Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro TKL review and unboxing - The keyboard I've been waiting for

- Опубликовано: 4 сен 2022
- This is the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro TKL, Razer's best tenkeyless keyboard - at least in my opinion. This is a low profile keyboard with linear optical switches, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5 connectivity, a premium design and more. It's expensive but well worth it.
Highlights of the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro Tenkeyless include:
- Comfortable typing experience
- No flex or bend in the body
- Very little wobble in the keycaps
- Nicely stabilised keyswitches which are comfortable and quiet
- Good RGB lighting
Lowlights:
- Expensive

Really happy I waited and got the white version from razer directly. Everything the same but the white doesn’t show oils like the black and the rgb looks much nicer
How are the keycaps holding up? My concern with this board is that it will be like the Black G915 and look like the Exon Valdez happened on the keycaps after a few days.
I thought they forgot the 2.4 ghz dongle in my package, luckily I could pair it with my dav3 pro's dongle, lol.
Great review
Success
are these switches same as the huntsman tkl? Btw I have a g915 tkl, second time (got a new one from warranty) the keycaps paint is "melting", such bad quality for a premium price keyboard, this new one from razer seems to use different technology for the keycaps, have you faced similar challenges?
Can I ask you a question about this keyboard?
I have same model, and my unit after charing to 100% and disconnecting cable always drops to 97% or to 95% or to 92% in 3-7 minutes. Do you have same behavior?
And is it possible to wake up this keyboard by rolling volume knob? Like when keyboard is inactive state (after 15 minutes).
Asked Razer support about this, but this is hopeless. They can't give any answers.
I would have to try it for sure. Kind of seems cool that it is wireless. Love the simple feel and look. But it has a modern feel.
It's a great board. I'm a big fan of low profile.
Ergonomically, low profile is so much better for me. No need for wrist rest. Replaced with low profile optical brown switches from Keychron and it's just perfect!
Does anyone know if the UK version of this keyboard uses an ISO layout, or ANSI, like the one in the video? Unfortunately ANSI is a no-no for me, and there seems to be zero info on this.
Sad I bought the BlackWidow V3 Mini, I would have waited for this for sure.
Been waiting for this as well. Is it possible to use normal sized keycaps with this keyboard?
No it is not. Tried and it bottoms out doesn’t work correctly or fit right
I bought this keyboard recently. Technically you can since as long as they have that cross stem. However, the bottoms of the OEM profile keycap set I bought are bottoming out sooner/hitting the board sooner. That said, I heard that DSA keys (thinner profile) will work, they just wont have RGB passthrough.
@@metalskinn460 that's good to hear! Atleast you can replace the keycaps in case they dont hold up like how razer advertise them. I'm planning to buy this one soon. I also saw in reddit that you can use gateron low profile switches with this
If you were to choose between apex pro and this keyboard, which one would you pick
*no replies*
Can you put the white key caps on it
is there a wrist pad that can be used with it? Does it have the magnetic attachment some of other razer keyboards have?
Nope
can u do review of new logitech g502 x wired version !!
btw love your video as always
I've got the wireless models sadly.
Bought one but not happy about what I paid for it but looking forward to it's use
Can I change the keycaps with normal keys ??
I've been rewinding the video over and over just to see if the damn FN key can be reprogrammed....going to have to buy the thing just to find out.
Do you not find that the keycaps on the V2 Pro are a bit narrow, compared to the G915's? I notice I keep hitting the key next to the one i'm attempting to press while using the V2 Pro. I don't have that problem with the G915 because the keycaps are slightly wider on that one.
They have a “normal” profile to them. The g915 are the biggest you can get in the space allowed so once your used to that feeling going back to normal sized keys feels off.
@@frostgodx That's very true. I think Logitech absolutely nailed it with tthe G915 keycaps. I just wish they'd do a refresh (maybe a G916) similar to the G915 but without those god awful G Keys sticking out of the left side.
what about keycaps rattling? does it bother you at all?
