I got a MRI scan of my head just to make sure everything was OK because in past years, I’ve struggled a lot with migraines and then I got pregnant with my daughter and went migraine free for two years and then I was having like a weird cluster of migraines at that point, I had my doctor for about a year and he sent me for an MRI he literally send me to a specialist anytime. I have a problem. He doesn’t question me like he doesn’t believe me and he just does everything he can to try and help me. Everyone in my family older than me and my siblings have all been diagnosed or passed away early due to some kind of cancer. It’s mostly breast cancer of 2 different types but a wide majority of other cancers too along both sides of my family. So I got a early mammogram every year for the past 3 years and I’ve done other genetic testing for certain genes that can be more likely to get cancer. I don’t completely remember what it’s called but I think it’s like the Broca gene or something like that. He’s been my doctor for almost 4 years now and he’s AMAZING!
It's not that hard to get a brain scan in the US. You don't know what you're talking about. I went to the ER with sudden head pain, and they did a head CT. We do head CT's left and right in the ER. Doing it outpatient will take more time, of course, but if it's indicated, you will get it done.
I want to give another perspective on story #1. My husband had a brain tumour. I am in OPs wife's position. Fortunately it was not misdiagnosed but it was also slow growing and affected his behaviour. He was worse after surgery. I want to say it is HARD being the spouse, the support person and carer, the bread winner and basically a single parent to our child. He is not capable of doing more than he is. I will never have my needs fully met again. Yes, I stayed. we are still together, but we are both different and will never get back to the partnership we used to have. I still grieve that loss. If it happened 10 years earlier, i am not sure i could have lasted out the years of emotional abuse i have endured. Things are better, he has, and still works really hard to improve and manage his impulsive behaviour. We are in a good place now, but it has been 9 years. At its worst he attempted to be physically abusive, but his paralysis meant he didn't have the strength to actually hurt me. He wanted to.... Dont judge OP's ex-wife too harshly. We should not put up with toxic behaviour just because it can be excused by a medical condition. People are too harsh on the carer. yes it is awful for the sufferer, but the carer is left with no life outside that caring role. i do not wish it on anyone. Those who care rarely talk about their experiences out of respect for the person they care for. I have worked for years with people with mental health conditions, and i was able to tap into my training to rationalise his recovery. That i needed to give him time to recover and learn to control his behaviour. We had been together 18years at that stage so i knew who he was before. I believe this is the only reason i stayed. The only time i talked to him about leaving was when he was at his worst and our child (then 3) was not coping. 9 years on i still work with our child on the impact it all had in the formative years. Anxiety, stress, nightmares. If he had not made active attempts to improve (for a while he didnt think he had to and i was the enemy) i would not have stayed - for our child's sake. But he did, and here we are. Last point, i want to be clear i dont resent him, i dont regret my choices, but i also think everyone needs to respect the choice to leave a bad situation, regardless of the reason for the bad behaviour.

I really hoped at least one person whose knee jerk reaction is to viciously villanise the wife, will see this and may be a small step toward choosing not to stay is ok even if they are ill. Same. My mother is a drug addict and the whole experience was extremely traumatic for me. I can't go through it again, especially knowing it's 100% up to the addict. When I was a kid I thought I could help her and it's just not true.
It's easy for us to say she made a bad choice in divorcing him, but she didn't know. I have a friend who divorced her husband for the same reason. He suddenly became very abusive and violent and beat her for no reason and she needed to get out for her own safety. Not an easy choice to make, but it was the correct one. She later found out it was a brain tumor but at that point it was too late and he later died. Just a tragic situation all around
I think a number of mental health concerns present themselves during that period. It has something to do with the development of the brain combined with genetics, and a bunch of other stuff that starts to take you down the "nature vs nurture" rabbit hole.

