you are not going insane, yet. I had to reupload this video from last night due to an age restriction. Sorry if you already watched the video, I was bad and youtube punished me...
proofs that games should always allow player hosted servers … so even if a game no longer has a massive gamerbase there will always at least be a server from the die hard players that loved that game.
I don’t know why but the Day of Infamy part made me sad in a strange way. Adam and his small group, satisfied for close to 5000 hours in a lonely and empty game. But to me it’s bittersweet since they are still happy.

i played a dead mmo for over a year and it was probably one of best year in gaming... there was like 50 people playing and everyone knew everyone.. sadly they closed the games server.
The part in Day of Infamy. I've recently become more acutely aware of my fears of being "left behind" or forgotten and abandoned in a sense. Adam and his group of 5000hr friends really soothed my fears for whatever reason, like I wouldn't be completely alone. Too sappy. Build That wall was a really good music choice!
I used to play Day of Infamy till I stopped like a yeae after release due to other games I'm trying to grind. it's honestly really fun if you ever experienced a full game or coop where you get bombarded as the germs with a machine gun nest. I reinstalled the game like 4 years ago, it was still popping off but I did notice a decline in player count in the server, I wish I stuck with playing these games than grinding 9-5 simulators. Another game that had interesting gameplay is Verdun which was sadly on decline when I last played it as only 3-4 people and only bots were on
Day of infamy part made me tear up. I played this game almost every day from 2017 to 2019. This is one of those unique games : good gameplay, almost historical acurrate to ww2 ( i remember some weapons and units are only available on certain maps) and you dont feel the time pass as you play . A lot of good memories, still hoping to see a DOI 2 or at least a mod for Insurgency Sandstorm ( but i know its just a dream at this point )
@@karlimo4034 After getting a job and with actual state of the game at this point, i lost the excitement to play. But, once in a while, i come back for a few rounds against bots just for fun

I used to see Adam sometimes on coop but I just grew bored of this game and stopped playing nwi is only focused on insurgency sandstorm now I think their last update was adding some map in Austria I think. I am thinking about revisiting this game whenever i hear people talk about it

I'm 31. I was just a kid and my dad built me a pc so I could play the original Day Of Defeat before source with him. Steam was still army green. Day of defeat holds a really special place in my heart.
DoD was the shit back then, had a great community around it, even years after it's prime, a lot of guys of 40/50yo still played it, even some women which was rare especially on these old school niche FPS.
I rarely comment on videos but this one touched my heart, the Day of Infamy gameplay reminded me of a time when myself and a good friend played it for hours having a blast every time. It made me sad knowing that we'll never have that experience again as he passed away not long ago. But thanks for reviving those excellent memories.🙂

After getting heavily into Day of Infamy earlier this year and seeing Adam doing his magic in game. It’s amazing to see him get recognized. Thanks for the video and for anyone thinking of getting into DOI there is still a fairly active PVE scene with full 8 player servers almost all of the week.
Day of Infamy surely was 10/10 game back in the days. So glad I had an opportunity to witness the golden era of it. Sadly developers didn't gave too much attention, since the game was "in-between" project to test new mechanics and gameplay for upcoming bigger title - Insurgency: Sandstrom. Making it free to play may save the day but on the other side, this will probably raise a cheating problem and make the game not enjoyable and unplayable anyways. Too bad that such a great game had to go such a bad way, always happens to the best of us I guess.
I also had the opportunity to play it in its high time. It was mega fun, what with it being basically WW2 Insurgency. It wasn't exactly a waste of money when i bought it, but I really wished it could've been as famous as Insurgency itself.
War of Rights is FAR from a dead game. It's just a very community driven one where community events and groups are where most of the active player base ends up. There are actually probably somewhere around 2000+ active players and it always gets big flood of new players during the steam sales. It also is continously updating and being developed. It's really just that since its appeal comes in from stuff like realism, organization, and immersion, it's hard for random groups of public players to keep it afloat, so it kind of relies on having a strong dedicated community of organized groups. Why don't you join one the Ghosts of Antietam nights, contact the Union V corp, we can get you set up.
I played last night and it was a FULL lobby! In fact I think I queued! There were other lobbies with numerous players in! It’s far from dead! Fantastic game!
@@kopsonniewiem7775you are definitely talking about day of infamy not day of defeat. and no it wasnt a reskin, i had 500 hours in OG insurgency and 400 in DoI before it died and I do prefer day of infamy by a large margin. it was so well made, aint gonna get a ww2 fps game like thsi ever again sadlu
The day of Infamy made me a bit sad. I used to play it years ago but I had no idea the player count had dropped so much. It seemed pretty healthy when I played it last in 2019, we had plenty of servers where both teams were completely filled with real people. The D-day map was always super hard if you were on the Allies. Weird how time flies.
