Coming to this from My Immortal, you really have to appreciate the duality of girls and boys fan-fiction. While one delves into make-up, clothes, relationships and bands...the other really tackles serious issues like gay(?) itchy balls and hot anger shits that smell so bad the entire neighborhood comes together to set up fans to divert the scent.
Ah yes, the two genders: gratuitous outfit descriptions, and hot angry shits.
Plot twist: the person who wrote My Immortal is male, and Sonic High was written by a high school girl.

This story was published between may and august of 2012. In one of the authors notes, DarkDoomFireMaster (our scholar and hero) mentions that it’s summer and he’s ready for 8th grade. I love how the writer added the subtlety of making Sonic a person who goes for looks and not what is inside a person for a love interest. In addition, the repeated use of dull vocabulary, such as ‘said’ and the abbreviations ‘we’re’ and ‘it’s’ serve to highlight the monotony of school and the lifelessness that students undoubtedly will one day succumb to. On top of this, the tedious, unnecessary descriptor ‘Sonic was also at school’ could reflect how utterly pointless school must feel to these poor individuals.
The writer’s craft is no doubt genius, and one that acts as a cautionary tale regarding the institutions of education that have become so commonplace and mandatory in the modern world.