@@cordeiro.gabriel it’s a non issue after like 10 mins use time honestly. There is no audible rattle while typing. Sure the caps have some play but it doesn’t feel disorienting or anything
@@cordeiro.gabriel The keycaps rattling on the G915 honestly doesn't sound all that loud to me. I mean, I purposely bought the Clicky switches version XD
The white model looks so much better IMO
I bet it does
Do the lights on the keyboard turn off with the computer turning off or they remain light up as long as the keyboard is in BT or 2.4Ghz mode, no matter the status of the computer?
Has anyone else had an issue with you DeathStalker TKL with the battery dropping from 100% to 96% in Synapse after charging?
The spacebar is one big mess! Also the battery percentage drops from 100% to 97% after you removed the USB cable....so it's not worth the money and I returned it
what's the height of keycaps? i have old and pretty low profile keyboard and this 1 looks similar to my. some low profile keyboards are too low tho, so would be nice of someone can answer m e, thanks
pardon me for the ignorance on keycap materials, but are the keycaps prone to fading like the g915?
The G915 keycaps haven't faded on the two we've been using for well over a year. This one is said to have durable keycap coating but obviously I've not tested long term so I can't say.
@@TheProvokedPrawn thank you for your timely response! what I heard about the g915 is that it was prone to fading due to it being just "painted over" and not doubleshot.
@@cordeiro.gabriel here you go ruclips.net/video/ZqgZCZCZZHk/видео.html
can you change the keycaps for this keyboard for keycaps from aliexpress?
Yes. I've seen people talking about using XvX low profile pbt keycaps and Keychron low profile optical switches.
the price is really a cheek
3:10 if you use the cable to charge it when you need to, you will loose connection to the dongle though 🤪
If you enjoy waiting for your keyboard to load and update, Razer is the way to go. I actually have both of these KB's. Aesthetics go to the Razer. Functionality goes to the Logitech hands down.
I have the Logitech G915 TKL. Keys are always double pressing. Sick of it. I'll be buying this Razer one.
wish they had a 65% version
If fhe deathstalker gets a mini version, ill just cry a little bit inside coz i just got the huntsman mini. Digging the low profile a lot.
your about 2 years late
Does it posible use this keyboard wired without bluetooth or 2.4 Ghz dongle ?
Yes, but if you don't plan on using the wireless at all you are better off getting the non pro wired model for cheaper. Same thing just no wireless
Hi, I just bought the black v2 pro tkl, but want to upgrade it with white keycaps. It's such a pain in the ass to find the correct ones. Any suggestions? :)
Buy the white keyboard instead.
@@TheProvokedPrawn black and white keycaps on black keyboard is much better loooking. just cant find the right white keycaps
@@robarthristov6812 yeah that'll be tough tbh.
@@robarthristov6812 buy the black and the white version then swap the keycaps and sell the one you dont want.
Comparing it to the logitech scares me. That board felt so horrible to type on. The switches were the worst I've tried.
does it work on PS5?
So which one do you like better? G915 or DSV2?
ruclips.net/video/L8IaV3LJxyQ/видео.html
Which one should I pick between Apex pro 2023 and Deathstalker v2 pro ?! 🤯
Two different types of keebs. One saves the wrist and does everything well. The other is straight pro game mode. In the end it’s more about what you want cause they have much different types of usability
Are the switches on this board hotswappable? A Reddit poster claims that they are, and that he switched out the stock ones. However, Razer doesn't advertise the board as having hotswappable switches, and no review I've read or seen has said that it has them.
No. They aren't hot swap
@@SeanOMatic OK, thx.
@@Noneya5555 Hey, I am actually going to correct myself. It IS hot swappable, but you need to use Gateron low profile optical switches (Avail from KeyChron), as no other switches will work. They HAVE to be the low profile optical from Gateron, or Razer swtiches, which aren't sold aftermarket.
