Explaining Incineroar's Inflammable Hitboxes (Smash Ultimate)

- It's once again time for another hitbox analysis video, this time we are taking a look at Incineroar. He's a bit of a unique character being a heavyweight without a lot of the traditional hallmarks. So how does that reflect on his hitboxes, well let's take a look.

"knife hand thrust".... hmm I always thought of that as "cheeto fingers"
My friend always says "eat my cheeto dust" when he uses the move lol
@@Crifzer my friend always just says "Cheeto Fingers!"
I yell out CHEETO FINGERS anytime I use the move lol
Throat Chop
A lot of people think that. Question is who started it?
I like how Incineroar is able to achieve everything he needs to with only 2 or 3 hitboxes per move. It's almost elegant how simply their laid out. Definitely a bit jarring when you then compare them to some DLC fighters.
I personally think they did this to make him a close-range fighter, because all his moves are much harder-hitting, albeit small
*they're
@@brain_tonic I noticed that right after posting, but I didn't feel like editing the comment to change one word.
And then up b
Gotta love how everyone knows at this point that if Incineroar had good mobility he would be by far the most broken character in the game
Without a doubt, he would at least be a top 20 character.
Even without the move speed he's pretty good!
He would not be the most broken but he would be real good.
optimized incin is enough for me
if they fixed the issues with some moves then he would be as scary as people make him out to be
Ah yes
The character I didn't realize I wanted in Smash
Seriously I was not expecting to love his moveset so much the way I do now
I’m just glad his specials aren’t Fake Out, Flare Blitz, Parting Shot and Taunt/Darkest Lariat
@@AshenDust_ are those the most popular moves to give him in Pokémon?
@@k-leb4671 yea, and he’s the most broken Pokémon in doubles
I think it's his animations that are what really sell him as a character
Wrestler Garfield go toes to toes with a god and his comically large knife.
Funnily enough inflammable means the same thing as flammable and no I’m not joking they literally have the exact same definition.
these type of things just make me think, "why?"
What a country.
Good luck learning English non speakers.
I would enjoy collateral throw hit boxes for other fighters. would even like the inclusion of get up/ledge attacks.
incineroar is one of my favorite pokemon as well as a favorite to play as in smash. absolutely glad he was added.
Regarding collateral throw hitboxes: it’s not something I feel is great in a video about individual characters. But a video about the more interesting ones, or if there’s not enough interesting ones then all of them, could be cool.
Like Ryu and Ken's down throw. It instabreaks shields.
@@wingedbluj1674 I thought it was their up throw
I've heard they're pretty important in the ice climber matchup. still niche, but at least they have some use
Something to note is that incin loses revenge if he takes 37ish dmg even without getting grabbed
Just a reminder that Incineroar's tail doesn't have a hurtbox, but Mewtwo does.
Well, Mewtwo actually uses his tail as a weapon whereas Incineroar doesn't.
@@TheMissingLink2 And yet, DK's tie has a hurtbox
2:00 I mean gotta remember Incineroar is based on a Wrestler (specifically the Heel archetype) so his up tilt being a headbutt isn't too farfetched.
7:32 I think the alolan whip hitbox (at least the strong hit) is collateral. It happens very often against Ice Climbers and sometimes in FFA's. I's definitely not common, but it's happened.
When you hit the lariat of the Side B, it does hit other opponents, but I'm not sure if it counts as a collateral hitbox. Also would have been appreciated if you could have explained the heavy armor Incineroar gets while performing Side B.
Up special too
if incin had yoshi mobility, he would be the best in the game by far
Pretty much. Kinda the same with Ganon where a lot of his moves are good. It's just that his movement and recovery sucks.
@@mckiem0use Heavies man.
@@mckiem0use ganon still wouldn't be able to deal with pressure tho. No oos options
@@greedo194 Still, he wouldn't be bottom tier anymore.
@@greedo194 nair and up air for ganon are great
I definitely think you should include collateral throw hitboxes, because they **can and do** impact certain 1v1 matchups, including those with Rosalina (because of the Luma), Olimar (because of lingering Pikmin), and anyone with particular lingering projectiles (Snake grenades, Isabelle down-B). They're niche interactions, but they most definitely exist even in competitive settings.