The last game is a wholesome story and a good case for why devs should add bots to their game whenever possible, by including bots you allow this small group of players to play their game whenever they want to even after the gaming world has moved on and gives them the freedom to choose between coop against the ai or split the real players amongst the teams depending on how they want to play that day. For example the work from home guy can easily pop onto the game during his lunch break for a round or 2 even if nobody else is on the game to play with him.
My brother and/or my cousin used to do this with CoD games. We fill the multiplayer with bots and usually go through the modes to see how much we won out of em. We would filled em 3 bots and us so it'll be 4 v 4 squads. Double health and respawn delay by 5 sec. Sometimes we would be on the same team and the opposite is full of bots on veteran difficulty to see how much we can take out via time limit or lives. If they ran out then we tally or one of us runs out of lives, the other wins. You get the idea. I wish online CoD did the same for bots.
@@thedarkspirit5084I was the kind of kid that was prestige 3 in Cod MW2 Co-op….not online…but local co-op (since there was separate ranks for MP and local back in those old games). Some of it was from gaming with my cousins and having trick shot battles…but over 2 prestige worth of levels was from me hooking up my second controller and trying to collect all of the call signs to impressive my cousins.
Dystopia was a groundbreaking mod for its time and some elements of gameplay are criminally underused in other shooters. Those terminals that you had no idea how to use are used with a cyberdeck implant, that basically teleports you into cyberspace, which is an entirely different map with fast movement, changing gravity, breaking through enemy defensive software with your own programs and fighting enemy deckers, all to make way for your team in real space by opening doors, disabling turrets and hacking objectives. Having a good decker on your team and protecting them was key to success. It had 3 classes, each with their completely unique weapons, like Tesla gun, which shot balls of lightning on a leash, which you could sling around corners if you were good. And on top of that, implants that changed a lot in gameplay, by allowing you to scan for enemies, see their footsteps through walls, have optical camouflage, thermal vision, boosted jumping and sprinting. Each map also had its own unique set of objectives, Enemy Territory style. It's a real shame Dystopia 2 can't get off the ground.
Thanks for saying this I played Dystopia a couple months ago and kinda checked up on it every couple years. Never seen another soul so never got to play
Man I feel the same about BF Bad Company 2, made so many memories playing the Vietnam DLC with friends, and when I heard EA is shutting the servers soon, I had a feeling to see if we can play it one last time. There was a server with like 6 players which grew to around 20 and we had a fun game, just like 10 years ago. Good times 😢
We defenetly need another episode of this. The communitys of games like this are always so wholesome. I love to play games like this. Fist full of frags, world war 2 online, battlegrounds 3, battle field heros fan servers, soccer online, thos games are so fun , just because of the people playing.
There's a lot of other content makers that have been doing this idea for awhile. So there's a lot of good videos out there. In a good way. Its great to show these games and their communities.
I have like 500 hours on Fistful if you include the mod version. It was once an amazing game, and its gunplay was so unique and deliberate unlike anything else on the market. The sole developer though is somewhere between a crybaby and an egomaniac. He CONSTANTLY tweaks the maps, weapons, and core mechanics, even when they don't need fixing. The tiny pro circuit begged him "PLEASE stop screwing with the weapons, the game's in a great spot" and he always went "piss off it's MY game." Could have undoubtedly had a bigger player count if he was more receptive. The last iteration of the weapon sandbox before he added Shootout economy was my favorite.
Couldn't agree more. I loved this game around 2012. Used to play it with my housemates. Then the newer versions came out and it felt like a completely different game to me. Still have nostalgia for those old days. @@TaRAAASHBAGS
Blackhawk Down should be on your list. My friends and I spent countless hours in college playing this game online. It had such a great community. Man do I miss it. Just isn't the same anymore.
@@ajitadonismanilal9105 I actually got invited to the closed alpha of Hawken and the closed beta of MWO on the same weekend. While I was out of town visiting my grandparents
I loved OG Hawken, I remember the titan figting. I couldn't afford titanfall back then so I played this. I honestly loved it. It always felt immersive. Such a shame to let it drop so much.
Man, those guys with 5k hours really hits home with one of my favorite games. I quickplay frequently and see the same handful of guys playing, so we always greet one another.
Once I heard hurtworld come up my heart sank a little bit. I used to host a dedicated server practically fully through legacy and strongly into V1. But now it's mostly down and I randomly put it up for a month or so.
