Happy Christmas. Thank you for your videos. You got me interested in keyboards recently and have watched so many of your past videos already. Best wishes from the UK. Tim
Off topic, but have you ever done a video on Cherry MX's keyboards? I was browsing Amazon for my latest impulse buy and noticed the Bronze Cherry KC 200 MX had a 40% off coupon ... I had already hit buy before I thought to look for a review, and then realized that I haven't really seen any of the big name Key-Tubers cover Cherry boards.

That's exactly right. I myself try to grab whatever the latest drop is for my first board and cannot even get into the hobby because nothing is ever available and even with these useless hipster-long waiting lists they still just never ship enough units. As someone who has spent easily over 1k eur on just 2 keyboards, I absolutely hope they can deliver on everything they promise. More competition is always great for the consumer. I've also been recommending people keyboards a lot and it can sometimes be really difficult to find something that caters to their preferences, especially when they want something that isn't your avg budget 60% / 65%. It would make for an absolutely beautiful recommendation for the 75% / TKL range for newcomers. Also I think they mainly only went with linears because tactiles can be so different. For example, I love heavy tactiles (WS Heavy Tactile / White Jades for example) but I really don't like medium / light tactiles. I also know a lot of people love medium or light tactiles, but find heavy tactiles too fatiguing. They probably couldn't give people too many options (possible logistical nightmare) and also didn't really know which tactile to go with? I think the ideal option would be something like Durock T1 or equivalent, which is a medium tactile and should have a wide enough appeal for tactile enjoyers but I don't know for sure. Linears are pretty safe on the other hand. The biggest difference when it comes to people's taste is just spring weight, the rest is pretty minute (long pole vs short pole / material / sound etc) I tried a lot of linears and while I've had some I liked more than others, there weren't really any I thought felt bad unless they had actual quality issues. Either way, great video and I wish these guys both success and hope they will deliver on their promises.
As a big tactile lover, i prefer light / medium tactiles, so you have any recommendations for a "creamy" or "deep" sounding switch? I would love to try something new as i have only tried a few boards, any suggestions?
I bounced around from the kailh box white, jade, blue, and navy, then to the original glorious pandas (which were started failing after 9 months, and required a full press to register) and finally just got some Red Dragon Bullet-F Wukong and WOW these are my favorite so far. Super smooth, medium weight (63g peak) no click but a very definite and immediate tactile bump with no pre-travel (which I love). The image on their site has the pressure/actuation points backwards, but it seems perfect. Also, the 3mm bottom makes for faster typing vs. common 4mm switches. Best of all, they're dirt cheap and I believe pre-lubed. I'm going to try their QT-lime which has a touch of pre-travel, lighter weight, softer bottom, and an earlier actuation point for my next build. I've heard great things about those too for speed typing.
I think you might have forgotten to mention that the Pro version has an FR4 plate instead, making the sound test not a fully accurate comparison between just the switches. I knew FR4 versions existed, but I didn't know they were moving forward with making that the default for the ones with steel weights. Extra plates are listed on their website, but I hope those are available for the kickstarter because if not that really eliminates the Pro model for me. I'll buy both plates, but if I'm stuck with just one I want the soft and RGB-friendly polypropylene.
Ok Hipyo, this keyboard has my interest. Great price, sounds great, 75% (turns out I need that F row for my game), hot swappable, and has the looks. I just wait until it comes in stock!
I’m worried that it’s a scam, kickstarters are known for people running off with your money and convincing creators that it’s legit just to advertise for them. Might wait till after preorder and see what happens otherwise i’d love one
Waiting patiently for this to come in stock because the stock sound is just so damn good. All I gotta do at most is tune the stabilizers if needed but everything they did to get that sound profile is just music to my ears.
Since you asked the engagement-boosting question: I'll take the stainless steel weight over the glass one eleven times out of ten. Glass is a lot easier to break, and they last thing I need is a keyboard full of broken glass.
This keyboard began and ended my foray into mechanical keyboards. This hits the point of diminishing returns at exactly the right place. I paid 25% higher than the originally described cost for the pro version at the publication of this video. Not good for travel though, it’s heavy AF, but makes typing a joy and a chore without it.
Dont sleep on hmx switches. They make some of the best long poled switches, very little wobble and some of the best factory lube i have seen (even better than bsun's factory lube job) . The hyacinth v2s are one of my favourite linear switches to date
Mine just arrived today (blue pro, which I chose primarily for the battery life) and OMG it is incredible. The sound out of the box is shockingly nice, and as someone who is lazy I really appreciate not needing to mod it to get a nice sound. It's hefty af, beautiful, I'm beyond glad you made this video. ❤
