I love the layout for this quilt. Thank you! Just a suggestion, if you drew a line from corner to corner instead of cutting it, put two contrasting rectangles pieces right sides together, then stitched on both sides of the drawn line, a 1/4 inch away from the line, THEN cut it apart on the line, you would instantly get two 2 blocks and save some time. You also not have to worry about sewing those bias pieces back together. Just a thought! Thanks again for your video!

This only works if you have squares. If you do this with rectangles then you get quadrilaterals that look funny.

Teach them to sew and they will have markable skills/memory’s with you always. I love sewing and quilting, and my mother taught me the basics, but not to the extent that you can do. I went to high school with a girl who made all her own clothes, and they were far better than anything man made in stores. I’m trying to pick up my knowledge and make more quilts and tailor made clothes because I don’t like most things in stores. Good luck with your grandchildren and sewing projects you all do together. When they have enough skills that you taught them, maybe you could give them a basic sewing machine as a “reward.” This will be a wonderful way to inspire them to sew/quilt with grandma.

You can stitch about 2" and carefully PUSH not pull on thetopfabric to help ease it into the one underneath. Just lift your presser foot push to ease gently and sew a few more inches. It's called "Park and Pinch"

I want to mention this after i cut my pieces. That fat quarters or the ones I got come in rectangles. I got so disheartened when I was putting the triangles together that the edges on one were wonky and I thought it was smaller than the others. They're all the same size though and when I place them together, they form a rectangle; exactly as planned. It takes a lot of oomph to cut through 12 layers though and I'm fairly sure my rotary blade was almost brand new. I love this pattern though as it's easy and I always seem to buy fat quarters for future projects. The quilt I'm making is going to be watermelon themed because I bought two bundles of 5 then found two separate singles of watermelon, so I got 6. I believe I have two yards of watermelon fabric somewhere...most likely purchased in the summer and stashed away.

You definitely do have a great camera presence and your voice is perfect for a how to video. Thanks for your teaching!

Thank you for your tutorial. I remember helping my grandma make quilts but I have never made my own. I saw your video and now I have enough confidence that I am going to try! My question is, do you have other videos showing how to add the batting and binding, a step-by-step process? Thank you again!!

Try an 8 pound dumbell on the other end of your ruler to prevent slipping.
