    Hi Christen. I love scrappy quilts, and I am about to start a new quilt using this half-square triangle method for the first time. The field of the quilt is called Kentucky Chain, which is pretty much all half-square triangles, so I’m hoping I end up loving this method. It’s going to have a center with a tumbling block weave, which I just discovered how to do this year. Fingers crossed it looks as good as I think it will. I really enjoy your videos, so thanks! Peace from Ohio …

    I love your fabric choice! I’ve never done the 8 at a time HST blocks. I always over cut and do two at a time and trim back to size. So I’ll have to cut some fabric and play with them. This was a great video! Very well done. ❤

    I also love to make tops but have a hard time quilting because another top idea calls to me. I do not have a long arm but finally decided I was going to send them out to a professional when I reached 16 tops, yikes. Now if I would just get the binding on I would be done. Sigh. I just love your happy tutorials, thank you.

    Cute fabric! I'm like you and many others - I love to make the quilt tops, not so much the rest of it. I don't even really mind the quilting/binding process. What I hate to do is put that quilt sandwich together - wrestling with the backing and the batting, and then basting it all - ugh. I do my quilting on my domestic machine; so once in a while if I have a quilt that is special or that I really, really love, I splurge and send it out to a long-armer.

    (Notes from my personal sweatshop). This is my favorite way to make HST's. Trimming them with a Triangle ruler (with measure on seam line) saves a ton of time when you have HUNDREDS to make...You are saving two trims. Also, if you are making SMALL HST's...Trim using a triangle ruler and then cut apart---gives you more base to handle.

      Yes! It's a cactus!! 🌵🌵🥰🥰 isn't it amazing?! It's one of my favorites. I use a clear wide foot that came with my machine. I don't know which one it is.... But I know there are many out there that are generic and for multi machines. You should be able to find a clear foot that will fit your machine. If you want to know which janome foot, write me back here and I'll make sure and look when I'm at home for you!

    That was great! Thanks for sharing how easy it is to make hst. Like you, I much prefer to make quilt tops. Must get over myself and finish some quilts.
    Question 🙋🏻‍♀️. Where would you suggest to purchase yardage/bolts for back ground fabric? I have settled on the preference for muslin as my standard background.

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  2 года назад +1

      muslin is a great budget friendly option because you can buy it in bulk and it will last you a long time. I really have just bought the fabric for each quilt back as I've been quilting them. Or I'll find fabrics on sale and buy several yards to use as backing later.

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  Год назад

      I used 42 of the white squares too. You don't have to but you'll end up with a smaller quilt with less fabric - You could always do it and add a border if you want it larger? Its creators choice! 🥳

    ? What is the difference between Flatter and Best Press? I like using a rotating mat so cutting is even easier when I cut the HST

    • @m0ther0ne
      @m0ther0ne 2 года назад

      Best press is a mild starch, where as flatter has no starch affect, just flattered the seam. A mist of water or stem does the same thing, but do be careful full as hat are on the bias
