It is sad to see how bad Ring of Elysium got, I remember playing it back in 2018 on that snow map, it was so amazing, it introduced so many new concepts to the Battle Royale genre and then you had very cool details and features, like the one where you could create a avalanche with a grenade and it would completly destroy all the buildings in its path, a very nice way to kill everyone inside a small town or village and not many people seemed to know that they could do this back in the day. Anyway, it's another case of "What it could've been" and truly a shame

So glad to see STALKER Anomaly on this, picked up Anomaly GAMMA off the back of an Operator Drewski video and fell in love with the Ironman mode. The AI is surprisingly good, the gunplay feel really nice and the environment is amazing. One of the best free games I've ever played.

ROE fell off because of the changes made within the game. When the player base was at its highest, you didn't load into the map by dropping out of a plane. You chose a square where you will be spawned in which was a refreshing tactic that you could use because you can see where your teammates and enemies are choosing to load in. You had tons of ways to travel around the map. It was just fun at that time and alleviated frustrations other Br's had like Pubg where it turns into just a running simulator half of the time. Sadly they took out a lot of things I enjoyed about the game and now its very similar to other Br's, but with lack of attention. You wont be getting anything new really in ROE. Also i only played in first person, I can not find a game where I enjoy being in 3rd person unless its a story driven game.

I just tried this game cause I noticed it had decent graphics and was free. That was years ago, maybe in 2019. I really liked my time in it, since it had nice environment and much of a B. Royale game is about running around an environment and collecting stuff (until you meet opponents, and meanwhile). It will always have a warm place in my heart for this reason. Running around the ski resort environment, winter setting, trees and all that, in a large b. royale map, just felt so cozy.
Ring of Elysium still has its fun but the snow map was the best period for the game.. Just hopping on and off the snow board and stuff.. I'd deliberately go looking for a mountain to climb just to ride down it.. Was absolute blast back then
OMG! Transport tycoon - what a blast from the past. I actually played the original (Windows XP anyone? 😂) Found openTTD since I moved house, changed computers and lost the original CD (anyone know what that is?) I could run it on my potato laptop and satisfy my tycoon desires and watch the influence I had in developing the surrounding areas. Its great fun if you invest the time into learning the game. Also a fairly relaxing style of gaming compared to all the FPS and survival games flooding the market.

Ring of elysium was one of my favorite BRs, it was fun, competitive, felt like I never encountered cheaters and always had fun with my friends riding the bikes. I wish it never died
ROE was amazing. I didnt mind when they took out Mt Dione and put in Europa cause it was a fantastic map as well. It was just after that, the 3rd map added was trash and they only brought back Mt Dione every other month or something like that. Dusk til dawn and Ashen Eye were great game modes and I wish they couldve kept em supported as both were very unique and fun. But unfortunately, the devs thought that getting as similar to PUBG as possible was the winning strategy when that was far from needed. All the community events they hosted were fun and I participated in a few of them and actually won an event. I was given 10K in game premium currency to spend on whatever. It's truly a shame that the game went so far down. I think a revival could still happen given they fix up the issues and promo the game again but its highly unlikely for it to happen
If you'd like, I can provide more information about Ring of Elysium/Europa. The game was previously hosted on Garena under the title Europa/Ring of Elysium and was very popular in Thai-speaking regions, to the extent that actual tournaments with prize pools were held. The game was significantly better before it was transferred over to Steam/Tencent. Many core gameplay elements were modified with the Steam release. You could no longer drop from the plane, the glider was no longer provided by default, the map changed, and all building windows were modified, making it much harder to see enemies inside buildings. Additionally, you now had to escape by boarding onto the helicopter instead of having to eliminate all remaining enemies. The game also received some engine updates and a graphics quality upgrade, but it now had to load extra Tencent-owned DLL files. I still remember this being a hot topic on Discord at the time, as it essentially destroyed the game's performance (this was about a month before the Steam release). The game had essentially been reworked in every aspect; everything that made the game what it was known for had vanished. A few old players still stuck around as the gunplay thankfully remained the same, although movements felt less responsive. Season 1 (the snow map) was generally well-received, mostly due to the game being free-to-play and resembling PUBG, which was vastly popular at the time. I can understand that some people like this version of Ring of Elysium as it was their first experience with the game, and they had no idea what it used to be like. However, the player base quickly declined in the first few months, and it became quite noticeable. You would quickly notice that the game would search for players for 1-4 seconds and then throw you into a game with bots that were clearly not ready (you would see bots running around, getting shot, stopping, doing a perfect 180, running for a few meters, only to do another 180 and start moving forward again). So, my point is, Europa/Ring of Elysium pre-Steam release is not the same game as what was released on Steam under Tencent
A horror game where you clean wine off the floor of a creepy dark corridor and ends as soon as you step into the nearest elevator. That's some next-level gaming experience right there 😂
Stalker anomaly as a base is fun enough, but the mod packs you could add on top of anomaly mod (Yes it's a crazy situation) are actually better by a long shot. If you like more crafting and survival, play the Gamma mod pack. If you like more pure combat and looting, Play the EFT (Escape From Pripyat) mod pack
I'm crying... ROE was such an amazing game when it came out... It was just really fun to play, but after about 3 seasons, it started getting buggy and almost unplayable for me, that is when I stopped playing and I actually felt really sad when the server finally shut down...
Watching back through your videos. I've recently been playing the splinter cell games online again. Double agent is pretty much dead bar a few hardcore discord players. The online was one of the best online games ever and I'm so glad people still play it. Should check it out for a video some time
Few suggestions for next video: 1) Dauntless (its like monster hunter but free) 2) Fall Guys (its like Squid Game tv series.. but cuter.. and a free game) 3) trackmania (driving game with playermade tracks, i believe its a game mostly for speedrunners but it looks fun also for casual gamers) 4) Battle for Wesnoth (its like Advanced Wars but for pc, free and has bit deeper RPS system.. has both single player story missions but also online multiplayer)
Stalker Anomaly modded further with Gamma and some more individual smaller mods is the best gaming experience I've ever had in my life and the best game ever made in human history. If you don't agree you are simply wrong. Period.

