Hi Katy, vibrato is easier to teach in person, but I can give some tips. Vibrato is easier to start in 3rd position. Practising the shake on each finger one at a time. Start by practising finger 1 shaking for 10 seconds and gradually increase the practising time to 25/30 seconds. Then repeat on finger 2,3 and 4. You'll notice that the shake feels different on each finger, some fingers shake easier than others.
Another tip is to make sure your left hand thumb is loosely holding the violin, not too stiff.
