Much the same here. He’s been a big part of the soundtrack of my life for decades…
I first heard Sugar Mountain in a little hole in the wall bar on Guadalupe Street in Austin when I was probably 15 or 16 years old. Too young legally to be there but I slipped under the radar somehow since I didn’t try to buy anything myself…
It was most likely an excellent cover of the song but I set out on a mission to track it down. Quite an endeavor since it was before technology was invented….

Ben was his boy. Loved him more than himself. Heart of Gold man is Neil. Unlike just about every other famous person we know about, the more you get to know about Neil Young, the more you can feel good about loving his craft and what kind of person he is.
That is extremely rare. He's a magical throwback to honest to God goodness.

I lost my cousin to the needle and the damage done. We were all old hippies. He was, too. Kept it hidden. We're smart about drugs. All life long Dead Heads. Tore the family apart. Did my cousins mom's eulogy 2 years later. My godmother. Her husband died a year later tragically. Took me over a year to be able to listen to The Needle and the Damage Done again.
Think I first saw him in 78 single with his guitar.
He's a Song in the Key of Life brother. Can't fake being that true

To have a Neil Young caliber writer/musician within my lifetime I consider myself blessed. But we didn't only get him. Carol King, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen come to mind. Very true and at the same time the fact that everybody thinks it was merely shows the power of Stephen stills art. It became an anthem because it struck a chord that everybody was feeling. Another example of that is Suite Judy Blue Eyes was written to woo Judy Collins back after she left him to screw around with a cute actor she had just met in New York named Stacy Keach but that doesn't diminish its power as *another* anthem for a chunk of the 60s. Great art works that way and Stephen stills I think is one of the most unsung artists of that generation.

This isn’t a real concert! It’s a tv show, trying to recreate the magic of performances from the early seventies. When I saw Neil live around 1982 it was in a huge stadium, all sold out. It was one of the worst and last rock concerts I ever attended in a venue like that. Solo Neil Young. Absolutely horrible music...synthesizer with flashing sunglasses singing about mashed potatoes, trying to keep up with the new musical tastes. This retro “best of” concert is really what Neil will be remembered for and the excellent Rust Never Sleeps concerts, which were something original.

I jammed my self alot harder songs, especially Rust Never Sleeps. He had a way of touching me inside because I wanted to be different from the kid my parents made me be. It brought tears to my eyes, knowing it seems like some country boy wants to break out and be different , tough, wild ,and caring. He was and always be awesome.

On first name basis with some of the biggest acts in Jam. And I've never been more nervous meeting anyone than Neil.

So many of us relied on Neil's ballads to survive in the sixties. We were all in pain together, and he could express it through his music in a way no one else could. With all of the storm clouds growing I have again begun to regularly listen to his songs. As I watch the troubadors of my life pass on Jerry Garcia, Jimmy Buffet. John Lenon, I am struck by the thought that soon their will be no one left. Then it will be time for me to fly away. 💔🐎🌹🎤🎹🌴☮️

Born in 1970. I was raised on Neil Young (amongst other greats) by a crazy hippie aunt. And his music has saved my life (sanity?) until the present day. And by the time my son was only 3 or 4 years old he would attach himself to my leg and sing Old Man to me (and he eventually knew most of the lyrics perfectly). And if I played Rocking in the Free World he would go into some kind of crazy beautiful spastic dance. Intergenerational music.
Having seen him live a number of times, he never disappoints, so any live recording will be the same.

For me, Neil Young is the best entertainer and composer who has been transforming reality into poetry for decades. His music is able to make me happy and free me from bad feelings. He is authentic and has the formula that touches people with his music and makes the H2O atoms in the body vibrate.
In 1976, our father left us when we were 9, 11 and 13 years old. Cancer. Our mother had to work nights to give us a “nice” childhood. When we were alone at home, we often listened to music like Neil Young's "Harvest Moon." Songs like “Heart of Gold” gave us hope and confidence.
Today, 50 years later, people have definitely lost their way - climate change, Ukraine etc. 4 days ago I heard Neil Young's live concert in Chicago, 1992 | for the first time PBS Center Stage on RUclips by "depleis" where he plays "Like a Hurricane" on the harmonium. We had no money for musical instruments, but we did have an old harmonium from our grandmother that we played a lot as children.
This new video touches me very much because I define “Like a Hurricane” as one of the most beautiful songs and pieces of music in cultural history. When I'm feeling well, I listen to and watch Bryan Ferry's "Nuits de Fourviere Live in Lyon - Like a Hurricane HD" by "dp" on RUclips - absolutely great, radiates happiness and makes you happy. When I'm sad or angry about what humans are doing to our planet, I listen to and watch "Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Like A Hurricane - Live 1986" by "billyidol68" on RUclips. It helps me extremely well to detach myself from these thoughts.
The energy of this person makes me completely unhinged with the video from Chicago 1992. Thank you, Neil Young. With your music you are one of the greatest gifts in my life.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Neil about 24 times over the years. Buffalo NY was always a stop on a Neil Young tour thru the 80's,90's and into the new century.Saw him with the Blue Notes,International Harvesters, many Crazy Horse shows and all by himself, solo with guitars, harmonica, and organ.Saw the CSNY reunion at Live Aid in Philly 1985. Neil was always one of the highlights of the concert year. I'll agree this is absolutely one of his finer gigs in both song selection and sound quality. The body may not live on forever, but his music shall. He's the "band" I would choose if I was stranded on a desert isle and had to choose one artist to listen to forever.Quite a variety over his illustrious career, just about all of it great. Music for all moods. Long live Neil Young!

I saw Neil Young at the Berkeley Community Theater in the early 70’s. He had just released After the Gold Rush. Fifth row aisle seats. First set sitting, harmonica and his guitar with an occasional move to the piano. Came back after a break solo with his guitar which he started banging harder and harder until the curtain rose behind him and there’s what I think was Crazy Horse and they hit it hard. After several songs another curtain rises and there appear about fifteen orchestral musicians joining in. All his music. An overwhelming experience that’s never left me.

How gifted he was and hopefully is still. Your music will remain forever in our hearts Neil. You were truly amazing in the 70's and with Crosby Stills Nash and Young. This takes me straight back to those happy times when life was better without the Internet and simpler.❤