You should explore Caliber because it's a great game with an actual player base that could use a little push of interest. The only perceived problem with the game is that it's quickly labeled as pay to win by many Western players without actually playing and progressing the game (there are pay to progress faster elements but everything in the game can be earned by playing and no it's not weeks of grinding for a character as some would suggest)
It sucks that so many games will never be enjoyed again. Dirty Bomb was my personal favorite, but the developers refused to revert awful changes or listen to what players actually wanted. They would change things that no one asked for. It ultimately killed the game. Just like Elysium, when developers remove things or make bad changes and then refuse to revert said changes, the games will die every time. Such a shame.
I guess sometimes u got indie games being similar to AAA games, rather than being better than them, when u got stuff like removing whatever's already in the game or making changes that are bad somehow and made some players quit the game they're playing.
I've been watching Yogscast play Open TTD every year for 13 years during Jingle Jam, I still don't understand it, but I enjoy watching them play nonetheless

@@rolandb.1866 everything in the game is from the unreal engine marketplace, the asset pack used is called "post apocalyptic city" and is also the reason why many games look exactly like it, and the reason that one ambulance is in every indie apocalyptic game in existence, also there's a pack created by the same person that also has the ambulance called "post apocalyptic district" and it's also cheaper, therefore more popular. The map used in the game wasn't even a map that the creator of the game made using the assets, it's just the demo map built into the asset pack.
Yoooo!! I play rings of elysium when it first came out, first 2 seasons, met a new long time gaming friend on it. It never had a super large player base for NA servers at the times of day I played though, no wonder it died lol.
Played Ring of Elysium when it very first launched with one map - ski resort. I barely racognize it in the gameplay shown. Everyone started spreading the word that the game gave access to parts of your PC and ppl started deleting it - including me. Whether true or not, gameplay wasn't worth it. Of course, map was always empty - you rarely ran into other ppl until end game.
I use to pirate STALKER when i was a kid and that game blew my mind… the radiation, the anomalies, the coffin. You guys remember the coffin? GET OUT OF HERE STALKER!

I loved ROG i grinded it a lot over the past years once they got rid of the snow map it was all downhill from there crazy the games being terminated on DEC 1 :(

