  • Hello everyone!
Today, i am showing you how to reset ABS light & VSA/Traction control light on the Acura TSX 2004. It should be the same for all Honda's / Acura's. It's also possible that you or the mechanic attempted to start the car without connecting all the steering or stability control sensors therefore, leaving the car to think that there's always a problem.
********DO NOT SKIP ANY STEPS , IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOUR ABS IS WORKING OR NOT, DONT SKIP******************

Oh my God, this actually worked on my 2007 Honda Pilot! Unbelievable! Thank you so much! The light came on after replacing the battery. My mechanic couldn't turn off the VSA light with a good OBDii scanner and the dealer wanted $135 to do a diagnostic. I only had the VSA and triangle lights on, no ABS light, but I still followed every step of the instructions including the ABS part as someone in the comments said to do. I didnt have an ethernet cable to waste, so I used a twisty tie from trash bags and scraped off the paper cover from both ends of it, revealing the metal wire, but kept some cover in the middle for protection to avoid an accidental short. I put the ends in pins 4 and 9 and it worked exactly like in the video! Amazing. You really helped me. Thanks again.

You are awesome. I have a '05 TL that the VSA warning is on. There are endless posts out there that are not complete (and inaccurate) re: how to fix this. Your post is perfect. Very clear. Like others, I tried to rest the VSA without resting the ABS first. Anyone watching this- FOLLOW THE STEPS EXACTLY- start to finish. Works perfectly. Thank you again.

2009 Acura RL. Big thank you for this video tutorial. My Acura dealer wanted me to pay $175 for diagnostic, they are the one who may have created the VSA check error when they changed my battery and head lights. This VSA check error has been bothering me since 2015 (last 3 years). Video instructions were very easy to follow.

Thanks it works. Also for accord 2010 owner it works also. What I’ve learn from the process for some which the method does not work is to make sure you have a good ground when you are doing the VSA reset. The VSA part wasn’t resetting for me and it was because of a bad ground. When I finally get a good ground wala it reset.👍

Great post! Appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I was able to clear VSA light on my 2008 Acura TSX. The light came on after returning from a shop that ran a diagnostic which triggered the warning light. Had to follow both parts of procedure, ABS reset, followed by VSA reset. I have a 08 Honda Odyssey and had drivers side wheel bearing installed. They broke the ABS sensor when removing the hub and replaced that. When I picked up the car (after hours) I noticed ONLY the yellow /!\ light on. Tried to disconnect and drain the battery etc...no success. Read another thread where someone had this same problem they said because I only have that light on to just do the VSA step in your video (second step) where you shorted the 9 pin and push the VSA button in the sequence you say. WORKED!!!! Saves me a trip back to the shop where they would be trying to figure out what was wrong. Much thanks for taking the time to post this with a detailed explanation.

Thanks for the video! Best practice to never short anything to anything in this type of scenario. The ECU logic needs to be tied to ground, you can achieve this through a 1K-10k ohm resistor (could go even higher but it depends on internal circuitry), this will still produce a logic "low" but if you happen to chose the wrong pin it will not blow a fuse or worse fry something. It's best to try with a resistor first, if you cannot figure it out with the resistor, keep lowering the value, and worse case then do no resistor/dead short. you have nothing to lose but a little time.

Thank you for this video - fixed my 2005 Acura TSX in a few minutes doing what you showed. I wrote your steps down to make it easier for me while to follow while I was in the car:
Jump pin 4 and pin 9 together. on the long side its 4, on the short it's the first on the bottom pin 9
    Insert key
    Hold brake pedal
    Turn ignition on
Wait for ABS light to go out and then remove foot from brake pedal
Put your foot back on the pedal when the ABS light comes back on
After you remove your foot the ABS light should blink 2 times
    For the VSA -
Connect pin 9 to a ground on the car’s body
Don’t put your foot on the brake
Push the VSA button when the ABS light comes on
Push it again when the light comes on and the triangle warning should blink and go out

This worked on my 2007 Honda Pilot after a couple attempts. I used my scanner to clear codes for the ABS then tried the manual reset to clear the VSA light. That failed, so I did the manual reset for the ABS, and then the manual reset for the VSA light... that cleared the /!\ light. Only thing that I can figure is that my scanner did not clear all the SBS codes. NOTE: In the second step in the video, he jumpers pin 9 to a chassis ground at the brake pedal. Pin 4 is CHASSIS GROUND. So you can just keep pins 4 & 9 jumpered on the ODB connector from the previous step.

