I just love watching you. I get a kick out of you. I’m 72 and I’ve only been sewing for about three years. I appreciate all the tips and tricks and time you put into every video. Thank you so very much😊
Aw thank you Debbie! I appreciate you watching my videos 🥰🥰
I have just discovered your channel Christen and absolutely adore you. I am very new to sewing and quilting and your tutorials are really great, really helpful and inspiring. I just love your no fuss, let's not stress, no drama attitude. You are amazing and I will be coming back to your channel continuously xxxx
Aw thank you! I'm so glad you found me. If you have any questions, please reach out. I'm happy to help 😘😘
What a fun quilt! It's really a memory quilt isn't it with all those remnants of projects past. What a great idea to use up scraps. I love it!
So glad you love it! It's a really enjoyable one to create!
I love scrap quilts and your suggestion to use interfacing is great. Not only do you not have to tear out the papers, but there’s no danger of accidentally “splitting” the the seams as you pull on the papers. Ask me how I know😩 Thanks for the video!
It did work out really nice and it didn't add as much bulk as I thought it would the trick is the thin interfacing 🥰 sorry you had to learn the hard way! We all learn those lessons!
totally agree.
Great things she shows us!
This quilt is really pretty. I love scrappy quilts. 💜
Christen - I LOVE this quilt. It's real pretty and looks like a FUN method🥰 Thanks Girl❣ p.s. Love your green glitter glasses! Fab!!
Awe thanks a million. I love all my colorful accessories! 😆
This is the best scrap quilt ever!!!!!
You are too sweet.
I love this idea for scraps! I’m thinking this would be a perfect beginner quilt to make with my granddaughter. I’d sew the strips end to end and then sew the Jelly Roll Race. Great idea, thanks.
Very smart! she would get the basics without the fuss of having to be perfect. 🙌🏻 and an amazing project to work on with you
You have inspired me make the same quilt from my scraps that have over taken my quilting room. Thank you for the fantastic idea for a scrappy quilt. I So enjoy watching you videos.
oooooooh yes! You're SO going to LOVE the way it turns out! 🥰🥰 Have fun!
Scrappy is my favorite! I love this!
I love scrap quilts, great idea.👍🏻 You have beautiful skin.
Thank you so much! Thats so sweet 😘
I just found your channel today! I love this way you make your own jelly roll! I have done this with paper adding machine tape but then you have to remove the paper when it is done and it will split the seams if your stitch length isn't small enough. I love the idea of using interfacing! Freaking Brilliant! I love this so much. Thanks for such a great idea and a lovely quilt!
Hey Rebecca! I'm so glad you found my channel 🤩 I bet you're going to make a beautiful quilt! Some of the other commenters also suggested using muslin fabric which I think is also brilliant.
I'm fairly new to sewing/quilting but I love learning from you.
Aw Thank you Marie! That makes me so happy! Keep learning and quilting 😘😘
My dear you are delightful. I love watching your videos. Happy Sewing!!
Aw thank you! I appreciate you watching my videos 😘😘
I love those morning ideas!!!
You are wonderful! Love love your videos. Thank you 🙏🏼 ❤😊
Thank you so much! 😍
DROWNING IN SCRAPS TOO! I feel ya, sistah! (Love the name…scraptastic lol!)
You are not alone my friend. :)
This is a perfect way to do the sewing I love at the end of a work day. No stress, fun and no pressure to finish. I love it! Thank you
That's wonderful! My favorite kind of sewing too 💖💖
Welcome to the club. While packing to move I had as many totes of scraps as I did yardage.
Oh my... Are you just a collector or are you planning to use them for a project? 🥳🥳
❤love watching you. The quilt is beautiful. Good job!
Thank you! 😊 That means so much.
I 🥰 your green glitter glasses also!!
Awe, thank you! I love pops of color.
What a great idea! I can’t wait to try this. I’ve been doing adding machine tape trying to get through all my scraps. I’ll give you a shoutout if I use this idea on a video. God bless.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! 😘😘
I have an old pillow case near my sewing table that I fill with the small scraps, to make a pillow. And I like using old bed sheets to sew like you sew.
Your strip is just cute. 😍
That is a great idea, I love it!!
@@ISeeStarsQuilting Thanks. I have interfacing at home, so I will try your method too.
I would have kept some of your bigger scraps that you are throwing away. I would sew a couple of them together and use them in another strip. I like to use every usable bit of fabric. Fabric is so expensive and I don't like to waste beautiful fabric. But to each their own. Your quilt turned out really cute. Any baby, young child or even a senior citizen would love it.
Everyone has a scrap size limit 🤷🏼♀️ I'm glad you're so resourceful with your fabrics!
