Wow this is a treasure. John Prine still putting on a great concert just before his untimely passing. I still miss this man but he taught us a lot through his stories and absolutely fantastic music. I love JP and his love and kindness towards ordinary people.
@@tomharvey6961 tom when u get a chance give Willies lp Band of Brothers a listen . i think he wrote more than lately on that one . Hes a good one too . Walk on buddy !
I miss John. I've seen countless shows through my 67 years. Loved the way he just pulled songs out of his back pocket and let them roll. RIP old friend...
I will miss this man with his ability to tell everyday songs about everyday people. I make sure to listen to him almost every day. I find something that applies to my life in almost every song. He's still here...just not physically. And I am hoping he got that cigarette nine miles long!!
I’m a huge drive by truckers fan, also a huge Isbell fan. At the beginning of the pandemic, isabell said his favorite written album was John Prine. I would wake up at 4am (my normal wake up time) for work and walk and listen to that album day after day. I didn’t know this brilliance existed. Now I’ll never forget. Miss you John.
I miss John every single day since he's been gone. The good thing is that there treasures (as everyone here has said) like this out there. I had the pure pleasure of meeting him a few times either before or after 1 of his shows. He truly was 1 of a kind. His music was my kids lullabies. This was 45 yrs ago. Now, I play them for my grandbabies. I will NEVER get tired of Mr Prine ..the man that has walked in everyone's shoes. He is a LEGEND. ❤
Thanks for posting! John Prine was a prince among men and a brilliant singer, songwriter and raconteur. This video is a genuine treasure. Greetings from Texas to our friends in Sweden!
Discovered this SWED-UK at noon today. John Prine gave to me total calmness, peace and true joy. I have not had all those feelings together inside and out in many moons. I will forever keep this day close to my heart. 'Humbly grateful' today and always, LOVE YOU JOHN PRINE, THANK-YOU for all!!! KTF always, Patti Bown Utah
My mid-70s roommate turned me onto John Prine's music. Since then, I've beeen lucky enough to catch John 10 or 12 times in concert. One of the best such memories was Sunday night, June 19th of 1988 at the Somerville Theatre, just outside of Boston. I tried to get our gang of 6 or 8 people to join me for a nightcap at Johnny D's Uptown Lounge, a great little club directly across the street. No takers, so I went alone. I was a happy clam upon saving the $3 cover charge just by showing my ticket stub to the John Prine concert. Alright ~ that's a free beer! I was sitting at the corner of the bar when John sauntered in just a few minutes later. Saw him shake his head "No" to the bouncer, then dig in his front pocket and pay the $3 cover charge. He apparently didn't have a ticket stub to his own concert...lol. The bouncer obviously didn't know him. Next thing I know, John Prine is sitting next to me at the bar. Then, John Gorka, who had opened, came in and sat on other side of John Prine. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! What a memorable night. Thanks for posting this special concert.
Love this John prime music he is a wonderful man and beautiful music it's a Dame shame that he has passed away thanks for your time to us to hear from you
Thank you for this recording. I had tickets for his next show in Netherland but he went home from Sweden and than he died. He was a great artist and its a pitty that he,s gone. For the second time thank you for this recording.
I first saw John Prine in early 1970s (74 maybe) at an outdoor concert about 100 miles from Washington DC. In the sticks as they'd say around there. Not a huge crowd, but a very appreciative one, we were all there mostly for John Prine the headline act. Before he went on, he came and sat in the grass with my friends, we chatted, smoked a bit, shared some wine. The coolest experience of my life up to that point. He was so funny and so very nice. After that, I traveled every other year or so to see John Prine play, Big indoor venues and smaller college venues. Everyone there avid fans of the great John Prine. Last concert I saw him was in 2013.. HIs voice now had a gruffness, after his recovery from cancer, but he was the same John Prine. Sang the old ones and his new songs and went on for couple hours. He died two months after this concert and God I miss him like a brother. An American musical storyteller without peer. This video is a gem.
Great story! He was a gentle soul that is missed by all. I saw him first at a Kent State Folk Festival in 1997. He was touring the “In Spite of Ourselves “ album. Went on to see him at least a half dozen times since! He is an American treasure that should be honored in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! An artist that is in my top 10
An Amazing Songwriter and Story Teller and was definitely Smokin' whenever he performed especially in the 90's even after he beat the Cancer , I agree with all of the stones being said here and believe in all who Loved him!!. Only thing I find inaccurate is the comment stating that he was a man with no peer/ His true friend and Peer unfortunately had died many years ago/a lifetime ago in fact So to honor John I would like to do as he always did an give a shout out to Steve Goodman!! a man his buddy and his peer , and he always made sure an audience would remember him and the giant Footprint the little jew from Chicago had implanted in this Life. Lol , That's what John Prine called His buddy. Not my thought at all. R.I.P. to them both!! They belong and perform in Heaven Now. At least we all have something to look forward to when we die now , Always knew it would pY to believe!!. Lmao....
@@andywilliams1578 I was being a bit hyperbolic when I said Prine had no peer. As you pointed out, Steve Goodman certainly stands out as a peer of Prine's. I agree with you; and, Goodman and Prine are now performing in heaven. What a nice thought about hearing them again.