War Of Rights isnt dead if you join a regiment that have regular events weekly. You can have multiple servers full at a time with up to 300 people in a server. its a great game
I never played War of Rights, but I did play its predecessor: Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars’ Civil War mod. You’d never know it trying to join a random server, but it had a thriving regimental scene, and this was still a few years after its heyday. Every week there was a large, 200 player battle with organized lines in teamspeak servers.
its dead in the early mornings of america but theres at least several events that go on each and every day. The community is small but its in the thousands and not dead in the slightest.@@ericcartman5454
War of Rights is so good, as someone who lives just a stone's throw away from a Civil War battlefield, it's so cool to play what is the most accurate Civil War experience you can get in any game. Also that Day of Infamy part made me just depressed, I remember when it came out and I was so excited to play it after falling in love with Insurgency. I haven't played in years, but to see it so empty does make me sad.
What are you talking about? War of Rights is still very active. You just have to play when everyone else is. Try logging on Wednesday and Friday evenings.
Here is the German translated (starting 2:14) Teufel (Player) is crouching close to the bridge, watch out! Omg! Inferno (Player)… INFERNO! This is still part of the spawn, go out! Teufel (Player) is across from the bridge again, watch out! In the middle is the Rocket, dear gentlemen! You shot your own man - what's wrong with you? I didn't kill anybody. (?) is on the left of the bridge on our side under the tree. Do you think I'm blind or what? Chill out. Maybe not killed but a few hits. I saw it too. (Excellent pronunciation btw :D)
Watching the Dystopia footage, it reminded me of how my friend showed me Half Life 1 LAN (not the standalone Deathmatch, so all the servers were dead). We would play for hours, then when I went home, I would boot it up again and just walk around the maps. It was so surreal, but such a strong memory from my childhood. I must have spent around 50 hours just wandering around maps alone.
Reminds me of a week or two I spent grinding multiplayer on Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood (Xbox 360) in around 2011. Barely any servers and mostly empty but each match turned into de facto Hide and Seek. So much more compelling than something with 3 kills/deaths a minute. Really drew me in.

Man, DoD:S, and Dystopia really hit me. I played a lot of original day of defeat with my childhood friends and jumped right into source when it came out. Dystopia was bought shortly after.
Watching you play Day of Infamy gave me so much nostalgia, i used to play it a ton when i was younger and had an absolute blast on it every single time i did, i miss to dearly.
Hey Rye, thanks for making this video. I got to relive some of my younger days watching you go into Day of Defeat and Day of Infamy. It's a bitter sweet feeling looking at those games now, times have changed, people have gone but I'm glad people still play and enjoy them. You earned yourself a sub.
You playing with the guys on infamy was pretty wholesome. Watching this vid made me take a minute to go back and see if people still play C&C Renegade and it even still has servers lol.
Would love to see Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. Game is super fun and feels like the perfect balance between realism and fast paced action. Although it never really took off, and now they are closing down the studio. Its a real shame
Yeah, him calling it a 'really' old game when it's not even been a decade was a bit jarring, but so was seeing its corpse reanimated into a disastrous third-person mess. That game was so fun for the... three weeks that it had more than 20 people playing it.
Dystopia to me is the greatest FPS game ever made. It's so unique and has so many options for different playstyles. It's so sad that it never got super popular and lately the company behind it was shutdown as well. I think they were developing a kind of a successor to dystopia as well. There still should be some people playing during weekends if you hit the servers at the right time, definitely should try it out with more people!
Pirates Vikings Knights 2 was one of my favorite free games. It used to be packed on the weekends and I can’t count the times I laughed to tears. I went back to play it a few years ago and there were only a handful of people and most of them were the developers who loved their game and didn’t want to see it fade away. They even showed us some hidden Easter eggs and told us how they designed the player models and weapons.
war of rights is pretty solid. the gameplay can have some downtime and be repetitive, but there are lots of really satisfying and fun moments in it that you don't find in any other game. being a CO and leading 60+ guys to shoot and charge as you command is pretty awesome
@@duckeydude67 it's really not as prevalent as many make it seem. at least not this year, it has been in the past. also it's not really racism, but racial slurs and profanity.. like you'd find in many games with open mic. regardless it's hardly present lately
@@johnnyboro9558 I haven’t played much recently but when I used to play a TON like a year ago there would just be swarms of people playing as the confederates just yelling racial slurs and literally ostracizing people who “sounded black”
It’s wild to think these games survived longer than a lot of games released in the past few years and less, with the whole focus on live services and all. I get a bittersweet feeling from these, somewhere out there is someone playing these, sometimes with a handful more people likely developing a strong community driven bond, other times alone, maybe not even aware of the current gaming landscape just enjoying what they have. It’s sorta heartwarming.
