I flipped my first car in 2017 and made $3000 profit. It was like winning a scratch off ticket and I enjoyed restoring it before selling it so I've been flipping and rebuilding cars ever since. The planet needs more guys like this. Simply awesome! Bringing value - to himself, to the previous owner, to the next owner for sure, and to us by explaining everything in detail and by showing how it's done! Respect sir!
What value did he bring to the previous owner or the next? He is flipping cars - he has to put in the work and $$$ on top of purchase price and hope someone else buys it later for an inflated price. If you don't know how to work on cars then you will be paying a premium for a mechanic to fix issues and with the german cars they will ream you. Depending on where you are if you sell more than 5 cars per year you will have to register as a business which is also an added cost. You also don't want to use bondo on rims - that is a cheap and dirty fix.
@@corail53 I suppose previous owner was happy to finally sell the car. And I'm pretty sure the next owner was happy to buy the car in good condition. If that's not value to you, most probably you haven't seen examples of how other car flippers operate.

Don’t forget to account for registration sales tax and titling the car. Laws vary state to state, but where I live you have 14 days to do so otherwise you get fined. When you register the car you have to pay sales tax so for this vehicle that would be an extra $1250 where I live. Plus registration fees, for this vehicle probably another $150. Then you can only do I think four per year without having a dealers license. Fun side hustle, but difficult to make a living at.

In a lot of these older BMWs, especially the E36 vintage, as seen here, parts of the interior pieces and upholstery were actually held together by glue, which, naturally, deteriorates. In a state like FL where the climate accelerates the contraction and expansion factor, I'm sure it is even more so prevalent on these older examples.

Great work and content, enjoy all your work. I owned a 97 M3 myself, not surprised you wanted to keep it. Had the issue with the glove box. Word of advice, swap out the zip tie you used and make the fastener part connect on the back side (inside the dash) so it’s not exposed in the glove box. You will eventually cut/scratch your hand on the exposed part where you cut it, reaching into the glove box. Use a black one and you’ll never even notice it’s there! Enjoy the M3!
I rarely comment on videos, but I really love these flip videos. Not something I'll ever do myself but I just love seeing mechanical work. PS I really hope in the future you and ChrisFix can do a video together.
Nice make-over! Most of those issues are pretty common on E36, just make sure to keep an eye on the cooling system, since there are a few common weak points (plastic radiator ends, plastic t-stat housing, plastic water pump impeller, brittle expansion tank). Fortunately, E36 is designed with service in mind and are very easy to work on and maintain.
the E36 and in lesser form the E46 are probably the easiest to fix due to the lack of overly complicated electronics. Well...as long as you choose the cheap, unwanted US spec version.
@@TheChill001 Electronics are one thing. I actually find OBD2 stuff easier to work on because scan tools allow you to glimpse into what the computers are seeing and diagnose issues that way. That said, the OBD1 can have a lot more issues going on and still operate as a functioning automobile. I was more or less referring to the physical layout of things however. Most of the suspension became way more complicated in the F series and up, and the engine bays are just layers upon layers of plastic pieces that have to be removed with surgical precision in exactly the right order or its gonna cost you a few hundred for new plastic bits. E series chassis, was not only designed for factory assembly, but my impression is it was also designed for modular and piece by piece servicing. Every nut and bolt is placed in a way where it can be accessed with basic hand tools, and nearly any part can be removed without disassembly of 1/3 of the vehicle.
Super fun and detailed watch, and I just learned more about these glove boxes! The only thing I'd say to do differently is replacing all old tint, regardless of delamination or physical defect - you can still see the color difference from the drivers door with fresh tint to the rear quarters with blueish tint. Tint usually has a 5-10 yr lifespan and the dyes will fade and change color, and clarity will get worse, rendering "matching" not so possible. The other cheap option would just be complete removal, but Florida and UV rays on your nice interior and skin... yeah I prefer tint, even if light. Glad I found this, rad work!
I absolutely love these videos. Straight to the point, super informative, well edited and an absolute joy to watch. Thanks for all the info you've provided for free, you deserve at least a million more subs if you ask me! Also I guess I'm that lone idiot who still looks for used cars on his computer lol

