      @srose1088 not just lower sperms count but lower quality. There are some studies that show that the older the age of the man, there may be more chances of disabilities and medical conditions in the fetus.

      @@srose1088 I think not many people know it as much because there's a lot more talk nowadays about women having kids before their biological clocks are up, meanwhile men don't have to worry since they can "have kids whenever they want." So it's not seen as a huge concern if a man wants to wait to have kids vs a woman waiting for kids. At least that's my guess. Idk

    I had a friend similar to OPs in the first story. We were besties, we were 19. She was an addict & i tried to help her but you know the old adage "can't help those that don't want to be helped" Anyway, her mom kicked her out so she "moved in" with me (she basically threw her garbage bags full of clothes onto my floor & never stayed at my place). The Golden rule "no drugs in the house" After a time she finds out she's pregnant. I go with her to every appointment, help her out in any way i can. After a while she tells me she miscarried (Lie. She terminated & wanted sympathy points). I find her doing drugs in my place & kick her out.
    SEVEN YEARS LATER, i get this long winded message from her reminiscing about old times. I laugh at it. A mutual friend says "well i hear she's off the drugs maybe it's one of the steps" I tell him if there was an apology in there i would've 100% forgiven her for the sake of sobriety. But... there was no apology for the "making amends" step.
    No... in fact, she was pregnant again & remembered i was the only one who helped her during her last pregnancy & she expected me to just POOF magically forget all the assholery she did to me & for me to be there for her & the baby.
    Told her to fuck off. We weren't friends & would never be friends again. Last i heard she was flirting with MINORS to buy her coffee...
    Sorry, long rant. Haven't thought about that in a WHILE.

    Taking a bath while pregnant is something you need to be careful with. You need to make sure it’s not too hot, it’s preferable not to add anything (like bubbles), and baths longer than 10 to 15 minutes are not advisable….so with that story, OP could say they’re just trying to make sure baby is looked after, and if the mother to be is falling asleep in the tub, then she’s not being safe.

  • @zivilejakubauskaite8683

    When I found out I was pregnant I told my husband that he has to come up with our kid's name, because my father named me and I wanted my firstborn to be named by his dad. I know I am cruel in never asking my husband if he wanted to name our child, I just gave him a task. That's the person I am. So, once our son was born my husband said "I want to name him [Name]." And I said "Sure! That's a lovely name!" Then, once I told our parents child's name, my mom said "I don't like that name. And besides my sister's brother in law's daughter has a similar name. You should rethink it." To that I answered firmly "[husbands name] chose it, we are going with it. You have no say in it." My father also said to my mom that it's not her business how we name our child. We didn't fall out, we didn't go low contact. My mom is using the name. She doesn't say it's a bad name, she doesn't show that she's unhappy. She really accepted our child's name wholeheartedly and corrects other people when they mispronounce our child's name.

    For the bathroom story - she should not allow her sister-in-law to use her bathroom because she and the brother already have a bathroom. If they lived in a one bedroom apartment, they would have to deal with a single bathroom. Why should OP let a slob into a place that she cleans and takes care of? Sister-in-law is really entitled and is using the pregnancy as an excuse. Seems to me sister-in-law likes using OP’s bathroom because it’s nicer. I’m sure part of being nicer is that it’s clean. If sister-in-law wants a nice bathroom, she needs to clean and care for her own. Being pregnant does not give her a pass to take over other people’s space. I can say this because when I was pregnant I lived with my husband in a place with one bathroom and we made it work out fine.

    Samuel the issue with Harry naming his kid Albus Severus is bc Dumbledore raised him as a pig for slaughter to suit his own agenda, putting Harry and several hundreds if not THOUSANDS of students at risk. He orchestrated his own death that would make it seem like he was a casualty of the war when he was going to die regsrdless. Snape made Neville Longbottom's life Hell simply because of the day he was born. He bullied Harry his entire time at Hogwarts over an unrequited crush Snape had on Harry's mother (who admittedly was not a good friend for hooking up with Snape's bully). WHY would he name his son after these people when Rubeus Hagrid watched out for him since his birth, and Sirius Black gave what little he had left of his life to protect Harry even after spending 12 years falsely imprisoned in Azkaban and living life on the run after his escape. There was also Neville who was willing to exact vengeance for Harry when he thought Harry was dead and had no qualms about facing his fears to fight for Harry on numerous occasions. Hell he even had Arthur Weasley as a surrogate father as much as Molly Weasley was a surrogate mother. So many better options than those assholes.