0:39 does that say “sex kick” or have I lost it?
Sex kick is a smash term referring to nairs like those of Link or Fox.
Yes it does ahah , it's usually an aerial move where the character kicks straight in front of him
Collateral hitboxes are something I would like to see touched on a little more. As a Pacman player, I would be interested to see if my hydrant might actually take some damage from a throw. Its suuuuuuper unlikely but it could potentially mean a stock (not that I'm quite at the level of play to worry about that kind of thing, but nonetheless something to watch for). Similar could be said with Isabelle and the Gyroid. Or Villager and the tree.
As a wrestling fan, it's fun hearing the names of the moves.
I would leave in the collateral hit boxes for sure I think this is relevant information for double players
As both a casual and competitive Incineroar player, I can confirm that Incineroar does have a collateral hitbox on Alolan whip when timed correctly, as I've landed it many times. It's a bit hard to land though (Probably due to hitlag). I don't know if it has a collateral hitbox on the early timing, though. Besides that, I enjoyed the video!
As an Incin main, The F-Throw hitbox is really nice against Puppet characters like Rosa and the Icies.
I once killed a Marth off the top on battlefield at 60 with Incineroar up B. I have no idea how that move works and am surprised the hitboxes weren't some crazy hodgepodge of colors and shapes.
Personally I think “Incineroar’s incredible hitboxes” sounds like a better title. more realistic, less cheesy, still gets the double “I”
But they aren't incredible. They're not good.
@@TheMissingLink2 they are, kinda. they're certainly not bad, incin is just slow. if you can come up with something better i'll give you a pass
@@dongzuyamishikong They aren't good for a character with his speed and in his weight class at all.
Characters are often right outside the range of these hit boxes when incine attacks. They need to be extended. They are so tight you have to literally be right up inside a player to hit them.
And unlike so many other characters, there's almost no lag when with these boxes at all. You get the literal frame this attack is active and that's it's. For example, his up tilt, the hitbox literally only covers the spot where his head is at during the motion on each frame. If it was another character, the hitbox would cover the entire attack itself during the duration of the attack OR have a second but weaker hitbox chasing the 1st, extending the range.
As a Incine main, I can't tell you how many times I've used an attack only for it to pass through or by an opponent despite it being right there within range just because the incredibly tight hitbox was 1frame off, meanwhile despite having space between myself and an opponent, Incine can easily be hit by others because the hit boxes extended far outside the character or their attacks, or there is so much lag, that despite already attacking, the box is still active after their motion has stopped.
So if you mean the hit boxes are good in the sense that they cover the character's physical body well and that's it, then yes. But if you mean good compared to many others and in the sense of battle, then no, they are not.
His frame data is poor for his speed.
Incine barely has any invulnerability, poor range, no real armor like other characters in his weight class, all his moves save for his down tilt and n-air has tremendous lag, he has ZERO priority and he is easily interrupted.
There's a reason why competitive players RARELY ever use him. Yeah, he's useable, like any character on the roster, but they've done very little to actually balance him. Incine might be able to kill at 40% but that's if everything is perfect. Meanwhile fucking Luigi can combo you at 0% untill you're dead. And let's not even talk about Sora's bullshit. And there's Pikachu, the community constantly jokes about nerfing him for a reason.
Anyway, to see other characters with better hit boxes, just check out other characters already featured in this channel.
@@TheMissingLink2 Incin's hitboxes are good. Period
I woulda liked to see the different animations for when he connects smash and doesn't connect
I loved that this time you actually read out what the moves are supposed to be called, like Incineroar's Dash attack being a knee strike, or his up smash being a double axe handle. I would love for you to do that for more characters, since the wiki is basically just free information. I too have also been interested in learning what these moves are called, and I've learned a lot
great video as usual man, just wanted to point out that 3:06 isnt technically true. it won't matter in most matchups, but against characters like Ice Climbers + Rosalina & Luma the throw hitboxes can make a different. forward throw in particular can pretty reliably kill luma for free if you land a grab near the ledge
I’m still impressed they made a fire starter character where the only 3 moves with any at all fire aspect aren’t fire type moves in the pokemon games
It’s so funny seeing hit boxes go into the ZAxis
Knife hand thrust? I always called it the "cough twice". It's especially funny to see if you get the last ko with it and the screen zooms in on the splash screen.