Was one of the top players of RoE, it was just recently announced (shortly after making this video haha) that the game is being taken down completely soon. The snow map (Dione) was really, REALLY bad. The good part of that map was mostly the simplicity of the packs on that map. The Europa map (shown in the video) was definitely the peak in terms of map design of the game, the one that came after was an absolute disaster, the gunplay rework which no-one asked for, and horrible reputation of the anticheat asking for admin permission coming from an Asian game, created a lot of false and quite racist/stereotype rumors of "Chinese bitcoin miners" coming from the game with no response from the team working on/for the game. It was fun, the competition was good in the game and it was the the most fun and inviting competitive scene I've ever played in (In 12 years of playing tournaments). Met lots of great people, it allowed me to travel to the US for the first time with the 2nd place in the Amazon Cup and I actually met my now Fiancé in the game (seasoned RoE players will know who) so it's close to my heart in a way, but I'm glad it's finally actually dead. Rest in peace 💜
I remember, playing the game, europa game out and it was like a worse version of the PUBG map. On top of that hackers got insane. Dione was absolutely perfect.
No idea if people still play it, but Arma 3 Battle Royale used to be awesome and it started the whole genre. The mod was made by Player Unknown and ended up resulting in PUBG.
I still play vanilla Stalker ANOMALY on occasion, its definately one of the best free FPS games in recent times, and its a mod. And i have yet to play GAMMA because my MSI laptop is about 5 years old with no 2nd cpu stick 😂 eventually.
Prop and Seek is a slightly worse version of the source mod Prop Hunt. Boot up TF2 and type "prophunt" or "ph" into the tags section of the community server browser. Way more fun with those physics imo. Leads to funny chases
sad thing is that I actually loved ring of elysium and enjoyed playing it but wasn't to play ut much cause when it was played alot I had a shitty pc and wasn't able to play much with 20 FPS and it's genuinely sad that it died
Ring of Elysium was actually a fun, fairly polished game compared to PUBG when it came out. Can't speak for it a month later, my group of friends and I only played it for about that long.
Very polished: OpenTTD is a strategy game where you cannot use ESCAPE to close a window and instead you hunt down the X icon every time you want to close the window. This is the level of polish that is unacceptable. You have to make core gameplay feel good otherwise you are not making a good game.
93h Rin of Elysium player here i realy enjoyed the game because its ability to use a grabling hook, a glider or a snowboard to move quicker... but they did changes to the game which got it killed... if i remeber correct they added the ability to go invisible for a certain amount of time... in this time this was to broken and seemed most of the times unfair so me and my squad decided to quit the game... in short i guess they had a balancing issue but were focusing on getting money not making the game balanced. i enjoyed it to play ... but its long gone now
If you like really good free games you should check out STALCRAFT which is also a game that was inspired by the stalker games but with a unique twist, great stories, voice acting, and engaging quests. I've been playing it for awhile and think it should've been on the list.

The game was previously hosted on Garena under the title Europa/Ring of Elysium and was very popular in Thai-speaking regions, to the extent that actual tournaments with prize pools were held. The game was significantly better before it was transferred over to Steam/Tencent. Many core gameplay elements were modified with the Steam release. You could no longer drop from the plane, the glider was no longer provided by default, the map changed, and all building windows were modified, making it much harder to see enemies inside buildings. Additionally, you now had to escape by boarding onto the helicopter instead of having to eliminate all remaining enemies. The game also received some engine updates and a graphics quality upgrade, but it now had to load extra Tencent-owned DLL files. I still remember this being a hot topic on Discord at the time, as it essentially destroyed the game's performance (this was about a month before the Steam release). The game had essentially been reworked in every aspect; everything that made the game what it was known for had vanished. A few old players still stuck around as the gunplay thankfully remained the same, although movements felt less responsive. Season 1 (the snow map) was generally well-received, mostly due to the game being free-to-play and resembling PUBG, which was vastly popular at the time. I can understand that some people like this version of Ring of Elysium as it was their first experience with the game, and they had no idea what it used to be like. However, the player base quickly declined in the first few months, and it became quite noticeable. You would quickly notice that the game would search for players for 1-4 seconds and then throw you into a game with bots that were clearly not ready (you would see bots running around, getting shot, stopping, doing a perfect 180, running for a few meters, only to do another 180 and start moving forward again). So, my point is, Europa/Ring of Elysium pre-Steam release is not the same game as what was released on Steam under Tencent

Stalker anomaly as a base is fun enough, but the mod packs you could add on top of anomaly mod (Yes it's a crazy situation) are actually better by a long shot.
If you like more crafting and survival, play the Gamma mod pack.
If you like more pure combat and looting, Play the EFT (Escape From Pripyat) mod pack
I'm crying... ROE was such an amazing game when it came out... It was just really fun to play, but after about 3 seasons, it started getting buggy and almost unplayable for me, that is when I stopped playing and I actually felt really sad when the server finally shut down...

Few suggestions for next video: 1) Dauntless (its like monster hunter but free) 2) Fall Guys (its like Squid Game tv series.. but cuter.. and a free game) 3) trackmania (driving game with playermade tracks, i believe its a game mostly for speedrunners but it looks fun also for casual gamers) 4) Battle for Wesnoth (its like Advanced Wars but for pc, free and has bit deeper RPS system.. has both single player story missions but also online multiplayer)

You should explore Caliber because it's a great game with an actual player base that could use a little push of interest. The only perceived problem with the game is that it's quickly labeled as pay to win by many Western players without actually playing and progressing the game (there are pay to progress faster elements but everything in the game can be earned by playing and no it's not weeks of grinding for a character as some would suggest)
It sucks that so many games will never be enjoyed again. Dirty Bomb was my personal favorite, but the developers refused to revert awful changes or listen to what players actually wanted. They would change things that no one asked for. It ultimately killed the game.
Just like Elysium, when developers remove things or make bad changes and then refuse to revert said changes, the games will die every time. Such a shame.
I guess sometimes u got indie games being similar to AAA games, rather than being better than them, when u got stuff like removing whatever's already in the game or making changes that are bad somehow and made some players quit the game they're playing.

