“Another Day” was released off Dream Theater’s first album with their new label Atco, and sales far exceeded expectations making the band one of just a few progressive metal bands to put out a gold album.

Written by guitarist John Petrucci, the song deals with his father’s bout with cancer and was one of two tunes he wrote about his dad for the band.
The song was the first commercially released ballad by Dream Theater and our own Gabriela Gunčíková is taking on the tune in this video. Let us know what you thought!

@@markopalikko6986 in fact she is so powerful than when she was in czech superstar competition, they have trouble with microphones for her. Because she was so loud, than not only her microphone, but mics in audition recorded her singing, so there was echoes because of it😂
I am truly mind blown... I’m a big fan of 90’s Labrie and I have never really seen anyone sing at that level... powerful, punchy, friggin perfect. That was probably the best DT vocal cover I have ever watched. Absolutely phenomenal!!!!

I'm a Dream Theater fan and I've listened really critically - the result is really impressive. Getting the high notes with chest voice and power is definitely a challenge for every singer. She couldn't have done better. I am really impressed!!!

Lebrie couldn't carry this girls water! I like DT's music, but Lebrie is what kept that band from being as big as they could've been. Sorry, not sorry.

Simply I can´t stop watching and listening this ... its simple awesome, and I can say I loved it better than the original version.
I was working for a well know band when the original Dream Theater (also known as Majesty) opened for us. I have followed them to this day. In my humble opinion James has one of those voices that sounds fantastic, great, good, ok, meh.... depending on the song. I can’t explain it.
This is an amazing vocal performance and I would be interested in hearing her sing this song live with a band. DT songs are structured around his tone, grit and falsetto... while this rendition is smoother and to be honest more powerful. Kudos to student and teacher!

Ken, Have you ever come across a singer that can sound so good on one song and utterly inadequate on another? How does that happen? Is it a result of song arrangement?
IMHO for DT, James is not irreplaceable like some other original singers. DT would perhaps benefit from having a singer that could have more range, power and charisma than James anno 2021. And it would probably also be very beneficial visually to have a singer like Gabriela. DT can be boring and offering something else/more would be welcome at this time. I have heard Gabrielas other covers and they are good but not jaw-droppingly good like this one. I've heard this over and over again. Probably her singing abilities would be lended to DT's music.

Been listening to Dream Theater for over 20 years. This is an amazing cover of one of my favourite songs. I love her.
This is again not a mistake, beautiful, strong, felt, breathtaking! The song is great and the performance is amazing, absolutely. The depth, the incredible endurance, the color, the melody, the harmonization is breathtaking. I've heard a lot of great singing performances from Gabina, but in this song she is magnificent, one of the most well-conceived things, absolutely top performance, I repeat, the endurance is extraordinary! If anyone thought that Gaba could not move any further, he hears that he was wrong, her voice rises to fantastic heights, I have always adored Gabka's voice and I will love him forever! One may have a bad day, like the last time through back pain, but when he hears Gabča sing in such an extraordinary way, he knows that despite all the difficulties, it is worth living and enjoying life to the fullest at any moment. I want concerts and I want to hear and see Gabriela sing. I remember to this day, when I first saw on TV in a talent competition, so charming and with an unmistakable voice familiar to Czech conditions, that my best wheelchair friend and I knew that our rock goddess had appeared. We became among the first members of her fan club and together with the others, who were "affected" by her singing in the most pleasant way, we experienced several amazing meetings, including her birthday celebrations, it was a great time. She was the one who inspired me to compose two personal poems for her, when my ordinary little thing got the most out of it, it was because Gabča is the strongest inspiration, as if a piece of her immense talent was breathing on me. I personally passed the verses at a meeting of our great fan club, where we met each other full of amazing people and became friends. Everything is evolving, as is Gabča and her singing career, which has been working mostly behind a large puddle for the last few years. You can know it, you can know it in the greatest way. In conclusion, I cannot say anything other than that I am completely enchanted, amazed and in love with her art, in her divine voice! .Gabi, thanks for being, you are an inspiration, you are an idol, you are a person to whom we will forever wish success and happiness in life and we will hope for a personal reunion, there are many of us who will still want it. You go on your way, Gabriel, your way, often thorny, but your path is indomitable because you are, never, despite all possible obstacles you will not give up, you are a strong girl, a woman whom we admire with the utmost sincerity and keep your fingers crossed for you to continue your dream.

@@kentamplin I started singing by accident...singer lost voice in middle of song and I got shoved up to the mic...I don't know anything technically about singing (I just do what I do) but it sounds like she hit those high notes full voice and that is scary impressive

This is fantastic... more than almost any of DT's other songs this demands a genuinely *powerful* voice to properly cover, and she doesn't just reach that bar, she soars over it. Incredible 🤩
