  • How to Disable ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes) and VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) also known as Traction Control on the 2006 - 2011 Honda Civic. Note that in older Civics there is another method of disabling the ABS by removing the fuse #3 from the fuse box underneath the dash. However the under-dash fuse will also disable the ELECTRIC power steering on the vehicles that have it.
    PLEASE PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    Excellent video. The ABS crap almost caused my car to go over the lip of very steep, icy road due to lack of braking. The snows had traction to turn around and head uphill. No more ABS for me.

    Thanks for the vid. Almost rear ended someone today in the snow completely unnecessarily because of the ABS. Seems particularly bad on 8th gen civics...

      Yeah, I hate the ABS in my 08' Si. it is too heavy handed in it's function. I would disable it, but in a worse case scenario I don't want to be sued for everything I own, I'm too old to start over with my retirement plans.

      Once you’re in serious accidents, they’ll investigate the car and if they found out if you disabled the ABS system, you could get a big trouble both criminal and civil lawsuits. I would leave it alone and let the mechanic fix the issues.

      @@jayc4283 You could short the fuse on the battery using couple of wite or a screwdriver. A blown fuse is way less suspicious than a missing one.

    VSA is in the Si as well, thus being in a manual transmission vehicle. Not just automatic like you said.

      You would have to have a scan tool plugged in to determine exactly why it's on. It could be many different things.

    • @peteb4350
      @peteb4350 7 лет назад +8

      He tells you right at 0:20 "The reason you'd want to disable the ABS is [because] in slippery conditions, ABS will significantly INCREASE braking distance, in order to keep the vehicle control and steering ability. So by disabling the ABS system, you can have shorter braking distances in snow and other slippery conditions. However, if the wheels lock, you will lose steering ability." - try watching the video

    • @denispoirier19
      @denispoirier19  7 лет назад

      It should be similar. The fuse might be under the driver side dash. Look at my SRS light video to find the fuse box. Advance to 10:10
      ruclips.net/video/Yv0KNcoGE-E/видео.html
      A description of each fuse should either be on the inside of the cover or in the owner's manual.

    I had to do this after my 2007 crv was stuck in the sand and my tpms light Is on. vsa can't be disabled if tpms error is detected. vsa almost makes the awd system useless when needed the most kinda infuriating that honda does this. I understand the saftey aspect of it but they could of made it where it would only disable vsa for a set amount of time it's just ridiculous. Long story short I don't have vsa/abs anymore
