I agree. It is a very beautifully composed melody. The production on the entire album ruins it though. I wanna do an accoustic cover of this song on my channel.
The more time that passes the more I miss Carl Wilson. I often think about how Tom Petty talked about Carl's incredible voice... A combination amazement, appreciation, and envy! I love reading people's comments about Carl. Also appreciate John Hunter Phillips music and his committment to the Beach Boys... Hope JHP is enjoying life in Hawaii....
A very underrated album . Some great tracks on this album despite the absence of Brian. This is one of my all time favourite songs. If not my number one . I love the lyrics and music.

I'd never heard this song until last week, listening to the "all Beach Boys" channel 4 on Sirius radio, it came on. It caught my ear, and I've listened to it a bunch of times since. Real good song. Perhaps my favorite Beach Boys song now.

This is the best song on the album, in my opinion, but I think the whole album is very good. It has an overall tropical island feel to it which is what I feel the band wanted to accomplish. Most lifelong Beach Boys fans don't like anything that Brian didn't write, dissing the rest of the band as no talents and that isn't true or fair. This album shows that the Boys could still do a beachy vibe in a grown up way and it works.
Each to their own. I'm a big fan of the Beach Boys but I do not dig this album. I don't mind kokomo but these cheap knock offs are not it. This album has some of their worst songs ever in my opinion (summer of love and walking in the sand especially). This song isn't so bad though. Its not even that I dislike the songs Brian didn't write. The period between Sunflower to Holland doesnt have much Brian involvement and they're some of my favourite albums of all time. Where the sea breeze
Sways the palm trees
Paradise awaits
And so does she
Reliving love
That was like a romance
From a page in history
It was the last place
That he stopped at
On the way back to his boat
She was dancin'
Met his glancin'
Like they say
"It was all she wrote"
You know I want to
But I can't stay (bye bye)
Girl you know I'm gonna sail away
When the wind comes up
And when the sun goes down
I'll say "goodbye" to this Hawaiian town
Out on the water when the full moon shines
You and Lahaina always on my mind
They left the dance floor
So they could spend more
Precious time near the water side
It wasn't wrong
And it wasn't right
They were two ships
Passing in the night
You know I want to
But I can't stay (bye bye)
Girl you know I'm gonna sail away
When the wind comes up
And when the sun goes down
I'll say "goodbye" to this Hawaiian town
I think about you when the full moon shines
Lahaina always on my mind
You know I want to
But I can't stay (bye bye)
Girl you know I'm gonna sail away
When the wind comes up
And when the sun goes down
I'll say "goodbye" to this Hawaiian town
I think about you when the full moon shines