Same and 1000% agree. I'm so so glad I finally jumped on a keyboard bc it sounds INCREDIBLE stock, exactly like the video. It's gorgeous & shockingly hefty.
Nice entry, both versions are attractive, stock violets with foam and without. Just different in how they are sounding. It's also nice new builds are produced made of full metal in lower than usual prices. Which latter means that the status of elaborated metal being "better" and more qualified than plastic or other, has more been one issue of manufacturing process and marketing strategy than one practical daily necessity. Using now three different keyboards, only one carries an aluminum case and is a scissor switches one, a Satechi Slim X1 of 69 euros purchase a few years ago. Good job btw.
This is now my favorite keyboard of the ones I own. Even moreso now that I swapped out the plate for a non-flex-cut version I picked upon AliExpress and the switches for some lovely, deep-sounding Akko Rosewoods. It's absolute joy to type on, and the sound is \*chef kiss*.
Just got the pro version because of this video and it definitely doesn't disappoint! I still can't believe how far we've come in terms of prebuilts. I remember thinking my Leopold FC750R back in the day was the best prebuilt I ever bought just because it had a tiny bit of case foam, decently lubed stabs, and no real pinging problems, but the rainy75 just demolishes it in every aspect.
just received my rainy75 ordering from china, gotta say it is a great keyboard out of the box, stabs are well tuned, very suitable for beginner or if you are looking for a secondary keyboard. the default hmx violet sound a lil bit poppy and loud.. btw this keyboard is the most sought after budget keyboard right now in china and sold out for every batch for 3 batches already
Hey man, I watched tens of your videos and this video got me actually buying Rainy75! I've never had a mechanical keyboard in my life and I thought they're just marketing sht for gamers (all I tried in the showrooms were actually terrible). But with your channel I've learned about keyboard design, about sound, and now I'm typing this comment on my brand new keyboard and OMG the stock feel and sound are beautiful! I can surely confirm it's relatively budget friendly AMAZING keyboard for people that don't want assemble a custom keyboard. Thank you so much for being an awesome content creator and keep it up!
UPDATE: The keyboard came in over the weekend and it sounds so amazing. My wife told me it sounds fake, like a cartoon keyboard in real life lol. Probably the most satisfying piece of hardware I ever paid for to be honest. For those that want a high quality keyboard out of the box and not really a board enthusiast or customizer like me, get this board and never need to buy another board again. Maybe a second rainy 75 for work.
I've never had a Kickstarter from a brand that already makes things fail to ship. It's a great way to judge how popular it might be and reach an audience who might never see it on Amazon.
Daaaaaaamn it sounds amazing! It's like typing with ceramic dominoes dropping on a cloth covered solid wood table. The more expensive switches still sound nice, but more like nice ABS dominoes on a paper towel covered wood veneer table. No foam gives it a nice old school sound, but it definitely loses the premium tone. Just case foam makes it sound more like most mid range mechanical keyboards I think. Overall seems like an awesome keyboard for the money.
I've been using this keyboard for about 2 months now (purchased from Iconlabs back in December), and it's incredible for a pre-built $100 keyboard. The HMX Violet switches were pretty well factory lubed along with the stabilizers, so it just sounds and feels great stock if you like the marble sound and dont mind very little flex.
About a month. Ordered it on December 26th and got it around the end of January. It looks like it's available from quite a few keyboard retailers for preorder as of now, too.
I don’t think it’s been in stock yet, they’re probably still busy fulfilling orders from the pre order. Give it a few more months and hopefully it’ll be in stock.
My partner just got me the pro version of this keyboard, and I am in love with it. I'm still relatively new to the hobby, but this is the best keyboard I've ever owned!
shaking at you tearing the plastic and switches out of the foam and pbc like a maniac, that's pro reckless behavior 🤣🤣 but i love how thorough this review is
Got this board the other day and decided to come back to this review, got the black standard version and bought a black set and white set of keycaps & lubed the stock switches. The best budget board and possibly the best board I have owned before (bare in mind I have owned the Zoom75 and yes... the GMMK pro)
I don't even know where to begin with you Hipyo. I'm a certified NON GAMER with a gaming setup and as of today I have three Rainy 75 keyboards. I'm not sure if I should hug you - or stop watching your channel so this hobby that I didn't know I was a part of ends. I got them all on Amazon and they are SO BEAUTIFUL! And as I write this I'm still considering a few more colors. I'm afraid to take them out of the boxes though - so right now I'm just admiring them in the boxes. I have both the standard and pro and I have watched this video (many, many times) and read everyone's comments and I'm still not sure which one I want to open first. Thank you so much for the enthusiasm, passion, humor and knowledge you put into this channel. I love all the videos! 🩵🩵🩵