The DiseaseZ game does look a lot like a very early version of Passed Out, an Zombie Batlle Royal in Early Access right now, which isnt bad.

@@rolandb.1866 everything in the game is from the unreal engine marketplace, the asset pack used is called "post apocalyptic city" and is also the reason why many games look exactly like it, and the reason that one ambulance is in every indie apocalyptic game in existence, also there's a pack created by the same person that also has the ambulance called "post apocalyptic district" and it's also cheaper, therefore more popular. The map used in the game wasn't even a map that the creator of the game made using the assets, it's just the demo map built into the asset pack.

Yoooo!! I play rings of elysium when it first came out, first 2 seasons, met a new long time gaming friend on it. It never had a super large player base for NA servers at the times of day I played though, no wonder it died lol.
Played Ring of Elysium when it very first launched with one map - ski resort. I barely racognize it in the gameplay shown. Everyone started spreading the word that the game gave access to parts of your PC and ppl started deleting it - including me. Whether true or not, gameplay wasn't worth it. Of course, map was always empty - you rarely ran into other ppl until end game.
Funnily enough if you played the warehouse level on prop and seek you would see that zombie carnage 2 is just the night version of it

I had fun playing ring of elysium, the movement system was really fun but the game died quickly and im fairly sure pubg or another BR picked up similar movement systems
Was one of the top players of RoE, it was just recently announced (shortly after making this video haha) that the game is being taken down completely soon.
The snow map (Dione) was really, REALLY bad. The good part of that map was mostly the simplicity of the packs on that map. The Europa map (shown in the video) was definitely the peak in terms of map design of the game, the one that came after was an absolute disaster, the gunplay rework which no-one asked for, and horrible reputation of the anticheat asking for admin permission coming from an Asian game, created a lot of false and quite racist/stereotype rumors of "Chinese bitcoin miners" coming from the game with no response from the team working on/for the game.
It was fun, the competition was good in the game and it was the the most fun and inviting competitive scene I've ever played in (In 12 years of playing tournaments). Met lots of great people, it allowed me to travel to the US for the first time with the 2nd place in the Amazon Cup and I actually met my now Fiancé in the game (seasoned RoE players will know who) so it's close to my heart in a way, but I'm glad it's finally actually dead. Rest in peace 💜
I remember, playing the game, europa game out and it was like a worse version of the PUBG map. On top of that hackers got insane. Dione was absolutely perfect.

No idea if people still play it, but Arma 3 Battle Royale used to be awesome and it started the whole genre. The mod was made by Player Unknown and ended up resulting in PUBG.

I still play vanilla Stalker ANOMALY on occasion, its definately one of the best free FPS games in recent times, and its a mod. And i have yet to play GAMMA because my MSI laptop is about 5 years old with no 2nd cpu stick 😂 eventually.

Prop and Seek is a slightly worse version of the source mod Prop Hunt. Boot up TF2 and type "prophunt" or "ph" into the tags section of the community server browser. Way more fun with those physics imo. Leads to funny chases
sad thing is that I actually loved ring of elysium and enjoyed playing it but wasn't to play ut much cause when it was played alot I had a shitty pc and wasn't able to play much with 20 FPS and it's genuinely sad that it died

Ring of Elysium was actually a fun, fairly polished game compared to PUBG when it came out. Can't speak for it a month later, my group of friends and I only played it for about that long.
Very polished: OpenTTD is a strategy game where you cannot use ESCAPE to close a window and instead you hunt down the X icon every time you want to close the window. This is the level of polish that is unacceptable. You have to make core gameplay feel good otherwise you are not making a good game.
93h Rin of Elysium player here i realy enjoyed the game because its ability to use a grabling hook, a glider or a snowboard to move quicker... but they did changes to the game which got it killed... if i remeber correct they added the ability to go invisible for a certain amount of time... in this time this was to broken and seemed most of the times unfair so me and my squad decided to quit the game... in short i guess they had a balancing issue but were focusing on getting money not making the game balanced. i enjoyed it to play ... but its long gone now

If you like really good free games you should check out STALCRAFT which is also a game that was inspired by the stalker games but with a unique twist, great stories, voice acting, and engaging quests. I've been playing it for awhile and think it should've been on the list.
