All of the piano/cello duets on both the Brooklyn Duo channel and this one make me bummed that I have no friends that are pianists. Currently working on this piece on cello and have no one to play it with!

The production quality is quite good. I see good use of lighting and sound absorption panels. Good mic placement and eq'ing. Of course their performance is very good as well but a good performance matched with good production quality is always appreciated.
I was about to say the same thing: the sound quality is amazingly good and gives justice to the performance!
Great piece and performances, both are brilliant.
Hope next time you can put the mic a little to the side, it just blocks the bridge.

I have studied music to a relatively high level (in my youth, I practiced the oboe, which I studied at Saint-Étienne national music school - a town in the Southeast of France, not far from Lyon).

Beautifully played. In the meantime I noticed a left foot pushing a pedal. What's that I thought? Switching the cello microphone? No, that does not match the timing in the music. Oh, I get it, she's "turning pages" in the "sheet" music on the "tablet".
@@arthurbutlerpresents7864- I discovered these ladies today on RUclips and played some of their clips. After this first one and my comment, in an older clip, I observed the electronic pedal was different and I noticed pianist wiped the tablet display at some point.

I listen to this piece often when experiencing writer's block on my retirement novel project. It gives me energy and an emotional boost to get started. Thank you again for sharing your talent.
I love the music from Brooklyn Classical and Brooklyn Duo. Question I've always wanted to ask musicians: Why do some musicians have severe facial expressions and physical movements, while others are so different? Here, Cicely Parnas and Marnie Laird show two different extremes. It's almost seems like that Cicely hates the music, given her expression and physical movement, while Marnie appears to love it all.
(1) Agitato - agitated, as in put into motion, or annoyed, upset, angry. If the latter is in the operatic song text - performed by the cello - then what do you expect? (2) Humans don't have a very good clock, rhythmic timing is impossible sitting still. Musicians use motion of their body and limbs as a substitute metronome to solve this problem. (3) The piece is played pretty fast, which raises the challenge bar. (4) Humans have to a sexist programming (or else they'd become extinct) that has a couple less functional aspects today: men walking around smiling are not taken seriously, women not smiling are called angry or having a resting bitch face.
Does that all add up?

I don't know what it is about this song, I had never heard it before until I happened to find your channel and it mesmerizes me. Marnie, you are an amazing pianist and I can only dream of being able to play like you again. I did in my youth and probably could have kept up with you back then, but now I've been away from the piano so long that I can only play vicariously through you! I adore your music, I have listened to most of it and it blows me away and is so beautiful and relaxing.