Yeah. I didn't have to do the second step at all.

Great video! I discovered on a "TL' in particular a 05 I have the first step with the ABS is the same process but to do the "VSA" you need to do one extra step.
    1. You turn the key ABS light comes on push the VSA button
    2. The ABS light off goes off, push the VSA light
    3. ABS light comes back on, push the VSA button. The VSA triangle flashes twice system reset!
    Again thanks for the post!

Worked like a charm. I got confused in the second part. I forgot to wait for ABS to go "OFF" for the first press.
Also it's true about the 2nd part. Pin 4 is ground so you can leave the jumper pin for the entire procedure.

    • @MTLJack

But either you use Pin 4 or ground is the same thing :)

    Hi All,
I want to confirm that this information will work for 2007 Honda Odyssey. Please follow every step as mentioned in this video to properly get rid of that /!\ VSA light. Please note you can just leave pin 4 and pin 9 jumped/connected together instead of clipping 9 to the ground. Thank you @MTLJack. This video has been liked.

If resetting your VSA does not work, it means you have a ABS or VSA problem that persists , check whats wrong with your ABS.
Short the OBD2 Connector , Pin 5 & Pin 9 then watch the ABS light blink. Long blink = 10 , Short Blinks = 1. For example, If you have 2 long blinks its 20 following up by 5 short blinks, you have a abs code of 25.
    Here's the list :
11 - wheel sensor (open/short to body ground/short to power) FR
13 - wheel sensor (open/short to body ground/short to power) FL
15 - wheel sensor (open/short to body ground/short to power) RR
17 - wheel sensor (open/short to body ground/short to power) RL
12 - wheel sensor (electrical noise/intermittent interruption) FR
14 - wheel sensor (electrical noise/intermittent interruption) FL
16 - wheel sensor (electrical noise/intermittent interruption) RR
18 - wheel sensor (electrical noise/intermittent interruption) RL
    21 - pulser FR
    22 - pulser FL
    23 - pulser RR
    24 - pulser RL
31 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FR-IN
32 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FR-OUT
33 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FL-IN
34 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) FL-OUT
35 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RR-IN
36 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RR-OUT
37 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RL-IN
38 - solenoid (short to body ground/short to wire) RL-OUT
    41 - wheel lock FR
    42 - wheel lock FL
    43 - wheel lock RR
    44 - wheel lock RL
    51 - motor lock
    52 - motor stuck OFF
    53 - motor stuck ON
    54 - fail-safe relay
    61 - ignition voltage
    62 - ignition voltage
    71 - different diameter tire
81 - central processing unti (CPU)

This is awesome solution to reset VSA.
worked out well on my 2011 Acura MDX.
got rid off my nagging VSA warning light that my mechanic couldn't get rid off with with his $$$$ code reader.
it even erased my ABS code that my Bluedriver code reader that couldn't clear after pulling the code as it was associated with the VSA.
Followed the instructions and it worked like a charm.
I didn't have to take the pin 4 after ABS like the other comments and it worked.
Thx a lot man. U just saved me a lot of $$$
    for not going to stealership.👍👍👍👍
Just to be on the safe side for precaution.
connect pin 4(ground)1st to get any static discharge out of your finger then pin 9.
or just in case you accidentally connect to wrong pin.
I wore rubber glove to make sure I didn't have any static discharge on my finger. MAKE SURE u only short PIN 4 and PIN 9 or you will blow something U DONT WANT. 😀😀
