    It's a crime that Derek Jeter wasn't voted in unanimously. I'm not a Yankees fan but I always LOVED him, and I'm thankful that I got to see him play so much.

      Honestly Jeter wasn't very fan friendly at all. Been to more games he's played in than i can count and he loved the ladies way more than the kids. Still he was the heart of the team and a consumate professional. Don Mattingly will always be my favorite Yankee. (And belongs in the Hall if Puckett is in with lesser stats)

    My favorite all-time player and all-time Yankee. This guy was nothing but class from the beginning to the ending of his career. He was one of the best of all time for the game of baseball. I miss him so much and I'm glad to see him get into the HOF. Derek "The Captain" Jeter much respect to you. GO YANKEES and RE2PECT👏👏👏💪.

      class is not needed to play or be great at baseball! Class requires the imagination of the person perceiving it and unless you know Derek personally you don't know if he is really " classy", or not. His performance was great enough and that's all us fans can know. No need to make up stuff!

    I NEVER EVER thought I would love a yankee player, and as a 50 year+ fan of the miserable Mets, it wasn't easy, but DJ is, was and has always been THE EPITOME of a REAL ballplayer! Much respect!

      It was really all those starting pitchers they bought, that got them to the playoffs. Jeter and Mariano were stellar in the postseason, but those great teams needed a whole lot more than a shortstop and closer.

    Jeter you was a role model to us kids growing up in the Bronx a place with very little role models and very little people to look up to . But you gave us hope and that us Bronx kids can make it anywhere. Thank you for inspiring me my siblings and all of the kids growing up watching you play and making the Bronx the home of baseball YANKEES RULE ! 🙌

      Imagine not understanding that Jeter stats are mostly average with a few above average and that he was a successful PR program by the yankees and thats a huge part of it. If dimaggio, mantle, mays, williams, didn’t get 100% of the vote, why do you think Jeter would or deserved it more than the guys I mentioned?

    Jeter deserved to be in the hall of Fame. He was a great player which so many good plays. He would do anything to win. He was always a hard worker. And off the field he was a great person. A role model that people looked up. Congrats to the captain! Well deserved!

    Been a Sox fan all my life. When I first got into baseball and would watch it with my dad, Derek Jeter was always a name I would recognize and respect. I was lucky to be able to watch his whole career and even though I hate the Yankees I couldn't help but root for individuals. And he was one of them. Him and Mariano were some of the classiest players I've ever watched and I'm happy to see them become Hall of Famers. From a Sox fan, congratulations.

      They both eerily had similar careers. 5 rings each, 20 year careers, playing for a the biggest franchise in their respective sports, the way they spoke was all with class and they played was the same. I wonder if MJ thinks that too and hears Kobe in Jeter.

      They will never really know. Jordan gets the same treatment. Its just the passing of the guard I guess. We just got lucky to watch great people be great athletes. Alot of the best athletes these days you would never let your kids around them. Integrity and class are a rare commodity these days in sports.

    In February 2021 my father was diagnosed with Cancer and in my final conversations with him, One of the questions I asked was “Dad would you like to go see Derek Jeter be inducted in the Hall of Fame In July?” His reply was “Will see!” We never made it, he passed away in March 2021 and I sit here today on my birthday wishing I attended for him. But I couldn’t do it without him and I couldn’t afford the steep incline in price. One I’ll never check of my bucket list. Great speech Derek and thank you for all the memories.

      As he got older mixed with injuries, he lost a lot of that speed
      There was a point when Jeter had pretty good speed

    When both, Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing, are at your hall of fame ceremony, you know you’re a great. Derek Jeter is an absolute legend of all American sports. So glad I was able to watch this man play.

    My dream is to play in the MLB as a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. Not a day goes by that I don’t love to play this game. I love to use this game as a way to bond with my dad when we throw every day and talk about life. I wanna make it for my dad because he dreamed of becoming a pitcher but had to give up on it due to life taking it away from him and never getting a chance at it. I wanna make him proud and Idc if I make it to the hall of fame or not. Derek Jeter was a beast and is still a beast at baseball. I may have never been a Yankees fan but this man have heart. And I hope to have the same heart as he did each and every day to play this game.

      @@bigplaystanly No. it mantle, DiMaggio, griffey jr. were not 100% of the vote, no way Jeter was. The guy was a great player, but he was mostly average stat wise, with a few numbers above average. He was a brand name and the Yankees did a great PR job to make him the face of the yankees and thats why really why he was votes in.

    To people saying he was not good defensively, show me the video of all this bad defensive play. I dont want to hear about some metric, I want to see the tape of him unable to field a ball he should have or that most other SS would have been able to do, of him unable to throw out a runner that he should have or other SS would have, of him unable to cover enough ground to get a ball that other SS would have. Simply show me the tape...lets keep it a under 35yo Jeter as well. Being so bad defensively, there should be trove of these videos out there. I would just like to see the evidence with my own eyes and not just a metric.

    Derek jeter might not have been a homerun hitter but he was definitely mr. October the clutch player. Always there for a clutch double play, clutch hitter when on the game was on the line, the best short stopper in the game when he had to make slide catches to make one of those outs. Derek jeter the best in the PEDS Era.

    1:47 I love the shade that Derek threw at the one person who didn't vote for him lol. With what he's done both on and off the field, he definitely deserves this honor. A lot of his speech is actually him honoring all the other HOFers. Whether Derek had been planning that speech for months or only recently started working on it, it was a fantastic one!

    Derek Jeter. Congrats on your Hall of Fame induction. His docu-series "The Captain" is MUST SEE TV for any Yankee fan. It's so good. Loved reliving those great Yankees championship teams in the 90's, 2000 and 2009.

    Jeter and Mo were my sports heroes growing up! I would watch as many Yankees games as I could. Staying awake late on school nights sometimes. I miss watching my childhood Yankees team. Still love em but it's not the same. Congrats, Captain. Well deserved!

    Im sure glad I had DJ to look up to as a kid growing up. Even decades later as an adult playing ball I still hold on to the way he played the game. I would remind myself to always hustle and play the game the right way. You never know who's watching!
