    Any thoughts on finding managers/agents on the East coast? Live in “DC”, so when would I love representation to Atlanta or NYC? Or does it matter if I start there? Thanks for the advice and great information in the videos!

      Hey Anthony! So sorry but I don't know about finding rep on the east coast... I'd assume the process is similar. I know there are way less agents and managers there than here though, which is kind of a good thing. Try starting with Atlanta!

      I would assume quite a few have actors that live in ATL. Those actors most likely have rep in the southeast as well, but IF they're truly bicoastal then they'd have LA rep.

      Hi, unfortunately there isn't really a site to search for managers, since they're business is less regulated than agents. Best way is to go to IMDb.com, search for actors that are playing roles on shows that you think you could be auditioning for, and see who their managers are and submit to them.

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  6 лет назад +2

      I'm not that familiar with IMTA, but in general, convention type businesses like that aren't beneficial, and they cost a LOT. Any time you are asked to pay someone up front is a red flag. I would instead choose a city close to you (like Chicago) where there's a lot of production and start with submitting to agents there. :)

And if you get a meeting with one, see if they have relationships with any managers they can refer you to. Just always look them up on IMDb to make sure they have legit clients, and charge you no money up front.

    Hi Angie, somewhere I believe you stated that you can reach out to backstage for agency or management. I was able to email backstage, and they have something like you can pay a fee or cost to send out your resume to show your profile to I guess other agents or managers. it sounds like Explore Talent, I once signed up and had to pay a fee or cost. I received from them a text message that stated Pepis, target, and others for commercials, My profile fit there description. My question to you is backstage the same, but is legit? thank you.

    • @AngiePattersonYT

      Hey William, I didn't know Backstage provided that service, and I don't know anything about Explore Talent, but I do know Backstage is a completely legit and known company. Hey Angie, another question. Do you or have you paid for an audition with representation? I have an audition with a management company, and they are charging to record the session. This seems odd, but they are a legitimate company and listed on IMDB and Backstage. They also want exclusive representation. Does this hurt beginning actors? Thanks!

      None of that sounds legit at all. None of it is industry standard. You're welcome to email me angiepattersonYT@gmail.com with the name of the company and I'll let you know if I know anything about them!

    Hi first, thank u , u have given me so much information that helps sooo much . What about someone that does unlimited headshots for 2 months (for $300) so I can retake and take as much as I want to start a portfolio and he will help prepare me and help me fill out a resume and send me to agents , do u think it’s legit , and how would I know if an agency is legit , let’s say they don’t ask for money , would their be other red flags or?

    • @ktoth29
      @ktoth29 6 лет назад +1

      sounds shady to me. You don't need unlimited headshots you only need one, if your photographer can't help you get a good headshot within a two hour session than they probably aren't going to be able to get one in two months.

      The photographer does sound fishy to me; I've never heard of an offer like that. Make sure to check him out online. As for the agency, look them up on IMDb.com and make sure they have a client list with working actors.

    Will acting classes help you get experience

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  5 лет назад

      Not experience on set, no, but acting experience yes. And you can put your classes on your resume.

    • @AngiePattersonYT
      @AngiePattersonYT  5 лет назад +1

      @@rashuneknight3939 I think it's best to focus on finding one class that feels good to you. If that means you have to take a few classes to find the right one, then do that. Some classes let you audit, where you just come watch a class for free to see if it's right for you.

      In the very beginning of your career, you only need one, most likely a manager. Some managers prefer to work with an agent on the team, and some don't care.

      Riley Angel for a really long time like since I was 5. My parents just won’t let me bc they don’t believe I’ll ever be successful in acting, although I’ve been told several times by my drama teachers and directors I have a natural talent for acting.
