Can you imagine what our ancestors had to go thru the make a quilt. They didn’t have these awesome rulers and rotary cutters that I am sure we all take for granted. Everything was hand sewn and they came out beautiful!
I agree. They are really such an art form! 😘
Learning to "see" where /how the blocks go together is game-changing! Once you learn it you almost don't see quilts the same
Yes! And it never stops once you learn to look for the patterns in a quilt. Walking into the quilt store and examining all of the display quilts is almost an incontrollable urge 🤣
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I was in an office recently and they have quilts for decor. You can bet your girl got as close as possible without touching it see how they went together .😂
I am a 71 year old quilter with fifty years of experience but learn so much from Christin every time. Plus I love her personality, tone and enthusiasm, so glad a 73 year old newbie has joined all of us in "I see stars".
Side note, it is not Wednesday, is this a bonus or just early this week? Love either way.
You caught me 😘 today is Tuesday! I have a live video scheduled for Friday night with @sisterchicksquilting so I thought I would space them out a bit this week. Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
I loved this very simple but detailed square. Please keep them coming.
Lisa, thank you for your kind words. I will do my best.
Love your tutorials. Am a 73 year old newbie to quilting. Watched your Jelly roll race video, and finished two tops. You're amazing.
Yes!! That's amazing. Good for you on the 2 finished tops!
I love this channel. She makes it all so simple.
You are so very sweet.
Beautiful block Christen. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
I’ve got a $40 Sunbeam iron that has been working great for 3 years now. I don’t put water in the iron, I put it in one of those mister bottles. When I first started learning to iron, I realized I was going too fast. I now take it slower and my pieces end up flatter. 😉💜
That is a great tip and a good reminder - I probably tend to go on the fast side as well - Ready to get finished with my projects! 🤣🤣
@@ISeeStarsQuilting It took me awhile to slow it down. I’m glad to see your feeling better. 😉💜
Thank you. I’m in the middle of packing to move but I can’t wait to get moved and try this. I’ve seen these before and was scared to try one. Now I feel I can tackle it with your tutorial. So detailed. Again thank you.
Oh you can absolutely do this! Good luck on your move... What a stressful time, but worth it when you get all settled!
@@ISeeStarsQuilting thanks
I love this block and the way you broke it down to sew. Thank you 💜
You're so welcome! I'm happy to share 😘
Love this block. I'm gonna try it this week. Thanks ❣️
I hope you enjoy it! 🥳
Thank you so much. You have taught me a lot. I am a new quilter. I get real nervous when it come cutting . Not sure how to use rulers
This is a great idea for a video that I'm sure other people could benefit from too. Thank you. I'll add it to my list and work on one for you 😘😘
Also, keep going forward. The more you do, the more you learn!
I love your tutoring videos. Learned so much even though I’ve been at this awhile. Always looking for easy and quick and you are the best I’ve seen. Will be following you from now on. I’m 80 years old so learning new tricks is not always easy but you make it so clear that I can do it.
Aw thank you! That is quite a compliment and it means a lot to me because I really want quilting to be a fun activity and not a stressful one. I'm sure there are many things that you could teach to other quilters too. Thank you for watching 😘😘
I love your tutorials. Not boring at all. Thank you
Thank you! 😘
I absolutely Love this!! Thank you for sharing this tutorial😊
It's so fun, isn't it? I'm glad you liked this block 🥳🥳
Great video! I am going to make this!😊
I hope you enjoy it! 🙌
I will try this, I am not a fan of flying geese so glad it should be fun. I just want to keep it to 3 fabrics per block so I have to figure out what is what with a chart.
ooh thats a really pretty idea! I love the idea of 3 fabrics 🌟🌟🌟
I am very new to quilting and learning everything from you tube videos. With this block I had a little trouble understanding how to assemble the outer pieces.
I'm sorry it was a little confusing. It is always difficult to try to get absolutely everything across in video - is there questions I can answer for you?
@@ISeeStarsQuilting Thanks for the reply. I will take it step by step and most likely figure it out.
Just found you. Thank you for this.
So glad you found me! 😘
Going to try this. I've Breen sewing for years but not quilts.
Let me know how it goes! Quilting is a little different, but opens up so many different creative opportunities - and being a quilter moving on to other sewing projects does the same thing! 🥳🥳
I love my little iron like that. I have batting and cotton fabric covering a tv tray stand beside my machine for quick pressing then my ironing board is across the room for pressing when it is too big for the tv tray. I also like Soak Flatter. I don't care for the fig scent tho 😕.
Fig scent... what an interesting choice. I don't suppose that would be my favorite either. Good to know. Thank you for sharing!
💝💝💝💝
Love the block. I was surprised however that you don't set your seams and that you press from the back. This s sometimes causes a small fold on the front at the seam in my experience. It's a beautiful block however and I will probably try making one today. Thanks for sharing.
should you not have 3-3/4 " of each fabric for creating 3" HSTS
I am anxiously waiting for you Pioneer Woman fabric quilt >Are close yet to its debut?
Im actually trying to make your quilt block
I am! I have to do the binding on it then I'm done!
Love your color choices and this block.
I wonder if your diagram of the block could be reproduced as a download?
Just a thought….
That's a great idea. I'll have to add that to the list 😉
Thank you
I want to try this one😊@@ISeeStarsQuilting
Did you say that there would be a pattern for the staryquilt we could download?
There's no pattern... I just used squared and hst pieces
Based on the instructions I sewed the 3x3 fabric 1 with the 3x3 fabric 2 squares.... but now nothing is lining up. Should the fabric 2 cuts have been 3 3/4 squares instead? Pretty bummed since I already cut all my pieces 😥 i think in there needs to be an additional 4 cuts 3x3 3/4 cuts of fabric 2. Then these are used with the 3 3/4 of fabric 1 to make the half squares
I'm sorry yours aren't lining up! I'm not sure what happened for you, Jessica 😫
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I figured it out! Once I cut the below, (additional 4 squares of Fabric 2) everything came together and it looks super cute! Can't wait to finish the rest of the blocks! Thanks for such a cute block pattern and walkthrough. 😄
Fabric 1: (4) 3"x3", (4) 6"x6", (4) 3 3/4"x3 3/4", (4) 6 1/2"x6 1/2"
Fabric 2: (4) 3"x3", (4) 6 1/2"x6 1/2", (4) 3 3/4"x3 3/4"
i have wasted fabric cutting it wrong according to your instructions! 😞
I'm not sure what happened here? Did you get it figured out and make the star block?
