MM4 is my own personal favorite, mostly just 'cause it came along during the right time in my life and the intro cut scenes inspired the creation of the Waterhands and all that jazz. Still, poor Toad Man.

+NintendoCapriSun my fave is 3, mainly because the controls were PERFECT, the weapons were amazing, the levels were just the right amount of challenge, and PROTOMAN!!!
4 is the best out of all of the games, best weapons, best soundtrack(because it sounds Russian) some of the best bossses, and a balanced buster(I’m looking at you 5)

A lot of people have hated on MM4, but it was also my childhood favorite. Also, as it was my first Megaman game, I was shocked by the Dr. Cossack reveal! (That I would have otherwise seen coming).

Megaman 8 was actually my favorite growing up, right next to Megaman x. I enjoyed trying to get the screws for all the different upgrades.
2,3, and 4 are just some of the best games ever. Music, control, difficulty, all pretty much perfect.

No one will believe me, but I designed Dust Man. My original design involved a long suction attachment that worked like a vertical only grapple hook, and also there was a function where megaman would suck in things shot at him and send them back. Honestly, I think my original idea was cooler than shooting.. crap basically.

megaman 6 is the best game in the classic series imo
awesome soundtrack, imo better than even megaman 2
variety in each level
most weapons have great uses
rush adapters are awesome
no unreasonable designs anywhere to be seen (megaman 2 is suuper guilty of this. tons of disappearing blocks (never fun.) and the boss near the end where you are required to have a nearly completely filled crash bomber, and the final boss needing to be fought with bubble man's weapon.)
they're all good though. megaman 5 being my personal least favorite of the bunch.

MrChillaxin2010 Yes, I agree. Toys are ment to be played with. But some people like to collect them in boxes to put on display since they have no interest in the way they are used in game.

Other than some questionable voice acting, there was nothing wrong with Megaman 8. It was just different. I loved that they added animated cutscenes.

***** As great as Mega Man 8 was, I still can't get over the voice acting... or that one cutscene where Mega Man's getting electrocuted for... longer than necessary. The high-pitched screams were a bit much. I could practically hear Ocelot's voice saying, "Don't even think about using autofire... or I'll know...."

***** and even then, while I haven't played the original of these, I'm willing to bet the problem is actually just poor *english* voice acting, I played the japanese version of rockman X4 and didn't get why people hated the voice acting that much, it's actually pretty good (it was years later that I first cringed at "what am I fighting for"... and X's 5 year old girl voice).
The show has gotten a lot funnier since Gregg left, subtly is the way to go

Really interested to see Jirard's opinion of Mega Man 7. I know it's not generally favored by most people, but 7 is honestly one of my favorites.

Mega Man 8 was the only classic Mega Man game I grew up with as a kid (I'm a teen now). I though it was pretty good.
The cutscenes LOOK great.... Audio wise uhhhhh, play the Japanese version? (I only own the Japanese version)
***** Only major drawback from the anniversary collection version of 8 is that there's very noticable input lag the moment you try to use recording hardware or attempt to stream it.
Same here, for my was the first Megaman I play when I was a little kid. And to this day I still think it's a pretty good game

I pretty much agree Jirard, all 6 NES Mega man games are great, I like them all and I have all 6 for my NES. But I think those extra castles are really cool like Cossack´s castle or Protoman´s castle. My presonal favourites of the series are 2,4 and 5, and I am pretty good at these games, because as a kid when I was not in school, I was at home playing Nintendo, so I used to play these games and a lot. =)

Megaman six is my personal favorite, as the rush adapters and the split paths where what really did it for me. It's just so unique and I love it.

pieturkey Why do people hate 8? Well the English cutscenes help, but for me it's all about the "Jump jump jump, slide slide slide" on rails segments that seemed really touchy and really obnoxious. They were a boring and frustrating segment that could have been replaced by real MM gameplay.
I can't wait to see your videos on Mega Man 7 and 8, and maybe ending it with what is unlocked in the Anniversary Pack Jirard!

Megaman 6 was the first game I ever bought. I saved my allowance and went to the local game store and picked it over Double Dragon. 20 years later the owner of the shop still remembered it. Unfortunately that shop closed down due to being unable to compete with GameStop. I don't want to sound preachy, but support your local stores. They have some of your best memories.

4 is the one I grew up on. I played that one so much that I can play it in my sleep just from muscle memory.

