Marnie's Bio:
Canadian pianist Marnie Laird, praised as "…a technically immaculate, probing and authoritative protagonist" (The Miami Herald), enjoys an active career as a collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and soloist. Prior to founding Brooklyn Duo and Brooklyn Classical, Marnie spent three years as principal pianist of the New World Symphony in Miami under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. In high demand as a pianist in New York City, she worked with several opera companies, including the Gotham Chamber Opera, and was also on staff as a collaborative pianist at The Juilliard School after graduating. Recent performances have taken her to Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Merkin Hall.
Originally from Vancouver, BC, Marnie has been the recipient of numerous Canadian awards, including top prizes from the Canadian Music Competitions, Canadian Music Teachers' Association, and the BC Arts Council. Most notably she was awarded the Gold Medal for the highest mark in Canada on the A.R.C.T. piano performance exams. She made her solo orchestral debut at age 13 with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and has participated in the Tanglewood, Music Academy of the West, Kneisel Hall, and Banff summer festivals.
Marnie received her Master’s degree in collaborative piano from The Juilliard School, where she was the recipient of a full scholarship as well as the Orchestral Piano Fellowship. She also has a Master’s in solo piano performance from The University of British Columbia. Her principal teachers include Lorraine Ambrose, Robin Wood, Jane Coop, Jonathan Feldman, and Margo Garrett.

Beautifully executed. I am always fascinated by the dialogues between the left and right hands in this piece. I have not heard it played so nicely in half a century and a decade when my mother was practicing. She played it often for us kids, and so i sort of have it memorized, but your performance is immaculate and clean.

AMAZING!! When I found your K.331, 1st Mvt, I was so impressed with the audio quality that I've listening to it non-stop for a couple of months. Now it's K.545 also one of my all-time Mozart's pieces. Can't wait to listen to the remaining movement of this one.

Mrs. Marnie, another perfect and lovely presentation of a great classical piece. I have watched your Fur Elise video several times while I have been trying to learn the song while an adult. I am not a trained piano player but enjoy tinkering as a hobby. Your Fur Elise has been the model of perfection and the standard to imitate for my money. This Mozart piece is delivered equally well and if I would ever learn this in my life, I am certain I would be listening to this very version several times as well. Thank you for another great display of piano virtuosity with measured passion. Looking forward to more from you.

Hermosa sonata , la tocaba cuando estudiaba piano a los 12 años . Es la famosa " sonata facile" escrita por Mozart para estudiantes , adelantado a su época en escribir sencillo como genio que era para ayudar a estudiar. Pasaron tantos años y todavía me acuerdo . Saludos

During one of my piano exams at the Music Conservatory in my hometown (Barranquilla, Colombia). one of the jurors chose this Sonate ( called “facile” …!!!) for me to play. Oh, my! I did well, though, as she confirmed at the end of my interpretation. Phewww….!!!! That juror was Miriam Pantoja de Rojas QEPD. Excellent teacher.