@ziggymarlowe5654 Thanks for taking the time to read the opiniated book that I wrote on your comment LOL. Was not meant to be critical in any way. In fact I should've simply agreed and added a story of my own!! My apologies for that. I too feel a huge Loss (even today) that John isn't within driving distance to see him live. Been listening to his music and Goodman 's since I... can't even remember when back in the 80's for sure. Can never seem to get enough of what is in the Songs that he gifted to us all. Have a very cool picture of him and Billy Bob Thornton that I'm gonna share when I find it . I had tickets to see this folk icon Aug 2019. It was an outdoor venue and the day of the show was beautiful but there had been a week of rain leading up to it, so they had to cancel the festival due to mud. When COVID hit, I knew he was in trouble given his age and cancer history. What a devastating loss. I so wish I could have seen him live.
I’ve listened to John Prine constantly since I learned that he died. Never had bothered to check out his music before I found out he passed. Yes he was thank you for remembering the one Swedish guy who im truly proud of. I strongly recommend the movie about Joe Hill and his life as a agitator and Union man and anarcho syndicalist. He was framed for a murder he didnt commit and executed . His last words was dont mourn organise!! Same as Sacco and Vanzetti.
I use to go to summer-concerts at the Joe Hill-gården in Gavle, Joe´s birth house i old Gavle. Got a beutiful small garden when they regulary put on music events.
Is that Jason Wilbur on guitar and harmonica ?I always thought Jason was part of the reason for John's being embraced by the new generations.John is great. The audience is appreciative and very respectful.Damn! That steel pedal is wow!
Looks like he's using a Martin D-28? Anyone who knows the exact model? He's maybe on his last tour, but he just continued it up in Heaven. Wonderful consert!
what we should remember is that we will all die too soon. It's a mark of a well lived life. My good friend Steve Goodman went away when he was 36 almost 40 years ago I didnt think anyone could replace him. But longtemps follows Brighteyes and P. Phillips and times will out a voice. even Miley Cyrus might surprise us when we need her to really matter
Thank you posting. Who is the young man who sings the second verse of Paradise? He looks like a relative of the Everly Brothers. (They also recorded that song many years ago.)
John talking about his old buddy Philip Donnolly is soo sad, John passed only a few months after Phil. Personally, I don't think John should have been pushed into this last tour, and I think he was...... after all they said they "pushed" him to do a new album, which was actually brilliant.... But...... 😢😢😢😢😢
For the record, Mr. Prine was relatively healthy when he did this tour. But look at the date this was shot. Covid was starting its ugly March through Europe and making its way around the world at this exact time. But the time Mr. Prine made it back to the states, Covid was here. He and his wife both got sick almost immediately upon returning home. Both were hospitalized. She recovered slowly. He did not. Super sad times.
Incredible show! Thanks for posting. This is a keeper!

September Memphis was His Last Gig...BUt Thank You Very Much For This Very Well Shot, and Good Audio Show.Much Obliged.

The pedal steel sounds fantastic...
We will always have the music God rest his soul
So cool love John prime
Is that Jason Wilbur on guitar and harmonica ?I always thought Jason was part of the reason for John's being embraced by the new generations.John is great. The audience is appreciative and very respectful.Damn! That steel pedal is wow!
😅God bless you! Hope to see again someday in Heaven.
Hey buddy I have been a fan m😢life
2 months before he passed
John Prine in concert
I thought "drawl" was a word but maybe you ?? whatever = AWESOME to listen to!
The AWESOME John Prine 😎
Love John Prine ❤😊
Looks like he's using a Martin D-28? Anyone who knows the exact model? He's maybe on his last tour, but he just continued it up in Heaven. Wonderful consert!
John had his own custom model. Google it
what we should remember is that we will all die too soon.
I miss John Prine!
Like I s😢he is a special person
I miss you, John.
What wouldn’t I give for their backdrop? I assume it is the tree of forgiveness
Yes.
❤ from FRANCE !
Had the privilege to see the man that last time 6 months before he ascended to that 9 mile cigarette 🚬😢
This is almost John’s tribute to himself! This is only a short time before he passed. I miss and loved John Prine!
1:52:55
Yes it is him
Thank you posting.
Who is the young man who sings the second verse of Paradise? He looks like a relative of the Everly Brothers. (They also recorded that song many years ago.)
I was friends with John in New Orleans.
Wow
❤
♥
Are you seeing this
You seen that right
This is real am I sold man yes I am we are all old men
Hey we are all nice
I know what his favourite song is
Old school
Unfortunately John contracted the virus while in Sweden.
He is going back in general me I understand
John talking about his old buddy Philip Donnolly is soo sad, John passed only a few months after Phil.
Personally, I don't think John should have been pushed into this last tour, and I think he was...... after all they said they "pushed" him to do a new album, which was actually brilliant.... But...... 😢😢😢😢😢
Another blues player gone on home… we couldn’t hold him any another day
For the record, Mr.
His last or near last show I think!?!
Sorry though he already did that now it’s my problem
Is that a thing
Sorry though he already did that
But good promotion
