I’m in grade 9 too and know how to drive. I drove my brothers 911 actually 😂. The car was so much fun. We went to a big empty parking lot, and the first thing I did was floor it on the straight in the parking lot and I totally scared my brother 😂. But the roar of the NA 3.4L engine in the 991 Carrera is like no other. I hope to own one myself someday. But for a first car, I’m really trying to get a first gen boxster!
This is a great video and they are under 5k but what you have to keep in mind is how big the engine is for example the bmw 325i has a 3.0L engine which is going to cost a crazy amount if you’re a student, you’d be spending all you money on keeping the car (the bigger the engine the bigger the insurance)
I found a 2013 Scion TC for $5,700. With 94k miles . Just needed a fix up on the bumper from a small finder bender and water pump replaced the pulley was making noises. Even with these issues it drove very well. And now it's perfect been driving everyday nearly, since I bought it in April last year.
My first car was a 2001 Subaru WRX with the 5 speed manual. It was a JDM import so it was RHD in a LHD country, great car 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a sporty car. Parts are relatively affordable and they don’t break all that often if you care for them.
Man I’m a 21 year old college student who STILL doesn’t have his own car. Feel like a lot of people might be in my position where you told yourself you’d worry about a car when finishing school, but now between the oil market, inflation, and dealership markups, that’s just not a possibility 😭😭
Maintenance on a car is the single easiest (and most neglected) aspect of buying a car. Find someone who is car savy and try to find something with low miles. If you have no credit history, plan on doubling your deposit if you don't want to fork out for the car wholesale. Going to a dealership will drive up price, but the larger organizations (mostly) have buyers laws in place to protect you, read up on them and understand your states rights and limitations. Otherwise, get the car title and insurance transferred as soon as possible. If you have no previous diving experience, you will be paying through the nose for insurance. It sucks but everyone who has ever had a car has dealt with it. Don't buy a brand new car unless you have the entire cash payment upfront. With depreciation, you loose a quarter to half of the resale value just driving off the lot. Truth be told (unless you're currently commuting from an area with high gas prices in a low wage job) EV's aren't the way to go unless you can guarantee moderate traffic, weather, and access to amenities. (Read up on car charging and the different limits) Likewise, EV ownership is currently tailored to those who own their own homes or who have an extremely accommodating landlord.

Okay so great video, the Mazda3 is an excellent choice, also the TSX is killer will last forever, the Scion tC while very reliable and has a awesome Pano roof does not have stability control , and they are not safe, in fact they have a propensity to roll over. A 2000 Honda Civic is a death trap, the Toyota Yaris is even more of a death trap. A 325i can be a good buy if you find a well taken care of one, a six-speed manual would be ideal. A Jetta 2006 through 2012 would be a great by especially the 2.5 l, pretty reliable some can have electrical Gremlins. RX300 is a smart buy, also an IS300, and ES 300, or an ES 330, or a GS300. Or for that matter a LS400. I also would add a Volvo S80, S60, or S40. Also a Saab 9-3, and if you're really cool a Volvo V70 wagon.
Actually there is one v8 car I recommend for a first thats definitely less than 5 grand, a crown victoria and honestly hey lots of them are retired cop cars, bullet proof motors, cheap to fix, extremely practical and roomy u could literally live in it, Its my beater car cause my vette is my toy
The TSX comes equipped with heated seats and electric powered seats. On top of that it has memory seating position. Feels like a newer car but mine is a 2006
I have the same on my 2005 tl, really appreciate those features. Only problem is my nav screen went black and I had to replace my auto tranny at 120k 😅
I have a Mazda 3 but it’s 2005, those things are so freaking great for customizing and I get to keep it even after I get a Miata! I’m a huge fan of Mazda now just because their cars are so easy to maintain and work on
Hey brad, love the videos, btw the video with the civics rolling is from srilanka, and unlike in the US in srilanka the civic is not so cheap, its about $12,000 for a 1992 and considering the income levels, its bloody expensive. But it is true that the common choice for many first time car buyers is a civic or a lancer and its the same over here. I'd suggest you do a list of the most expensive place to own cool cars. Good luck and keep up the great work. Love from Sri Lanka. ❤️❤️❤️
I didn’t get a car till my late 20’s. I was 29 years old on my 1st car. It was a 1998 Ford Contour SE. It was a little bit more for it at the time. My parents encouraged me to get it and even helped me on getting it.
I bought a 2017 Mazda 3 at 3.24% interest 1/2020 and it wasn’t under 5k. Even a neighbors 2011 Mazda 3 with 108,000 miles in 2022 was $7,995. I would change the end year to like 2010 for this video. Love my Mazda.
I'm about to buy a Camry for just under $5k. There was a Saab (favorite/fastest car I ever owned not being rich) and an Audi 2T available for about the same price but the Saab was a nightmare to find parts for (seriously it kills me that they're out of production) and I imagine Audis to be expensive to maintain as well.
My SAAB was totaled two weeks ago, that's why I'm in the market again. Yeah, every repair was expensive and it seemed to always have something wrong. Transmitting went out, rebuilt the CPU end of last year... In saying that I loved the car. Too bad some pill popper hit it while it was parked
Wow. I make $400K/yr and I'm watching this to figure out my next car. I currently drive a flood title saab 9-3 that's probably worth 1500 bucks. These cars are probably above my willingness price range. P.S. Owing an expensive car doesn't make you rich. Having people you love and care about in your life make you rich.
yall dont get a bmw unless you got a good paying job yeah cost 5k but itll cost you another 10 just tryna figure out how to turn off the check engine light
My first car was an 88 Chevy celebrity. Ran it for several months with no oil before it was stolen and totaled. For the past 3 years I’ve been an rx300 owner. My only complaints are it’s expensive to maintain (but it is a Lexus) and I can’t find a way to update the stereo system.
I got a Nissan Versa for way more than 5000, I wish I saw this video earlier. Maintenance is an issue though, it is going to cost me 1000+ if I manage to change all 4 tires, all 4 spark plugs, and clutch/flywheel at once. I do plan to save a bit more money for an aftermarket stage 2 clutch when the old one wears out, just for a crispier engagement and better durability, without making the pedal too heavy like stage 3 or 4.