This literally brings tears to my eyes as I have seen the rise, the glory, the fall, and the death of one of my favorite games ever made. Thousands upon thousands of hours (and probably euros too) poured into this one game over a decade of time. The game was called Fiesta Online. The English server in the Europe was shut down, as the playerbase disappeared. They gave us the option to migrate our characters to either French, German, or Spanish server if I remember correctly. I don't know if those servers are up anymore either. Or if my characters still exist there. It was the greed and negligence that killed this amazing game. From free to play to pay to pay to win. Or pay to do anything at all. The community was so great, though. I think it's still playable in the US servers, but those were extremely laggy for me and I often found myself blocked from there, as I was playing from EU. I tried countless private servers too, and they were fun for a while, but nothing could ever compare for the original. The people there. Amazing back in the day. Not only that, the music was absolutely fantastic in the game, and I quite liked the graphics and the atmosphere too. It would be amazing if you could try it. (If it even exist anymore.)
War of Rights is really fun, and I had some great moments playing the game. My most memorable moment was when I managed to get lost from my regiment after a heated gunfight. If you ever watched 1917, it felt like that. I was the only survivor of my regiment and I was completely stranded in unknown and hostile territory trying to get back to my line, desperately walking in every directions I could, knowing full well every step I take could have me closer to an enemy line. At one point I encountered a stranded enemy, he was actually pretty chill and we both went on our merry way. Eventually I found a guy from another friendly regiment and led me to his line, but once I got there the enemy line charged our line in a last desperate attempt to win. It was a very cinematic moment where there was close firing and bayonet stabbing, but at the end of the day we won and I survived the entire round without dying. I definitely recommend playing this game.
The reason why you weren't getting anywhere in Dystopia, is that your loadout didn't include the ability to hack those terminals. Like you might remember from old 90s sci-fi movies, cyberspace was this whoile thing, and you hack to jack in and go through this wireframe like virtual universe - fighting other players for control of objectives (or to open certain doors and such) In Dystopia this was a critical part of any map, and your defenseless hacker had to be protected back in "meatspace" for your side to win.
I always wanted to get Day of Infamy, but review says it's dead so I've been hesitant to do so. Funnily enough you've showcased how much fun can still be had in it even with the low player count.
TBF Day of infamy is probably best enjoyed with that small community. We all know each other and we just have fun 2-3 times a week on servers that fill up. It is as cinematic as battlefield and the community is amazing
man playing hurtworld around late 2015 to 2016 in the peak of its popularity was some of my most fond gaming memories ive ever had. truly cant emphasise how fun that game was to play with friends. so many laughs and good times im forever grateful
It’s honestly really sad to see it in such a pitiful state. It’s a shell of its formal glory. I liked it so much more then rust. There was no better feeling then fighting off a raid of 6+ people with your team and then being afraid to log off at night to get any sleep. Eventually when your eyes are burning and your starting to hallucinate you think it’s safe to get off and catch a few hours of rest only to log back in and pray you spawn in your base but alas you are naked on the beach and have to make the decision to give up until wipe or go back to work and get revenge by offline raiding the bastards that stole your shit. So many memories and emotions in that game. Both the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Now it’s all foreigners
@@coldburn9956 realest shit ive read in a while couldn’t agree more bro! was truly a gem of a game and being able to experience it in the months following its release is something i’ll always cherish. it was a super a refreshing take on the survival genre and i really liked how the progression system worked with the different biomes etc. the building was unique and mad fun to experiment with too it is cool to see there are other people that share this love for the game and had great times playing it back in the day too. it is truly a moment in time i’ll always look back on fondly
Hi bro came to agree with you, loved the first version of the game i got my 2k hours in the first version and met more than 40 friends in that game to have fun with, sadly the V2 came out and i really tought it could make the game better but sadly the developers decide to leave the game for 2 years, sad hope they give the game to another company or a good solo developer that likes to play the game and make it better
Dystopia was an amazing Source mod. Around 2012 there were like 2-3 populated servers, it's been gone for a while. That computer you were smacking was actually a terminal you could log into sort of like System Shock cyber space and have an entire second battle trying to take over the door controls to a point or whatever,
There's still a community around it. People were playing games pretty much every night EST/PST around 2 years ago during COVID. It died down again but during the weekend you can occasionally still find a game. They community has a discord server up
Man I played the hell out of Dystopia back in the day. Really awesome game with some gameplay balance I wasn't the biggest fan of but overall incredibly innovative. I don't recognize anything about the build you're playing, must've changed a lot after I quit.
