What have you done Nintendo? I know that there are cloud saves, but Splatoon 2 doesn't get any?! That is literally the only game I play on my switch!
They didn't do cloud saves because they're afraid you'll exploit it and cheat. They could work around this in an update but NO PROMISES
personally, I have already had a switch stolen after being 50+ hours into splatoon 2 and 400+ in Zelda (just to name a few.) I have already worked my way back up since then, but this would have been nice for that time. and yeah all games should be able to have a backup save on cloud. it just feels like a lazy way of stopping cheaters.

Fun fact they don't Stop Cheater with this. Because hacker can Hack their switch and Cheat because all files are in the System!
If they really want to Stop cheater they have to make servers like LoL or fortnite where the online account and files are saved. Therefor we would have Cloudsave and hackers could not hack
$20 is beyond low, most memberships run $5-15 a month, so $20 a YEAR, thats CHEAP

@@shakeba15 Sorry I'm from California with no parents, my mother passed away in 2010 and my father was never around and I was better off like that. To me, you sound like a spoiled child who doesn't know how to make a dollar, for example, go to your local parks and pick up cans and bottles and recycle them, go around to your local hot spots for kids and do the same, within a week or two, you will have collected enough to buy a $20 card, and helped recycled. There are dozens upon dozens of ways for you kids today to make money but most of you kids rely on your parents or grand parents for money. I'm 33 years old with three jobs, I have four kids of my own, and none of them ask for money, because they earn it like I did. And they feel good about it because they bought what they wanted with money they worked for.
You get Splatoon 2 gear, but not the ability for cloud saves?

Honestly, what really frustrates me is the constant influx of people saying that “it’s a small price to pay so just deal with it”. While, yes, the price for online is much smaller than others, the other competitors provide much more. The fact that we don’t have at the very least text messaging on the console itself is ridiculous, especially when the Wii U had that, and also video and voice chat.
I respect your opinion to a certain degree. I hope that makes you happy enough to sit the f@ck down.
Honestly though, that argument that the competitors offer more isn't really a good one, since Steam offers all of that for free.

However, if Nintendo gives us online we already had for free, cloud saves that don’t even work for some of the most important games, no good msg/voice chat system, then how do you expect me to spend ANY money on it?

We knew since the beginning that the Switch's online wasn't always going to be free though. Nintendo talked about this before.
The service is missing things that XBL and PSN offer, but I feel like if Nintendo added all of those benefits, then the price would be equal too.
Cloud saves however, need a definite fix.
Shame the game share doesn’t work like on Xbox and PS4...also yes the price for online is cheap but the only thing we get that we haven’t had since release is the nes games! So charging us for online doesn’t make sense, they should of done like in the past and just make us buy the old games if we want them and keep online free.

Jack 647 I’m not sure where you live in the world, but here in America you can buy a prepaid card, load it with cash and use it as a credit card. Hopefully that helps.

Man, if they got their act together and did the same for SNES, N64, and GameCube... I would be one very happy boy.
they will do it eventually. they have already stated snes is on the way, and they have done testing for GCN in china, as well as wii features being found in other programs. its all going to happen, but if they did it all at once, they wouldn't make anything but initial revenue. to make a console last, you have to spread its reveals out.

Brilliant video Zach(SF). Really good Tour Zach the 6.0 update has been pretty cool, i am still not sure the Paid Online Service is 100% worth it even for 20 bucks but you can use your coins on top aswell tho guys which is very cool.

Grabbed mine this morning and was happy to see that the gold points could be redeemed to lower the cost.
People making it a big deal how we had it free and now we got to pay. But even playstation did this switching from ps3 to ps4 i believe. The online for $20 is okay, but would still like more of course. hope theres more to come
I'll give it a chance "once" but I need some signs of the service getting better throughout the year. NES is not really my thing but I know it has them offered regularly.
People are making a big deal about it not so much because it cost money now but that the connection is still p2p, if it had dedicated servers then no one would complain because 20 bucks for that would be amazing

I haven’t checked yet but I believe the “update” is to attack 3rd party peripherals (8-bit do’s superior controllers, etc).
Since I’ve disabled my Switch’s wi-fi and will be hacking the MicroSD card to support local backups, I won’t be updating to confirm this.