@@SeanOMatic Thanks for the update.
Lol the spacebar sounds like those 2 dolar Logitech office keyboard
For anyone else wondering, apparently you cannot reprogram FN on razer keyboards. Fail.
you can use keyboard when is charged ?
you can use it while charging, if that's what you mean?
i want to buy this keyboard so bad but it’s to damn expensive for a keyboard
luckily i only got this for 103 usd. brand new
I used to have huntsman elite with clicky keys but I wanted to get a low profile, mechanical and wireless without the need to charge it too often. So obviously I got G915 TKL. I chose linear keys because from many reviews I heard that clicky are way too clicky and tactile are also quite clicky. Also I like the fact that with G915 you can save color profiles to the keyboard and don't need the logitech software running on the background - I just hate when theres gazillion softwares starting at startup and running in the tray - especially if they rerally don't need to.
So is it now possible to save simple (like static white) profile to keyboard and use it without running the synapse?
Also I see that Razer still uses those flimsy BS keyboard legs that fcking unfold every time when you happen to push keyboard away from you and using a large XXL mat under it. No such BS with G915. I Razer could fix those couple BS things I would gladly get the Razer KB again.
I bought the G915 wireless immidiatelly on release because it was the only thing offered on the market, I then also bought the TKL. I love them, they are not perfect, but I love them. I also save color profiles ( I love synthwave with pink / purple)
Mumtipl reviewers have commented that the Deathstalker V2 Pro build quality is overall better than the G915. Also the Razer keyboard has optical switches which are slightly better than standard mechanical switches
I adore this keyboard, but the slow wake up drives me nuts. Many words with the first two letters cut off everyday.
And that is when you are connected with BT or the 2.4ghz transmitter?
Wired one is the way to go imo it also turns off right away with your pc while the wireless doesn’t
Is this faster than the Wooting 60he?
It’s not do to the set actuation you can set on the wooting. A lot of keyboards in the market to be fair are not as fast as the wooting.
why on earth would that matter at all what is "faster" thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard... your fingers arent going to come anywhere near being able to max out any sort of actuation or latency to make a noticeable difference when its like this. Dont buy into the hype
@@frostgodx I mean games like osu would make good use for this, so performance does matter in that regard. Anything else I agree I suppose.
Hellooooow this is the provoooked Prowwn
Hello
@@TheProvokedPrawn Hey there,
This keyboard does look pretty plain (in a good way) for those looking for that kinda thing.
Those dongle storage covers I kinda despise though as not many people have long nails or need to use some kinda tool to pop it off.
Good review dude!
is this waterproof or splashproof ?
Not to my knowledge. That's fairly rare in keyboards in my experience.
Shame it costs 400 dollars in Australia lmao
Ooof
400 australian dollars or american dollars?
Only $200 au now
Can anyone confirm that this works with PS5? If it does, 915 TKL is useless..
did you ever find out if it works with ps5? wireless or wired?
@@goalessio works wired.
ABS for 200+
I want to love Logitech, but all of their wireless keyboards are micro usb, holy crap why does logitech such so much.
if a product has to use razer synapse is as junk as razer synapse
Razer keyboard has hot swappable switches, Logitech G915 does not. G915 is inferior.
sadly it has the ABS-Sound
Disappointment it wont have clicky switches
Yes shame really
@absolutPorka just fullsized
Just like the old days just buy the full size and swap switches
What about the red switches?
It does now the purple ones
avoid buying this product. i bought one 1 month ago and now the battery takes more than 12+ hours to be fully charged and die in 3 hours.
Which is why I bought the wired
Personally I just don't like TKL keyboards. I am a bigger guy and I also am old school and really just like my numpad.
I used to be like you then I found the love. But I don't like smaller ones
$200 for this :'(
Man 230€ in Germany 😂 Thanks to the new Blackwidow v4 the price dopped couple days ago down to 179€ but still very expensive