They were 21 and 22 when they started dating and op moved to Monday’s country, so they were together for about 6 years when all this went down. With the tumor... I think he should inform her sooner rather than later. Start with an apology for the past behavior, letting them know that you understand their hurt. Then let them know that there was a reason for the sudden changes and that you hope that by knowing that now, it can give them any closure that they may need. Let them know that you don't expect anything to come out of letting them know, but since he would want to know, that he thinks she has a right to know as well. Leave it at that.
My dad started acting strange towards my mom in his late fifties. He had always been very respectful and kind, but had started making comments that my aunt,(mom’s sister) said she never thought she’d hear him say anything like that to her. Two months later, my dad had a massive hemorrhagic stroke due to an avm, which was actually a birth defect. An artery and a vein formed together and the vein could not take the pressure of the blood from the artery. It was leaking, and caused bleeding and clots in his brain which affected his personality.
I'm only 4:29 into the 1st story, but it sounds like OP's tumor could be in his frontal lobe. His judgment and personality are greatly being affected, along with his fight or flight/paranoia responses. "Quick" TLDR to the last story (cause of the cut) Bf drove to gf (LDR) for upcomming surgery and to stay during recovery. Hours before surgery he try to initiate "sleeping with her", but she was uncomfortabel with it (do to doctors adivces). They drove to the apointment, she had the surgery, when she came out (can't see everything + some medication) he was outside the building (work related call). He drove her home and tryed to initiate "sleeping w her" again and he was pissed that she didn't want it the second time he asked and sleped alone in bed, while she was comfortable on the couch. They didn't talk about it for a while, when she brought it up and told him how she felt vulnetable and had anxiety bc of it/at that time.
An MRI doesn't work with radiation, it's a massive magnet. How it exactly works I don't really remember, had to learn it in vet school a long time ago. CT scans do work with X-Rays though.

Not to long ago I seen that experts found a link to those predisposed to it genetically can develop it with marijuana use. He was a heavy marijuana user. So just saying. If you have it in the family. Idk if contrasting someone with and without a tumor (that have the same psychological symptoms) should be that the non tumor patient has the mental faculties to correct them selves. It seems like the dude with the tumor was able to observe his issue as objectively as anyone else's once he had a proper diagnosis. Besides, it sounds kinda like "victim blaming" to say a person without a tumor can just fix themselves... like, would you seriously say that to someone with bipolar disorder?

Surgery story is sad to me.. weve had to go almost 6 months without due to a medical issue and ive never once worried i couldnt trust my husband to stay faithful. At that was when we were only 23/24.
I think it is an AH move to contact the ex wife before the surgery. Not only is there no guarantee that the brain tumor is actually cause there is also no guarantee there isn’t permanent damage that won’t change. Plus the surgery will be very risky and OP might die. There is no reason to reopen the wound and get the wife’s hopes up with no guarantee things will even be like they were before. If he gets the surgery done and then waits to ensure it was in fact all the tumor and not other issues as well he can contact her but he definitely shouldn’t before or he’s a huge AH.
Ya no a partner pushing you to have sex and then getting mad when you say no (good reason or not because any reason is a good reason) is an immediate break up in my opinion. I’m dealing with some medical complications with PCOS and a few others and it is painful to sleep with my partner and he literally will tell me no if he thinks I might be trying to force myself for his benefit. A partner who loves you would NEVER not ONCE get mad at you and try to pressure you to avoid your consent.

I got an MRI because I had lost hearing and one year after I was in a coma. I went into the coma hearing I came out of the coma not hearing and they still wanted to make sure that I hadn't lost my hearing because of a brain tumor. And there was 10 years between thebrain tumor searching MRI and the previous coma. I did not have a brain tumor but they should've definitely done that when he was in the ER the very first time!
I wouldn't even tell them with any expectation of any thing from them. I would just tell them just wanted you know it was a brain tumor you just wanted to let them know that and that's it.
He doesn't owe anybody any of his private health information. I feel like it would be some closure providing info for the ex and just kind of having that closure would be reassuring for me personally. But he's under no obligation to tell her.
It was a bit non specific, but it seems like the surgery was in the morning of the same day the sexy sleep was attempted to be initiated. Otherwise OP wouldnt be super concerned about rubbing her eyes (etc). The rubbing eye concern was for *after* the surgery.

Although it sounds contradictory. It's actually a positive feed back loop. Because the negative keeps increasing based on the actions and reactions. A negative feedback is self limiting. Like when the water rises in the toilet, it gets to a certain level annd that causes the bulb to rise, and that stops the water. That is an example of a negative feedback loop. A positive feedback loop is one where the building keeps potentiating the building. Like blood sugar where if your blood sugar is high, it makes you hungry, and so you eat more, which makes your blood sugar higher and so on until you fall into a coma. I'm allergic to bananas, latex, and radiation. It's not fun. Especially since I have to have transfusions. I get blisters everywhere, even in the top of my head
You get blisters from blood transfusions? Do they not use nitrile gloves and other non latex equipment? I can't think of a reason bananas, latex or radiation would cause a reaction for a blood product transfusion tbh, unless it's an equipment issue.
@@kristinfoilhat It's because they do transfusions in the same room as chemotherapy. There is cross contamination. They started giving me Benadryl before transfusions now so they aren't as bad as before but I still have to use special soap and shampoo

An MRI has zero radiation! It stands for magnetic resonance imaging. You're confusing it with a computertomography.