Natural selection 2 is an awesome asymmetric RTS/FPS hybrid that pits Marines vs Aliens in a battle to wipe out the opposing teams bases. It's been dead for 2+ish years now but was amazing when the player base was still alive.
Yea it was alright. I played the crap out of it a few years ago. My experience with the people playing was overall not too bad just don't command poorly. I'd likely try a new NS if it ever came out.
The devs moved on from Natural Selection to make their big money maker which was Subnautica IIRC. I know that Subnautica is 'sort of' a prequel to Natural Selection, there's some hints at it in the lore.
Seeing Day of Defeat is still alive after 20 years blows my mind. It was one of the first games I got into when I got my first broadband 256k connection. Wild times!
@@thegoodgunnerwhat's wild is that some of the players first started playing DoDs in there 20s and are now 40 years old and still playing it. I was 13 years old when I first played DoDs in 2008 and I have played it on and off over the years. Still a great game and sometimes I'll play the original.
Just so you know Dystopia has a full server every Saturday starting 1900 UTC. Usually old source mods / games can only sustain a scheduled game per week due to low player base, but they are not dead. There is also the discord link in the menu so you can join the community and get notified of other timings for games. Make a new video when you play Dystopia on a Saturday please. :)
You have to go prone and deploy the bipod on the LMG in day of defeat to control it. Once you get it set up you can mow down anyone unfortunate enough to enter your field of fire. DoD was probably my favorite half life mod back in the day.
The steam servers going down is what I call "steam tuesdays", where every tuesday and sometimes thursday, all of steams services are taken down and restarted, assumingly to push updates if I had to guess. Happens like clockwork, and I dont think theyve missed a tuesday ever!
I always want to go back and visit Dystopia. I loved it so much when I first played it, even if I couldn't sell too many of my friends on it. When I last reinstalled it years ago, the only players were REALLY deep into it, and the skill gap was insurmountable. Now, it being at zero players makes me sad. But maybe one day I'll convince a group of friends to install it and we can learn it from scratch as our own private thing.
There is always people playing Dystopia. Just we play every saterday at around 20:00 UTC. We are most of the time 20 or more players. ^^ Join us on server if you want to enjoy the game again ;)
honestly i feel with Adam as long as you get the enjoyment you want from the game doesn't matter how good or bad a game is as long as you enjoy it at the end of the day.
Seeing dystopia again was a throw back, I found and started it in 2015 and it still had players then... kinda, and it was actually a whole lot of fun, I would hugely recommend trying to get some community night on this to really experience it. I remember it as organized tactical chaos
that hawken reborn looked NOTHING like what hawken was like in its hay day. It was such a great first person mech combat game for a time, and supported VR in the early days of VR.
War of Rights is NOT dead. All you have to do is join a clan/company. Most of them have regular drills on a weekdays and FULL server events on the weekends. I highly recommend to check it out. It is the best civil war shooter out there and still receiving updates, the latest one being character customisation for your soldier
I used to play Hawken with a friend years back and the combat was pretty different. It was a pain in the ass for a different reason, good mechs were locked behind a paywall or long grind and getting. It used to be an arena shooter with mechs not whatever it is now.
Bioxeed (The composer) is still around and producing, they post on youtube as well-- though it is very hard if not impossible to find his older works around that time period
i played the original hawken when i was a kid, the game was actually really fun and it had a reasonable amount of players. I re-installed it about a year ago and went to play. After a surprising 1 minute of it finding a match i got on the game... the match had three players, me, my teammate and an enemy. It was quite sad seeing the game that you played as a kid die and it ruined my day 👍
Dystopia is still one of my all time favorites (if not my all time favorite) team FPS. There is actually still a community that plays but they only get together on Saturdays so any other day, the servers are empty, That being said, I highly suggest you revisit it and join up on some of the matches to see what it's really like :) They have a Steam group for pick-up games with a chat that everyone coordinates on for the Saturday games.
War of Rights is definitely a game where you pretty much have to be in a group in order to get into a good game. They do like weekly games where they gather a bunch of their players and do these matches against other groups they either know or even have friendly rivalries with. If you’re not into semi “strict” groups, it may not be for you
Man, I remember playing Day Of Infamy when it still had 2k+ people. I got it super cheap on sale & decided to try it out, only to find out it was the same company that made one of my favourite FPS games, Insurgency. So I knew the game was quality, & it still is, I'm sad that the game is dead now, but hopefully the game comes back to life soon, I miss the stupid shit that happened in games lol.