Hey Buddy I love these videos and how thorough and honest you are about the car flipping process. But you’ve never spoken about the DMV process regarding transfer of title and taxes/fees paid for buying these cars. This is a very important of this process isn’t it? I’d love to hear your advice on this as well
That was my same question. It probably varies state to state, but in Washington state you have 15 days to register the car or you start getting fined. At which point you have to pay sales tax on it, which if your intent is to turn around and flip it, you just lost 10% of the profits right there. In other words registering this BMW would cost $1250 in Washington state, before you could sell it.
I tried this buddy and I totally got screwed spent $6,000 on a GMC Sierra 4 wheel drive thought I could flip it come to find out the guy I bought it from filled the entire frame up with fillafoam cans that foam stuff that hardens pretty quickly and then he painted it or Rusty color so when I checked the frame it looked absolutely fine until I started getting some work done to it and then I found out I got screwed I lost thousands of dollars so so pissed off.
I did I did a thorough inspection on it three times the guy was really smart at what he did he filled the entire frame up with fillafoam and then painted it like a rusty color the mechanical shop that told me this said this guy took a lot of time and energy and money to make it look perfect so he could get rid of it they almost didn't see it themselves and these are professionals
And I don't buy my vehicles at a s*** box dealer I buy them private sale this other vehicle I bought I bought it in a state that had no lemon law and I had no idea the state didn't have that so from now on I will not be buying any vehicles from that state be buying my vehicles from Massachusetts from now on where there's a 30-day lemon law if I would have bought that vehicle there I could have sued that son of a b****
Great video! Do you have to pay sales tax on your purchase? (In Michigan I would have to pay 6%). Would you rec having a hoist to lift the car for brake, exhaust or any other under the car work ?

Most of those issues are pretty common on E36, just make sure to keep an eye on the cooling system, since there are a few common weak points (plastic radiator ends, plastic t-stat housing, plastic water pump impeller, brittle expansion tank). Fortunately, E36 is designed with service in mind and are very easy to work on and maintain.
Where's car auctions?
the E36 and in lesser form the E46 are probably the easiest to fix due to the lack of overly complicated electronics.
I love this series, your tips are awesome!
Great restoration effort. I can see why you decided to keep the car. A salute.
Missed the flipping series keep it up 🔥💯
I absolutely love these videos. Straight to the point, super informative, well edited and an absolute joy to watch. Thanks for all the info you've provided for free, you deserve at least a million more subs if you ask me! Also I guess I'm that lone idiot who still looks for used cars on his computer lol
These videos are addicting 😁
Keep going Buddy! Great example for your generation of how a hard working, young entreprenuer guy is doing awesome.
Do u not include the price of transferring title or did u not have to do tht cause if u transferred title at 12,500 it would cost like 750
Love your videos and motivation!!
I’m trying to do that for living too!!
I’m at my 6th car right now 🙏
i know nothing about repairing or flipping cars so i watched this to get the idea of how much money circulates from it, this video explained everything i was curious about! top of the line content
There’s a limit on how many cars you can buy and sell without being a dealer as well. In Washington state I think it’s maybe four or five a year.
The person who saw the listing and later searching for it .. 👁👄👁
I tried this buddy and I totally got screwed spent $6,000 on a GMC Sierra 4 wheel drive thought I could flip it come to find out the guy I bought it from filled the entire frame up with fillafoam cans that foam stuff that hardens pretty quickly and then he painted it or Rusty color so when I checked the frame it looked absolutely fine until I started getting some work done to it and then I found out I got screwed I lost thousands of dollars so so pissed off.
lmao
Well it’s clearly your fault though, should’ve properly inspect it first
That’s the business. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Don’t play the game if you can’t afford it. Just buy a car at a dealer
M3 are just every car enthusiast weak spot, nice video😊
Great video! Do you have to pay sales tax on your purchase? (In Michigan I would have to pay 6%). Would you rec having a hoist to lift the car for brake, exhaust or any other under the car work ?
I'm so happy I made productive decisions about my finances that changed my life forever hoping to retire next year... Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life.
@Amy Campbell little, not at all. After carefully watching my portfolio's performance, which has generated a staggering $473k in only the last two quarters, I now understand how experienced traders can generate such high returns from a market that to novices appears to provide little opportunity for profit. I have to admit that this was my most boldest decision/choice in recent times.
@@loretagurakuqi6950 In fact, I've been researching advisors lately because the market news I've been seeing hasn't been that positive. Who is directing you, exactly?

is no one gonna mention that he washed the paintwork with a broom ?
I seen them do that at auto dealerships.
He's going to sell it. He probably doesn't care.
Nope he's keeping it🤦🏿♂️. Okay okay okay.... no one is perfect. He's knows more than me, so I'm not judging.
It’s not a broom
It’s a soft bristle to cover large amounts of space on a car so you don’t waste time painfully doing it by hand
Also when you push a button it releases more shampoo and soap.
When the broom like thing it's correct used and not abused and clean it doesn't do scratches and sh*t like that
you nailed it right, from start to finish with all valuable tips, without make it long, just the useful points, right in the middle ...Thanks a lot man keep going you're the best really.

Flipping old cars has always been my dream. Thanks for making these videos 👍
I grew up in the car business. As my dad used to say "this ain't a museum". With the right buyer, I think you could bring rain with that BMW. I would love to see an update when you finally do sell it.
I have a 99 m3. I paid the same as you 12.5. I just picked up the hard top for it. They truly are fun cars to drive.
Love the editing style man. you put a lot of effort into the quality of work. both video and elbow grease. We all thank you for being alive.