My main, im happy seeing this thank you
Can’t wait for “explaining Pikachu’s busted hitboxes”

Throw Collateral hitboxes are awesome
I really like playing Incineroar so knowing the details on his hit boxes is definitely useful. Would love if you made a video analyzing Puff or Pichu next since they are two of the other main characters I play (I’ve been learning Pyra/Mythra and Byleth recently tho.)
I remember seeing Incinoroars back throw two frame someone
Looking at incineroar's moves, he'd be honestly such a good character if they made him like 25% faster on the ground and in the air.
Looking at incineroar's moves, he'd be honestly such a good character if people actually played the game
He's not a bad character. Honestly if he is only bad compared to Pikachu and DLC.
Ah Inceneroar, the one heavy I actually like to play...
FINALLY! MY BOY!!!
Aside from collateral hitboxes, it might be worth including throw angles in future videos.
aw that's cool! I wonder did you do incineroar because of my comment on the zelda video?
A small detail I would like to add is that with Incineroar's side B, you can press B at any time while the opponent is on their way back to incineroar to do the sweet spot. It doesn't have to be right as they collide with him.
? No? It's a frame window. Too early and you throw them upwards.
@@freddiesimmons1394 "is on their way back"
That's the time window.
After they are out of the ropes but before touching you
@@ngotemna8875 I found it on ultimateframedata. The window is 5 frames long (43-47). Assuming I counted correctly, it takes 52 frames for the opponent to hit incineroar in the face. And the opponent is traveling from the ropes to incineroar for 14 frames.
@@freddiesimmons1394 Consider the following:
Reaction time.
If you see the opponent coming back to you you can start pushing the button and get the Lariat.
The OP is still right
@@ngotemna8875 except the button is not hit when the op says it is. As in, if I understand how reaction time works and try to get the button pressed within the window he suggests, I would be wrong.
So, no.
I wouldn't mind seeing some more collateral hitboxes. It might be a nice shakeup to the vid formula.
Incineroar is a really strong character and would probably be one of the best, if he had mobility
I honestly don't think I can recall a single time I've ever seen Incineroar's neutral air until now
I think that collateral hitboxes on throws should be included since they are relevant in competitive Smash (in 2v2, for example), and there are some cases (like Pac-Man’s hydrant) where these collateral hitboxes are still relevant even in 1v1 without items on.
When you cover Ryu and Ken dont forget the colateral hitbox on downthrow that BREAKS SHIELD
WOOOOO INCIN BAYBBEEEEEE
collaterals matter in singles matchups like rosalina, duck hunt, and ice climbers
also fair has 3 different hitboxes, the late hit does different damage
and alolan whip does have a collateral hitbox when it launches
I've never understood why they make two identical hitboxes instead one big hitbox.
Rekzius' Runningoutofideas Titles.
Collateral throw hitboxes do affect singles match in the cases of Rosalina and Luma and Ice Climbers (and other cases like Pac-Man’s hydrant).
Huh. Thought Shulk was already covered. Anyway, I think a cross chop is an actual thing. U run at a guy, dive, and cross ur arms
You are correct. The reason Rek thought it wasn't a real thing is probably due to it being more common in Lucha Libre rather than American pro wrestling.
I love this character. I think it is the most hype character to watch by a mile.
there is nothing better than juggling a cocky player with incineroar up air
Please cover colateral hitboxes. Maybe even get-up attacks, ledge get-ups etc. This way the videos will feel more complete.
WHOOOOO though I'm surprised you didn't use Incidious for the Illiteration
Please put ice climbers on the poll! I’ve been playing them a lot lately and their hitboxes are jank af
Hmmm, That explains why i am too strong.
for the record, the backthrow collateral hitbox is even stronger than the actual back throw. I’ve won games by backthrowing my teammate with an unsuspecting opponent in the collateral range. They get deleted!
