Correction: You CAN USE THE EXTRA CHARACTERS. Once you unlocked them, your character select scene in arcade will have arrow from both sides. Move the cursor out of the selection bar to highlight them.

Actually, you can use the unlockable bosses in arcade mode. You have to go off the screen (go right when you highlight Michelle or go left when you highlight Yoshimitsu) and there you go. Although, these characters don't have endings and you don't unlock anything with them, so they are kind of pointless to play with in arcade mode.
Not only that, but the game doesn't have an auto-save option, so it's easy to miss the fact that you unlocked them.

Jirard becomes #1 in the competitive Tekken scene taking the title "completionist" to a whole new level
Jirard, you can play the sub bosses in arcade mode just their faces are not displayed on the bottom of the character selection screen. So you have to keep scrolling across to select them.
In regards to unlocking Heihachi, yes you have to beat arcade mode without losing but you also have to do it in under 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

Don't forget it's king 1 which is a different one from king 2 from tekken 3 onward so we only know what the first king looks like

Funny you mention Taken because there's a bootleg Mega Drive game called *_VR Fighter vs. Taken 2_*, which is basically Virtua Fighter and Tekken.

In fact, the names King and Armor King are titles that can be passed down to a successor, kinda like how there have been multiple Robins (Dick, Jason, and Tim), Spider-Men (Peter Parker and Miles Morales), or even Ghost Riders (Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch, Robbie Reyes)

Derick Flores Technically, Smash is a real fighting game. It's just not a traditional fighting game.
He reviewed Smash 4 I think. And if you don't think that Smash is a "real fighting game" (whatever that even means) then go watch EVO 2015 and I guarantee you will change your mind.
Ryu is even in Smash 4. I don't even know what else to say except Smash Bros is real fighting game.
I have never been big on the fighting genre, but this video made me remember I used to LOVE Tekken. It really makes me want to go out and play a Tekken game just for old time's sake.
Jirard i rarely find your videos amazing, and I still like watching them but this one was spectacular you made me an admitted Tekken noob feel like someone who had played the game for years as you explained everything very well

Oh man, the first fighting game I've ever played. This really takes me back.
Nowadays, this game in particular doesn't hold up at all, but I respect it for its novelty and influence in the genre, and it gave birth to one of my favourite gaming franchises of all time, so I'm not even mad.

Man Skies of Arcadia has been on my mind a lot lately, ever since Shenmue came back I've been crossing my fingers for a sequel to that game, so when you picked up that copy and put it on your shelf I jumped a little. Great episode.

It can also be a result of pop-culture assimilation. Where the connection to JoJo itself is now lost, as the amount of people that took influence from it has just made these things common place and not spesifically a direct referance to JoJo. For instance, Paul pheonix's hair could be either a direct referance to Polnareff, or it could be the continuer of the trope of tall, upright hair-guy in a fighting game, as it was a thing with both Street fighter's Guile and Benimaru from King of fighters. Both predecessors were direct referances to Jojo's Von Stroheim and Polnareff respectively, but by the time Paul Phoenix dawned the hair, it had become a cliché of fighting games instead of being the referance like the predecessors were.

James Piesco Xenoblade chronicles would take a really really long time to complete. the story itself is like 100-ish hours long (depends on how fast you go).
Evan knutson Even if you are slow (which I was) the story is only 50-70-ish. If you are taking 100 hours, then either you are trying too hard (those poor souls that completed all of eryth sea's map without knowing discovering all landmarks fills up the map) or just screwing around, like those crazy ice physics in valak mountain.
マルス i never beat it myself, i got like 60 hours in. so i've just been going off of what i've heard.
I'm stoked that you're finally breaking into the fighting game genre. After seeing what kind of hell you went though trying to complete Skyrim, I'm really hoping I get to see what trying to beat Unlimited Mars mode in any of the Blazblue games will do to you. I'll keep holding my breath while I wait for that day to come.

My personal favorites are 3 and Tag Tournament. The cutscenes of 3 are unparalleled, in my opinion (not to mention the first game with Hwoarang, my favorite character), and there's nothing that can beat that tagging system in Tournament (or Bowling).

