I saw Mauer's whole career. From when he made his debut when I was 8 to when he retired when I was 23. One of my all time favorites. I still get teary eyed watching his final game. We love you Joe!

After Puckett Joe was the second reason why i love the twins! and after Edgar Joe has the second most Pure swing in baseball! i just loved watching him play! sadly i could only watch him a few times living in the New England area but soon learned that Mauer... was a nightmare....great player and a Minnesota icon!

One can only dream of having something like this said about them. Im a lifetime NY Mets fan but Joe Mauer made the Twins my American league team. Somewhere Mickey Mantle is smiling as he approves of you wearing that iconic #7. The sweetest swing..

@@janellemaynaitI completely disagree. Especially considering how many people refuse to vote for first ballot players. First ballot hall of farmers are considered the best of the best.

      0-10 in playoff games.
I’m glad he’s in the HOF. But Minnesota deserves chips. And a star who can bring one is always better than one who didn’t, even if he’s from my hometown.
That’s why I like Puckett more than Mauer and always will. Chips mean the world.
      But happy for Mauer.

ONE career playoff RBI…. He was a good singles hitter with no slugging. He also spent half of his career playing as a well below average 1st baseman but one of the highest paid players in the league.
Kirby Puckett was a TRUE Minnesota legend, leading his team to two WS victories. Joe dwindled to nothing in the postseason.

If you’re a Minnesotan, shame on you. Instead of enjoying his greatness, you’re undermining it. I promise you, no matter how many times you comment “he never performed in the playoffs” you won’t convince anyone he’s not HOF worthy. If you talked to any player that played against him, they would agree he’s more than deserving of the HOF. Stop being an old fogey

Only catcher with 3 batting titles UNHEARD OF probably will never happen again, hit .365 for his MVP season which is absolutely unheard of at the catcher position, 3 time gold glove winner, 5x silver slugger, an absolute machine when it came to getting in base.
He only appeared in 10 playoff games that’s due to the team and management around him.
Kirby may have the better post season resume, but Joe Mauer skill wise is the greatest hitting catcher of this modern era. And you make make a case he’s the greatest catcher of all time all around hitting and catching combined. Him and Posey as all around players are right there together, Buster will be a first ballot as well I’m sure.
