@@gonzbry7272 It means that to play Mozart, you need to go gently, softly, caring for the bird almost more than you would care for yourself. To play Mozart you must acknowledge that tragic condition and surround it with the deepest joy it inspires you.
This is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful things my ears have ever experienced, No one has ever gotten this close to Mozart. I wish there were more words to describe how beautiful this is.
Fun fact: this isn't meant to be a slow piece. Playing it this slowly is just outright ignoring the sheet music and interjecting an interpretation that wasn't what Mozart intended. That's fine, but it also does a huge disservice to the composer. Slow middle movements in Sonatas wasn't as common as people believe and play them in modern times.
When I took piano lessons 60-odd years ago, this is how I heard this movement in my heart. Of course, I could never get to piano to sound like this. How wonderful that Ms. Uchida has!
I have never heard this piece played so beautifully. Uchida-san captures the essence of this piece. I would have my infant sleep to this it is so beautifully played. BRAVO!!!
A M A Z I N G !!!!!!!! Her music is heavenly! I am working on this 2nd movement for a competition in three months from now. I hope I can achieve at least 5-10 % of her style and graceful way of playing this Masterpiece of Mozart. That is why I watch this video about 5 times a day :)
@@vadymkozlovskyijr5063 I wanted to see who you were referring to but the account has been terminated by RUclips due to many copyrights violations. Do you know the name of the pianist?
Mozart has been my best friend since I was in my teens. I often listen to this movement when I want to hear the lovely voice of Mozart. Very few pianists can make me feel I’m hearing his voice, though technically this movement is so easy that even little children can play it. Mitsuko is one of the very few, like Gieseking, she makes me feel certain that Mozart is still the same, being my best friend.
I cannot add much to what John e. martin III had written--I agree with every word, but I do want to say one thing: The 2nd movement in many of Mozart's piano sonatas are slow, melancholic, and utterly beautiful. This cannot be a coincidence, don't you agree? Mitsuko Uchida captured Mozart's Inner Soul here, I feel. Thanks!!!
Mozart never dreamed this music could have so much depth. Uchida makes this music better than it is by sheer artistry .Her recordings decades ago of these sonatas show she has grown in maturity .I am dazzled that she made such simple almost children's music an utterance utterly communicative something about life and remembrance. Each note has life and is saying something the truly amazing thing is she can command all this tonal resource and in the moment subtlety in concert. Many mediocre artists make superlative recordings but here she is in encore playing with superhuman touch and sensitivity .Arrau ,Brendel ,Haskil .I've never heard Mozart played like this .
John e martin III is completely correct. This performance is amazing. I'd been playing the piece myself for sometime and I hadn't realised how beautiful it could be! Furthermore the CD recording by Schiff that I had been listening to is nothing compared to Uchida's performance.
She's a great performer, but I still find this song to inherently be better played closer to its indicated tempo than played as slowly as this. It loses the childlike joy of the piece for something more sorrowful.
La verdad la escucho casi todos los dias y siempre encuentro mas belleza en esa obra como la toca tan perfecto Mitsuko. me transporta y me relajo en esta pandemia
So much expressed in few notes, Mozart is a genious and Uchida also. Mozart would be proud of her. I am working on this piece and I think i am to 20% in that style as she plays.
this song makes me feel like walking over thin ice shivering cold lightly taking every step the ice beneath my feet cracking ever so slightly but not actually breaking through step... step... step... step...
Her touch is exquisitely beautiful&warm...that's the most thing I like of her performances, and as a pianist. Though I play the classical guitar, as a classical musician, I think she's got such antique&classical emotions and it allows her to play every single notes so well.. I became a big fan of her, anyway:)
Supposedly the easiest of all mozart sonatas, i am still learning to play it correctly, Never like Mitzuko. The accoustics are perfect , this video is a gift from heaven.
Alfred Cortot once said : "You know how to play Mozart? Did you ever hold a little bird in your hands? That's how we play Mozart."
What does that mean

this is simply one of his works you can't say that it encompasses all of Mozart's compositions

For me the beauty of Mozart shines through best in his slower, more lyrical movements, such as this one.

Perfect description of Mozart! If Beethoven rages against his wound, Mozart feels like healing it.

Mitsuko and Mozart are the perfect match.....!!!! Both wonderful....!
the only thing is Mozart is dead. Other than that yeah
Mozart composed this sonata to be played exactly like this. Perfection.
This is so super beautiful

No doubt about it... The absolute best performance of this masterpiece! Ever!!
Amazing, heartfelt, strikingly beautiful!!! Like a gentle breeze!!! Thank you Ms. Uchida for your heavenly charisma!!!