It's a beautifull quilt. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks so much for this great idea! My large tub that I started probably a year ago is full and overflowing with scraps. I have to do something with it. Thanks for this great idea. Merry Christmas and God bless you. Your sweet spirit is one of an encourager, and you've helped me not to be so hard on myself and my quilting! Thank you so much!
Helen, Thank you so much for letting me know that you've enjoyed my videos. I appreciate the feedback! And yes, quilting is for enjoyment and fun! 🤩🤩
I love the results of your quilt.
Thank you so much Bonnie, that means so much!
OH MY GOODNESS! I just love this! The colors. The quilting “scrapbook” of projects. The Jelly Roll Race type of construction. Amazing. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! It really is fun to see all the projects I've worked on coming back again through the scraps 🥳
Great idea! Also, I am obsessed with your glasses!!!
Thank you 🤓🤓 I love anything that sparkles!
Great idea! I definitely want to try this. I have made a few with the paper roll but haven’t used them in a project yet.
I would love to see it when you do make it 😘😘
I have so many scraps also. I have mine separated by color in zip lock bags. Along with using interfacing; use scrap interfacing, sheets, muslin etc., all that are that same jelly roll width. I so love that idea!! Thank you so much for sharing!
organized in ziplock bags... you are my hero 😘 Let me know if you decide to try out this method! I would love to see your quilt top
Great idea Christen!!! Love it!!!❤️
Thank you so much! 🥰
I too have seen this with adding machine tape. But, using interfacing sounds so much better. I can't wait to try this.
The machine tape was a new one on me, but this worked great! Thanks for watching 🥰
Love this. 😊 thanks.
Brilliant idea using interfacing!!
Glad it was helpful! 😘😘
I'm so happy to see what you've done with scraps. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😘
Thanks as I am over run with scraps (and jelly rolls!)
Great idea! Love it!
Thanks so much for watching 🥰
I love it!!!
Thank you! 🤩
Very cute! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for watching! 😘😘
Absolutely beautiful!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Laurie! 🥰 It was a really fun project to play with!
This is a great idea and looks like a lot of fun!
It was such a fun project, yes! 🤩
This is beautiful! Thanks!
Glad you like it! Thank you! 😘😘
I love this idea!! Thank you for sharing!
You're so welcome! Glad you liked it! 🥰
Looks great! I need to make one for sure❤
please send me a picture when you do, I would love to see it! 😘
really cute!!
Thank you! 😊
I like the interfacing better than adding machine tape….it becomes part of the quilt top and you don’t have to pull all the paper away!
Thanks for watching 🥰 I had never considered machine tape before 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for this tutorial! I was going to make one using adding machine tape - your idea sounds much better in the long run to use and I’m going to stick with your way 😊
I've been tossing around the idea of making a crazy quilt and saw the adding machine tape idea too. I'm like you and will use this method too. Just added the fusible to my next Amazon haul list.
WOW. Your quilt is gorgeous. That says a lot coming from me as after a few years I'm still trying to embrace scrappiness!
@@shelleyriley9130 I already had a bold in my laundry room not knowing what to do with it. Now it has a purpose! Happy Sewing!
If you know anyone who has used machine tape before I would love to compare methods and see which way works the best! I love all the energy and ideas that have sparked! 🥳🥳
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I'm not 100% certain, but I believe I saw the machine tape used by Just Get It Done Quilts in one of her scrap videos. She cuts her fabric scraps into 2.5" squares and rectangles and sews them to the adding machine tape in the same manner (stitch and flip) that you did to the fusible. When the scrappy strip is complete, she tears away the machine tape, irons the strips and has a completed jelly roll strip. Just went to see if I was right. This is the link to her video. ruclips.net/video/9YGc6z75dqA/видео.html
Another great idea! Love it!
Thank you 🥰🥰
I found you through the Ugly Christmas Quilt and am working my way through your videos. This is such a good idea. Thanks
That is wonderful! There are tons of videos to keep you busy 🤣
Great job! That quilt has so many memories!
Right?! That's what I see when I look at it too! 🥰🥰
Great idea! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!😊
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 🥰🥰
How clever!Thanks.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
I love this fun quilt.
It is such a fun one to make! 🥰
Super cute quilt!! 🪡🧵✂️
Thank you! I love your emojis! 😘
Beautiful
Thank you 🥰
Great idea!
Thanks! It was a really fun one to work on 🥰
I am using the interfacing - 10" wide x 63" long - I am sewing my strips across - coin quilt style.
Wonderful!!! Thank you for sharing that.
What a wonderful idea! Thank you so much🤗
😘😘
I loved this video! Thank you for another wonderful tutorial ❤
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching 🤩🤩
Love it scrapy quilt
It is such a fun one 🤩 and nice to just let it be easy!