"Quick" TLDR to the last story (cause of the cut)
Bf drove to gf (LDR) for upcomming surgery and to stay during recovery. Hours before surgery he try to initiate "sleeping with her", but she was uncomfortabel with it (do to doctors adivces). They drove to the apointment, she had the surgery, when she came out (can't see everything + some medication) he was outside the building (work related call). He drove her home and tryed to initiate "sleeping w her" again and he was pissed that she didn't want it the second time he asked and sleped alone in bed, while she was comfortable on the couch. They didn't talk about it for a while, when she brought it up and told him how she felt vulnetable and had anxiety bc of it/at that time.
Well.... It changes a lot. He asked second time AFTER the surgery

Hi, I'm an MRI Technologist and would just like to point out that there is no radiation in MRIs. It's just magnets and radiofrequency waves 🤙
An MRI doesn't work with radiation, it's a massive magnet. How it exactly works I don't really remember, had to learn it in vet school a long time ago. CT scans do work with X-Rays though.

Idk if contrasting someone with and without a tumor (that have the same psychological symptoms) should be that the non tumor patient has the mental faculties to correct them selves. It seems like the dude with the tumor was able to observe his issue as objectively as anyone else's once he had a proper diagnosis. Surgery story is sad to me.. weve had to go almost 6 months without due to a medical issue and ive never once worried i couldnt trust my husband to stay faithful. At that was when we were only 23/24.
I think it is an AH move to contact the ex wife before the surgery. Not only is there no guarantee that the brain tumor is actually cause there is also no guarantee there isn’t permanent damage that won’t change. Plus the surgery will be very risky and OP might die. There is no reason to reopen the wound and get the wife’s hopes up with no guarantee things will even be like they were before. If he gets the surgery done and then waits to ensure it was in fact all the tumor and not other issues as well he can contact her but he definitely shouldn’t before or he’s a huge AH.
Ya no a partner pushing you to have sex and then getting mad when you say no (good reason or not because any reason is a good reason) is an immediate break up in my opinion. I’m dealing with some medical complications with PCOS and a few others and it is painful to sleep with my partner and he literally will tell me no if he thinks I might be trying to force myself for his benefit. A partner who loves you would NEVER not ONCE get mad at you and try to pressure you to avoid your consent.

I got an MRI because I had lost hearing and one year after I was in a coma. I went into the coma hearing I came out of the coma not hearing and they still wanted to make sure that I hadn't lost my hearing because of a brain tumor. And there was 10 years between thebrain tumor searching MRI and the previous coma. I did not have a brain tumor but they should've definitely done that when he was in the ER the very first time!
I wouldn't even tell them with any expectation of any thing from them. I would just tell them just wanted you know it was a brain tumor you just wanted to let them know that and that's it.
He doesn't owe anybody any of his private health information. I feel like it would be some closure providing info for the ex and just kind of having that closure would be reassuring for me personally. But he's under no obligation to tell her.

Although it sounds contradictory. It's actually a positive feed back loop. Because the negative keeps increasing based on the actions and reactions. A negative feedback is self limiting. Like when the water rises in the toilet, it gets to a certain level annd that causes the bulb to rise, and that stops the water. That is an example of a negative feedback loop. A positive feedback loop is one where the building keeps potentiating the building. Like blood sugar where if your blood sugar is high, it makes you hungry, and so you eat more, which makes your blood sugar higher and so on until you fall into a coma. Something has to act against or break for the positive feedback loop to stop. Inertia is a positive feedback loop. Yes. I totally over explained that. Have a nice day. 😂

You get blisters from blood transfusions? Do they not use nitrile gloves and other non latex equipment? I can't think of a reason bananas, latex or radiation would cause a reaction for a blood product transfusion tbh, unless it's an equipment issue.
@@kristinfoilhat It's because they do transfusions in the same room as chemotherapy. There is cross contamination. They started giving me Benadryl before transfusions now so they aren't as bad as before but I still have to use special soap and shampoo