    • @SammyLammy1D
      @SammyLammy1D 3 месяца назад +1

      Tbf, he did name his other son after Sirius (James Sirius Potter). Other than that I agree. Altough, I guess he wanted to name his kid after people no longer living. But then Remus was right there. I guess we can assume that Hagrid was also dead by the time Harry and Ginny's second son was born. Remus Rubeus Potter.

    • @NikkiDavis
      @NikkiDavis 3 месяца назад +3

      @@SammyLammy1D I just feel like from the outside, he had all these protectors and guardians who deserved more. Yes, his birth parents loved him very much, and it was no fault of their own that they weren't in Harry's life. But it still feels like everyone who actually raised him and helped him become the man he eventually was deserved more recognition. How does Albus.Dumbledore measure more than Sirius Black, and how does Severus Snape equate to Sirius?? So many stronger and more meaningful combinations than to essentially disrespect Sirius like that. Hagrid's name could've also fit for a girl (Ruby), so I'm surprised none of them went in that direction. I think Rowling was giving in too much to the movie fandom (i.e. the people who wanted Ron and Hermione together) than going with what actually made sense.

    • @NikkiDavis
      @NikkiDavis 3 месяца назад +1

      Btw to clarify, I mean like she was going for what would pull more of an emotional reaction in the movie versions, not that she was actually bullied into changing the ending of a book for a movie version that came out like 4? years later

    • @SammyLammy1D
      @SammyLammy1D 3 месяца назад +2

      @NikkiDavis the ron hermione thing is interesting. Because I always thought RonXHermione made sense in the books. The movies definitely messed up with both of their characters, but yeah. And then HarryXHermione started from the movies.
      As I said, James Sirius Potter is already a son, and I do like that name. Albus and Severus, on the other hand, are a problem.
      Now that I think about it, Lilly Luna is named after one still living person, so I guess my initial thoughts on the kids being named after dead people were wrong. Although I am pretty sure at least one of the other Weasly kids named their children after Arthur and Molly. Where I am from, cousins having the same name is not common, so maybe that's why?

    • @NikkiDavis
      @NikkiDavis 3 месяца назад +1

      @@SammyLammy1D I don't think Harry and Hermione would've been a good fit either. Personally book wise I didn't get Ginny and Harry, and that translated onscreen as well. In terms of relationships, I don't think Rowling fleshed them out enough to really make sense and just threw them all together instead of introducing new characters for them to be with (which wouldn't be impossible as she's released a TON of character information AFTER the fact) which would be on track with how friends who trauma bond react in real life.

    I had a friend who married a man much older (but less mature) than her and needless to say, it didn’t go well or last… Here’s one of the biggest issues with these types of relationships: the young woman doesn’t truly know what she wants yet and once married/committed with children, tends to feel as though she’s trapped and THEN wants to be single and mingle. Everyone (especially the children) suffers. I tried to talk my friend out of the marriage as well as trying to have children right away. Of course, she later stated that she “wasn’t meant to be a mother” after having another… But it didn’t end there. She cheated, neglected her kids, eventually got divorced, only to move in with and get pregnant by another man even older than the previous guy. She’s on marriage number 3, has 3 little girls, and is 33 years old, still trying to decide what she wants to be when she grows up. The most pathetic part is that she and her little family have moved back in with her parents as she also tends to go for pathological liars who pretend to have money but end up dead broke, not even capable of paying child support for the kids they already have (some of whom are nearly her age). We’re the same age, but my husband is not quite 5 years older than me which puts us at about the same maturity level. 😉 We got together a few months before she and Hubby 2 did (the first one with the huge age gap and father of her first two kids). My husband felt weird around the guy right away and expressed concern but she’s one of those people who has to have things her way, no matter the consequences or who gets hurt. After the cheating and leaving her children unattended (we were watching them frequently at the time) we put some distance between us and I only met Hubby 3 in person once but was not impressed, nor was I surprised to learn that he too was a deadbeat. And after stating that she wanted freedom and to do her own thing, of course, she ended up back with an older, recently divorced, broke guy, pregnant, pretty much back where she was before she tried to “escape” such a cage. I have embraced my role as wife and mother and do not see either as a hindrance to my happiness or pursuits as we do everything together as a trio. Our friendship of nearly 2 decades has fallen apart because of her selfishness and life choices which are simply too different from mine (it’s not that simple but the simplest answer to an already too long tale).

    They used to think that the father's "contribution" didn't matter much, or that age would affect it, thinking that since the male body produces sperm regardless of getting older, it must still be fine. But recently scientists have come to the conclusion that the older the father, just like with mothers, it ups the likelihood of fetal abnormalities and defects.

