  • Save as is a very artistic level, but not in the sense of decoration, block design, colors, backgrounds or anything else in that vain. This creation is artistic because of the way it makes you feel, the emotions it evokes and the sensations it provokes. Starting off as a normal-looking level, towards the 2:00 mark the level slowly starts to glitch, from the arrows pointing you towards the right direction, to the blocks and the dark edges that limit the whole thing. But we've seen levels with glitch effects, that shift around every component and detail, this is on a whole other level, it doesn't just spam the same effect over and over again, this entire creation starts degrading and you could even say "dying", changing from a "normal" typical level, to what we see towards the end, both in terms of the design and even the music, which has a very nice sync with what's going on on screen, from what I've read, this is meant to reflect and show the effects and progression of Alzheimer's, and in my opinion it was nailed to perfection. I think this is one of the best representations of this disease created in a videogame, not just because of the way it looks, but the sounds and the way the entire thing as a whole makes you feel, rolled up into one 5 minute experience.

Watching this video, I can somewhat actually feel the pain of the level as it tries to return to what it used to be, but in the end, it just becomes a shell of what it used to be. Alzheimer's is terrifying not because it depicts horrific images, but because it strips you of what gives you meaning, your memories.

As much as the level is quite disturbing and creepy, it really does show well what Alzheimers disease does and how it really affects people. Literally every part of this level perfectly reflects it, even the length of the level. PAHC did an amazing job - they made the level cohesive to its topic whilst throwing in amazing effects. Whether this should be rated or not is a different story as for the fact that extremely young children play this game, but this definitely deserves feature or even epic either way.
As for my opinion, the level, as simple as it is, makes you feel emotions, rather than looking at it and saying “that looks cool”, and that’s my favourite part of the level - it’s really the only level that has made me feel something just watching or playing the level. This level really shook me, and thats because it’s based off something that could affect anyone

  • @Corenebubae
    @Corenebubae 2 месяца назад +9

Idk how ive never seen something like this, so heres MY interpretation
0:00 - Stage 1 No visible symptoms. There are some glitches in the level, but lets be honest, we all forget sometimes.
0:32 - Stage 2 Slight forgetfulness and trouble with words here and there. Its the beginning of something awful and horrible, and yet the patient doesnt even know, no one knows. To them, they're like any other old person. The level reflects this; its enough to be noticable. However, it's mild enough to be passed off as slight deco or gameplay error (if ur dumb) and the creator is just bad.
1:19 - Stage 3 This is when the patient realises something is truly wrong. Memory begins to corrupt further and tangle. This point in the level, color begins to fade away, and the glitch effects only get worse, but block design is still slightly coherent.
It is important to note that the general mood is lower in this stage.
2:00 - Stage 4 Singular memories begin down and tangle with eachother, and the most coherent memories begin to rupture. Memories become fluid and mix with eachother, until it eventually becomes one "memory". The cognitive declinebis also noticable; it becomes difficult to write. In the level, singular blocks begin to misalign and breakdown, color completely fades away, and gameplay becomes less than pleasant. However, you still try to hold on.
2:54 - The patient desperately clings onto any memory, broken or not. When the finger slips, the patient enters stage 5, and awareness of the disease becomes absent.
3:08 - Stage 5 The ability to recall singular memories gives way to confusion and horror. It becomes difficult to even speak or do daily tasks. Wandering is common, and patients slowly lose grip on any cognitive function. The level becomes pure effect, lines become tangled and warped and block design completely fades away, giving to ruptured lines.
3:56 Stage 6 Confusions and Horror. Memories are ruptured beyond saving, and a fog sets in. Memories no longer become tangled or fluid, they completely fade away until they reach a vegitative state. Extremely violent ruptures can break away into calmer and clear moments. In the level, the fog is extremely visible, and begins to block the tangled gameplay. Gamplay is almost absent, and block design only becomes more and more warped.
    4:35 - Stage 7 is without description.

I think that this level overall is great and serves a great purpose. And since my grandmother has alzheimers, this level hits different. But!
The level keeps repeating the parts, and alzheimers makes you forget things suddenly which is the opposite of each other. It can also (to my knowledge, correct me if i'm wrong) make you remember things that has happened a long time ago. So something you maybe could've done different is make the current parts suddenly disapear like that one time in the level, and repeat the past parts. And also this level kinda gives the picture of alzheimers being like schizophrenia where life and everything becomes dark and more abstract the further the disease evolves, I guess you could say? Either way, it's a great level and I obviously have too much time on my hands.
Edit: Just saw the comment by NeoBlitz and I've realized I interpreted the level completely wrong. My bad🤣

I love scary levels, Peaceful was one of them, what made this level interesting is the fact that it slowly stops becoming a normal level and turning into a recent kind of level, not in a bad way, and I like the fact that this level portrays a person with Alzheimer's, I love these kind of levels, and I'll never stop loving them.

My grandma had Alzheimer and she died a few weeks ago. I can say that this level very accurately shows the disease, even the length of the level.
Shows how person can remember certain things, but then stars to forgot things, then forgets how to speak and slowly dies.

As you age you lose a lot of functions, hearing, eyesight, mobility, and sometimes even taste, and smell. But when you begin to lose the thing that controls all of them, that is the most horrific thing of all.
