This video is part of a series of opera arias we've arranged for cello and piano with our friend, cellist Cicely Parnas. We're so excited to begin sharing this Aria Project with you all (we've been working on it since the summer!), and hope you enjoy our revamped versions that show off the cello's ability to sing like the human voice. We arranged a total of nine of our favorite arias, and will release videos for all of them in the coming weeks. If you're interested in playing these arrangements yourselves, the sheet music is available here: bit.ly/2NwdFPa
Except that they've paid out tens of thousands of dollars in instruments, lessons etc. Not to mention years of dedication to their craft. The only people that think that art should be free aren't artists.
This cello SINGS, nothing less. The piano has a very warm sound, even more so than the Bösendorfer. A marvelous performance, well recorded. Bravo depuis Montréal.
December 2024. Fort Worth, Texas. Who's here? It's hard to find the words and I don't want to say anything. I want to listen forever.! Thanks to these amazing artist. It's a really beautiful performance ...
@@valerio8022 Yes you're correct; I should have used the feminine plural. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Nevertheless, the ladies play very, very well.
Sublime. The simpatico between the pianist and the cellist was spot on, very natural and unforced. Perfect tempo. Careful attention to and flawless execution of dynamics, articulation, and phrasing. You both express so much ease and joy and love in your playing. BRAVO!
Agreed. A child's introduction to opera should begin with Bizet's Carmen. My beloved Old World father was a New Yorker, whose passion was classical music, especially opera. I was given an album of 78rpm records of this opera to listen to when I was 5 years old. Needles to say, I love classical music. These two musicians are beautiful women playing beautiful music. ❤❤
@@paulmasgalajian8102 Oh woah, that's so cool. I'm glad I got to learn a bit from that. And ufghhhh, I Love classical music too. ~♡♡♡~ Do you have a favorite peice/song by Bizet?
Perfection! Congratulations to Marnie and Cicely; an exciting arrangement of this exciting aria; Cicely your cello playing was stunning and so evocative; and Marnie as always you captivated me the whole way through. The ending was just perfect; exciting and challenging. Congratulations and many thanks to you both. Love and all best from Mary, Dublin, Ireland xx PS And Marnie your RED dress was just spot on for this Habanera!! Well chosen .... X
Even though this is not an audiophile recording it sounds fantastic on my Hifi system as well as on my headphones . The dynamics are delivered as Bizet intended them to be. This piece Carmen is one of my favorites. Well done Marnei and Cicily.
PS: Forgot to say that Cicely's black ensemble with the colourful skirt was very well chosen also. A great combination of colours and absolute professionalism by Cicely and Marnie :)
It's a really beautiful composition well played. The issue with classical music is that it doesn't go anywhere. Most often it's just a repetition of the same thing with a small variation. These days a classical piece would form the foundation and there would be a break where the musicians blow your mind.

If technology has a bright side, it's that musicians like this are able to deliver this loveliness into my home, at no charge. Thank you!

@@Conn30Mtenor They get at least some money through google adsense aka views so it isn‘t completely free.
@@Conn30Mtenor He never said he wanted them to be free. He said that it being free was a plus. Stop being pretentious and learn to read.
@@Conn30Mtenor yea that piano alone does not look cheap

When you began to play, you invoked a rare thrill that started at the top of by spine ans shivered its way all the way down. Absolutely delightful.