I absolutely love the way your quilt turned out. It is so much fun to watch you. You have so much energy and you can feel the love you put into every stitch on your fabric.
What a great idea! I will try it. Thanks for the inspiration! ❤
I would love to see your quilt when you so try it! ❤️
Wow, that's beautiful! You have such great ideas. Thanks for sharing:)
Thank you Nancy! I appreciate you watching 🥰
You are just full of amazing ideas! I’m trying this one!
please let me know how it goes for you! I would love to see your finished quilt top! 😘😘
Christen Love this idea. Looking forward to seeing the end result.
Thanks for watching 🥰
I received my Stitched Academy envelope today. How fun! Thank you. The fabric sample is adorable!
Hey Linda! So good to hear from you! Glad you enjoyed it 🥳🥳
Pretty need idea never would have thought of it your great thank you
Thank you for watching Sally 😘 I appreciate you watching!
I love this idea, what a beautiful quilt. I am a newbie but would love to try this technique. Thanks for sharing your Scraptasic quilt.
This one is totally beginner friendly 😘 though you probably don't have as many scraps as I have laying around. Jelly roll quilts are wonderful for beginners!
I watched your other video and had this same idea !! This is awesome @
Thanks so much for watching! 🥳🥳
I had just had an "I wonder what Christin does with her scraps" moment... and BOOM... her it is
Lol 😆 I love it... Although... You saw my scrap stashes... I haven't done a ton with them lately except collect 😱
I agree with you 100% Sew the Distance! I have only been making quilts for about 3-4 years now. I have been saving a piece of each fabric I have used in the approx. 25 quilts I have made. I have been trying to think of a way to make blocks that are cohesive to sew into a quilt. I think too much sometimes. This idea is PERFECT to make my “scrapbook” quilt from. Now I am excited to start putting some strips together. Thank you again for another fantastic idea.🎉
I love the idea of calling it a scrapbook quilt...loco Scraptastic scrapbook? 🤪🤪
I can’t wait to use this idea! Are you going to put a border on it? I think it would be great to use a solid or grunge and then use a multi colored stripe on the binding.
Oh... Well now I might! 🤣 You had me a grunge border and my mind immediately saw a black frame around it. Thanks for the suggestion 🥳 I'll post again after I get it quilted
This is a wonderful idea to use interfacing!! Now I am inspired to attack my scraps.... would make a good picnic blanket :)
Yes, absolutely a great picnic quilt! I would love to see your quilt when you decide to make one 😘
Christen this is an awesome idea. I have some fabric scraps to use up.
I am so glad you like it.
I love your creativity. I would not have known to add interfacing thank you for the great tip. By the way your glasses are awesome
Thank you for watching! And 🤓 thanks for noticing. I love anything with sparkles ✨
So cute👌I really like to do scrap and crumb blocks. I use the a thin piece of fabric cut into 10 in blocks, then sew scraps to the blocks by color. I have made 6 twin quilts by this method. My scrap pile is really going down(yeah). Now working on scrap quilt with big blocks of leftover fabric. Keep up your videos; enjoy your friendly and funny presentations. You are so talented and your projects are so doable. What is that pink glow near your window? Take care😀
Hey Connie! The scrap blocks are another project I'm working on. I think it's a great use of fabrics! Fyi, the pink light is just a spotlight that I use to make it look pretty behind me in the videos 😘
I love it! Gonna try it. Do a cross hatch to quilt it.
That would be cool! Love that quilt designs are already coming to mind 🤩 I would love to see your quilt when you do make it!
This looks super cute! I am working on a similar project but I am using wash away stabilizer that I got in a 5 inch roll. I am doing my scrap strips in colors and I work on them when I need a break from another project.
What is the brand of the washaway stabilizer? I didn't know it came in rolls! 😱
@@ISeeStarsQuilting It’s called gypsy quilter scrap tape. You can buy it in 2.5 and 5 inch rolls, from Amazon, Fat Quarter Shop and I think Missouri Star. I will say that you have to be careful about using a really hot iron on it directly as it can shrivel up a bit. But other than that it’s great!
I love your ironing board cover! I was going to make one or order one from Love Sew or Connecting Threads.
thank you. I just took some scrap fabric and used industrial staples to attach it to a smaller board.
Would love this pattern
I’m working on mine already
how awesome! Please send me a photo when you get it finished! I would love to see it! 😘😘
❤❤❤
Well, thats a loco but fun idea!!!
Thank you 😘😘
I love how this project made you so happy.
It is totally going on my list of must do.
This is a great way to use those small bits of fabric.
Thanks for the great inspiration.
You're so welcome, Jane! I would love to see your quilt when you make one 😘😘
I really like a thinner batting that I only find at Joann’s. Would be great for this since you have that extra layer in there.
