This strap is hands down the most underrated strap out there. So comfortable.

Erika's originals are 80 euros nowadays it's an insane price for a nylon strap

The Erika's Original is my favourite. I have 3 of them for my Tudor Pelagos. You can adjust these strap to fit your wrist a lot better than the regular NATO straps since they have holes. Also you can make any NATO strap into a single pass by cutting the second strap. It's what I did to all my Blue Shark NATO straps.

Had a Haveston mounted on my speedmaster moon watch which looked and felt fantastic. Problem is when I got it wet and flexed my wrist, to my horror, it came unbuckled! I was shocked, but glad I immediately noticed. I thought maybe it was a fluke and flexed my wrist again and same thing. Came right undone at the buckle. Needless to say, I don’t nor will I ever trust them on my high dollar pieces again. Sad because I really liked them....

Haveston and Erika's Orginal MN are two of my favorite straps also. I've owned a few of each. I don't know why most other brands feel a need to add that extra piece to run through? Nato's and Zuls style straps are already redundant by nature for securing the watch head to your wrist. Really don't need that extra piece.
The Haveston, at least their latest A2 version that has the single pass is pretty much a zulu style strap. I think the main thing the distinguishes it is the build and material, it's extraordinarily good. They have very cool and unique colors. And, most importantly, the last or 2nd keeper after the buckle floats and can adjust to any loose end length, short or long, which is the most important keeper to tie up and keep the loose ends neat and... unloose, but tight.
Erika's Originals has great customizing options. I like that they have the right genuine bronze allow material that matches my bronze watches.. well, when I still had them. The lume stripe is a bit gimmicky. It does work, and it does last actually.. in dark enough situation and your eyes adjusted, you will notice the lume stripe is actually still glowing, if not extremely weak glow. Still, it doesn't cost anything extra to have it if you want so why not? If you wanted a white stripe, you might as well get the lumed stripe as it is basically white as well.
The only thing about Erika's straps are that they are not as easy to put on and off the watch as the strap is a closed loop system and you have to remove the spring bars and reinstall them with the strap against the watch case. Additionally, the buckle system takes a bit to develop the finger dexterity to attach. I figured it out and it's actually not so bad to do once you have a technique down. It's mostly the fact once the strap is on, you just can't slide it out and swap another while keeping the spring bars in place. that make it less convenient to strap change compared to traditional nato and zulu straps. But, other than that, you get a great custom made and fitted quality strap that looks really cool.

NATO straps no need to deal with fraying & losing elasticity each day.. NATOs can be single pass depending on how you strap them. NATO straps are more popular for a reason besides being more fashionable they do work as designed and last forever.

Agreed. These are the two best options I've found as well. Like you, I just have never liked wearing a tucked nato, as it feels too bulky and awkward, but I like that these wear better, but still give you the spring bar failsafe security.

  • @bernardtan1

Fold over on NATO straps are like folding your jeans it makes you look better. If you don't want a strap passing under your watch case go buy a NATO with quick release spring bars, they are like normal straps in 2 parts but looks like a Zulu or NATO and they don't fray nor lose elasticity & can cost just u.s. $5

I too hate double pass Nato straps but any double pass can quickly be converted to a single. Simply cut off the back piece of the strap with a sharp knife or scissors and then melt the cut end with a lighter. I do it all the time.

I'm not a fan of Nato strap either. However, after looking at this review, I bought the exact Haveston A2 single pass strap and fixed it on my SPRC63. It is super nice and I love it. Glad that I watched this review. Thanks Rob!

These both look great Rob. I know what you mean about NATOs adding bulk. On some of my watches I wear them as a single pass-through with really good results...but my wrist is almost 8". I am definitely going to try the Erica's -just deciding on colour. Thanks for another great video :)

Those elastic straps are good for people with big thick wrist so they won't make it look even bigger. A NATO strap will make a smaller wrist look better but won't make a big fat wrist any better.

Amazing... been looking for several weeks now for decent casual straps, and you manage to point out the two excellent ones. IMHO NATO straps are just plane ugly and no one seems to be making ZULU straps anymore (if they anything they make ZULU NATO straps so they can put one more piece of metal on the strap to make it even more hideous). The Erikas original ... is simply amazing. I haven't tried it yet, but just looking at it, they have solved every desire I could have for a casual watch band.

  • @bernardtan1

Those straps will never work for me since I change straps 2x a day or every time I change clothing color scheme. NATO straps can be a single pass depending how you attach them w/o the need to deal with removing spring bars.

Nice looking straps. My only issue with natos is the comfort level, I find that they are razor sharp in the edges and uncomfortable. The Ericka strap looks comfortable but 50 plus dollars?! Is the haveston more comfortable than a typical nato strap?

NATO straps are more popular than those 2 straps in this video for a reason. That's a FACT. NATO straps are durable & last forever, they don't fray nor lose elasticity & are cost effective. Those 2 straps in this video you still have to fold if your wrist isn't as big as the guy who made this video.

    • @BenjaminLeeds
      @BenjaminLeeds Год назад

The part of nato straps that isn’t durable is the holes. On mine, the holes wear out and join together so I can’t wear them as tight any more. I don’t like my watch to slide.
However, elastic will stretch and wear out, definitely.
Floating keepers tend to drift in my experience, so I agree on that part.