I love Hurtworld. Many amazing memories. Gorgeous art style and a fun map with various biomes to explore. There was alot of verticality in regards to the map design which made the world feel even bigger. The building system that was easy to learn but you could get really creative. We built insane and sometimes massive compounds with carports, second and third story launch ramps, gardens, watchtowers, airlocked trading booths, and even found a way to make social areas like basketball hoops (Owrong ball court, lol). No base was ever exactly alike. The combat was satisfactory for what it was and the driving felt nice. Crafting wasn't too taxing, nor was base upkeep. Minus the Chinese hackers, this game was a gem and will live on in my mind as one of the most engaging sandbox survival games i've had the pleasure of playing.
Day of infamy was such a great and intense game Back when there were a lot of players you'd actually get the feeling of bullets constantly flying over your head Thinking back I really miss those times I actually think there are still people playing Insurgency
There was a game I played once called Defiance 2050 and one day I decided to comeback to the game. When I joined the place was empty with one or two players going by on a quad but the whole place was empty even when an event happened no one came to it. Just seeing an area that was once populated with tons of players just being empty was a weird feeling. I was in the starting area by the way. Edit: I should add that I think the game was shutting down at that point so the servers being basically empty made sense.
War of Rights is arguably the first game I genuinely come back to on a daily basis. Even though its the same maps in a rotation, each battle is never the same with different tactics, formations, ideas etc which are all formulated by the leaders of each company. Sure, it may look like its getting to be dead but that’s really only due to public lobbies whilst regimental battles are majority full to brim and rarely inactive. For those who wish to join one, come to the 5th Alabama, we’re an extremely welcoming community with a job for everyone. (Yes I just plugged an advertisement, shh)
I live in Western Maryland where the War of Rights game is set. The maps do an amazing job capturing the geography and landmarks. That bridge that you charged on looks exactly like the Burnside Bridge, which was a major strategic point during the Battle of Antietam.
You should try Last Oasis. A game that had great potential when it launched, but for some reason the devs decided to completely rework the core gameplay about a year ago and then abandoned it after massive critical feedback.
Played Red Baron 3D back in the late 90’s. It was abandoned by the publisher but kept alive through the hard work of loyal followers who developed their own mods to the game. Went on for a number of years afterwards. May even still be around in a private server somewhere.
The Day of Infamy part reminds me of Medal of Honor Allied Assault. The multiplayer has been taken off in 2015 I believe, but a mod kept it alive. I played it with my brother in 2016 and we met some French guys who had their own server and who had a whole clan with like 15-20 guys who still played a lot. Forward 7 years, I recently started it up again and those guys are still playing.. Only about 5 guys remaining, but they still play everyday, and they will not quit as they enjoy the game so much and it's a part of their life and friendship. I respect that so much.
@@CrimsontalorWhen I played it, it was free to play on the MS store in Top Free games, I only played it twice. I launched it and within seconds of launching it crashed. I launched it again in disbelief, only to pick a game and join, it crashed again. I uninstalled thinking it was due to being kicked (crashing) because of hackers and or shotty make and bugs or glitches. All the mecha games are now full of haxors and the game is reduced to who has the better clients and AI fighting AI or the game playing itself with external programs, not too far off from 'I Have a Mouth and I must Scream.' We now have stealth hax plaguing games only because they were made out of spite to battle better anti-cheat systems. Right now Epic Fortnite and Cod Warzones 2 have two of the best anti cheat systems. Fortnite reigns at number one and will likely be for a long time becoming a standard of Zero Tolerance for Cheating or in game exploits that are bannable offenses. Thus of which has to be intentionally pulled off to be called cheating and fair of a claim against a player otherwise you can't just accidently get banned for in game exploits for Fortnite unknowingly. There are other things in FN like say illegal actions as far as finances or exploits are more legal as in corpo. Can't have more than one account or make and sell accounts, like I said illegal at the corporate level. Or other things like being able to jump and aim at the same time or aim down sights. Can't do it in game and to do so is an illegal action and a modification done to the game by either internal or external means. While Warzones 2 has the most entertaining and fascinating concept that makes their anti-cheat so dang cool, but a hard number two to Epic Fortnite.
Id recommend trying hawken reborn for yourself, the video contains a lot of blatant misinformation (theres a 1st person mode, you can repair with free currency and most importantly: its effectively an early alpha build thats been changing a lot with player feedback)

I had a similar experience, just with source instead of the OG. Some of the best moments of my childhood were playing DoDS with my dad and his clan
DoD 3.1 was the best time to play. I still think of it as one of the most fun FPS games I ever played.