Cool vid n' all but holy shit that one kill on Mega Man made me feel bad for the AI
Collateral hitboxes are very interesting to see
I want to see more collateral hitboxes
The title of this video should have been "Incineroar's Intimidating Hitboxes" because incineroar has intimidate as a hidden ability
New video? Pog
A new hitbox video, HYPE. Thx for your explanations as usual.
Can you do Inkling's Hitboxes? I love Inkling so much and nobody ever really talks about them for some reason
I'd love to see meta knights hitboxes!
Don't worry Ike, I'm sure your hitbox analysis is coming out soon. Apparently just got to wait until every other character gets there first. jk, love this series.
Inflammable means flammable??? What a country!
Incineroar has incredible moves, the problem is that they're on Incineroar
If he had so much as average mobility he would be an easy high tier if not top tier
Im waiting on a falcon video so bad
I want to see the collateral hit boxes. Please include.
If you do corrin's definitely with the collateral hitboxes
Its weird how incineroar doesnt have any of his pokemon moves are fire type
Collateral hitboxes are very useful against characters like Rosalina and the Ice Climbers
Ima Point the fact that it's basically lucario but about Hitboxes and lucario is mostly range and charge
The only reason I would want collateral hitboxes is for ice climbers. It is actually really relevant in that matchup.
The hitboxes are collateral on Side-B, at least the lariat.
These videos are Awesome!! but I'm too young for Patreon so if you see this Rekzius Plz can you do Meta Knight. it would be very helpful.
We need more colatt hboxes
Roy hitboxes next?
11:18 I think its more like slam or something
When does the only thing advertised in the title happen?
next video you should do mewtwo that way you can fill in the first 20-30 seconds with an arbitrary bit about doing the pokemon created from the first pokemon second instead of first it would be very funny trust me
Yes… YES, Y E S ! COME TO PAPA!
The command definately has collateral hitboxs
Still waiting for Mii Brawler’s mind-boggling hitboxes.
Yes Incineroar, that too is my favorite waifu you're pointing at
If he were faster, he would honestly be pretty good
Wait, so alolan whip doesnt get extra knockback with revenge? Wow
Can you elaborate on how to escape incineroars side b?
Can you do a Kirby video?
Ike for the poll 😎
I want Kirby to be April Fools, like the video is only based on his copy abilities, like every copy ability replaces every other attack and special.
I have some ideas, including others not involving that, but I don't want to shove them down your throat or anything
0:39 SPLASH ACTS AS A WHAT?
Sex kick
Puff would Be a interesting pick, some disjointed. Some weird, and some very stubby.
Do all 3 link hitboxes in one vid please.
To be fair… I’d argue that Incineroar’s hit boxes are at least more flammable than most characters in this game…
Inflammable means the same things as flammable, nice one English.
Most bad characters are bad because their moves are bad. Incineroar is bad because everything except his moves is bad. This is the most interesting character type to me.
This also applies to Mewtwo in Melee and Ganondorf in Smash 4.
Ma MAINNNNN LES GOOOOOO
Next up is Falco
Please
So I guess Incinaroar is Kane, He is Irish, He is a Grappler, He is Rey Mysterio, He is Drew McIntyre, He is Finn Balor, he is any wrestler you could imagine. If only they have him a piledriver, my favorite type of move.
You can tell that they put a lot of thought into the references. Some might be intentional some might not. I will list some Real Life WWE moves compared to Incinaroar
Fsmash looks a lot like McIntyre’s Claymore Kick.
Dair looks like Balor’s Coupe De Gras
Dthrow is Kane’s Chokeslam
Nair is a splash like lots of them do
Alolan Whip is literally just an Irish Whip
Darkest Lariat is a Pokémon move, so is cross chop, and revenge. His final smash is a Z move that he can use in his game.
His pummel is just a headbut
Dtilt is a leg sweep like move
His dash attack I would like to say looks like the running knee strike Champia uses, it also looks like a broge kick that sheamas uses.
His fthrow is like Cesaro’s swing
His up throw is kind of like a military press
Back Throw is quite literally Brock Lesnar’s signature German Suplex
There are definitely more moves he references but right now I don’t feel like writing anymore because there are so many