You may have realized this already , but the controllers are available for pre-purchase for December , I would recommend getting them now for anyone who wants them, since they are limited.
I believe that if you have family plan each Nintendo Account which has acces to the plan is elegible for one 2-pack of controllers, so yo can have multiple NES controllers for multiple switches in your family.

The NES thing being an app does give me hope that they'll add future consoles eventually. Maybe not for a while, it may only be 1 a year, but as long as they don't take longer than that, I'll be pretty happy...eventually

My one problem with the whole NES offer is that what if I already purchased the Classic edition? Did I just waste $30 on an item that becomes obsolete literally a couple months later

It says you can get a pack of NES controllers for every Nintendo account, so with a family plan you could get 8 packs
You can even pay with coins that you get from buying games you would have bought anyway
Honestly Nintendo should just make a Splatoon dedicated server to storing player profiles, then Nintendo would be the only one to access the player data.
I plan to get it only for the access to NES and SNES games and the ability to buy those controllers

3:30 problaby Celeste Save Data Backup was fast because of it small scale, maybe when Metroid Prime 4 release and suport this feature, it gonna take longer to do a Save Data Backup in this game.
I think yoh misunderstood the purchase of the NES controllers. It says one person per account on a single or family membership.
Key there is per account. You can buy one for each account on the family plan still yes. It was worded a little weird, but each account on a family plan can buy a pair of NES controllers

I feel it's a bit underwhelming with its perks at the moment but it's price is reasonable, I'm excited to see what will be added!

What does back up save data do? Does it free space for more games? Do you need to download the back up data to continue playing the game? What's a cloud?
I am fine with the service for now. I think over time it will get better and eventually it will be closer to what the other companies offer.
everyone needs to chill out. they’ve stated previously that SNES is on the way (wasn’t in a direct, just stated) apparently they’re even testing Gamecube in china/japan (i don’t remember what). to make a console last you need to spread your releases.
To be honest I and I hope everyone agrees, we need a fusion of all the online services we had on previous Nintendo consoles. The voice chats from the DS, the Themes and APPS from the 3ds, and the Virtual console from the wii u. If we get all of those things jam packed into the switch I think everyone can be happy. I really need some themes though.

I hear good things about Hollow Knight. I'm a fan of Super Metroid versus no map and similar enemy&level design everywhere like original Metroid NES.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with how Nintendo is handling their service (except for the NES Joy-Con purchase limitations and the chat service). The home Switch/non-home Switch system seems to be the same as XBOX, which doesn't bother me that much for now. Also, cloud-syncing save data is a service provided by the company, so whether or not it should be paid for is entirely up to said company. Additionally, I tried the NES app and played Super Mario Brothers and Legend of Zelda, and I am loving every second of it... not to mention that the new checkpoint feature is just wonderful! All in all, I'm looking forward to what's next for Switch Online!
That's weird. When I check the splatoon 2 gear for family memberships it says "If you purchase a Family Membership, you'll receive one code for each Nintendo Account registered under the Family Group, up to a total of eight codes." So I currently have just me and my friend so that would mean only 2 codes would be given to me, right?

OK I have maybe a really stupid question, but with how vague Nintendo have been with this I need to ask. I understand you have to check in online at least once every 7 days in order to keep Nes games and play them offline. However, if I don't check in after for example 10 days and then recheck in online will the nes games come back or will I have lost them for my entire subscription?
Im thinking of getting together with several friends and getting the family pass and sharing the cost, otherwise it's just not worth it for me as I hardly play online and when I do it's on the xbox on which I am already paying for an online service.

I'm glad that you can renew the service automatically and that your saves will still be saved on your Switch, so you won't lose them if you don't have the service for a bit. Or so it all seems. Still disappointed in a lot, though >.
