- Is it possible to beat Super Mario 3D Land without touching a single coin, is a question that is surprisingly difficult to answer. A couple of days ago we took a look at my failed attempt to route 3D land without touching a single evil coin. A routing attempt that sadly failed. While we were able to find a way to avoid almost all coins in Super Mario 3D Land, there were two coins that we were forced to collect. So I was ready to accept my defeat and to move on, but then, then I once again got some help. I got tons and tons of comments filled with different ideas, and cool game knowledge on how it may be possible to skip those final two evil coins. In this video we will take a look at a lot of different ideas on how to dodge the final two coins, and we will finally find out if it is possible to beat Super Mario 3D Land without touching a single coin.

I think I know why you dodged the coin in 5-2! because the coin rotates, I think the hitbox does as well. and when you watch the clip of you avoiding it, the coin is sideways, so he doesn't touch it!

For the hallway coin, I think it was because the coin’s hitbox spins just like the coin so if you timed it right, while it is in its | formation, I think that is how, and there might be a way to roll at the perfect frame and pixel to barely get past all three coins

He fell into a cauldron full of coins and almost drowned in it. After this, the villages druid decided he shall never drink from that cauldron again. He then compensated his lust for coins by eating tons of wild boar and throwing around huge menhirs (check out his other channels, it's quite insane).

I was wondering if having a Discord server, or an equivalent structure, wouldn’t be an excellent way for you to ask things to your community.
It might be unsurprisingly simpler to get answers and suggestions to the problems you sometimes have, like the two problems you had in the last video. Additionally, it may give voice to non-English speakers who maybe don’t want to discuss here.
I’m not paid by Discord or by anyone ^^ I just wanted to make a suggestion for you to think about if you find it relevant.
*EDIT :* here is a list of things I think Discord is an efficient way to do.
- make some broadcasts
- obtain some support while playing 10 hours in a row on a single issue
- obtain direct answers on challenge-related videos
- obtain ideas for future videos/challenges
- allow discussions related to the channel, or random discussions, while staying framed by moderators
And I’m sure you’ll find a lot more ideas !

I think it‘s the hitbox.
When you got through this gap you didn’t touch it.
The coins are always like turning around in a circle.

Maybe mario's hitbox is just a tiny bit smaller when jumping that way and if executed just right, you don't hit the hitbox of the coin? thats my guess.

6:16 you must really miss those New Super Luigi U coinless runs
An odd thing I noticed is that Ceave made a coinless run and managed to beat the game without collecting any coins. Later, he made a video about the lowest score in the same game. In the video, he said there were 3 unavoidable coins that he proved before to be avoidable with the mini-mushroom in the coinless run video that came BEFORE the lowest score run.

I would love to see you tackle Super Mario Land or Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, too. I've done some preliminary tries and I think they're both impossible (keyword 'think').
In Super Mario Land, there are some really precise jumps in the first 3 worlds, but 4-1 presents a vertical dotted line of coins that I couldn't get through. At the very end, there is a whole room full of coins that you can only dodge in the 1.0 release of the game using a glitch.
Wario Land is especially broken. First off, there's a mechanic where you NEED to collect 10 coins to make a super coin that unlocks the doors at the end of most levels. I haven't played the entire game yet, but there are coins in the way everywhere in the first 2 worlds. On top of that, there's a series of coins in the first level that I couldn't get past, THE FIRST LEVEL!!!
Oh well, I hope you or somebody else can take a look at these and have more luck than I did. Happy dodging!

Funny enough, Helixsnake, who is considered to be the best player of super Mario odyssey, tried to beat the game coinless in a livestream. He managed to beat the game with 1 coin. But, another youtuber named BeardBear, managed to beat the game with 0 coins.

I never knew about the sideways long jump trick despite years of playing Super Mario 3D Land, I really want to try it out myself! It looks fun!
That trick where you jump one way and then move another is called vectorization IIRC, and can be used in quite a few Mario or otherwise physics-based games.

Yo I just realized something about the hallway coins Ceave! I think you were able to dodge the coin that one time because of the ROTATIONAL ORIENTATION of the coin. That time, the coin was rotated in a way that made some space on the side. Perhaps this can make the trick a bit more manageable if not using the p-wing.