DoD was the shit back then, had a great community around it, even years after it's prime, a lot of guys of 40/50yo still played it, even some women which was rare especially on these old school niche FPS.

It was better than Insurgency in my opinion, such a good game gone to waste
everytime i see it in my steam library i dream of what couldve been, still no title quite like that for ww2
It's a great game I agree
Every other week i feel like playing it but then i remember that it is kinda dead. I loved this game so much when it was first launched.
I was gonna comment this. I play Wednesday BLN events and Saturday events with HDC. Servers are packed every game
It's DEAD DEAD

The day of Infamy made me a bit sad. I used to play it years ago but I had no idea the player count had dropped so much. It seemed pretty healthy when I played it last in 2019, we had plenty of servers where both teams were completely filled with real people. The D-day map was always super hard if you were on the Allies. Weird how time flies.
😢

The tiny pro circuit begged him "PLEASE stop screwing with the weapons, the game's in a great spot" and he always went "piss off it's MY game."
Could have undoubtedly had a bigger player count if he was more receptive. The last iteration of the weapon sandbox before he added Shootout economy was my favorite.

It's a damn shame, RS2 was so much fun back in 2017
I really miss the original Hawken beta, it was an exceptional game
Yeah, him calling it a 'really' old game when it's not even been a decade was a bit jarring, but so was seeing its corpse reanimated into a disastrous third-person mess. That game was so fun for the... three weeks that it had more than 20 people playing it.
It just released at wrong time. The new version is not what I played.
Yeah, sometimes i browse at my steam library and i see it and i remember how cool this game was
Honestly I have no reason to play this version and I never will I just miss the original
Where is the new version?
Dystopia to me is the greatest FPS game ever made. It's so unique and has so many options for different playstyles. It's so sad that it never got super popular and lately the company behind it was shutdown as well. I think they were developing a kind of a successor to dystopia as well. There still should be some people playing during weekends if you hit the servers at the right time, definitely should try it out with more people!
my dad always played it he told me that it would run circles around cod and battlefield if it was remade and i believe him now
Pirates Vikings Knights 2 was one of my favorite free games. It used to be packed on the weekends and I can’t count the times I laughed to tears. I went back to play it a few years ago and there were only a handful of people and most of them were the developers who loved their game and didn’t want to see it fade away. They even showed us some hidden Easter eggs and told us how they designed the player models and weapons.
war of rights is pretty solid. the gameplay can have some downtime and be repetitive, but there are lots of really satisfying and fun moments in it that you don't find in any other game. being a CO and leading 60+ guys to shoot and charge as you command is pretty awesome
yeah its definitely not a dead game like the title says
the only problem I have with it is the insane racism that most servers have
@@duckeydude67The racism is the best part.
Like you might remember from old 90s sci-fi movies, cyberspace was this whoile thing, and you hack to jack in and go through this wireframe like virtual universe - fighting other players for control of objectives (or to open certain doors and such)
In Dystopia this was a critical part of any map, and your defenseless hacker had to be protected back in "meatspace" for your side to win.
I always wanted to get Day of Infamy, but review says it's dead so I've been hesitant to do so. Funnily enough you've showcased how much fun can still be had in it even with the low player count.
NWI killed their own game by banning the funniest, most active group called "LOS".
@@coldburn9956 realest shit ive read in a while couldn’t agree more bro! was truly a gem of a game and being able to experience it in the months following its release is something i’ll always cherish. it was a super a refreshing take on the survival genre and i really liked how the progression system worked with the different biomes etc. the building was unique and mad fun to experiment with too
it is cool to see there are other people that share this love for the game and had great times playing it back in the day too. it is truly a moment in time i’ll always look back on fondly
I hope in one day this game gonna have another live❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There's still a bunch of players every Saturday at 8pm European time. Feel free to join if you want.
Natural selection 2 is an awesome asymmetric RTS/FPS hybrid that pits Marines vs Aliens in a battle to wipe out the opposing teams bases. It's been dead for 2+ish years now but was amazing when the player base was still alive.
yeah, sadly the toxic members of the community chased everyone else out :(
NS1 was very fun though but NS2... meh
I never played 2 but NS1 with my housemates was up there with my best gaming experiences ever
Wild times!
I m still playing it,very fee euro server and few US server left, most player are well over 40years old

War of rights is honestly such a good game if you play with the right people.

Oh shit it's baux!
Day of Infamy was excellent back in the day. Remember having so much fun. They really need to make a new one in a new engine.