***** I love Legends don't get me wrong. But there were just some things that I didn't like about it. Like that there was no super hard level at the end. ;_; But Those song levels were pretty much the best thing ever. I don't know I like them both a ton I just perfer Origins cause I had good times playing it with my best friend and I like the artstyle a little better in origins for some reason.
first of all I prefer origin over non Wii U legends because of the art style (cartoon over 3D kinda models), difficulty, and the whole mess Ubisoft caused over the ports.
HOWEVER
Rayman 1 is the original, hard as nuts classic game. its perfect for the completionist because you have to bust all of the cages just to have access to the last level. one of the reasons I prefer origins over legends is the nostlagia it brings, bringing rayman 1 to life again.
when I say "the Completionist should play Rayman" I mean the original. I had lots of fun with the other games mentioned above, but I owe Rayman my love for gaming. Rayman is my jam.

Megaman is a series I never really managed to get in to, I've just never actually owned a Megaman game! Thanks to these reviews you've done on them I am determined to find at least one and play it!
get one of them off the nintendo eshop, i reccomend a later one such as 9 or 10 and an x game, possibly a zero game
Any of the first 3 X games would be good for a first MM game, however 9 10 and zero would also be good. So follow his advise!

Kevin Tisano I'm pretty sure Megaman 3 had I-frames for most robot masters, right? Also, keep in mind it also facilitates beating the stages in any order you please by giving you a powerful starter weapon you can rely on. Mind you, weaknesses are generally more effective and don't have a charge time attached to them so it evens out in the end.
I will say though, I miss robot masters having more than one special weakness, or reacting differently to them. I also miss rapid firing some of them to death with lemons. It certainly made them more unique and memorable. One shotting Metalman with a well aimed Metal Blade never gets old.
I too was hesitant of MM8 and found it weird but it certainly grew on me. It's one of the better of classic series I'd say.

My personal favorite Toad Man fight was the one time he didn't move against me, and literally jumped straight up twice.

Megaman 4 will always be my favorite for nostalgic reasons. It was the first one I ever beat from beginning to end. I had gotten partway through 2 and 3; but 4 was the one I dedicated myself to. I realize now that it's definitely not the best of the bunch (in my opinion that goes to 9, not 2 or 3) but I still love it more than the rest.
Music was too awesome, didn't noticed that the Toadman just doing jumps for the whole fight at first watch. SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT ! CHEATER-MAN !
My personal fav was Mega Man 3. It was the first one I played, and I played it A LOT. Also... Snake Man. Friggin Snake Man!
I still play Megaman's 4-6 often. I seriously hope they make a Megaman 11 and I hope they don't have Dr Wily use his saucer as the final fight AGAIN.
Kirby Air Ride would make for a great video. With a ton of different stars to unlock as well as a well-sized checklist, it'd be awesome to see an episode featuring my favorite game back when I was a kid. :D

After seeing Gajin Goomba's video, I was very intrigued by their world region styled designs for the characters. So that one I really liked in that way, but I still have some MegaMan Soccer boosted love of the 4 cast. Pharaoh for striker!

Wily stages are an endurance challenge as to running out of your E-Tanks etc., so it is never just padding. Besides, they are among the most interesting parts of the game, among other reasons, because you never know what types of bosses you will face.
I actually really like Megaman 8 more than the NES ones. That may be because it was my first, nostalgia goggles and all, but I found the level design and boss design was great. And using the screws to upgrade Rock was fun and rewarding (FYI, Arrow Shot is OP). The only bad parts were the painfully voice acted FMV anime cutscenes, which a lot of games had at the time, and the soccer ball attack you only needed to use twice in the whole game.

Mega Man 6 is my 2nd favourite Mega Man game (behind MM3) because of its many nice changes including the Rush Adaptor. Most people consider it the worst game because it changes so little but it actually does a lot of nice things differently.
Jirard is gonna be happy this year.
Jirard, you forgot *again* that since you are playing the Anniversary Collection there's a completion bonus for each and every game. Most of them are artwork and sounds however some of them are bigger like the First episode of The MegaMan Cartoon, or a 30 minute documentary on the creation of MegaMan from Inafune himself.

I reeeeelllllllllllyyyyyyy hope they do the Network games too, eventually. Those games where awesome! Definitely very different from the traditional megaman games but they were great in their own right.
