    its true, he was a pitcher of "almosts". They won in 2000 and 2009, and he was there 2001-2008. and they should've won in 01, 04, and reached WS in 03. he had several extremely close bids to no hitters or perfect games, maybe down to last pitch. could've been a 300 winner. 3,000 strikeouts with just a bit more. he almost missed HOF too, but got it. that seals his status as a legend of the game. so maybe it doesn't matter some of the stats , WS or no hitters he missed. He can say he's a Hall of Famer, there's no higher honor. many guys have WS and no hitters, and were nowhere near as good as him. just being in the right place at the right time.

    • @masternachos
      @masternachos 5 лет назад

      First, it's not a committee. The committee elects non-players and players who have been retired more than 20 seasons. Second, Coors Field does inflate offense, especially back before they introduced the humidor.
      Now, let's say you have two players, both first basemen. One hit .345/.441/.607 with 454 home runs, 1718 RBI [23rd all time], 642 doubles [11th all time], 1748 runs scored [24th all time], and 2788 hits. The other hit .287/.386/.469, with 284 HR, 1094 RBI, 542 doubles, 1054 runs scored, and 2250 hits. The first guy is an obvious Hall of Famer, no? While the second... not so much.
      Well, they're both Todd Helton. The first is what his career would look like if he played every game at Coors Field, the second is what his career would look like if he never played Coors Field. When a guy is Lou Gehrig at home but Paul O'Neill on the road, it's going to make you question his HOF worthiness.

    This guy makes it, but Ron Guidry doesn’t? BS, and that’s from a life long Red Sox fan.

    I never saw mike mussina as a baseball hall of famer.
    Honestly how can any baseball fan be ok with this the baseball hall of fame getting worse and worse.

      Baseball fans can be ok with it if they actually know who's in the HoF and can look at things other than your personal gut feelings as to whether or not a guy was a HOFer.