I was literally about to post on one of your reviews: "why can't anyone make a keyboard quiet and less than $150?" And then I find this video, I'm gonna take this gamble on the kickstarter. So tired of the loud "quiet" mechanical keyboards I've ordered lol. This Rainy75 just sounds beautiful to me lol.
I bought the Rainy 75 pro version after watching yours and others' videos online. It's my first mechanical keyboard and I'm super happy with it. I think I'm going down the rabbit hole bc I'm already thinking of getting another keyboard. 😅 I love the Rainy 75 pro, and I'm also curious about getting a less thocky kb, maybe one that's a bit lighter in sound. Would you say that the Rainy light/standard is different enough from the pro to warrant getting both, or would you recommend getting a different kb for a lighter sound profile?
The pro version is a bit deeper sounding while the standard is slightly clackier. You could try experimenting with the keyboard by testing different switches, keycaps, mods, etc. until you find what you like best. I would recommend watching Hipyo's video "Thock Vs Clack", which demonstrates the sounds from over 35 different keyboards with various configurations!
In the case of the Leobog switches not working. I had the same problems with the KTT kang white switches. It was actually an easy fix. I found out it wasn't working because the pins weren't touching the "pin holder" properly. Let's just call it "pin holder" cause I don't know the right term, but i hope you get it. What I did to fix it was bend the pin a little bit so that it touches the pin holder more. And it worked great. Just quick advice. Good luck on your keyboard journey!
im currently using this exact keyboard that hippo has (Blue ecoat, HMX switch, chroma glass weight). And i have to tell you this thing is insane, the sound is super super good, the ecoating is really good (im scared to say this but i feel it almost better than the CW88 which is wayyy more expensive), stock stab is a-okay but because the plate is really soft, it flex a tons when i tried to remove the spacebar. Its tri-mode PCB does support VIA which even some big company doesnt do on theirs product (Looking at you QK, TKD), it also have the brightest RGB on any keyboard i have ever used. There are some problems you need to know if you want to buy this tho. The QC is not that great, i bought 2 for me and my friend through taobao and its completely fine but some others experienced bad QC, although the company did change a new one for them. And one thing tho, this thing sold out in like, 3 second when it first got sale on taobao at 11/11 so be sure to buy it quick haha
I just got two Keychron Q keyboards, I really like them. What do you think makes this better specifically? I didn't like the pro the Q3 regular ended up being my favorite.
Hey Hipyo, I had my first foray into keyboard modding with a red dragon k552 that I got for free with a computer I bought. Following the videos I did the tape and the foam mod and it had already started sounding better with the blue switches. I then decided to get some akko switches and went with the silver pro v3. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that they were 5 pin instead of the 3 pin switches. So then I had to mod all of the switches to make them fit since I don't live in the States and returning them would have been too much of a hassle. All of the switches work and I am really glad with the thocky sound that it has now.
I’ve come to confirm that I pre-purchased the pro and I did in fact get a email asking for what color I wanted and delivery. I got it in white since black was unavailable. Here’s to hoping I get this sweet sounding keyboard in april now that all the backing and extra stuff is done🙏
A 75% keyboard with 2.4GHz and VIA support? This is almost exactly what I want. I've been holding out from buying the Keychron Q1 Max, because they'd seemingly the only people who support QMK/VIA. II think they could have easily cut less corners, made this about $150-$160 fully built and it would be damn near perfect. I'd buy that instantly. Hell, just screw in stabs and a non-sliced up board gets my sale. Regarding wireless keyboards, though, do you have to turn them on/off every time or do they time out or something?
If you care about productivity and ergonomics more than sound, then the best thing about this board is the option of having a split spacebar. Unfortunately, you'll have to settle for the ISO enter key with the split spacebar option--unless you can somehow alter the plate because I think the PCB itself will support it. You also won't get RGB with the split layout.
Its temporarily for sale on Wobkey (Ships in July): www.wobkey.com/hipyo

The bug comes with the keyboard! So cute! It's been trained to do tricks! Amazing attention to detail!
@@PureCapsaicinlike omori???
Waiting patiently for this to come in stock because the stock sound is just so damn good. All I gotta do at most is tune the stabilizers if needed but everything they did to get that sound profile is just music to my ears.
it’s 160 for some reason, but it’s out