Ooh what's your favorite batting brand?
Just wanted to say love the idea. Perfect for a summer quilt that does need batting or you could possibly use minky for the backing?
Minky would be a great soft backing! Great Idea! 🥳🙌🏻
Such a great idea. Thank you for sharing this Loco tip. I do wonder about the added weight of the fusible and what type of batting you will use in your quilt. I ask because I'm a new quilter and live in Texas and don't want to make anything too heavy or too hot. You know those fleece throw blankets that Walmart and other big box stores sell for super cheap (less than $5) this time of year? Do you suppose I could omit the batting and use those fleece throws for a backing fabric that would turn out okay?
Shelley, I'm in Houston :) totally understand the need for a quilt that's not too warm! I think you could use one of those cheap fleece blankets as a backing but my main concern with those would be the pilling of the fabric over time. It's cheap, made to be cheap and would definitely not last as long as your fabric on the quilt top. You could try wool batting or a thin cotton to keep it nice and light 🥰
@@ISeeStarsQuilting Well, to be honest, I buy those cheap blankets for my fur babies, so never really concerned myself with pilling or long term wear. I also replace them every year or two, so they don't stay around long enough to see how well they might last. LOL I'm still leaning toward omitting the batting and finding another solution for the backing. Maybe a good flannel? Possibly a better quality blanket? I don't know, but will let you know what I decide and how it turns out.
@@shelleyriley9130 I’ve heard some will use a bed sheet as “batting” &/or backing & are very happy with the results. Pros & cons to everything, huh? 😉
@@lesa6399 I've seen a couple of people use the pretty, floral vintage bed sheets found in thrift stores for backing and their quilts turned out beautiful. I would like to try that some day. Even saw one lady use the vintage sheets for the front and back of a quilt and had it quilted up in a pretty design and that turned out really nice. Although, that method looked more like a store bought quilt/bedspread. I knew a poor country lady many years ago who made beautiful quilt tops from scraps of fabric and used a thicker Walmart style blanket as her batting/backing. That's where I got the idea from. Since I'm a new quilter, I'm just trying to get ideas and input from everyone.
Nice idea. Beautiful result - all those memories! I'm just wondering, is there 'give' to cutting the interfacing lengthwise or widthwise that we should be careful of? I'm looking forward to trying this! Thanks, Christen.
That is a very good question... and I have to say I do not know the official answer to give to you. When I was cutting it... I didn't notice anything inparticular either way. I cut it in a way that made it most easy to get strips that were close to the right size. I guess it might depend on the brand of interfacing too?
🥰
Is this a variation of a flip and sew method? Another great video and you are moving that shoulder a lot, congrats.
It's a very similar process, yes! And thank you. I'm getting much better 😘
you can sew your scraps to adding machine tape it works the same and helps keep fabric stable only difference is its 3.5 in wide just don't take paper off until ready to sew strips together
I've heard the machine tape idea too (after I tried interfacing!) Very smart 🙌🏻
Lol I'm drowning in scraps... I don't know how it happened?! Sounds a good place to be :) | make these too a lot - use them on pillows to frame bigger pieces of fabric and on makeup pouches. It's such a good way to use fabric you really love in a different way.
It is a very blessed place to be indeed 🥰 haha
I love love love scrap projects!! Also, I love your shirt! Where is it from? 😂
Oh I see a fellow Disney Nerd!! 🤩🤩🤩 It is an older printed shirt from Hot Topic, I think LOL It might have been Torrid? They were both faves of mine at the time for tees.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting yessss! Mega Disney nerd! I'm looking at making a Disney quilt this year too just because!
Rather than dealing with the interfacing, use muslin. It’s much cheaper.
Or old bed sheets.
I really enjoyed the jelly role quilt . I want to learn more about quilt , please can you guide me to where I can go and learn . I live in Herndon where are your classes held please do let me know thank you.
I have several classes online that you can access at stitch.academy ✨✨
Would you please post what product for interfacing you purchased on Amazon.....there are so many listed! Thank you!
I purchased this one amzn.to/3DhkBKa 🥳 happy to share the link with you!
You can use nonfusable. Can iron it any time
Great tips Sandra!!!
What kind of interfacing did you use? I might have missed what you said it was.
I used pellon brand, lightweight, single side fusable interfacing 🥰
Cannot believe anyone has more scraps than moi…will fight anyone for the record..lol🇨🇦
This is hilarious, Pauline 😂😂 I'm certain you could have a few contenders lined up easily
Do you have a product number for the fusible interfacing that you used?? TY!
This is the one I purchased on Amazon: amzn.to/3DdufwZ It is Pellon Fusible 911FF - White - 20" x 10 Yards. Hope that helps you find it 🤩
@@ISeeStarsQuilting TY for your help!
