊
👏👏👏 Thank you Dulce and Dulce's momma! This should be a regular yearly thing! (At least, wish we talked about these things more *sigh*)
I don't understand the 2028 joke, can someone explain it to me?
@@drjordan5706 That's when the next leap year will be. So they'll celebrate women's day again. HTH

However all the rest are great. No other objections.
I LOVED Shirley Chisom .
She was a very classy lady and so kind.
Google her! @empireofthewolves
Dulce's mom deserves all the flowers 💐💐💐 ❤
Man, I was hoping she would've mentioned Flo-Jo in it..Her Olympics & World records still stand until today..RIP
Thank you, Dulce, you are the best! Keep it coming, sis! #BlackWomenHistoryDay!
Shout out to Dulcé's mom.
Thanks, Dulcé's mom!
Dulce looks just like her Mom.
They both have that beautiful glowing skin
You know that's not her momma, that woman isn't old enough to have grown kids, that's her big sister. ;D
She looks more like her sister than her mom.
@@klausweasley Seriously, that's the best-aging someone-else's mom I've ever seen
She is the cutest 😂
Right?! But righteous when she needs to be, and always funny. ❤
She is! ❤❤
I wouldn't mind if she becomes the permanent host of Daily Show
She really is 🤩
Love Dulce! She's so relatable, smart and funny. Her segments are my favorite.
Dulce coming up with the Family Matters deep cut. I absolutely loved that. For those who don't know look up Judy Winslow and Family Matters.
Love her. I use her "We Don't Do That " segments to teach about how institutional Racism kept Black and Brown people from a relationship with nature.
Is that from one of her comedy specials? I'd love to see it
I love Dulcé! Her and her mother are both beautiful woman❤

Shhh...saying it out loud may cause some ppl reexamine that part of the ballot on election day.
DULCE!!!!!!!!!you are fire!!!!!
Dang, I was hoping Dulce would put herself up on the screen to promote her new book 😂
It's valuable information and the education that America needs.
Missy Elliot: “WHOOOOO!!!!!” 🎉🎉
VP Kamala Harris: “😐………👏🏾”
lol, but Kamala is kinda part of the racist system
Sounds about right.
Exactly.
No actual thinking democrat sides with her or Biden. We are just obligated to side with them. That's not democracy.

Since February is a short month, it only makes sense to make Black women the focus of the first week of Women's History Month!
Why? The first week instead of the entire month? That would be less time not more.
@@davisjeremiah18 I just meant hold off on honoring any other women until after the first week of March, which is Women's History Month. Seems like the perfect bridge between the two, and it's like an extra week of Black History Month.

Black Women's History Day, yes! Please!!
But EVERY year, last day of February or first day of March.
Madam C.J. Walker, black women's hair care maker in the 19th century
Florence Griffith Joyner, Olympian sprinter
Billie Holiday, singer and composer of the song "Strange Fruit"
Phillis Wheatley, published poet in the 18th century
These were the first who sprang to mind.
she is beautiful