Since you asked the engagement-boosting question: I'll take the stainless steel weight over the glass one eleven times out of ten. Glass is a lot easier to break, and they last thing I need is a keyboard full of broken glass.
You slamming your keyboard?
@@Dogeyess I've dropped one more than once.
I heard these are just recolors of hyacinth v2s.
searching for a good 75% for the past week and then seeing this uploaded just an hour ago was insane
I loved the muted/deeper/a bit muffled sound of the dark one. I'm guessing they have no plans for an ISO-Nordic one?
extra $$ iso plate support but not nordic specifically
What's that?
Mine just arrived today (blue pro, which I chose primarily for the battery life) and OMG it is incredible. The sound out of the box is shockingly nice, and as someone who is lazy I really appreciate not needing to mod it to get a nice sound. It's hefty af, beautiful, I'm beyond glad you made this video. ❤
How long did it take to ship?
I prefer the mirror plate compared to the other one, even if its finger print magnet. It looks better to me 😊
agreeable lol
I got my keyboard this week and ordered from this video. Its giving me ASMR when I type, thank you for this!
When will this be in stock?
You inspired me to embark on my own keyboard journey on RUclips thank you. I've watched soooo many of your videos love your content.
what do you guys think between the battle of budget 90$ builds?? The Rainy 75 or the Womier sk71??? Please respond I look forward to it
Ngl this is an insane budget keyboard. I'm really impressed by the breakdown
This keyboard sold about 7000 unit on preorder this month in taobao and its always out of stock after restocking
This is now my favorite keyboard of the ones I own. Even moreso now that I swapped out the plate for a non-flex-cut version I picked upon AliExpress and the switches for some lovely, deep-sounding Akko Rosewoods. It's absolute joy to type on, and the sound is \*chef kiss*.
same! both the sound and the typing experience is so goood
Love you hipyo! I bought an RK61 a while ago and I haven’t yet modded it but yesterday you inspired me to tape mod it and holy cow it helps.
Just got the pro version because of this video and it definitely doesn't disappoint!
I still can't believe how far we've come in terms of prebuilts. I remember thinking my Leopold FC750R back in the day was the best prebuilt I ever bought just because it had a tiny bit of case foam, decently lubed stabs, and no real pinging problems, but the rainy75 just demolishes it in every aspect.
just received my rainy75 ordering from china, gotta say it is a great keyboard out of the box, stabs are well tuned, very suitable for beginner or if you are looking for a secondary keyboard. the default hmx violet sound a lil bit poppy and loud.. btw this keyboard is the most sought after budget keyboard right now in china and sold out for every batch for 3 batches already
where did you get it from?

Which is better womier sk71 or the rainy one
Ive kinda forgotten about this rabbit hole for like a year and now I have the urge to buy this board for xmas. Thx hipyo.
M1W, Hi75, then this? what a year for Alu
Between this and the monsgeek m1w, the yunzii al71, the womier71 or the ciddo v75 which one you guys would recommend?
I've been using this keyboard for about 2 months now (purchased from Iconlabs back in December), and it's incredible for a pre-built $100 keyboard. The HMX Violet switches were pretty well factory lubed along with the stabilizers, so it just sounds and feels great stock if you like the marble sound and dont mind very little flex.
How long did it take to come
where do you do you find it in iconlabs, i cant find it anywhere
About a month. Ordered it on December 26th and got it around the end of January. It looks like it's available from quite a few keyboard retailers for preorder as of now, too.
would you look at that its been 2 months since the video and the keyboard is out of stock everywhere I looked.

Should i buy it? As my first keyboard?

I'm not sure if I should hug you - or stop watching your channel so this hobby that I didn't know I was a part of ends. I got them all on Amazon and they are SO BEAUTIFUL! And as I write this I'm still considering a few more colors. I'm afraid to take them out of the boxes though - so right now I'm just admiring them in the boxes. as someone who bought the pro version of this keyboard because of this video, it is DEFINITELY living up to the hype. despite shipping delays and lack of communication from Wobkey outside of their discord, i do not regret my purchase even slightly! i bought the SteelSeries 400$ scam keyboard, and the rainy75 is a better experience in every way!

That's the pro, you can get the lite
They're available on the MFRs website starting at $99. The starting price of 89 was for the kickstarter.
How long did it take you to get your keyboard
It seems like brands are now sharing the production line of this keyboard. Womier is now selling it as the SK75, and you can actually find it at $89.
W Video! Keep up the good work Hipyo!
The ant just crawling around there 😂 13:46
I have this board, you won't notice the hotspots with normal typing. You have to apply way more force to make it apparent.
I just got mine today, and... oh my god. Now I get it. It's, dare I say... heaven?
Just got mine in. Typing on it now. Very cool and sounds great for my very first "Nice" keyboard. :]
And one thing tho, this thing sold out in like, 3 second when it first got sale on taobao at 11/11 so be sure to buy it quick haha
how did you get it

I just got two Keychron Q keyboards, I really like them.
What do you think makes this better specifically?
I didn't like the pro the Q3 regular ended up being my favorite.
Biggest thing would be the price being cheaper, but the back weight options give it just a more premium vibe

Why was there just a random bug on the left side of the case in 13:45 lol?
this keyboard is so beautiful!

I found the rainy 75 on Amazon, it’s gonna be stock soon
the kickstarter hasn't even been filled yet. after that, they'll be putting them on amazon