I ve the whole tekken series. It was my first fighting game and it always has been my favorite!
Ah... the end brought back very much good old memories when i still had my Game Cube. I don´t know how often i have finished this game but never made it to find all chests in the game no matter how hard i searched for them i mostly ended at 98% of the chests.
But mostly i liked my Delphinus that had the best stats just cus i keept the captains badges and didn´t "wasted" them into the Little Jack. Even the Stats of all my Chars where maxed out what took quite a while due of all the needed Gold to buy the berries but it was totaly worth it. But the game even had an "completion" bonus that was pretty rewarding once you have done all needed things to trigger it.
Sadly it never gave any chance to recieve an Black Moon Stone Crystal and i always wanted it when i discovered it in the Black Rift.
So thumbs up for an Completionist Episode for Skies of Arcadia Legends for the GC

Tekken was (and still is) my favorite fighting game along with Soul Calibur. Our first Tekken we had was Tekken 3 and I believe we got that around the same time we got Deadly Alliance. Both games were fucking great, but Mortal Kombat was just not on Tekken's level for me. Soul Calibur came close, but because I grew up with Tekken and started playing Soul a lot later on, I don't think it had the same childhood feeling to it.
Although, maybe the reason I love Soul so much is bc the Yoshimitsu clan are in both games?? Yoshimitsu is fucking awesome.
I remembered playing an arcade of one of the Tekken games which I always played as Armor King since he's cool while I was in a bowling alley.

tekken 4 was actually my first fighting game. so it's cool to see this.

Royboy140 you should start with Tekken 2, it is a big improvement from Tekken :)
I have all of them, even the spin-offs, I'd recommend playing them in order. Then you can see how well the series has grown; one of the first games I ever played was Tekken 3 and I've loved them all since. (The first is kinda dated, I can admit)

The Flipside. Most of the Saw episodes are recorded in bulk, and there hasn't been anything noteworthy in the comments so far. Soon enough they'll see if they add Jason or not, and there wouldn't even be a Saw series if people hadn't asked for it. So yeah, compared to 90% of let's players, he does interact with his audience a lot.
The Flipside. I would go back and see if any of those comments are on the first page, but I'll take your word for it. Though I will say, I don't recall any of them saying fists were better, only the ones saying there was a light attacks, but I don't have good memory. Still, compare that to, say, Game Grumps, and I think they come out on top XP.

Sorry for insisting so much but I very rarely scroll down further than the first 20-ish comments, and I'm pretty sure the Beard Bros. do the same as it's the default way of displaying the comments on a video, and it generally works best as it shows the ones with the most likes/replies
Best part about Tekken is the story. It's not even about fighting. It's a bunch of a holes trying to out a hole each other, who just happen to know how to fight. It's genius.

I don't wanna be that guy and nitpick mispronunciations yet... its weird how this is your favorite fighting franchise and yet you mispronounce Kazuya Mishima which is pronounced the same way in both English and Japanese for most of, if not all, the games. You may now proceed to hate me.

Man why did Paul have to become such a joke character in the later Tekken games, hes the only Tekken character I really like.

Because his character arc concludes in tekken 3 when he finally wins the tournament against heihachi, however he gets badly wounded by Ogre leaving Jin, who had previously been defeated by Paul in the semifinals, to face true ogre alone. He technically won the tournament though.
munnypantz Yeah, he's my favorite character too. He was supposed to be Kazuya's #1 rival in Tekken, but that got scrapped after Tekken 2, when they went forward with Jin and the Devil Saga. Paul, Law and now Steve are the three stooges of Tekken =/

Damn I thought he was going to do Street Fighter, but him doing Tekken made me happy. I remember when I was younger going to my friends house or my grandma's house to see my uncle. We would play Tekken a lot. I miss Tekken 3 and 4.I wish they would release them digitally.
I could tell that was Skies of Arcadia before you showed it up close. It's my favorite game. I beat it back on the Dreamcast.

is this a all time low or something? I use to love watching this show I have it subbed under my other 2 accounts. But a completionist completing a fighting game? REALLY? seems such a cop out to me. A fighting game takes what a couple hours to beat. 4-5 to complete full. I watch the completionist to watch Jirard completing a game that usually would take a normal person months and get a 100% this just seems weak.
I remember one time when I was a kid, I went to the movies with my dad but we had to wait half an hour or so. So to kill time we went to the arcade just to watch. There was a guy playing Tekken (no idea which, maybe 2), using Law, and he was good (I think, I sucked at fighting games and still do). The thing is, he had to go and tells my dad to continue for him. My dad takes his place without any idea and starts destroying everything like a pro, people gather around us till we had to go too and my dad passes the game to another guy. It was hilarious and great, I'll always remember Tekken for it :'D

That implementation of mini-game during loading screen was patented by Namco, until last year or so. Now you can legally do that kind of thing in your own game!
