Déjà Drift developer here. It's nice to hear what you thought about our game! We released the game last August right before I started my senior year of college. That was our deadline because I knew I would be too busy with senior projects to keep working on it. I've since graduated and we are now deciding how we are going to move forward with the project. Big thanks to those of you who joined our Discord server, told us about this video, and asked us to keep working on it!
As an asset developer, and the developer of NWH Vehicle Physics 2 which is frequently the top selling vehicle physics for Unity, this video was interesting to watch. Most of the issues seen in the video (in regards to the driving physics) could have been solved with a bit of tweaking. E.g., the karting flipping over in corners is because the developer placed the center of mass somewhere far below the kart - essentially turning it into a pendulum. The cars that do not want to steer most likely either have CoM or inertia messed up, etc.
@@kohai-kun9261 Well, vehicle physics are quite complex and have a lot of parameters that need to be tweaked just right to get that 'feel' of realism. Just one thing being off can throw the whole thing off. I do provide a setup wizard, but still some knowledge of vehicle physics is velocome on the dev side.
It’s always sad to see games that developers genuinely put time and effort into with good concepts get buried in steam to never been noticed. I'm starting out developing games myself, and it's fun to look at some of these janky ones and try to puzzle out what's going on under the hood (no pun intended). I'm pretty sure the 'reset' mechanic in "Race! The cart in 34:45 I have spent enough time burning my pc with unreal engine 4 to know that that’s the advanced vehicle physics car. Except I think the devs removed the color of the cart, other than that it’s the same car.
Big respect for creators making something new and intersting. Even if it's not a fully polished AAA title, seeing a new idea come to life is really cool. Obviously not talking about the asset flip monstrosities, but more the Deja Drift kind of games.
26:44 Congratulations to Old Skool Racer for being the first and only game on this list to feature a working mirror, extra point for that. Honorary 1/10
Game-making-kit style engines are designed specifically to trick people into thinking they have what it takes to make fun video games. An asset flip implies malicious intent - that someone is trying to get people's money for a piece of trash they slapped together. A lot of these games are honest genuine attempts at making a fun game, but people are naive, lack skill and understanding, and sometimes are completely oblivious to the poor quality of their "work". It's the Dunning-Kruger effect. Then sometimes their ego is so huge that they cannot see how crummy their own project is, they're blinded by their own "genius" because obviously nobody else could ever figure out how to make a game like they have, and we should all bow down. It's really sad, and these game-making-kit engines enable it. That being said, there's still tons of money-grab asset flips out there too.
My god, "Supercar Drift" was one of my childhood games i played on a browser. It bring back many good memories like that one rally game with similiar asset music, bro that melody is stuck in my head. Garbage game but enjoyable very much.

I mean one minute worth of bugs and fails in 30 minutes of gameplay is better than 1 minute of the same but in 30 seconds of gameplay
5:54: My justification for playing FH5 instead of TC2.
What´s so bad about The Crew 2?
Steam happily refund users upon request (if quick enough), because it's better than losing revenue by completely removing these long-abandoned games from their servers.
You're like a pioneer out there on the steam store continent!
Great video. Inspired me to try more random indie games. 👍

@@IgnoreMyChan thanks 👍
15:42 that exact Supra was on a 3D model downloading site.
33:02 got me in shock
I’ve played many an obscure racer in my time, and thankfully none of the games here I have played.
41:32😂😂 He proved Zendaya wrong.
who'd knew the racing genre was in such shambles :D, your deadpan delivery along with your comedic timing made this a blast to watch, reminds me of another gaming critic - DX
The cart in 34:45
I have spent enough time burning my pc with unreal engine 4 to know that that’s the advanced vehicle physics car.
23:42 first racing game to ever include Milei as a playable character, 10/10
🤮
as someone from Argentina, we hate Milei
@@leonardotissera5216 you*

@@leonardotissera5216 fr, I still can't believe he sent 5 billion usd in GOLD to the UK for no fucking reason
That trucker game in the beginning sounds oddly really charming lol, love the premise
The Need for Madness soundtrack in the background 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was DYING when you showed the turbomania bugs & glitches montage 😂
26:44 Congratulations to Old Skool Racer for being the first and only game on this list to feature a working mirror, extra point for that. Honorary 1/10
...and they removed it so the game could run at 5fps instead of 3
Ouch, so the option no longer functions. Then how can you tell when your beautiful Mcclarin is about to get rammed?

Aha, I can recognise that Need for Madness soundtrack even whilst it's so quiet. Great taste, Sepi, great taste.
EDIT: Wait a second, you've been using the NFM soundtrack all throughout the video. Hell yeah.
waiting for the flatout 3 lets play
The game at 12:03 reminds me of a similar top down lego game that I played as a kid. I think you could only accelerate or go in reverse, and the cars turned by themselves. I remember having a real hard time actually completing the game. Good times.
I do believe I still have that somewhere on an old CD, will make a cracked video if I find it lol
29:31 @VirtuaIceMan is a RUclipsr too! He catalogs every rally and F1 game on PC
I enjoyed watching the video. it has a lot of serious talking about those games and I hope you managed to get your money back.❤
This makes me feel a lot better about a game im working on...
Hope it’s not gonna be as bad as these
@chanhkhiemtran9010 me too 😭
Shoot me a key I'll QA it for you for free
@@BoleDaPole alr, what do you want me to send it to you from? (btw the game isn't done yet)
Vapor low poly + vapor wave = my favorite game build style
2:25 was that Need For Madness 2 music????
yeah, latter at 27:22 you hear the monster playground song, and at 29:20 the King arena song
13:05
Wait I have seen this track before.
Of course I have, it is literally Alber Park Cicuit in Melbourne.
30:27 nah not the scramjet 💀
I hope Freelance Trucker, Drift Type C and especially Deja Drift got a bump in player count after your video, seems faur that those games deserve more recognition 🙏😭
0:11 what? no weed joke? :(
Most of the devs might have been high when making them so... There it is?
These games make Garfield kart look like AAA game
15:31 i like this channel
3:47 no way, that is dedication. Must have taken months to make this video then! respect
16:50 I wanna know what that song is 😂
Push Play - Blasterjaxx
The game with the 1 minute montage has the funny feature of the car getting squashed but still driveable
Ah yea, Xtreme Aces Racing. I know that game sadly, what a pile of garbage. Thankfully, that game made me discover Skydrift, so maybe things aren't all bad haha.
17:20 thumbs up for NFM2 music, thanks for taking me back to 4th grade with that