Try Hell Let Loose
That game is nothing like Day of Infamy lol, just the setting@@romainthblt
Join us on server if you want to enjoy the game again ;)
I hope Day of Infamy comes back to life again so Adam has more people to hang out with 😂

honestly i feel with Adam as long as you get the enjoyment you want from the game doesn't matter how good or bad a game is as long as you enjoy it at the end of the day.
Yeah apparently they really shafted Hawken in one of the updates and changed it into what it is now, hence why the reviews were incredibly negative.
Dystopia was an absolutely amazing game in its heyday and has an insanely good soundtrack. DoD:S was my goto for like a decade - it rocks.
It was incredible with the different classes and upgrades. So many layers to the game with meat space and cyberspace.
Bioxeed (The composer) is still around and producing, they post on youtube as well-- though it is very hard if not impossible to find his older works around that time period
@redauir Yup! And they're also on Spotify, though critically underappreciated there. Spider Trap MK2 is forever on my playlists.
i played the original hawken when i was a kid, the game was actually really fun and it had a reasonable amount of players. I re-installed it about a year ago and went to play. After a surprising 1 minute of it finding a match i got on the game... the match had three players, me, my teammate and an enemy. It was quite sad seeing the game that you played as a kid die and it ruined my day 👍
it's not even the same game lmao
it's a soulless cash grab with hawken slapped on it to attempt to bring the old fans back
I miss hawken
If you’re not into semi “strict” groups, it may not be for you
Yeah games like WoR, Holdfast and Battle Cry for Freedom need you to join a group to get a good game going.
Man, I remember playing Day Of Infamy when it still had 2k+ people. I got it super cheap on sale & decided to try it out, only to find out it was the same company that made one of my favourite FPS games, Insurgency. So I knew the game was quality, & it still is, I'm sad that the game is dead now, but hopefully the game comes back to life soon, I miss the stupid shit that happened in games lol.
facts, cant beat WW2 Insurgency
I can see War of Rights not just as a game for people who want to shoot each other, but also for virtual reenactment.
The vibes in these videos are phenomenal. The undertale music makes it wonderfully cozy with the nostalgia and all. Good job!
Ah! Thanks. Was wondering where I recognised the background at 3:15 from... Seems like it was Undertale Ruins.
That german lobby was so funny especially if u understand them
Oooo Final Fantasy prelude music mixed in around the 9 minute mark. Beautiful! Love your commentary on these dead games. Super fun!
Day of infamy was such a great and intense game
Back when there were a lot of players you'd actually get the feeling of bullets constantly flying over your head
Thinking back I really miss those times
I actually think there are still people playing Insurgency
Yeah, Insurgency is still active with full servers. Even if players disappear, Russians will keep it alive.
Used to play Day of Defeat as a kid all the time back in the day. The clan battles were actually pretty amazing
And them not wanting to put it on the consoles(PlayStation and Xbox). Like for real this game would go crazy on console
I remember playing the original Hawken, didn't even know a reborn version came out
kinda wish i didn't know still
I remember playing Dystopia in maybe 2010 and there was maybe 30 players on at that time, it's cool to see nothing changes in gaming lol
I live in Western Maryland where the War of Rights game is set. The maps do an amazing job capturing the geography and landmarks. That bridge that you charged on looks exactly like the Burnside Bridge, which was a major strategic point during the Battle of Antietam.
I don't know why more people ain't talking about war of rights it such a good game
The map is Burnside’s Bridge lol, spot on.
I live in MD and have seen the battlefield too. Devs really did their research
Lara croft t-pose-sliding into a wall over a *"WEHRMACHT WINS"* message is not something I couldve ever imagined 😂 god that was hilariously unexpected
You should try Last Oasis. A game that had great potential when it launched, but for some reason the devs decided to completely rework the core gameplay about a year ago and then abandoned it after massive critical feedback.
Last Oasis was a great game! Sadly I was there to see it all burn away...
Just found this channel today and already love it. Definite sub and I’m looking forward to more quality content.
day of defeat in the mid 2000s was amazing. Strand was an incredible map, its too bad its hard to find now.
I miss the original HAWKEN , I loved playing it. it was genuinely nice to play
hawken was actually a really nice game this reborn thing is honestly an abomination.
I loved playing Hawken so much. The combat gameplay was amazing and there really was no other game like.
Id recommend trying hawken reborn for yourself, the video contains a lot of blatant misinformation (theres a 1st person mode, you can repair with free currency and most importantly: its effectively an early alpha build thats been changing a lot with player feedback)