Also a Saab 9-3, and if you're really cool a Volvo V70 wagon.
bro I was just about to search for a vid like this and then this shows on my homepage
Lol love your energy!
Heres a good student car: Mercedes Benz 190.
Its cheap, rwd and tunable
i dig!
What student can afford those repair bills?
Not reliable
@@andyleo8418 right

Actually there is one v8 car I recommend for a first thats definitely less than 5 grand, a crown victoria and honestly hey lots of them are retired cop cars, bullet proof motors, cheap to fix, extremely practical and roomy u could literally live in it, Its my beater car cause my vette is my toy
Young ppl don’t like them Bc it looks like a grandpa’s car
@@lilganja896 it doesn’t drive like one :)
idealcars: student cars. also idealcars: this 5 litre, uninsurable mustang is a good option since its cheap. make it make sense
My main focus is to buy a cheap car that's reliable and can last for years. You sir definitely helped. Thank you.
Almost got a tc but I ended up with a Mazda 6 sedan. Really nice first car it’s a alternative to the Mazda 3 with similar styling.
The most a Scion TC ever got was 200hp, and that was with the TRD supercharger...
1999-2004 Mustang GTs should be on here !! Best car for the value !!
Another good first car is the gen 1 ford focus. Cheap, reliable, handles well, is practical, gets great gas mileage and is pretty easy to find
watching this in 2023 be like: Best first cars for students under $15,000

fudge that, my kids getting a corolla for their first car
damn, tou livin that takumi fujiwara life
Ewww, my kids are getting whatever car I drove before I bought my next car.
Ae86?
If it’s an ae86 at least they can probably drift in that car without too many enhancements to it 😂
It looks like your kids are delivering tofu.
I have a Mazda 3 but it’s 2005, those things are so freaking great for customizing and I get to keep it even after I get a Miata! I’m a huge fan of Mazda now just because their cars are so easy to maintain and work on
Bro you're vid just makes me 10 times excited to save up more and buy my new first car
I thank my recommendation for this you best know imma be looking fly when I turn 16 I also subscribed and turned on post notifications 👍🏼
Thanks for subbing!
Not to mention now we got an import ban, hyperinflation, economic crisis and a civil unrest just this week
and now it's even more expensive with the presidental family messing us up

@Thomas Borisov cool i could use 15k
infotainment is a huge deal! ok i'll look into this for ya :)

I didn’t get a car till my late 20’s. I was 29 years old on my 1st car. It was a 1998 Ford Contour SE. It was a little bit more for it at the time. My parents encouraged me to get it and even helped me on getting it.
I got my 2006 325i e90 for 4000$ and nothings wrong with her at all and I don’t have much mileage on the engine as well 😎
I can’t wait to get my first car hopefully time will go fast
Good timing, I’m looking into what cars I should get once I graduate lmao thanks
Hey Brad,
Can u make a video on gas efficient fast cars under 15k?
Bro which country do you live in

just picked up ny first car; a 2017 q50 redsport 400 for 15k and 85 miles. super excited
My brother used to have a Scion Tc and it was 8000 but i was almost brand new and looks like a sports car too
I got my Mazda 3 for 3k in perfect condition baby.
Good luck finding a civic si em1 stock.
Edit:They’re impossible to find
My dad had a Yaris I must say it’s a very decent car , til he hit a deer lol
Sick vid man
I bought a 2017 Mazda 3 at 3.24% interest 1/2020 and it wasn’t under 5k.
Remember to factor in repair costs! A foreign car is nice but those repair costs in highschool will make you faint 😂
If he/she is a suburban kid though, their parents will probably pay the maintenance bills until they’re through college lmao
@@notoriousmaddox4105 never had that luxury 😂
Wow. I make $400K/yr and I'm watching this to figure out my next car. I currently drive a flood title saab 9-3 that's probably worth 1500 bucks. These cars are probably above my willingness price range.
P.S. Owing an expensive car doesn't make you rich. Having people you love and care about in your life make you rich.
dayum, what do you do for a living
What do you do to make so much?

Ok wait, I was hoping for first time sports cars so yeah can you do cheap sports cars under 2.0 litres for engine
Got my Scion tC 2006 for 2K with 104 k miles 🤙🏽
Saw someone at school having fun with there Rx during soccer practice pretty cool car
i have seen a bmw x1 m a few years back for like 30k and low mileage like 10k miles
My first car was an 88 Chevy celebrity. Ran it for several months with no oil before it was stolen and totaled. For the past 3 years I’ve been an rx300 owner. My only complaints are it’s expensive to maintain (but it is a Lexus) and I can’t find a way to update the stereo system.

i’m gonna get an accord from 2008-2015 because they used to put a v6 in those a little bit more expensive but it’s soooo worth it
I got a Nissan Versa for way more than 5000, I wish I saw this video earlier.