    In the first story, it's true the friend doesn't sound that good but I would put the blame mostly on the old man, if you that old you shouldn't go after girls in their early to mid 20s and if one makes a move on you, you should be mature enough to understand that's wrong.
    Now the friend may not know much about life cause she lived a very sheltered life with an abusive mother and then an abusive partner, it's definitely not OP responsibility but she could share with her what possible government founds she has right to and then defined distance herself

    1st story: that old dude love bombed her and she unfortunately fell for it due to past trauma from her mother. The friend needs more help than OP can give her and OP as much as she wants to be there for her friend, her friend will take advantage of her kindness because she clearly isn’t ready to help herself yet. So OP’s initial response of cutting her off was the right thing to do for her own peace of mind so OP is NTA

    Blocking someone's number is not as catastrophic as you all feel it is. If you live in this world, you can still find, get in contact with anyone. Blocking on social media, same. People got in contact with people before Blocking was a thing. All it takes is one person giving you the info. It ain't hard to find anyone today.

    They used to use metal tubs in the Victorian Era and before, but you wouldn't put the fire under the tub unless you want to cook them like a stew, you would heat up a large pot of water and repeat until the tub was full that is why most people opted for sponge baths or all using the same tub the Father would use it first, then everyone down to the baby same water, that is where the phrase "Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" which I think people use to say, "Don't be so hastie" "Don't throw out something good, when trying to get rid of something unwanted".

    27:27 I’m with Sam on this one. My younger sister is the WORST about sharing a bathroom! If I haven’t gone and done my skincare routine and brushed my teeth by 9 I won’t get to at all! She takes an hour to do her skincare routine and 30 minutes to brush her teeth. She always runs in right as I’m about to and by the time she’s done I’ve fallen asleep while waiting, so I end up doing my routine at 3 am.

    27:33 I used to fall asleep in the bath all the time. My poor Dad worried and was always afraid I might drowned in there but here I am alive. baths are freaking LOVELY! Especially when you’re pregnant. 15 minutes isn’t long enough at 15 minutes the bath has barely started.
    I would set boundaries on using the tub and the bathroom space. Tell her you expect her to pick up after herself.
    Ps Riley, John and Sam y’all should try a bath again real soon they are very relaxing. My husband for a long time told me that he couldn’t relax in a bath because he was a man and baths weren’t manly. So I forced him and after that he wanted to take a bath damn near every day after work. He works at a warehouse unloading semi-trucks so he’s constantly moving and lifting because his job is very physical.

    6:39 there is a thing that can happen when you’re pregnant where you have spotting and a lot of women who don’t know they’re pregnant until birth they say that they were bleeding so they thought they were having period but it was actually spotting and the spotting can actually look like a period I don’t remember what it’s called but I know it’s real thing😌

My bf trying to be funny was like “hey as long as it’s not a goofy name like Henry” there was a long pause and then some awkward laughing and that’s how we found out my nephew’s name would be Henry. He did apologize for it, but we’ll never let him live it down😂

    I had my "period" for the first 6mo of my first pregnancy with my son, didn't gain a lot of weight and the only indication now when i look back is that i was craving sweets and salty stuffs for months leading up to it. I was 17 and didn't know a lot tbh and didn't even think of it until baby's dads aunt said i was pregnant. I'm like nah I'm still having a period but i took the test anyways, and low and behold i was pregnant!!! so i went to the doc thinking i was a few weeks maybe a month-ish......... nope!!!! i was 1 week from being 6 months i was floored.......

    The age of the father actually impacts both the pregnancy, the likelihood of a miscarriage and birth defects.
    And it's also not as easy to conceive.
    Sure, (cis) men are _able_ to become fathers from the day they're born until the day they die - but that doesn't mean that they should! (Genetically that is, ethically is a whole other problem... 😬)

    My heart goes out to the young mother, she’s clearly suffering from her upbringing and has no idea what she’s doing. I’m not a doctor but I wonder if she’s got CPTSD (I suffer from it myself) and it takes years to unlearn all of the toxic brainwashing and recognize social norms and red flags in other people. The OP is not obligated to step in, the mother has to want to do better and no one can force her to do so. Hopefully she will want better for her child and be able to pull off the rose colored glasses to see her life through a healthy perspective

    One problem with the outdoor bathtub, is temperature control. They don't really recommend baths while pregnant but they can be safe if you keep the water temp below 100-102, I think it was. Now this might have changed since I had my child because the rules always change and all doctors are different. But back on 2020 I had to get a bath thermometer so I'd be able to take them safely.

    One thing you gotta remember is you only have one period a month so 2 months is only 2 missed periods which is super common. 100% regular is very rare the vast majority of woman have at least some variation. Then add in implantation bleeding which is practically indistinguishable it’s not that easy to tell
